Ever read a book that was so captivating, it felt like you were actually there? They say the classics never die, but are they ever rewritten? Crazy things happen at the stroke of midnight, ghostly visitations frequently occur, as they seek your help righting the wrongs they have endured in the afterlife. This time it's different, this time it's evil. Washington Irving was a famous writer, a ghostwriter who wrote several classics under a different name. Several characters from his books began to pay him a visit, his imagination had come to life, but not everyone was happy with their characters demise! Surely his good friend Charles Dickens, was experiencing similar situations, so he asked Charles for his help...and was never seen since! It is Charles' young daughter who is seeking your paranormal services to find out what happened to her father that fateful night. Enter the scenes of these classic literature adventures, page by page, as you search for clues written by the authors themselves, and stop this evil character before the classics are forever rewritten!
The Midnight Mysteries series are classics themselves, some diehard fans were a bit disappointed with the changes the new devs made in the last MM. Personally, I see a huge difference in the quality of the graphics, for the better, crisp, clear and more detailed than before. This game has had yet another tweak, that I wasn't thrilled about, the Ravens! The two features I loved most, within the MM's, were the hidden four leafed clovers (56 in this Collectors Edition) and the hidden Ravens you had to find to receive additional hints. The hidden Ravens are GONE! Instead, you collect 45 Raven Coins, that are impossible to miss as they glitter and shine so brightly you practically have to wear sunglasses! Why would you change a feature that has been iconic in a successful series???? With that complaint out of the way (doesn't affect the game's story or mechanics either way) this game also has a pet Raven that waits patiently for your command to fly to unreachable locations and retrieve those objects that mysteriously got there in the first place. Some of the inventory items require some type of interaction before you can use that item such as combining two inventory items together.
The Hidden Object Scenes range from interactive list finds to progressive silhouetted shapes where you find the first item and use that item to uncover the next item and so forth until all items have been found. The mini games are nice, rearranging books on two different bookshelves, the first row requires you to match symbols on the binders so that the last symbol on the first book matches up to the first symbol on the second book etc. The second shelf has books with sections of a picture that you arrange to complete a picture. My favorite game was using several tetris shaped tiles to fill in all empty spaces around an existing shape in the middle of the board without leaving any gaps.
This Collectors Edition has Before And After sketches, which was awesome to see the original rough draft sketch of a scene in the game, then the same sketch in color and finally the computer generated picture! There are Achievements to earn, Cutscenes, Music, the Backstory, Characters, Wallpapers, Tic-Tac-Toe raven games, 56 hidden Clovers, 45 (not so) hidden Raven Coins, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. Both editions allow you to choose which mode of difficulty you want to play the game, as well as a Custom setting where you choose which features you want, I thought it was clever that they used a new hatchling raven for Beginner, a young raven for Advanced, and a mature and wise raven for Expert, the Custom setting just had gears and a raven skull (what's that mean?) Enjoy!
I recommend this game!

WOW! A vampire hunter shot and nearly killed Count Dracula! Left for dead, everyone presumed the creature of the night was no longer a threat, everyone that is except for his loyal servant, Igor, (I thought he was working for Dr. Frankenstein?) who knew the Count was merely unconscious! Igor waited patiently for his master to awaken, and is eager to assist Dracula, as he seeks revenge upon the man who nearly took his life, Van Helsing! Count Dracula has been asleep for a very long time, and his abilities are weak, can he regain his strength before the frightened citizens turn on him?
I must admit, I wasn't expecting much from a four year old game, but Happy Birthday to me, it's an awesome game! What unique features, not to mention that you are playing from the vampires perspective not the vampire hunters or even a victim! When you first begin this game you will notice an ability meter with empty icons indicating that you have no abilities.....yet. Eventually you will regain your strength by feeding, on blood naturally! You must decide how you want to obtain the blood, when you encounter a human victim, you are given the choice to feed on the victim which will turn the victim into a vampire as well. Choose wisely, if you choose yes, you will not be given the opportunity to play an extra HOS which will allow you to collect the blood anyway. Eventually you will have 4 abilities, VAMPIRIC VISION which allows you to materialize objects invisible to the naked eye, STRENGTH which will allow you to lift or break heavy objects, TELEKINESIS which allows you to reach out-of-reach objects, ANIMAL FORM allows you to shift into different shapes to access different places.
