I actually enjoyed this game but I didn't find all the Bonus Content they claim is in this Collector's Edition version, I just found a tab with "extra's" that had 6 Wallpapers? The graphics are pretty darn realistic and each character has a different walking gait which is something you don't usually see in a Time Management game.

The gameplay is about the same as the other Jane's Hotel games, but of course, the story is new, sort of. Jane buys the dilapidated Hotel that her Great-Grandmother Jane built back in the day.

The goals are fairly easy to reach, there are really only two goals, serve X amount of customers and earn X amount of money. There are only four rooms to deal with, and the poor maid does 99% of the work while Jane hands out room keys to new customers and checks them out, occasionally she serves a cup of coffee, a bottle of water, or carries a Wi-fi icon to a guest (had to chuckle at that one) or walk over to hand dice to a guest who wants to play a board game... all alone?

The maid, on the other hand, has to vacuum rooms several times during & after the guests, she has to pick up & return dry cleaning items, bring them extra linens, or plaid blankets...to make matters worse, she has to water the dang plants every single day, one minute they are doing perfectly fine, the next, they are brown, droopy, and losing leaves!

After each level you get to upgrade the Hotel, some items add an extra item to serve (board games, wifi, water, etc.) My only complaint was that none of the items came with descriptions to explain what they do, such as make customers happy, etc.

The Collector's Edition supposedly has 6 Wallpapers, Concept Art, 10 Bonus Levels, and 10 Upgrades. As I said, the only CE extra's I found was 6 Wallpapers in the Extra's Tab, there was a Collector's Edition banner on the top but nothing happened when I clicked on it.

If you need game help or have a tip to share, hike on over to my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net
I recommend this game!

