I know this developer is listening because I have asked for a full-color scale option for the background colors and that option was recently fulfilled on the newer Paint By Numbers series. I also asked for Cursor options such as a pencil, marker, ballpoint and/or nib pen, quills, etc. instead of the huge and bulky cursor that was currently offered, and although he didn't give us multiple cursor options, he did go back to the drawing board and slim the cursor down significantly!
In some of the earlier versions, I complained that there weren't enough color variations to give the picture depth, in other words, he didn't use different shades of the same color side by side as a visual shading effect...so he created a new game genre, Polygon Art.
I recommended that he use different textures of art materials such as oil or acrylic paints to make our completed images appear more like the real thing, like works of art, a Picasso...so he created a new genre, Modern Art!
There are still two options I think are necessary. When a picture has been completed you don't get to view the completed image in full size, nor do you get to revisit the completed image in full size. There should also be an option to download the completed images as Wallpapers...especially some of these beautifully painted images! And I am still having issues with the Mac version showing up as a small windowed version in the bottom left corner, the mode is full-screen and the screen image is full, but the image of the picture is stuck in the corner and I'm better off in windowed mode because at least I can center that small image! (ps: this is a new occurrence in the last few games only)
There are 64 images available but you are still forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, especially when the developer still chooses to throw in several less than appealing images, images that people clearly complain about on the reviews (not just the ones here) Why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? If you won't let the player see what's in store for them when they purchase the game, you should at least place all the interesting pictures on the first level!

Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. There is also a slider bar that allows you to change the color of the background, which now includes a full-color scale. ☯
I recommend this game!

Detective Investigations is brought to us by the same developers who brought us a similar hidden object investigative series called Secret Investigations so obviously they didn't put a whole lot of thought into this game if they didn't bother to come up with a title that was noticeably different.
You start out with a tutorial that explains most of the features, how you must "investigate" each scene by finding listed objects as quickly as possible. It forces you to use a Hint so it can show you how to use the hint in case you don't know how to click a hint button? It tells you that the quicker you find objects the higher the index bar raises to earn more points to help you achieve percentages of stars until you earn all 5 stars which will allow you to solve the case (and move on to the next crime) You can scan over a listed item to see a picture of the item (which takes several seconds to completely materalize) and one item in every scene is an inventory item that goes into your inventory bar and must be used interactively in the scene such as a palette which is used on a blank canvas to paint a picture.
What the tutorial doesn't explain is that you can change the difficulty mode at the top of the screen between a Relaxed Mode which gives you 5 Hints per level, allows you to skip mini-games, and gives you double the rewards for completing the scene. Otherwise, you will be playing in an Expert Mode which only gives you one Hint per level (you can purchase 5 hints at a time for 20 Diamonds which are earned playing HO levels) the mini-games will cost diamonds to skip, and you receive normal rewards for completing the scenes.

You are tasked with finding the same objects in the same scenes over and over as you search for clues to various crimes. As you find evidence, you must endure "analyzing" the evidence which basically means you watch a fingerprint scanner or similar device for about 30 seconds before playing a cheesy mini-game of brushing dust off of a paper or putting torn scraps of paper together. This isn't the painful part, the painful part is reading pages and pages of dialog as the detective tells you all her thoughts and shares the evidence findings with you, her new partner...oh, but if you have a sense of humor, this IS the interesting part as well folks, here are a few examples of the developer's translation fails:
"I can see even without the forensic examination that the victim is wearing not his suit"
"As you see there's car dump and our car repair shop nearby"
"Everything was well. I think I can't help you"
"Maybe it's my intuition, maybe the policeman flair but I feel that Mr. Cave hides something.
"This motel wing is closed for a long time o and nobody lodges there."
"I'll tell you the truth, yes I let the woman on a large SUV to lodge in the closed wing for cash"
"But if you find somewhere its trace let me know so I'll compare the print with the tire"
I stopped reading the dialog at this point, though admittedly, I was cracking up that a woman was "on" the SUV which was "on" the dump and the maid was making cash on the side by renting out rooms in the closed portion of a motel and no one seemed to notice...were they told to sneak out before daybreak...did they park their cars on the dump?
I don't recommend this game.

