fromLighthouses were originally lit with fires using whale oil. In 1782 the Argand lamp was invented which used ground glass, in 1759 they began using interlocking blocks instead of wood, in 1821 a new lens captured & focused 85% light from the illuminant ⛄

Fifteen years have passed since the incident occurred in Watch Hill, an incident that claimed the lives of your parents and baby brother Will. Today's assignment stirs all kinds of emotions because it has returned to your hometown, it can be anyone or anything to anybody. It has escaped, it renders its victims memoryless, void of basic functionality. It must be stopped, it is everywhere, it is everything to everyone, it is Project Black Mimic and it was the beginning and end of your beloved parents....sic 'em Elf!
Man, if this developer would just make their games a little more challenging this Mystery Tracker game would go down in history because the story is fantastic! The Bonus Chapter was a phenomenal concept that takes you back to Mystic Labs as the Anti-everything, the dark to the light, the down to the up, the wrong to the right, the Dark to the Light. You play on the cusp of a Fringe Universe, an alternate reality where things are the same yet slightly different, playing as the same agent of the Dark Trackers instead of the Mystery Trackers, how cool is that?
Unfortunately, the game itself is super easy and everything is predictable, you'll know what object is needed to complete every task, where to look, what to do and when and where to use things. You'll know where the HO scenes will be the second you walk in a room, you'll know to open up scenes where there are cabinets and drawers and know they will all need emblems. It's okay to have easy games, but maybe, just maybe guys, you could pop out at least 1 game a year that is suited towards the largest percentage of HOPA gamers, a challenging game? (maybe dev's wouldn't be struggling like they are nowadays. A decade or so later we have gotten really good at these games yet you still offer games that are super easy with no challenge whatsoever? The masses aren't being catered to anymore, so the masses have quit playing, We have evolved, but you remain the same, doing the same thing, perhaps even less challenging than in the beginning, isn't that obvious by now?)

Helper/Gadget:
I can't imagine playing a Mystery Trackers game without my partner Elf, nonetheless, you do get the option of abandoning Elf on the pier, man that's just cold! Elf is used 3 times per chapter (3 Chapters) in the Main Game and 0 times in the Bonus Chapter, however, Dark Elf is used 5 times in the Bonus Chapter.
Morphing Objects/Collectibles: (CE version only)
There are 12 Collectible Lighthouses and 28 Morphing Objects that morph at medium speed but at least they morph into a similar object to make it less obvious. Most of the Zoom Zones have a Puzzle Fragment that automatically completes 3 Screensavers (yet there's no option to "set" them?) My only complaint is that this developer never lets you return to the scene to pick up missed collectibles!
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 12 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. I rarely impressed with any of the HO Scenes by Elephant because the items practically jump out at you. Do me a favor and try to find the items w/o looking at the list and I'll betcha you can find most objects! There are Interactive List Finds, Multiples of Items Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Find & Replace Items, Uncover Matching Pair Finds, Spot the Difference and an old-fashioned HO scene where you find & drag objects to their matching pictured token. There are no alternate games available.
Mini-Games:
There are 15 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Most of the games are standard Elephant games that you've probably played several times. Here are a few of the ones I enjoyed the most:
1-Connect color-coded wire ends to partial symbols to complete the symbols' images.
2-Place letters correctly, letters are pushed along tracks as new ones are added.
3-Click on rolling balls.
4-Move buttons 1 step clockwise or 2 steps counterclockwise.

Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only)
DO-OVER! Return to the same scenes as offered in the main game only this time you are playing as a Dark Agent working for the Dark Trackers. I loved this concept, it's a very cool and unusual scenario. There are 8 Scene Locations in this average-length chapter which has 6 Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes. You will search for the remaining 3 Collectible Lighthouses, 8 Morphing Objects, and 9 Puzzle Fragments which allows you to complete the final screensaver.
Collector's Edition Extra's
8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art Pictures, 3 Screensavers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 21 Achievements, 13 Replayable Mini-Games, 13 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes (within the Archives Room) 12 Collectible Lighthouses, 28 Morphing Objects 34 Zoom Zone Puzzle Fragments, 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

