I just finished playing today's Travel-themed game, and in my review, I made the comment that the market is over-saturated with Travel-related HOGs. They are basically all the same; they even have the same collectible extras and features. Interestingly, none of the travel HOs push past the 3-star average rating mark, yet many developers continue to stick with this theme!?
I wish BoomZap would scrap the HOGs and go back to making the incredibly unique HOPA games as they did in the past! It is long overdue...Maybe Big Fish has changed their mind after all these years and realizes that we would LOVE to see the release of the long-awaited Otherworld: The Eternal Winter
There are 24 Levels with various HO modes: Standard Listed Items mode, Picture mode, Silhouetted Shapes mode, Missing Vowels mode, Riddles mode, and scenes where you have to find items that seem out of place. There is a single Morphing Object in every scene and two Interactive Tasks per scene, such as "Catch the Butterfly."
Each Hidden Object Scene has a Hidden Key that unlocks a scene-related Fun Fact. If desired, you can replay levels to get a new fun fact (5 keys/fun facts per location, 120 Fun Facts total). Each scene also has a collectible Star that will unlock that specific level in the Unlimited Play mode, 24 Levels total.
After playing three Hidden Object Scenes, a mini-game becomes available, such as placing shaped puzzle pieces of a Bald Eagle or a Paint-by-Numbers variation. As you complete the mini-games in the main game, those mini-games become available for replay in the Subgames tab, 38 mini-games total.

I noticed a significant improvement compared to the series' first game. The game mechanics have improved, and the objects are blended better. The Collectible Stars & Keys, in particular, were way less obvious... as they should be! They are designed to be an added "off-the-list challenge," so this was a smart move on BoomZap's part.

COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRAS:
38 Hidden Object Levels (24 Levels in the SE version) 14 CE Bonus Chapters, 13 Achievements (both versions) 15 Wallpapers, 11 Soundtracks, 50 Re-playable Subgames (38 in the SE version), 5 Fun Facts per level (120 fun facts in the SE version as you find hidden Keys), an Unlimited Play Mode (each HO scene becomes available to replay as you find hidden Stars)
Let's talk about Otherworld: The Eternal Winter and why it was never released :( thewoodsforum.boards.net

@karema..FYI: the Nursery is beside the main workers building & not part of the build popup wheel, which has the kennel option used on the upper level.
This game would be fantastic if it had an in-between difficulty mode with a longer timer! Personally, I have no desire to play a Time Management game in an untimed mode because, for me, that's just playing a game to be playing a game. It's just going through the motions without rhyme or reason if there's no challenge and no way to lose. (this is just a personal preference!)

When I play a TM game, I thoroughly expect to have to replay a level a time or two, but when I can't get a single star on Level Two even when I follow the Strategy Guide, after several attempts, I realize there's no way I'm going to be able to earn all three stars on any of the progressive levels ahead!

I love Strategy-based games, even if it means I have to restart a level multiple times after realizing I didn't queue the tasks in the correct order and won't be able to progress. However, that's not the case with Perfect Getaway. You can play in an Easy or "Normal" Mode of difficulty, but the timer in the Normal Mode is way too short-fused for a game that is so complex. No, it's not complicated; it's just complex, given the fact that you have to pull up a wheel with several building options several times per level.
Once you construct a building, such as a Kitchen, Workshop, Separator, Kennel, or Headquarters, you may literally have to demolish it seconds later and construct a different building option...not to mention the fact that production halts quite often, requiring you to hit the play button to resume production.

Don't get me wrong; I love these complex abilities in a Time Management game. I don't love a game when I'm having difficulty completing these tasks within such a short time frame! When I can't earn a single star on the second level, the game suddenly becomes frustrating...when it should be designed to be fun. This could easily be solved by offering 3 difficulty modes!

The CE version has 7 Wallpaper Skins, 9 Music Soundtracks, 16 Achievements, 50 Main Levels, and 10 Bonus Levels. I strongly suggest opting for the CE version just for the Strategy Guide alone because you're probably going to need it!

I loved the Hangman game that was available after every Hidden Object Scene and would love to see Seven Sails create a Hangman Game (without the HOs) and offer the Trivia games that were available in the Animal Kingdom game in between Hangman levels! There are so many Travel-themed Hidden Object games; they are all basically the same, even though some have better graphics than others. I believe this developer would do well with a series of these niche Word and Trivia games, a genre, I might add, that doesn't have a lot of competition!...this is your wheelhouse @sevensails...roll with it!
In Travel Along 2, I noticed a difference in quality. The scene locations were more appealing, the scenes were less cluttered with a barrage of random objects, and some of the objects were blended into the scenery...or at least in less obvious places.