The Hidden Object Scenes are listed items with no interactions, but the items are well hidden. The mini games are going to be different degrees of difficulty, depending on which mode of difficulty you choose under your profile set up page at the beginning. One game I found unique was moving a Dracula token towards his victim in a hedge maze, BUT, as soon as you start to move the token, the screen turns black and you must try to move the token by memory, if you hit the sides of the hedges more than 6 times you must start over!
This Collectors Edition has 33 Achievements that you can continue to achieve by replaying the game in either mode. The extra gameplay will only be available after you complete the game in the regular mode. The Extras will unlock after you complete the entire game as well, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Europe 1610, already half of the Hungarian Territory has been conquered. The war weary King cannot concern himself with the disappearance of several young women, even if one of those women is the daughter of a wealthy Lord! Out of desperation, Lord Istvan seeks the help of a Gypsy "finder" when his daughter, Agnes was invited to sing and play for Countess Bathory, but disappeared without a trace! Your gypsy skills are helpful, but what you learn about the Countess is unimaginable, horrifying.....almost too horrifying to speak the truth, that is, IF you survive!
Because you are a Gypsy and Finder, you will have all the equipment you need, stored neatly in your wagon. Throughout the game you will find seed packages conveniently placed in conspicuate places. You will need to plant those seeds in your herb garden which is inside of your wagon. Once those seeds are placed in the correct containers, you simply water the plants and watch them magically mature within seconds. You will snip off part of the herb and that sprig will automatically be stored in your herbarium, to be used in various potions you may need. When you have all ingredients, you place those items onto the board, along with the empty vial, add water stir, and pour into the vial, voila, it's ready for use! You can access the gypsy wagon via the icon located to the right of the inventory bar. Some of the inventory items you find will need further action before using, such as combining that item with another item, as indicated by a plus sign.
The Hidden Object Scenes are a mixture of list finds as well as silhouetted shapes, some of the items in your inventory bar may need to be used by toggling back and forth between the inventory list and the task list. Your Gypsy skills include psychic abilities, whenever you come across a piece of evidence, your seeing ability will access a jumbled up picture in the form of a mini game. The picture requires you to slide sections either vertically or horizontally until you complete the picture, which reveals pertinent information and clues to help solve this case. I wish there were more mini games available, but they are far and few between, and very easy, such as sliding a gold token along a stitched path making sure you pass every button until you reach the designated button.
The Collectors Edition was more entertaining in my opinion because of the Morphing Tarot cards available in each scene, but it doesn't have any effect on the game either way. There are Achievements to earn, Wallpapers, Screensavers, Concept Art, Music, collectible Tarot Cards, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter as well. I loved the simplistic, yet detailed graphics, with vibrant colors and crisp definitions, happy vamp hunting, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

I was expecting an adventure game within a cemetery, instead I got a cartoon comic strip of dialog to explain the Dr. Lynch is a skeptic who debunks just about any mysterious story. To make matters more disappointing, the locations that you search for hidden objects, are bright cheery and sunny scenes.
You choose which area you want to search in such as the dig site, and then you will be transported to that scene where a Hidden Object list will appear as a list form. If you use a hint to find an item, the next HO will allow you to earn another hint with an optional quest, such as 6 cuckoo's which need to be clicked on as soon as they pop out of one of the clocks in the scene. There will be clues you will come across that will be stored in Dr. Lynch's briefcase so that you can review the evidence at any time (which also stops the HOS timer) You will collect Clue cards with information about each character you meet as well. There are mini games and puzzles to complete, simply but fun, collecting color coded keys and placing them in their color coded keyhole, then using the number clues you set each key at either the 3-6-9 or 12 position.
This isn't a bad game, if you want mostly hidden object scenes. Some items are incredibly small which makes it difficult to recognize, and there is a misclick penalty of 20 seconds added to the clock. I loved the optional hint games and found myself using a hint just so it would be available for me, enjoy!