Completed Game in approximately 5 hours
24 Main Game Scene Locations +17 Bonus Chapter
Difficulty Range: Beginner...always is
The King has fallen ill and is in desperate need of my help because I am the best Inspector of the Supervision Department of Magic ...for the entire Kingdom! (don't laugh, it's a pretty big department) I know what you're thinking, this sounds like a self-appointed, bogus exploitative position, but I can assure you that I take my Royal Magic Inspections seriously. I inspect the heck out of magic, no magic slips past this Inspector's cracks, not on my Inspector Watch. Albeit Dark Magic, Light Magic, Ceremonial Magic, Conjuring Magic, Hocus Pocus Magic, Blair Witch Magic, Wand-waving Hermione Magic, White Witch trapped under the house Magic, even Nose-twitching Samantha Stevens Magic is a Magic I'm prepared to Inspect to the fullest extent! I'd better get a move-on, this Magic ain't gonna Magically Inspect itself!
Collectibles/Morphing Objects (CE version only)
Once again, Do Games (I can't take this new co. name seriously, doh!) copy/pasted the collectible's feature from a previous game because when you go to the CE Extra's menu it has a category for Magic Flowers. When you click on the Magic Flowers feature it shows the silhouettes for 15 Bracelets?? Once you start the game, however, the collectible's tab states that they are indeed Magic Bracelets, not Magic Flowers?
There are also 15 Morphing Royal Household items and 70 Zoom Zone Vials of Potion to purchase 15 Curio Cabinet Items. The "curio cabinet" doesn't look like a curio cabinet, it looks like a shelf in a closet, so this is probably a typo as well?? Speaking of typos, page 45 on the SG tells us to PLAT an HOP. I'm pretty sure my Magic Inspection skills don't qualify me to plat anything, especially an HOP?
I'd also like to ask a question: (possible SPOILER ALERT)
Who at Do Games thought any of these purchase options would interest the player...any player? A saddle, a diadem, a pair of hunting boots, a falcon hood, a pair of gloves, a snuff box, a leather notebook, a saucepan, a scroll, a dagger, a feather duster, a portrait of the Kingdom's founder, a hunter's whistle, and a bottle of some sort that also states it is a hunter's whistle (in other words, another typo) Seriously! Isn't the point to create excitement in the player so they will keep playing in anticipation of their next purchase? Is anyone going to get excited over purchasing a feather duster, a used saucepan, or a snuff box, let alone an ugly painting of the Kingdom's founder??? Would anyone in their right mind proudly display any of these items in a Curio Cabinet? END SPOILER ALERT
Hidden Object Scenes:
The first Hidden Object Scene couldn't have been located in a more uninteresting location... within my infamous Wooden Inspector's Cabinet...BUT WAIT, there's more! The next scene has a small Zoom Zone where I am tasked with finding the handle, base, and prongs of a wooden pitchfork via Silhouetted Shapes. Good luck finding these parts because the scene is literally so dark that it is impossible to actually see the objects. (just click on every spot till ya get 'em all) Surely, this must be the Dark Magic I'm here to Inspect? (after platting an HOP, of course) A short while later, after breaking a few keys, and digging up objects buried in a dirt pile and at the bottom of a hay bale, Do adds a Slider Bars throwback variant just in case you were beginning to doze off! BTW: my Inspector-senses led me to believe someone had hidden these items in the dirt...told you I was the best Inspector of the Supervision Department of Magic!
Alternate Match 3 Game:
There is an alternate Match 3 Game available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene. The M3's still don't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly because you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match and they are the same boards with the same tiles used in every Do Game!
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Ironically, in this Bonus Chapter prequel, the King's son is poisoned while toasting his return to the Kingdom...this would be a good time to invest in some Royal Cup-Bearers (food & drink testers for Royalty) There are 8 additional Mini-Games and 5 additional Hidden Object Scenes that take place over 17 additional scene locations. You will continue searching for the final 6 Morphing Royal Household Items, 3 Magic Bracelets, and 15 Zoom Zone Vials of Potion allowing you to purchase the final items for the Curio Cabinet, saving the best for last...the feather duster!
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 34 Movie Video Cutscenes, 39 Achievements, 17 Replayable Mini-Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, Extra Side Tasks/Quests available throughout the Main Chapters (choose by selection the side task on conversation bubbles when available) 15 Morphing Royal Household Items. 15 Magic Bracelets, and 70 Zoom Zone Vials of Potion used to purchase 15 Curio Cabinet items, 6 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced
King Arthur has summoned the Court Magician to save Queen Guinevere who was stricken with an unknown illness. The Queen's only hope lies within the Holy Grail, an artifact capable of granting eternal life. The Holy Grail is protected with a powerful medallion, it's key divided into three sections and given to the Guardians of three different worlds. Your wizardly quest takes you on a harrowing journey to the world of Druids, the Icy Magicians World, and the Water World to save your Queen!
Collectibles/Morphing Objects:
There are 52 Collectible Potion Bottles that are pretty hard to miss, but I can't say the same for the 40 Morphing Objects. The objects morph slowly between two different objects that are very similar so they can be quite challenging to spot. I haven't been this pleased with a morphing object in a very long time!
Gadgets/Helpers:There are no Helpers but there is an Amulet Gadget that eventually holds 3 different Magic Runes, beginning with the Rune of Light. This gadget is used a total of 15 times throughout the game.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There is a good variety of Hidden Object Scenes, such as Listed Item Finds, Symbol Finds, Progressive-Interactive Finds, Finding & Replacing Pictured Items back into the scene, and even Silhouetted Shape Finds. You will have to recheck the HO scenes as they are usually repeated with a different variety.
Mini-Games:The mini-games are mostly quick puzzles such as rotating & swapping torn fragments, Repeating Sequences, Moving tokens in a specific pattern, or moving tokens along a track to its color-coded slot.
Collector's Edition Extra's:
10 Wallpapers, 20 Movie Cutscene Videos, 6 Music Soundtracks, 15 Achievements, 52 Collectible Potion Bottles, 40 Morphing Objects, 6 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

The BF synopsis says "The newest Paint By Numbers collection is here to inspire your creative side!" What game should we have this developer play to "inspire" his creative side? With every new Paint by Numbers game released, I'm certain the images will be more "inspiring" than the previous game because surely this developer has noticed the shift from 5-Star reviews to multiple reviews with a single Star rating? Surely, this developer has read our reviews to try to pinpoint what mistakes were made...inspirationally speaking, of course!