Let's face it, after the first Crown of the Empire disaster, any following releases could surely only improve, it couldn't possibly get worse than it's 1.7 average rating predecessor, right? When I first started playing Crown of the Empire: Around The World, I was impressed because the very first level seemed to employ some tricky strategies...maybe too tricky?
I think the developers panicked a bit and went overboard, I think they overcomplicated things and made the level goals unclear, let me rephrase that, they made it difficult to understand which strategies the player should employ to accomplish the level goals. They made it difficult to understand which resources are required for each TM task such as the buildings, removing holes, repairing bridges, etc. which all requires an extra step of clicking on each individual task, which in turn takes valuable time, which causes the player to lose valuable time. They gave us a Strategy Guide that simply shows the order in which you should build the buildings, etc. but it doesn't allow you to access the SG while playing without losing progress???
Let's move on to the graphics, they were good, I especially enjoyed the graphics of Africa with the lazy lions laying in the path, Zebra's, tribesmen, monoliths, the desert vibe, I loved all of the countries they have chosen, Scotland with its orange leaves, sheep roaming the countryside, harvesting crops, trains, chests, and of course Nessy the Loch Ness Monster, Malta with its knights, ports, bridges, coal and rocky landscape, Europe seems to have an ogre situation? lol
The bottom line is, I would give this game a 3.5, I will revisit the Standard Edition version when it's released and I may very well give that version a 4-Star review, and I will definitely wait to purchase that version!
Collector's Edition Extra's
50 Main Levels +10 CE Levels, 15 Achievements, 5 Music Soundtracks, 10 Concept Art Pictures, a Strategy Guide (and not a very good one at that) No Collectibles, No Morphing Objects...Is any of this worth twice as much money?

I loved the original Dreamland Solitaire because the graphics were beautiful, the fairy was beautiful and I loved building the fairy's house in the middle of an enchanted forest, it was that particular feature that made the game so special. In Dragon's Fury, the graphics suddenly became cartoonish and I was slightly disappointed, but when it came to restoring the village and rebuilding the fairy kingdom in Dark Prophecy, the graphics really took a step backward with the most unappealing cartoonish style graphics yet. I played the entire demo on the casual mode setting and didn't have to replay any on the levels because I was able to remove all of the cards on the first attempt, nevertheless, I purchased this game on a Bonus Punch Monday and the game was entertaining, but it still wasn't as impressive as the original Dreamland Solitaire, and certainly not as beautiful...not by a longshot!
Everything else is the same as the original two Dreamland Solitaires, as far as gameplay, bonuses, and mechanics with the exception of being able to choose from 8 Deck Card styles this time. The Collector's Edition version has 10 Achievements, 7 Music Soundtracks, 7 Wallpapers, 4 Character Bios, and 80 Bonus Levels, honestly, this Standard Edition version is probably the better choice, especially if you wait for a sale or Bonus Punch Monday!
This is a Higher/Lower type of Solitaire Game that can be played in a Casual Mode with Standard rules, a Timed Mode where you are given a specified time limit for each turn or an Easy Mode which gives you 2 decks of cards. You get 1 Undo per level and there is Deck Card Counter and Combos will increase the index points.
The Object is to Remove all of the Cards to earn 3 Stars (levels can be replayed) Glowing Gold Cards contain Coins and Glowing Purple Cards contain Mana. Coins are used to purchase Bonus Boosters and Number Specific Wildcards & Jokers in the Shop. Mana is used to Clear the Dark fog and restore the Village, which as I said earlier, has very cartoonish graphics and isn't appealing, even after the upgrades.
As you progress, Obstacles are added to make the game more challenging. Plank Cards (single, double, triple planked cards) require playing the Axe Cards, Frozen Cards need to be removed Twice, Locked Cards require uncovering and using the Key, Shield Cards require removing Suit Specified Cards, and Mystical Fog Cards requires uncovering the Lantern Card to dispel the fog.
You can purchase Card Specific Wildcards or Jokers with the Coins you earn (you can earn them as well during the levels) and you can purchase a Chain Lightning Bonus (removes random face-up cards) a Fireball (hits selected card) a Magic Shuffle (shuffles cards) or a bonus that allows you to Change a Card to an adjacent one. Once purchased, these can be used on any level, and they recharge as you remove cards of their specified Suit. You can also purchase Extra Cards at the start of each level, Extra Undo's, Increase the Combo multiplier, generate bonuses faster, reduce the cost of wildcards, increase the number of tokens allowed, increase the number of wildcards permitted, or flip random cards over at the beginning of the level.
In my opinion, decorating and upgrading the beautiful forest scenery was the key ingredient or feature that gave the original game the "It Factor" I wish they would have continued that feature, perhaps a new home in a new forest, even better, a new fairy and a new adventure.