The Magnifying Glass zoom feature should have been a bit smoother to control. When you click the +Magnifier, the scene zooms in, and as you move the mouse Left & Right or Up & Down, it tends to get stuck and requires a bit of coaxing to get the screen to move when you are near the edges or corners.

I played in the Hard Mode, which has a 3-minute timer. Once again, it doesn't allow you to replay the level! If you run out of time, big red letters appear saying FAILED! Then you are whisked back to the level map, which shows that failed location with a green checkmark that you cannot reopen. I'm pretty sure most people want a chance for redemption until they earn all three stars; no one wants to wait until they complete the entire game just to replay the level!

Each scene has a Passport Stamp and a Morphing Postcard. There is a suitcase at the top of the screen that keeps track of the collectibles, and you can replay the scenes to search for missed collectibles once you complete the game.

After completing a Hidden Object Scene you play a round of Hangman based on various key categories. The Hangman game was way more fun than the HOGs, in fact, I kept playing the HO scenes just so I could get to the Hangman Game!

The last game in this series, Moto-Trip, was a bit too easy for my taste, but this one felt a bit more challenging (after the first few levels). I loved the bright, vibrant colors, and that the completed images were easily recognizable. I would give this game more stars, but like the other four games in the series, it does not save your progress if you can't complete a level for whatever reason!

You can choose from 6 various Tile sets, and there are two different Hint options, one that fills a single random cell and one that fills in a cross-formation (your choice). There are five Locations and 30 puzzles per location. As you complete the levels, you'll earn camping gear sections that must be dragged into the silhouetted shape, which allows you to pitch your tent in that particular location.

Kick off your hiking boots, and pop a squat by the campfire at my new forum. The bears will keep your seat warm till ya get there... thewoodsforum.boards.net