Archaeologists have accidentally awakened the legendary Titans, in Athen's Greece! Looks like your peaceful vacation will be more exciting than you anticipated, an eclipse that wasn't supposed to occur, massive earthquakes that swallow up entire vehicles and a giant Titan bent on revenge is the least of your problems! The Gods have deemed you worthy enough (because apparently you were the only one who could solve the mini game) to receive the Amulet of Time, which will allow you to travel through time itself, between ancient Greece and Modern Greece, seeking the help of Gods long forgotten. Time hasn't been kind to the Gods, modern Grecians no longer worship their powerful Gods, and they have weakened over time. Can the Gods defeat the Titans once again, or will the Titans thirst for revenge destroy everything and everyone in their path?
Who doesn't love a good story based upon the Olympian Gods of Greece? The mythical twelve Gods and Goddesses that once ruled the universe from atop Mount Olympus, must return after hundreds of years of dormancy. Zeus, was the Leader of Mt. Olympus, who overthrew his father, Kronos, the leader of the Titans, his wife was Hera, and they became the King and Queen, and ruler of the gods. Poseidon, was the god of the sea, Hades was the god of the dead (sounds like a dead end job), Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty, Apollo the god of music, Ares the god of war, Artemis the goddess of the hunt and protector of women during childbirth, Athena the goddess of wisdom, Hephaestus the god of fire, Hestia the goddess of the hearth (doesn't sound very impressive) , Hermes the messenger god, Demeter the goddess of the harvest, and Dionysus was the god of wine (now that's a job!) I have always loved stories about these gods, so I thought I would list the Greek Gods because they are often confused with Roman gods, who simply have different names for these gods (Zeus=Jupiter)
Your Amulet of Time gives you the unique ability to travel back in time, to the same place, hundreds of years ago. Several portals are located throughout the game which activate the Amulet. WARNING: there are 21 Collectible Statues, some of which are in the portals, and you may not be able to return to that area so make sure you look for them before you exit the portal. The Strategy Guide claims that they are morphing objects, however, I didn't see any of the statues morph no matter how long I looked at them. There are also 16 Achievements to earn for not skipping puzzles or not using the hint icon during the Hidden Object Scenes for example.
The Hidden Object Scenes are mostly interactive list finds, but there are some scenes where all of the listed items require an interaction such as finding one object to use such as a knife, to cut open a chair to expose the next object. There are some scenes that require you to find several groups of items that resemble a shape shown such as 6 strawberries and 2 potatoes. You can choose an alternate Match 3 game instead of the HOS. The mini games were entertaining, not frustrating, such as placing several items randomly placed in each scene as a story is narrated and you put the items in the correct places to continue with the story. My favorite puzzle requires you to swap red, blue and green tiles with 1/2 of a gem, in one, two or three different placement directions, so that all of the same color tiles connect to each other when all of the gems match up.
This Collectors Edition has 16 Achievements, 21 Collectible Statues (possibly morphing) Wallpapers, Music, Videos, Mini Games, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, may the gods be with you, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

This game was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting a boring outdated game, but instead I found the game to be entertaining with an unusual perspective connecting your dreams to reality. Hazel has been having nightmares since the death of her father so she seeks the help of a dream therapist. The doctor put's Hazel into a hypnotic trance and tells her to return to the mansion where she lived until her mother died. What her inner mind discovers in that mansion is the truth.....the shocking truth!
Each room of the mansion has a Hidden Object Scene. Most of them are list finds but there are also silhouetted shapes as well as returning items you have found into the scene where they belong logically. There are several mini games, again I was impressed, all of them are fun! My favorite games were "Spot the Difference" where you have a split screen with mirrored images, and you click on 10 differences you spot from one picture to the other.
I have played games before that dealt with an anguished person seeking medical help for recurrent nightmares, but the manner in which they tie the nightmares into the HOS in this game were very interesting. Keep an open mind and try it for yourself, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

Evil has encroached upon the Valley of the Nefflings, destroying everything in it's path, the grass, the flowers and even the trees themselves, nothing more than ash and dust! The Nefflings need your help to stop the evil and help nature revitalize their once beautiful home!