Difficulty Range: Intermediate
Locked away in a tiny, dark cell of the Manchester Asylum is patient #11. She doesn't know who she is or where she's from. She has spoken, she hasn't responded to any treatment, she has made no progress for years, until now. Patient 11 has been obsessively drawing images of the Black Crown all over the walls of her cell while uttering randomly. Patient 11 may be mentally unstable, but she seems to be connected to the Black Crown, the same Mystery Case Files you solved 8 years ago, in Louisiana!
Gadgets/Helpers:
In Chapter 1, you will use a pocket watch that reacts when a new scene is discovered. You must drag the watch around the scene until it turns green, indicating you have discovered the right location. This gadget is only used 5 times and only in the first chapter. Why didn't they use the Mechanical Moth from the last MCF game?
Collectibles & Morphing Objects: (CE version only))
There are 42 Hidden Crabs and 42 Morphing Objects, one of each in every scene, including the CE Bonus Chapter. The Crabs are way too big to miss and the Coral is too brightly-colored to blend into the single color hues of most locations.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 17 Hidden Object Scenes +3 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Although there aren't a lot of variances, the scenes were well thought out and located in interesting scenes. They are mostly Listed Item Finds that are multi-layered and pan towards the back with one scene following the next. There are several Interactive List finds, Matching Symbol Finds, Matching Constellation Finds, and Pictured Item Finds as well. There are No Alternate Games Available.
Mini-Games:
There are 42 Mini-Games +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter, including my beloved Super Puzzles which are Rube Goldberg variations of complex door locks that require solving multiple layers of puzzles to open and proceed to the next chapter, and it's what makes MCF games so unique. below are a few of my personal favorite games:
1-All 3 Rube Goldberg puzzles
2-Drag various angled clock hands to point to every hour on a clock.
3-All versions of Untangle the Ropes games.
4-Trace the lines without repeating a direction.
Bonus Chapter (Collector's Edition version only)
Jumping jambalaya, Momma Aimee has discovered that Phineas Crown is one determined pirate. Phineas placed 12 segments of his soul within ordinary items and hidden them in the swamps of Louisiana. I loved this 13th Skull revisit to Absolute Voodoo which is an average-length chapter that takes place over 8 familiar Scene Locations. There are 6 Mini-Games and 3 Hidden Object Scenes and you will pick up the final 8 Hidden Crabs, and 8 Morphing Coral.
Collector's Edition Extras:
8 Wallpapers, 8 Video Movie Cutscenes, 11 Music, Case Files Journal,15 Achievements, 19 Replayable Puzzles, 20 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 42 Collectible Crabs, 42 Morphing Coral, 20 Souvenirs, 5 Chapters (listed as Chapters 0-4) +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-in Strategy Guide.