What's up with the popup windows in games by this developer lately? Every game starts with a cutscene that sets up the story, but for some odd reason, a huge popup window appears smack dab in the middle of the screen, with a large arrow bouncing up & down, urging you to pick up a collectible. You can't see the movie video because the popup covers most of the screen. You can't get rid of the popup because, obviously, there's no collectible available to pick up in the cutscene! This same scenario has happened in the last 5 or 6 Do games, even though I customized the difficulty and selected "No Tutorial"
Let's take this annoying glitch one step further. Why is it that every time you earn an Achievement, the popup telling you what you achieved, swooshes on-screen and disappears at lightning speed? Most of the time you'll earn an achievement at the same time a window pops up showing you the Inventory Item you just earned from playing a Hidden Object Scene. The achievement popup window then gets covered up by the popup window for the inventory item you just earned. The achievements either whizzes past you at warp speed, or get's buried under a second popup window, so you're clueless as to which achievements you've just earned unless you go to the Achievements section.
EXTENDED PLAY OPTION:
You will come across conversation options that allow you to choose Extended Gameplay. There will be two conversation options; if you choose the first option, it unlocks a side quest with additional scenes, mini-games, and hidden object scenes. In the last Do Game, there were four additional quests per chapter; however, this time, there is only three total. The first and second chapters each have an Extended Play option, while the third & final chapter does not. The CE Bonus Chapter has one Extended Play option as well. The extended play blends into the story so well that you'd never know it was a side quest if they didn't tell you! I have to give Do Games kudos for that! To be clear, these are optional quests that won't affect the game's story or its outcome.
COLLECTIBLES/MORPHS (CE version only)
This feature has a ton of issues; in fact, there have been issues with the collectibles ever since they added the extended play option to their games. (could be a coincidence?) The issue I had was not being able to access the collectibles or the room to purchase items from any of the associated pull-out tabs. They don't even have an access tab on the map as they did in past games. The only way to open the collectibles is to exit the game and select the CE Extras Tab on the main menu, which is a total inconvenience! Who wants to do this every time you want to purchase a Boudoir Item?
The other issue I came across, (in several of their newest games) is that the collectibles are called something different, depending on where you look. On the CE Extras Tab, they have a section called "Collectibles," which is pretty generic. The tabs in-game call them Mercedes' Jewelry, which, indeed, there are 15 different pieces of jewelry to collect. However, in the CE Extras menu, there is a section called "Morphing Objects" In the game itself, the pull-out Collectibles Tab calls them "Arron's Belongings," and they are definitely filled with 15 manly items, and they do actually morph. The most confusing part is when you click on a Morphing Arron's Belongings collectible, a popup window appears that says, "Congratulations! You've found a Building"...did I miss something? What kind of building is made using a shaving kit or a horse saddle?
There are 15 Morphing Objects, AKA: Arron's Belonging, AKA: buildings, depending on where you look, 15 Collectibles, AKA Mercedes' Jewelry, 15 Boudoir Items, AKA: Makeup Vanity with no boudoir in site, and 64 Zoom Zone Roses, AKA currency. Most of the collectibles are so tiny that they are difficult to spot and darn near impossible to recognize which items they actually are. The Zoom Zone Roses are hidden in the deepest, darkest corners and would totally be overlooked if not for the fact that the zoom zone doesn't close until you collect the blue roses.
HIDDEN OBJECT SCENES:
Do Games sure does know how to pick boring HO locations! It's pretty bad when your spidey senses already know there will be an HO when you finally open that Globe. They had a lot of scenes that were introduced in their newest HOGs where you are tasked with finding three of each listed item, shown three at a time. There was a Silhouetted Shape Combination scene where you had to find the item that would logically make sense if you added this item plus that item...the problem was that all of the final products were a stretch of anyone's imagination because none of them made sense! Most of the scenes are dark, drab, and very unappealing.
ALTERNATE MATCH 3 GAME:
An alternate Match 3 game is available if you don't want to play a Hidden Object Scene. Unfortunately, it's the same M3 game, with the same boards, and the same icons offered in every game. Why not at least change the icons or the M3 type once in a while?...what's it been, 5 years, 10 years with the exact same Match 3 boards?
BONUS CHAPTER: (Collector's Edition only)
There are seven additional Mini-games, and six Hidden Object Scenes in the Bonus Chapter that takes place over nine new scene locations. There is another Extended Play option for additional gameplay. You will continue to search for the final 4 Morphing Arron's Belongings, 4 Mercedes' Jewelry Items, and 9 Roses that are used to purchase the final Boudoir Items.
COLLECTOR'S EDITION EXTRAS (CE version only)
10 Wallpapers, 15 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 30 Movie Video Cutscenes, 42 Achievements, 22 Replayable Mini-Games, 19 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Arron's Belongings, 15 Collectible Mercedes' Jewelry, and 64 Zoom Zone Roses that are used to purchase 15 Boudoir Items, 3 Main Chapters, +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

If you liked the style of HO's in Twistingo you'll definitely love So Much Stuff! This is a new game by one of my favorite developers, Tiny Little Lion, whose motto must be "the quality goes in before the name goes on!"

The Hidden Object Scenes are so unique! Each level category offers two HO variants. The "Sort" HO variant requires you to click on matching pairs of objects until you uncover the collectible fragments, as shown in the bottom left corner. After finding all collectibles, you have the option to continue finding all remaining pairs or move on to the next round.

The "So Much Stuff" HO variant requires you to find multiples of the same objects that are listed on pieces of paper. As you remove these items, you will uncover additional paper lists.

There are two Mini-game variants per category as well, a Shaped Jigsaw and a Tile Swap game variant, such as tile Strips, Squares, Octagonal & Diamond-shaped tiles, and more.

There are several different level themes, Vegetable Garden, Fall Foliage, Sewing, Beach, Clocks & Watches, Traditional Japan, Ancient Greece, Paleontology, Cartography, Classical Music, Kitchen, Geology, Astrology, Calligraphy, Accessory Making, Cameras & Photos, Candy Shop, and China...a little something for everyone!

My only complaint is that this game doesn't seem very CE-worthy, but it will definitely be worth the SE price!

This Collector's Edition version has 18 Main Levels, 8 Bonus Levels, 52 Collectibles that are framed after completing each one, 11 Music Soundtracks, and 18 Wallpapers.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but it doesn't mean they will be picturesque words! It probably doesn't matter how we feel about the game anyway because Modern Art #34 is already available elsewhere. More than likely, there have been no changes to those 21 other versions either, never are, and probably never will be!
Only 942 words to go! Speaking of pictures, why are we expected to purchase a game that only allows us to see the first 8 pictures? Of those 8 pictures, there is a butterfly, a rose, daisies, a fruit pie, a bridge, a fruit arrangement, a lighthouse in the dark, and a mystery fruit...none of which are appealing. Does anyone have a clue as to what the second picture is on the BF synopsis? Are they peaches, nectarines, or rotting oranges?

