If you love (or even like) ye ole pirate tales, you should try out this game. They have done a really good job with the graphics of this game, and have done an excellent job keeping the inventory items of that time period. The HOS are interactive you click on one cabinet door and several open, click on another and others open some close. The puzzles are simple such as placing gears onto their correct places by comparing the gear to the shadowed slot. The best feature in my opinion is the collectable coins....they are everywhere, but some of them are really hard to find. The map feature will show you if coins are still available in each area which is essential otherwise you would assume you have found them. At different locations in the game you will come across a chest that requires these coins to open, and you must find the coins or you will not be able to get important inventory. I really like the way they tell the twisted love tale as well as telling you stories about pirate days. This is well worth a SE but I was not sold on the CE. Enjoy!

You have just been summoned to St. Peters Cathedral in southern Italy after your grandfather goes missing There you learn that your grandfather was part of the Order of light, keepers of seven seals that unlock the portal gates between earth and evil. Only members of the Vanhelsing family can travel freely between portals! I must admit that this is a great game, crisp graphics, good background sound, and eerie otherworldly vibes but I prefer the CE because of the morphs and achievements. There are just a handful of HOS but they are interactive and are a mixture of list finds as well as placing items back into the correct places. Puzzles are also far and few between and some of them are frustrating such as correctly placing discs to match a pattern as shown on your clue, by dragging them into different slots and then sliding the discs outward but the whole column shifts as well! (I skipped this one!) There is a map for traveling and it indicates active areas, and you have a decoder to decipher notes left behind by gramps, which is sort of an achievement because as you find the notes a pop up window tells you that you have found 2 out of fifteen notes for example. I would recommend that you take advantage of this weekends sale and get the CE for the perks and bonus game, but this is still well worth a credit. Enjoy!

This is the story of a haunting in the orphanage, all of the children are being tormented by the same evil entity, the red boogieman! The children are so frightened that they close down the orphanage, abandoning the building for good. It is now up to you to investigate and find evidence that the boogieman does indeed exists. One of the best features of this game are the collectables, lots of different kinds. You will find hidden crayons, toys and letters of the alphabet, and they have done an excellent job of hiding them. There are a lot of HOS, they are interactive and each HOS has a puzzle to interact with such as placing badges in the correct slots. There aren't as many mini games but with collectables as well as achievements to earn you will enjoy playing this game. I didn't like the bright sunny atmosphere because it took away from the spooky scary feel for me, but it's still a well done game.

You wake up in the House of 1000 doors, brought there by a stranger from another world, to help you destroy the evil snakes that are destroying earth! Great story right? I will say that the first one is my favorite, but this game is going to be mine. I only have one complaint....the morphing objects (my personal favorites) are way to obvious. I wish they would make you go back in forth a bit before the objects start to morph to keep you on your toes. The HOS are a mixture of interactive list finds as well as putting items back into the scene in the correct place. There are a ton of fun puzzles such as putting colored tiles in a vertical column to match the stationary colored tiles at the top so you have to shuffle the tiles around a bit to line them up. The map can be adjusted to either show or hide areas of interest and can be used for quick traveling but I like to go through the rooms myself so it feels more like I'm the one doing all the searching, I am not sure if this is worth the CE because from what I could tell, there was no bonus chapter ( I could be wrong) but you do get morphs, wallpaper, and HOS and puzzle extras. This one's a keeper. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

This game is a bit unusual, everything is mechanical and there are a ton of puzzles to fix and figure out. I did find it odd that they named the characters after similar people but changed it slightly and I'll leave that up to you to see if you can pick up on it. The Dark Lord and his robot army have taken over the palace, the King and Queen captured but not before the newborn Princess is knocked out of the loving arms of her momma, only to drop out of a window and be scooped up by her Uncle in a flying machine! It really is an interesting story and the graphics are well done (as detailed as you can get in a mechanical world). You may miss the lack of HOS but you will be busy with the many puzzles this game has to offer. Even though this is a SE there are achievements to earn. Your Uncle is an inventor so you will have a robot to fly to places you can't reach and a device that reads the mind of that ever hungry squirrel. There is no map but there is a button to take you to the previous scene, only 2 levels of difficulty and a good hint system. This is a fun game, no wow factors but for a standard edition it's worth the price, enjoy!