18 Scene Locations +8 CE Bonus Chapter
Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate
Saltshore is doomed when the most ruthless pirate whoever ruled the salty seas, rises from the dead, to seek revenge. The detective has her job cut out for her trying to sift through the scallywags and the hornswoggler's to find out if the ghost of the pirate captain known as the "Storm of Seas" has really returned to the Reef of Death to enact revenge upon all who live.
Collectibles/Morphing Objects:
Each scene has 2 of those famous 4Friends Opaque Collectibles (5 different Fish unlocked at 5-10-22-37-52) Each scene also has 2 Morphing Objects, some of the scene morphs are well-hidden, others have large, easily spotted objects.
Gadget/Helper:
There is a Scottish Terrier dog named Patrick who is used 6 times during the main game, mostly to reach items only a dog can reach, dig holes, or chase away critters, but he is used in a mini-game-hidden object scene as well. There is an Amulet Gadget whose keeper explains the backstory of the Pirate Captain whenever you find and place each of the 5 missing Crystals. The Amulet is used to "Stop" time so you can save yourself from the danger by playing a Hidden Objects Scene to find multiples of 2 different objects, and is used 5 different times in the main chapter.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 14 Hidden Object Scenes +6 in the CE Bonus Chapter. I wasn't impressed with any of the scenes which is one of the reason's I knocked off a star from my rating. The scenes were boring and the items were very easy to spot, once again, I found most of the items without looking at the list! There are Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Replace Items, Spot the Difference Finds and a very simplistic and repetitive HOP associated with the Amulet Gadget where you are tasked with finding Multiples of 2 Items such as 5 Ropes, etc.
Mini-Games:
There are 38 Mini-Games +7 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Thankfully, 4 Friends has abandoned my puzzle nemesis of 1 affects others (only 1 towards the end) Some of the puzzles are available in a Casual or Hard Mode of difficulty but honestly, most of the puzzles are easily solved on the first attempt.
Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
Karen Mulheron receives a letter from her fiance stating he is held prisoner on the Ghost Ship and gives her instructions to help free him in this average-length chapter that takes place over 8 Scene Locations. There are 7 Mini-Games and 6 Hidden Object Scenes and you will continue searching for 2 Opaque Fish and 2 Morphing Objects per scene (6 each) which will unlock the final 2 Fish in your aquarium.
Collector's Edition Extra's
6 Wallpapers (all w/characters) 12 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Screensavers (states SS's can't be downloaded unless I upgrade my Mac OS to an OS that BF warns me NOT to upgrade to because they haven't fixed the broket yet!!!???) 5 Music Soundtracks, 29 Movie Video Cutscenes, 15 Achievements, 10 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 Replayable Mini-Games, 52 Opaque Fish (2 per scene) 52 Morphing Objects (2 per scene) 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

There's just something about Christmas Wonderland that rings in the holidays, it's like putting on your favorite boots and sweater. It's the same scenes, the same un-aging family members and the same features, but Christmas isn't Christmas until Christmas Wonderland arrives. I have played this game for the last 10 years and I don't even bother with the demo, I know every inch of the game but that's okay, I'm still going to play it. There's just a certain nostalgic charm that you just can't help but fall in love with, it's the same feeling you get when you put on your favorite sweater for the first time since last season.
You can play in Casual or Challenge mode, but the Extreme Mode (Timed Mode requiring you to find all Golden Angels and Lost & Found items) is only available in the CE version. Each Hidden Object scene has about 29 Listed Items to find, items in Red are hidden in or behind something and items in Blue require a task such as dragging carrots to feed Rudolph, and there are usually two Zoom Zone Areas in each scene, indicated by twinkling stars. You will earn a Bronze Star if you complete the HO scene, a Silver Star if you complete the HO scene and find all Golden Angels OR all Lost & Found Items, and a Gold Star for completing the HO scene and finding all Angels and Lost and Found Items.
There are 18 Achievements to earn and a total of 50 Golden Angels to find that aren't on the list and once all angels have been located in a scene, the doors will close on the Angel Icon. There are a total of 108 Lost and Found Items that are shown one at a time as Silhouetted Shapes inside a Snowglobe, when all lost and found items have been found within the scene, Santa's Sleigh will appear within the Snowglobe. The Lost and Found Items are stored in a Scrapbook and there are 16 Photo-op Icons that allow you to take a picture of that scene for your Photo Album. The Points earned for completing each scene and mini-game are used to purchase 16 Christmas Presents that are kept in a Display Cae at the top of the screen.
After each Hidden Object Scene, you'll solve a simplistic mini-game or puzzle such as Rotating Square Puzzle Tiles, Jigsaw Puzzles, Word Search, Matching Pairs or Spot the Difference.
Collector's Edition Extra's
The CE Bonus Levels have been incorporated into the main game scenes and have Rosette Ribbons to identify them. You will board the SS Wonderland Princess Train heading to the North Pole to visit Jolly 'ole Saint Nick, with 9 extra HOP scenes. There are 24 Wallpapers, 20 downloadable Music Soundtracks, and 48 Replayable Mini-Games and Puzzles.
❆-8 Jigsaw Puzzles
❆-8 Flipsaw Puzzles
❆-8 Rotation Puzzles
❆-4 Spot The Difference Puzzles
❆-4 Matching Pairs Puzzles
❆-8 Word Search Puzzles
❆-2 Find & Place Puzzles
❆-1 Finding HO Scene.
❆-1 Trace The Ropes Puzzle
❆-1 Fix The Times Clock Puzzle
❆-2 Pick & Place Puzzle (pictures, labels, icons)
❆1-Spin & Flip Puzzle