860 words remaining...Why are the colors used in these games always so ugly? Why are the sections to fill either huge or so tiny you can't find them? Why can't they offer pictures that are more intricate, using several color hues so that the pictures are more appealing...not to mention that every picture can be completed in less than one minute?

Only 796 words left! Why does the completed image disappear the second you fill in the last section...are they hoping you won't notice how unappealing the finished product is if you can't look at it? Why is the custom cursor the size of a quarter, yet you still have to swipe over an area repeatedly to get the color to fill in?

Well, bummer, it looks like these pictures are only worth 278 words!

This game may not have all the bells & whistles of Spellarium, but it is a decent little Match 3 game with very colorful flowers. Spring is just around the corner, and I'm already seeing buds on the trees and flowers struggling to break through the cold hard soil, so it was nice to play such a colorful game.

This is a Limited Moves Match 3 game only! (there are unlimited moves available in the Relaxed Mode). You can play in a Relaxed, Normal, or Hard mode; unfortunately, Moles are only active when playing in the Hard Mode option. The coins earned allow you to clean up and plant flower beds in Lilly's property where she intends to sell flowers (36 builds total)

The goals vary on each level and usually require removing a specified number of specified tiles, such as 20 Daisies, 20 Raindrops, 5 Bouquets, 2 Tree Stumps, and 20 Dirt-covered Cells, as an example. You can select up to three Boosters before starting a level, but you will have to activate them during the game. There are boosters that will add +3 Explosives to the board, remove -3 random weed-covered cells, board shuffles, add +1 moves, and a booster that adds additional coins to the level.

Large matches of four or more tiles will award the player with a Flower-specific Powerup that must then be included in a match 3 to activate. The powerups include Horizontal and Vertical line busters (or both), Bombs and Lightning, which can be matched with any flower to remove all flowers on the board of whichever flower you swapped with.

The game is probably really easy in the Relaxed Mode, but I found myself having to replay several levels in the Hard Mode, but I definitely like the opportunity to whack-a-mole, lol!

I was in a lousy mood this morning but discovered that the Match 3 games by LGT/SIA are so incredible that they can engross the player within seconds of playing their games! It's quite possible they put a spell on me?

What I love about Spellarium is that you can't progress by just mindlessly clicking icons at a break-neck pace...you have to think, strategize, and reassess constantly.

I'm not gonna lie; I use the Hint feature several times on each level. It doesn't tell you what to do; it highlights which obstacle to concentrate on. This is a fantastic feature because the game is so complex!

This is an amazing game with obstacles that will have you playing "just one more level."

Everyone seems to be upset that this is just a HOG because they have grown accustomed to the weekly HOPAs that Do Games spews out. If this was offered by a different developer, would it be okay then? I think it would! We are delighted when a decent HOG is released, such as the "I Love Finding..." series, so the issue isn't that this is a bad HOG; the issue is that it's not a HOPA by Do Games.
Although I didn't see much value in the Collector's Edition version, I did enjoy this game for what it is, a Hidden Object Game with puzzles. If you are willing to overlook the fact that Do Games developed a simple HOG to keep up with the demand, you may enjoy it! After all, they are basically responsible for creating two games a week for Big Fish Games, so if they need to release a few simple games in between their HOPAs which takes a huge amount of production time, I totally get it! How can anyone possibly keep up with releasing a quality HOPA twice a week? The quality is waning on those HOPA games because it's simply impossible to create a decent game at this maddening pace... let's be patient and enjoy the here and now and, hopefully, what's on deck for tomorrow!
There are voiceovers but no lip sync. There is also a story, which is more than most HOGs offer. The Hidden Object Scenes vary with Interactive List Finds, Matching Pairs, Silhouetted Shapes, Combination Finds (this + this = ?), Related Pairs, Matching Swatches, etc. After completing the HO scene, you will earn a Star that is used to decorate six different rooms.
After a few HO levels, you will play a mini-game which can be skipped. I found the mini-games to be superior to any other simple HO game. They are no different than the ones offered in a typical HOPA by Do Games.
The bottom line is that Connection of Worlds is a decent Hidden Object Game. I didn't see the need to purchase the CE version because the only extras you get are 15 Wallpapers, 15 Concept Art pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, and a handful of extra levels. If you like HOGs, this SE version is a good choice.