This is a match 3 game that has the same features as a free to play game. You are given tasks to complete from various characters and animals, and then once you accept the task you will be taken to the correct area such as the Berry Patch, to play a Match 3 game. Each Match 3 game has colorful tiles that look like globs' of jello, and you must complete the game within a specific amount of moves and earn 3 stars. Some of the tiles are frozen, some are stone, some are chained, my favorite were the tiles that have vines and with each move, the vines would spread to other cells! You will earn bonuses on the board when you make matches of 4 or five such as lightning which clears a line horizontally or vertically and if you make a match of two crossing lines you receive a bomb that explodes and clears all adjacent tiles. You can replay any level or purchase 5 additional moves if you run out of moves before completing the level.
With the money you earn, you can purchase bonuses such as Magic Boots which gives you additional moves, Magic Beads that double the counter value on a bomb, Vanadius' Mixer which randomly shuffles the tiles, Seriamus's Staff which removes a selected single tile, Jinnan's Lightning which creates a vertical and horizontal bolt of lightning, a Thumb pointer to move a specific chip in any direction, a Spare Key to add another chest key to the board, a Burning Chip to melt ice tiles, and even a Brush to repaint all chips from one color to another! There are also achievements to earn and a ton of other tools and amulets to purchase for random energy, four leaf clovers to add a little more luck to the game and even baskets of acorns to feet hungry pigs before they eat the roots and kill all the trees.
The Match 3 game itself isn't bad, the other activities are mundane, and take up too much time, very monotonous. The Match 3 game itself seemed to be flawed as well. It is difficult to earn 3 stars unless you use each and every available move, for instance, if you have 20 available moves to complete the level, and it only takes you 15 moves to complete the tasks, you won't earn enough points to fill the meter up to the third star level! I also found it better to replay the level from the beginning rather than buy extra moves because you run out of moves because there aren't any chips to match in the first place!

Ever play one of those games that are so frustrating you cannot stop playing it? This is one of those games, 5 starting lives isn't enough, so you find yourself starting over and over, learning from your mistakes as you progress just a little further each time. Just like the original space invaders, you must defend your planet from space invaders, the vicious Chickens! The Chicken invaders have unique weapons and defenses, the hens lay eggs that will completely obliterate your spaceship should you take a direct hit or even if you mistakenly broadside a falling egg. When you blast the full grown chickens, they will reward you with delicious chicken legs and even whole roasted chickens, which can only be collected when your spaceship runs over them, which isn't always easy when the egg bombs are everywhere! There are also keys to collect, burgers, presents and weapon upgrades to snag. There are several achievements available and a high score leader board that will list all of your top scores (and the scores of other players on your computer)
The options are vast, starting with the fact that you can choose the method you want to use to control your spaceship and weapons, your keyboard, your mouse, and even TOUCHSCREEN! The best feature in my opinion, is that you get to customize your spaceship, as you progress you will unlock backgrounds and even more spaceship upgrades. For starters, you will choose the base color of the spaceship, the color of the cockpit, and the color of the engine flames both inner and outer. There are several colors and shades to choose from and you will unlock paint options for the fuselage, the weapons pod, the tail wing, and even the density and shininess of the spaceship!
In my opinion, this is a very addicting game that would be awesome on your phone as well. The graphics have come a long way since the days of Space Invaders, not to mention the fact that the mouse has greatly improved our ability to control the spaceship. Give it a try, but be warned, you're gonna get hooked on this comical chicken invading game, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

After playing both versions, I believe this Standard Edition is probably the better value, unless you simply must have all the extra bling and Strategy Guide available in the Collectors Edition. This is a recap of my original review of the Collectors Edition so that you can easily choose between the two versions.