I'm a puzzle geek so this game is right up my alley, but it could use a Christmas Miracle or two to make it more user-friendly. This is a Timed Puzzle game that requires you to drag square picture tiles to their correct cells on a grid with a colorless image to guide you. There are several issues going on here, all of which are simple fixes, and I'd love to see more puzzles offered by this developer. Here's a list of issues and my suggestions to make the game more user-friendly just in case Cold Coffee is listening :)
TIMED MODE:
You can earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze Awards depending on how long it takes you to complete the image, and you can replay the puzzle, you can even save your progress. The scoring was confusing to me. If I completed the puzzle within 5 minutes I earned a Gold Medal, but if I completed the puzzle within 3 Minutes I earned a Silver Medal? (I only earned Gold or Silver Medals during the demo) Most people don't like Timed Modes, especially on a Puzzle which most puzzle-lovers play for relaxation. Why not offer a Casual Mode as well?
UNAPPEALING OR SIMILAR IMAGES:
First of all, there are only 30 Puzzles in total and I was able to complete about half of those puzzles within the demo. If the goal is to complete each puzzle in 3-5 minutes you could potentially complete the entire game from start to finish within 90 to 2.5 hours tops. The images are unappealing and they were too much alike, wine glasses and Christmas Tree variations were in every puzzle. There are millions of Christmas images available that are colorful, cheery and appealing, but these were ugly or boring images. Choose better images next time, use winter scenery not close-ups of some random dude pointing to a tree, close-ups of a table setting, and worse of all a picture of the tips of a fir tree on a wooden board????
DARK CELLS/NOT ABLE TO SEE EMPTY SLOTS
Several of the images had dark-colored puzzle tiles and even darker background cells that made it impossible to see where the empty slots were available. The same issue when the cells and tiles were all white. This could be avoided by simply choosing better picture images with contrast as mentioned above! Sure, there's a Hint feature, but that defeat's the point, it feels like your cheating when you use the hint so I just don't use Hint features! Why not add a feature that allows us to download our own images?
I loved the concept, this could have been a super-fun, must-have game, but it's way too short and the pictures are really dull and unappealing, and certainly made the game flawed all because of the images chosen. I will use a PCC to purchase this game, but I probably would just pass on this game if I didn't have a PCC because of the issues stated above :(

I could have thoroughly enjoyed this Christmas-themed Mahjong game if the music soundtrack didn't get stuck on a never-ending loop that drove me crazy. I was also really annoyed with the fact that as I made Mahjong matches, the board would zoom in closer and closer, it felt like it was invading my personal space. These two annoying features made the game impossible to enjoy the relaxation of a Mahjong game, for me personally.
If you are a Mahjong fan, and you aren't annoyed by those two issues, this is a cute Christmas-themed Mahjong game with a "Builder" feature. There are 138 Levels available which include puzzles like Spot the Difference, as well as Hidden Object Scenes. I encountered a glitch, or perhaps an oversight on the Hidden Object Scene in the demo where the Items weren't crossed off as I found them which was also rather annoying.
You can earn up to 3-Stars per level (3-stars on puzzles if you don't use the Hint feature) and when you make matches quickly it will increase the Multiplier Index. Some levels have Presents or Gold Tiles to remove which ends the game once they are Matched, the final 2 matching tiles are also removed automatically. I find this feature annoying as well because it's just like Solitaire, I want the satisfaction of removing all of the tiles, not just some of them. You can replay the Mahjong levels to earn a better Star Rating, and you re given 5 Undo's, 5 Shuffles, and 5 Hints to start with, I'm assuming you can purchase more if necessary.
Diamonds are earned as you complete the levels and are used to construct buildings like factories, houses, and Cookie shops. To be honest, all of the buildings were similar in shape and all have a blueish tint to give the scene a nighttime appearance, which consequentially made them colorless and unappealing.
As I said earlier, it's a cute Mahjong game, the tiles are large and easy to see, the graphics are HD, and the Elf has a funny and somewhat sarcastic sense of humor. Happy Holidays :)
I don't recommend this game.