This is a painting game, therefore, the selected images and color choices are critical, if these 2 aspects are missing, the game becomes worthless! If this was a HOPA game, you could get by with a mediocre storyline as long as the graphics are amazing or the features are entertaining. If this was a Time Management game, you could get by with less than stellar graphics as long as the time management aspects are fun to play. If it's a Painting Game, there isn't a secondary aspect, it doesn't have puzzles or hidden object scenes, and it doesn't have a story to distract the player from the focal point of "painting by numbers". A painting game can get by with the most basic of features...if the images are interesting and the color choices have curb appeal...this game has neither!

Most of the images are tiny pictures within a circle in the middle of the page, why would you not choose an image that includes the background as well? Some of the images are coloring book images for toddlers, is the developer trying to reach an audience that can't yet write a review?

Even when you do come across an image that finally looks appealing and appears to have plenty of detail, you soon realize that the colors are dreadfully boring. Apparently, this developer is fond of tan, orange, and greens...all of which are shades you see in magazines showing a 1960's house with yellow and green appliances!

The colors are always beautiful in The Woods! Join me at my new forum where you can find or share gaming tips and even create your own pixel art: thewoodsforum.boards.net ☯

Once Again, these pictures have nothing to do with "detectives" or a crime. Speaking of pictures, on the last game I had issues with the arrows that wouldn't scroll past page 5. They clearly used the same glitchy format because I had this issue once again! No matter what I did at that point, the arrows would not take me back to anything before page 6 on every box! Maybe this game has a detective theme after all...The case of the missing puzzles...dun-dun-duuuunnnn
There are Achievement Trophies to earn and a Top Scores leaderboard. There are no options to access any of those features to find out what achievements you are striving to achieve. You can save your puzzle's progress but you can't save the completed puzzle image nor can you download the image as a screensaver or wallpaper, you can't even admire the completed image because they disappear immediately.
There is a box to store extra pieces, but there are no options to categorize, label, or sort these stored pieces, nor is there an option to fetch or retrieve certain pieces because you can't sort and label these stored pieces. The current sort option simply scrambles the pieces supposedly to the correct area, such as the top, bottom, right, or left side.
There is an option to post a Pictured Image of the puzzle you are working on, allowing you to choose three different sizes (x1, x2, or x3) You can also opt to Ghost the Image on the Background (the puzzle is assembled on top of the ghosted image) It doesn't, however, give you the option to choose the Opaqueness of the Ghosted Image to make the image more or less visible, depending on how difficult you want the puzzle assembly to be. The "ghosted image isn't "ghosted" it's simply a large, stationary picture.
There is an available Magnifying Glass to enlarge sections and a Hint feature in case you get stumped. You can easily become "stumped" because the puzzle connection tabs connecting two pieces together, never appear as an actual match (the tab on puzzle piece A looks nothing like the opening in puzzle piece B) most of the time the colors don't even appear to match up because they are using cheap software.
You can also choose the Resolution, opt for a single Custom Cursor (a tiny cursor at that!) or change the color of the background to a pastel shade of Pink, Green, Blue, or Gray. Even though they are pastels, these basic color options tend to be too dark with most of the puzzles, so being able to adjust the intensity of the background colors at the very least, makes sense, doesn't it?
Any Puzzle can be modified with Size options, the Shape of the puzzle pieces, and whether or not you want the pieces to Rotate, but even then, it's not optimized to allow you to assemble a puzzle much bigger than 300 pieces. A 300 Piece Puzzle purchased off the shelf would be labeled for ages +5 years old and up! There's an old jigsaw meme that says "I just completed a puzzle in one week and the box says 2-5 years"...great motto for Jigsaws by this developer, eh?
Just put this glitchy puzzle in the rearview mirror and drive on over to The Woods Forum where I guarantee you will have more fun! thewoodsforum.boards.net