This isn't a Mystery of Another World, this is Reel Life! Nestled high above The Soaring City lies the Pantheon, a gothic building surrounded by majestic gargoyles. Four friends unknowingly volunteer to roll the dice in the Game of Gods, a deadly game! Alice Russell was running 20 minutes late, but the game waits for no one, by the time Alice arrives it's already too late for Jim and Kevin, they are already deeply engaged in this life changing game. It's Maggie's turn to roll the dice, "I have no choice, I must roll the dice!" In the blink of an eye, Maggie is dragged off into a surreal jungle by an axe wielding maniac! If you want to save your friends, you too must roll the dice, choose your pawn wisely, Mage, Farmer, Hunter, Blacksmith, Scientist, Noble, or Pilgrim, each has it's own unique quality! The player who reaches the end alive will save himself/herself and all other players, but I've a feeling this game isn't designed for winning. Scream all you'd like Alice, nobody outside this realm will hear you! Once she is buried alive, HELP will be the Noise she Couldn't Make! (didn't think I could do it eh?)
I have to give kudos to whomever is responsible for the script here, simply wicked! The game starts out a bit slow with mundane tasks in the form of a Hidden Object Scene where you pack your purse, enter your password into the laptop and print off documents. Alice must survive because she is being interrogated by a Detective, or could this be part of the game? Once Alice rolls the dice, hold on tight, the game definitely improves. You will collect two flowers in each scene, (Collectors Edition only) one white one red, in typical Surface tradition and you can use those flowers to decorate your humble abode with items of various flower counts. You will also find collectible statuettes of the different characters (Collectors Edition). Some of the inventory items are Complex Objects which simply means that that item requires some sort of interaction before it can be used.(this feature is available in both versions)
The Hidden Object Scenes were extremely varied, so just to name a few, there are scenes where you find multiples of items such as 3 goblets and 3 swords and each item found will reveal a fragmented piece of the final item, some require you to move two objects at a time which reveals the object you are looking for underneath, as you try to match the two related items such as two whistles, there are also list finds with mini games to complete as well. The mini games were decent too, some are simple puzzle pieces to rotate, some require you to slide tokens along a path to their correct slot, all of the games seem fairly easy yet fun.(HOS and Mini games are the same in both versions)
If you simply must have the Collectors Edition bling, the following is available in the Collectors Edition only. There are Collectible figurines, Collectible Flowers, A Bonus Room (apartment) Achievements, Wallpaper, Screensavers, Concept Art, Music, a built in Strategy Guide and of course a Bonus Chapter, let the games begin, enjoy!
I recommend this game!

This castle is owned by the ancient Hildegard family who has protected humanity from the forces of evil since time immemorial. Recently the castle has been attacked, Sire Aaron Hildegard's brother, Talbot Hildegard has led this attack along with minions of evil! You must equip yourself with various weapons and tools to fight and destroy these minions, Vampires, Witches, Werewolves and even cold blooded killers and rogue agents!
This game is very similar to Dark Manor, so if you don't like Hidden Object games that give you various quests to accomplish by searching the same rooms or locations repetitively, steer clear, otherwise, the graphics are clear and hidden objects are easy to recognize and entertaining to search for. There are so many features in this game that it may seem really complicated at first glance, thankfully there is a really helpful tutorial that will guide you through the main features of the game, step by step.
The first thing you will do is accept a quest from various residents of the castle, these are icons on the left of the screen with exclamation points. The quest will open up to show you all the information you need such as, what the quest is, what your reward will be for that quest, how much experience you will gain, and even which room or location. The next step is to enter that area and search for hidden objects shown on the right side of the screen in either a list form or silhouetted shape, and the scene will either be in the daytime or night which is a dark room with just a flashlight to search with. There are various tools you can purchase to help with the HO's such as a Marmot to stop time for 30 seconds or 60 seconds, a Magnifying Glass which will point to one object or 2, Dynamite which explodes 5 items and even a Golden Flash to increase the size of light during the night scenes. When you are done with the HO scene, you click on Get Rewarded to receive your reward.
Don't forget to rid the castle of those evil minions! Click on the minions to learn what it takes to kill the minion, usually this means you have to pay for the weapon that will destroy that particular minion, again you just click on the rewards that the minion leaves behind. You will occasionally click on the Collections icon to review what items you need or already have in order to complete several different collections or weapons. As you gain experience you will level up, the higher the level, the more locations you will unlock which will make the game less repetitive, so try to stick it out because the game really gets interesting when there are several locations available, enjoy!
I recommend this game!