I love these games still, but what happened to the bright cheerful colors of the earlier games? I was excited when the Butterfly image popped up, but I was expecting a beautiful butterfly with vivid pink, purple, and blue hues, instead, I got a butterfly with a lot of black, green and brown hues???? The scenery images were awesome too, and I get that they were winter scenes, but can't you throw in a few wild colored images too?
I'd still like to see a few options added such as an Undo button, a Cursor option of different widths, a full-color palette for the Background Colors, a full-color palette to choose the color of "shaded" current numbered pixels, and an option to save the completed images as a screensaver or wallpaper.
When I played the first Pixel Art game, I wasn't a fan because the demo portion mostly offers small puzzles with very few pixels and even fewer details. Once I purchased the original Pixel Art game and discovered that the puzzles became more intense after the demo, I was hooked and found it very relaxing and very zen. When I say intense, I just mean more intricate, because the puzzles don't actually require a lot of thought, but that's the beauty of it...it's totally Zen! The accompanying music is soothing with occasional nature sounds blended into the background to make the experience even more peaceful, with frogs and crickets chirping or the sounds of waves as they ebb and flow.
There's not a whole lot to have to figure out, it's about as uncomplicated and basic as it gets. Pixel Art is a computer version of Paint by Numbers. Each pixel has a number and you chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side, and you simply left click to fill in all the numbers with the correct color, you can hold the mouse button and swipe through large groupings as well.
There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. There is an auto-fill feature that will fill in large groups of pixels in a particular color by double-clicking, but that feature has to recharge after each use, besides, it's more satisfying to color them yourself. The last feature is a slider bar that allows you to change the color of the background, it really only allows you to change the colors in shades of grey or black. It would make more sense to have an entire color scale available on a paint by numbers game though, wouldn't it?
Keep an open mind, it isn't supposed to be a brain-burner kind of game. It's a very basic and rudimentary game that's just supposed to take you out of the hectic zone for a bit, and who knows, you may find yourself aboard the Pixel Art Zen Train too. I'll save you a seat!

Difficulty Range: Beginners
This is the way a Christmas Story should be, wickedness running amuck, while still remaining light-hearted and full of Christmas Cheer...and of course, a "Happily Ever After" ending. Well done big D, and did I detect a bit of sarcasm in response to the "other" Christmas game?
Gadget/Helper (9 times in the main chapter only)
There is a Magical Mirror Gadget that allows you to communicate with your father, Wilhelm Grimm. Because they don't have an unlimited Data Plan in Fairyworld, you'll have to get your "minutes" by replacing one Blue and one Green Crystal, and naturally, the "minutes" don't roll-over and the Crystals shatter after each use.
Morphing Objects & Collectibles:
There are 15 Morphing Christmas Trees and 15 Constellations Collectibles that can be a little hard to spot in some scenes. Each scene has at least one Zoom-Zone Gingerbread Stars Collectible of varying amounts. The Gingerbread Stars are used to purchase 15 Boudoir items that are Christmas themed. The Collectibles and Morphing Objects are available throughout the Main Chapter as well as the Bonus Chapter (CE version)
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 18 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter with an optional Match 3 Game available. There are several variations offered such as Interactive Listed Items, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Listed Multiples of Item Finds, Find & Replace Items, Combo Finds, and my favorite, Listed items that are missing letters.
Mini-Games:
There are 32 Mini-Games +10 in the CE Bonus Chapter, most of which can be played in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode.
Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorite puzzles from the game.
1-Place bells on shelves so each group of music symbols is surrounded by their symbol-related bells.
2-Slide beaded ropes up or down to align the symbols to the door's edge.
3-Use directional arrows to move the tassel the specified number of moves shown on each tile to land on the green tile.
4-Move, rotate and scale images to fit the highlights on the background.
5-Rotate triangle puzzle pieces to complete the image.
6-Drag a line between color-coded buttons without overlapping.
Bonus Chapter: (Collector's Edition version only)
There's no rest for Mother Holle as she tries to make this season bright. When Mother Holle refuses to hand over the keys to Christmas World, her sister Hedgewitch turns her into a mouse (there seems to be a lot of that going on nowadays) This is a fairly-lengthy chapter that takes place over 10 Scene Locations with 10 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes, You will pick up the remaining 4 Morphing Christmas Trees, 4 Constellations (completes the Constellation Room, and 16 Gingerbread Stars of various amounts which allows you to purchase the final Boudior purchases.
Collector's Edition Extra's
10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks. 30 Cutscene Movie Videos, 16 Replayable Mini-Games, 18 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 40 Achievements to Earn. 15 Morphing Christmas Trees, 15 Constellations, 88 Gingerbread Stars (used to purchase 15 items in your Boudoir) 5 Main Chapters +Bonis Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