Paris is hosting the 1899 World Exposition but someone from the exposition seems to be deliberately creating havoc and chaos which is causing Parisians to flee the city in massive groves. Is this the work of a madman or is it an exhibition gone wrong?
Collectibles/Morphing Objects:
There are 24 Collectible Ghost Cards and 24 Morphing Light bulbs that allow you to complete a Rotating Disc Rings puzzle upon completion. There is a pull-out tab that keeps track of all collectibles and morphs in each scene.
Gadget/Helper:
As a Detective, you have two Gadgets at your disposal, a Journal to collect Evidence which is done in the form of photos of the suspects or characters in question pertaining to the story. At the end of each chapter, you will go over the journal evidence by playing a repetitive mini-game where you drag the photos from the top of the page to the blank sentences to fill in the gaps of the story with an actual name. This EVIDENCE JOURNAL is used 5 times during the main game and once during the CE Bonus Chapter.
The second Gadget is an EYE DEDUCTION or conclusion of the evidence you have put together. This is done in the form of a repetitive and simplistic Hidden Object Scene where you are tasked with finding 4 or 5 listed objects in the scene that recreates the scene of the crime, followed by a reenactment video clip. This eye deduction gadget is used 5 times during the main game and 1 time during the CE Bonus Chapter.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 21 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter, including the repetitive Hidden Object Scene associated with the Eye Deduction Gadget (used 5 times in the main game and 1 time in the CE Bonus Chapter) The HO scenes were just okay, some of them were actually kind of boring and the items were very easy to spot. There are Interactive List Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Descriptive Word Finds, Finding & Replacing Item Finds, and _+_=? Finds. The Eye Deduction Gadget HO is a very simplistic and repetitive HOP where you are tasked with finding 4 or 5 pieces of evidence in the scene to corroborate the story.
Mini-Games:
There are 30 Mini-Games +10 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Because there is an Evidence Journal Gadget, you will play a repetitive mini-game (5 times in the main game and 1 time in the CE Bonus Chapter) where you place photos of characters into the sentences of the journal logically. You can't go wrong with this game, you can basically drag the photos anywhere close to the correct sentence and it will be accepted, so you technically don't even need to read the sentences! Most of the mini-games are super easy to solve and nothing more than a time-filler, quicky-puzzle.
Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
Detective Agatha has a ghostly case to solve in the Dark City when exhibits suddenly come to life! There are 10 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes which include the Evidence Journal Mini-Game and Eye Deduction Hidden Object Scene, Gadget scenario. You will continue searching for the final 7 Ghost Cards and 7 Morphing Light bulbs which allow you to play a Rotating Disc puzzle when completed.
Collector's Edition Extra's

What happens when a habitual gambler and Fortuna, the goddess of luck combine forces? Odds are, it's probably a debt that's impossible to pay off! Clearly, everyone realizes that this is just another Dark Romance game. Why did Do Games rename all their old series and pretend they are new? Why did BF feel the need to revamp the old "working" system with a new "horribly broken" system that everyone hates?...follow the money (it probably leads to UNFORTUNA the goddess of bad fortune!)

AUDIO & GRAPHICS:
The graphics didn't seem as detailed as I've come to expect from Do Games, and the lip-sync wasn't even close to what the characters were saying. The story seems very similar to Deck of Fates, which makes me wonder if there isn't an old MHG employee in the mix.
GADGETS & HELPERS:
There is a Gadget Feature where you will switch between playing Beatrice and Franz which is identical to the Dark Romance series.
COLLECTIBLES & MORPHING OBJECTS:
The Collectibles haven't changed, well technically, the names have been changed to 15 Morphing Decorations, 15 Puppets, and 70 Cards which are used to purchase 15 items for your Dress Circle...which is nothing more than 15 boring furniture pieces jammed together in a 12" vertical area...see for yourself, it's an awkward room with offerings you could care less about!
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES:
The Hidden Object Scenes varied with Interactive Lists, Silhouetted Shapes, and Keywords in Sentences. I don't mind the HO styles they offer, I just wish they would be more creative with the locations, how many times have they been inside a closet, inside a chest, or sitting on a table? Can't they choose something more interesting, something more colorful? If they are too boring you can always opt to play the same exact Match 3 levels, but seriously, why do they never change the M3 board layouts OR the icons?