You are a detective for the Enigma Agency and your boss, John is in trouble. You are no stranger to the unexplainable, but this is an unusual case. John had been asked to retrieve an ancient (and cursed) map by a client, but when he begins to be plagued by a curse, he destroys the map and has angered the Myan chief! If you chose to pass on the CE and have waited for this SE, the only thing you're going to miss out on are collecting the hidden scorpions. There are a lot of mini games, every door, appliance, phone and window in this mansion is missing a component and will require a puzzle to solve. Some of the mini games are frustrating such as rotating a circle within a circle, each of the smaller inner circles have a colored marble which you need to rotate to get the correct color of marble into the correct matching chute and if it goes in the wrong chute you have to start all over. You don't get a lot of HOS, but they are well done and slightly interactive. There is a map that shows you a task list for each visited area but you cannot travel. The hint system is excellent, the arrow will guide you in each scene until you get to the correct area and then it will show you what inventory item to use. This is a good game to play, well worth buying. Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I don't know why anyone would not like this game, this is the kind of game that attracts most HO fans. This series does a wonderful job of making a dark, eerie abandoned town look beautiful and realistic. The background music sets the mood and you truly feel as though you are walking through this town. The only thing I didn't like was that as a collectors edition it doesn't seem to have a lot other than a SG and a mysterious bonus game. It does have 15 collectable animals but I only found one at the beginning so it either doesn't exists in the demo or they have done a fantastic job of hiding them. I think their strategy is working because I plan to buy this to find out where they are hidden. Enjoy!

If you have a credit this is the game to use it on! Although I enjoyed the previous Shiver games more, this is still an excellent game. You were abandoned (or so you thought) as a baby and a kind doctor named Rene found you, nursed you back to health and raised you as his own. Rene has been missing for four years now, and you are heading to town to replace him as the town doctor when a wolf startles your horse and causes the carriage to crash. The graphic quality is good and the background sounds are chilling. The HOS are extremely interactive for example you must find a can opener to open a jar with a lobster, then you have to find a net to pick up the lobster and use the lobster's claws to open up a bundle of stamps to use on another interactive item. I think you will enjoy the mini games, simple but fun such as untangling ropes by placing the ropes on different snaps but only a few of the placements are moveable. Some of the inventory items will have an eye above them which indicates that something needs to either combine with that item such as flint needs steel, or that it actually is a mini game such as positioning the Vitruvian man to the exact position as on your diary note. Try this one, you're going to like it. Enjoy!

This would make a terrific app for a phone but quite frankly it get's boring after just a short time. Basically you spit seeds at the zombies who are approaching you on various platforms. You will get soldiers like tomatoes and carrots and you have to click on which soldier you want to use. There are achievements to earn but I just don't think anyone will want to play this after the demo.

The only thing worse than an evil witch is an evil witch with attitude! You are bedridden with stage 2 leukemia when your sister makes the devil a deal, exchanging her youthful life to the witch for your recovery. The witch has taken your sister through a magical mirror portal and it's off you go to save your sister. The cutscenes are really good with excellent voiceovers and an intriguing storyline. There aren't too many HOS but they have mixed them up a bit, they are interactive and a mixture of finding items that go together such as a ring and a ring box, find 12 toys (some of which need completed like repairing or painting) and finding the item that matches the shadow. The mini games are somewhat new and not to difficult like guiding a scorpion to the exit but some doors only open one way and others shut behind the scorpion. There are achievements for just about everything including using your protective amulet against poisonous smoke or fire. You will also collect 36 golden nuts that break open to reveal a fortune that you can re-read whenever you wish. The collectors edition has lot's of extras including wallpapers and bonus game and movies as well as more mini games and HOS. I think this is a must have game for HOPA fans. Enjoy!