Santa has abandoned his post, I repeat, The Big Guy has gone AWOL, we have a Code Blue with Big Red, SCOTUS has left the building, Ho-Ho-Ho is a No-No-Go! Operation Christmas Drop The Ball has been deployed, this is NOT a drill, hold on to your Jingle Bells, grab your Hot Cocoa's, assume crash positions, this is the time to PANIC!
This is a cute Match 3 game that can be played in a Relaxed, Unlimited Moves Mode, a Challenge Mode with Limited Moves, or a Timed Mode as well as a Casual or Expert Difficulty Mode. There are 100 Levels and 28 Christmas Decorations to purchase with the Diamonds you earn. The Decorations can be moved and placed almost anywhere you want, so I placed the snowman as close to the fireplace as possible, nothing like taking your coals off once in a while, you know what I mean?
The Level Goals require you to make matches over all Gold Tiles, Remove Presents or Keys by dropping them off the board and making matches of specified tiles which are all Christmas related, with Trees, Santas, Stockings, Stars, Candy Canes, Cookies and Cupcakes, Bells, Cinnamon Buns, etc.
There are the usual Obstacles of Wooden Crates, Chains, Snow Cubes, Stone Tiles, Metal Tiles, Ice Cubes, and even Portals that constantly spit out Snow to cover the tiles.
Large Matches earn Bonuses, a Match 4 gives you Dynamite to destroy a 1 tile radius, a Match 5 gives you a Bomb to destroy adjacent tiles, and a Match 6 gives you TNT which destroys a 2 tile radius.
You can purchase Power-ups to use on pesky tiles such as a Hammer to remove a chosen Obstacle, a Pickaxe to remove a single tile, a Snowman to Shuffle the board, and a Shooting Star to remove all of the same kind of tile. Each Power-up can be purchased with the Diamonds you earn in increments of 12/32/57.
I found the music to be a little too repetitive so it would have been nice to have a few extra soundtracks added into the mix. It's a cute game, a somewhat easy game to master but I haven't played all of the modes so perhaps another mode setting would be more challenging Merry Christmas :)
I recommend this game!

fromBuying all the gifts for the 12 Days of Christmas would be ridiculously expensive, 6300 for just the swans a swimming. Candy Canes were invented in Germany in the shape of a J for Jesus, the stripes represent his blood. ⛄