MINI-GAMES:
The Mini-games were actually decent, they weren't really new but at least they had some interesting selections. I like the Cog puzzle where you had to swap cogs to create an image, and I also liked coloring the picture without having 2 identical colors adjacent in the sections.
BONUS CHAPTER (CE version)
Can Franz solve the mystery of The Phantom of the Opera and save Beatrice before it's too late? This is a slightly above-average length bonus chapter with 10 scene locations and an additional 4 Hidden Object Scenes, and 8 mini-games. You'll continue searching for the final 3 Morphing Decorations, 4 Puppets, and 9 Cards that allow you to purchase the final items for your Dress Circle
COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRA'S:
The Collector's Edition version has 13 Wallpapers. 15 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 33 Video Movie Cutscenes, 39 Achievements, 16 re-playable Mini-games, 17 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Decorations, 15 Puppets, and 70 Cards which are used to purchase 15 items for your Dress Circle, a Bonus Chapter, and a built-in Strategy Guide.

I was one of the few people who seemed to like First Time In Paris which ended up with a measly 2.9 average rating. I thought the storyline was somewhat interesting and the HO scenes were located in some fairly appealing locations. I wasn't expecting First Time In Rome to knock my socks off, but wow, this was one boring game with some of the most unappealing HO scenes imaginable...the first scene takes place in the corner of a room (supposedly an office) with a table, a chair, a tiny shelf, and a potted plant. Most of the objects on the list were clipart sketches etched on the wall. One of the interactive tasks required me to find & place a dollar bill into the wallet which was located on the ceiling...wtflyingpig?
There are 4 modes of difficulty, Easy-Medium-Hard, and Custom which allows you to set the Hint & Super Hint Recharge from 1-60 seconds, enable/disable misclick penalty, as well as locking mini-game pieces.
Each Hidden Object Scene has a Hidden Question Mark (?) that unlocks a Fun Fact. You can replay levels to get a new fun fact if desired (5 Total per scene) Although a few items move around each time you replay the scene, the tasks are always the same, and the HO mode is always the same so by the time you replay the scene a couple of times, you will be bored out of your mind.
There are about 12 Listed Items, Scrambled Word Lists or Pictured items to find on each level, none of which are particularly hidden. Most items are just out in the open and easily spotted. I also noticed that there is more than 1 item that could be considered the same category, for example, the giant red fire alarm "bell" was not the "bell" they were looking for!
After playing a Hidden Object Scene you will play a mini-game such as Rotating Squares or Swapping Strips to complete the image. One of the puzzles required finding the exact location on the image that matches the Swatch and some of those areas were literally solid black!
This Collector's Edition has 18 Achievements, 12 Wallpapers, 11 Soundtracks, 38 Photo Journal pictures, Re-playable Mini-games, Fun Facts, an Unlimited Play Mode, and 6 Bonus Chapters.

I love the hexagonal cells offered in this series, it's a unique feature that adds just the right amount of challenge to this Match 3 game. My only complaint is that the graphics seem to be getting worse, especially when it comes to the "building" feature. That particular screen was blocky and missing sections. I went back to #3 Athens and the building scene was super detailed and very realistic but maybe it's just a compatibility issue with my large 38" curved screen?
You can play in a Relaxed Mode without a Timer, a Normal Timed Mode, or an Advanced Mode with shorter time limits. There are 52 Achievements to earn and there are 84 Seals to find before the start of some levels which will unlock the Sipher of the King of Eyes.
Large Chain matches will reward you with Gold Coins that can be included with any preceding Chains of any tile type as long as there are at least 2 other matching tiles. Gems & Laurels are collected by dropping them off the honeycomb-shaped board, dropping keys to the bottom will unlock parts of the board that are unavailable. Flowers and Hearts are collected by making adjacent matches, and you can travel back & forth, via portals, to a hidden board.
Power-ups will appear on the board such as Amphora Bombs and directional Lightning Bolts, which are activated when you include them within a Chain Match. Other power-ups such as Poseidon, will shuffle the tiles, once you select the Icon on the top-left of the board (requires recharging after each use) Winged Tiles will reveal hidden sections of the board, once they are activated by including in a chain.
Adjacent matches are required to dissipate Dark Storm Clouds, Ropes, and Chains which require including the blocked tile with at least two identical tiles. Stone Monoliths can only be removed when you include the tile with the same symbol on each monolith, and Steel Monoliths can't be removed.