Welcome to The Little Shop of Horrors, you've come in Vain detective, this Bud is NOT for you! Mandrake has taken over the city of Oaksmor and killer plants are spreading their spores at a break-necked pace and spewing deadly poisonous pollen. Can the League spread their Light or will the Mandrake spread darkness and extinguish human life existence?
This is a Love it or Hate it kind of game, I LOVED it! I love that this developer took a risk with the format out of the norm, yet slightly Retro. This is simply a Hidden Object Game with Mini-Games and a little bit of a story. You play a mini-game to unlock an area on the map (indicated by Green Gears) once the puzzle is solved, several Green arrows appear. Each Green Arrow is a whole scene Hidden Object Scene with 1-2 puzzles within. The Puzzles are fantastic, they are original, they are challenging, they are really, really fun! The HO's are creative, challenging and just as much fun as the puzzles, maybe more so! This is a long game because of the abundance of HO scenes, it has great replay value because of them too.
Collectibles:
There are 32 Collectible Owls located in the main scenes as well as the original Hidden Object Scenes. Most of the Owls are well-blended and can be tricky to spot. This has always been my favorite collectible and one I look forward to, so don't ever abandon these wide-eyed critters :)
Gadgets/Helpers:
There is a Toxin Apparatus Gadget that is used 11 times with an associated mini-game (which I დ'd!) You complete Hidden Object Scenes to collect a specified number of Flowers in a Phial and place them in the apparatus which triggers a mini-game of connecting atoms of opposing color. The Toxin is then used to destroy the killer plant which is also collected for the final scenes.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are a whopping 49 Hidden Object Scenes _ 20 in the CE Bonus Chapter. If you have read my reviews you will know that I am rarely challenged by the HOP's nowadays because they have become nothing more than junkpiles with objects in plain sight. These are beautiful scenes, creative scenes, entertaining scenes, and above all, they have items that are at times, crazy-hard to spot! The HOP scenes aren't located in a dark zoom zone corner of the room, they are the room, the entire room! They are mostly Interactive List Finds, but every time I thought they couldn't surprise me with something new, BAM! something new was right around the corner, items to locate on conveyor belts all over the room going in different directions, an open-doored elevator with items in the background as the elevator moved, creative HOP's following orders and recipes (not the usual stuff) Pollen-filled rooms that you click to push away pollen for brief periods only to ooze back, Massive amounts of the same objects, such as 40 tiny Fleur-de-lis, or 30 sticks of dynamite... I looked forward to the HOP's for the first time in several years folks! Every original HOP has 1-2 puzzles to solve and every original scene has a Hidden Owl (Heads-up: don't forget to look for the collectible Owl as well on the scene where you collect 12 Owls) Towards the end of the game, some scenes are repeated because of a reinfestation. Those repeated scenes don't have puzzles or Owls (unless you didn't find it the first time)
Mini-Games:
There are 32 Mini-Games +12 in the CE Bonus Chapter. These puzzles aren't for the faint of heart, they aren't impossible to solve, but most are tricky or require a little bit of thought (and sometimes several ⟳ resets lol) Nearly all Hidden Object Scenes have at least one puzzle, some have two, with the exception of the repeated scenes. There is a repetitive game associated with the Toxin Apparatus which requires connecting several atoms. I actually loved this puzzle that increased with difficulty each time! I can honestly say that I really enjoyed all of the puzzles offered, but here's a list of some of my favorite puzzles:
℧-Connect all Atoms with various openings (you can't connect identical colored atoms to each other) Used 11 times in the Main Game.
℧-Rotate individual disks & groups of disks until all yellow & all green pie sections are connected to each other as well as the central disks.
℧-Drag colored chains to free up spaces that allow the gold chain to be placed in its matching slot.
℧-Select chips and then a directional arrow to navigate to various exits that will close after a chip exits. (use other chips as bumpers)
℧-Place colored chips by trial & error, yellow means the chip is the correct color but in the wrong placement, green means the chip is the correct color & placement.
℧-Drag light beams across every star to light them up.
℧-Jump Scarabs on a pyramid to remove all but 1 scarab.
℧-Arrange statuettes by solving riddles for correct placement.
℧-Make specified numbers of connections for all numbered squares.
℧-Super Puzzle: solve a series of mechanical type puzzles.
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Soon after ridding Oaksmor of Mandrake and her spore minions, Edward Nevell, the Scientist, receives a letter from Agent Jonas Thorn, asking for help his help when the invasion returns, but can he be trusted? There are 20 Hidden Object Scenes and 12 Mini-Games to keep you busy. There are no Collectible Owls in the Bonus Chapter.
Collector's Edition Extra's:
24 beautiful Wallpapers, 36 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Music Videos, 6 Movie Video Cutscenes, 8 Achievements (6 with 3 categories) 1 Fresco Puzzle (FYI: can be completed at ANY time, even before playing the game, an achievement for completion) 32 Collectible Owls~1 in every scene including the HOP's (You can return to any scene to pick up missed Owls by clicking on the empty Owl slot in the collectibles Tab) 3 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