Lucia's brother Ulf has always taken care of her since their parents passed away, but now her world has been turned upsidedown. Yesterday she learned that he is a werewolf and today, he has been hunted down by powerful witches she never knew existed. Lucia has always had her big brother to take care of her, but today, she must embark on a dangerous journey through enchanted forests, bewitched caves, and treacherous towns. Lucia must gather her inner strength to overcome the sorcery and reverse the ritual that has stolen her brother's life!
Morphing Objects/Collectibles (CE version only)
No other developer beats the CE bling the Five-BN games offers, they are always well-worth the extra price! Not only are there several Collectible's (53 total) there are several different types, Medallions, Flowers, Figurines, Tarot Cards, and Goblets. When you complete a category, you will earn an achievement and unlock a new Puzzle in the CE Extra's Section.
There are also 10 Historical Manuscripts and when that collection is complete, you will earn an achievement and unlock an extra Mini-Game with several Levels!
We're not done yet, folks! There are 30 Morphing Objects, one in each scene, and when the collection is complete you will earn an achievement as well a unlock a new Bonus Game in the CE Extras too! No other developer gives us this much CE bling!
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are only 15 Hidden Object Scenes +3 in the CE Bonus Chapter, but don't let that deter you because these are some of the most interactive and lengthy, whole-room scene HO's you'll ever see, unless of course, you play other games by this developer. There are basically 4 different variations, Progressive-Interactive List, Progressive-Interactive Silhouetted Shapes, Progressive-Interactive Multiples, and Progressive-Finding & Replacing. The interactions are multi-layered and do require a lot of thought processes because the interactions are not your typical cookie-cutter interactions. You will always be required to figure out how to open boxes, find hidden caches, etc. and everything requires multiple tasks or progressions. Did I mention how talented this team is? My only suggestion to them would be to offer an alternative game for players who may find these too frustrating, or perhaps a skip button feature?
Mini-Games:
Put on your thinking caps to solve 50 Mini-Games +8 in the CE Bonus Chapter. These aren't impossible puzzles, but they will require a little bit of thought and a little bit of patience. These aren't the kind of games that can be solved in one or two moves, and certainly not by luck of the draw. Did I mention how incredibly talented this team is? Even the Hidden Object Scenes are more like puzzles AND they have mini-games within them! My only complaint is that they tend to have horribly confusing instructions simply because of the way they try to draw out the explanation, such as, "in order to achieve the goal a parameter needs to be established around the elements by... doesn't make sense, it's drawn out and complicated...get to the point Five-BN lol
Bonus Chapter: (CE version only)
Everything happens for a reason and everything is interconnected as you play as the young orphan boy Lucia helped in the main game and learn why he really got himself in such a bind. This is a lengthy chapter spanning over 13 scene locations with 8 Mini-Games and 3 more of those maddening Progressive-Interactive Hidden Object Scenes. Although there are no more Morphing Objects or Historical Manuscripts remaining, a brand new Collectible becomes available, so you'll search for 13 Goblets, and of course, it will unlock another Bonus Game in the CE extra's Menu as well as award you with a new Achievement!
Collector's Edition Extra's:
10 amazing Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Music Soundtracks, 14 Video Cutscenes, 14 Replayable Mini-Games, 5 Puzzles +Bonus Puzzles (you must complete Each of the Collections Categories to unlock a new Bonus Puzzle for each collection completed!) 53 Collectibles (8 Medallions-7 Flowers-8 Figurines-7 Tarot Cards-13 Goblets (in the Bonus Chapter) 10 Magical Creatures Manuscripts (Completing the Manuscripts Collections will unlock an extra Mini-Game with many levels in the extra's menu) 30 Morphing Objects (Completing the Morphing Objects Collections will unlock a Bonus Game) 4 very long Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
I recommend this game!

I keep my study room locked, the key is locked safely away in a locked box, so safely that I don't know where the key is to that box. My laptop is in desperate need of repair, it probably has something to do with the fact that the cable is in the top of the tree in the backyard? The FBI may not know why the midnight killer has chosen me for this case, But I certainly do, and I will solve this case...as soon as I dig up my typewriter keys, now where did I leave my shovel? I gotta tell ya, I worry about breaking into a car without a warrant so while I wait for the warrant to come through on a witness's computer, think I'll just blow up the neighbors mailbox with a stick of dynamite? I'm sure she won't mind if I borrow her fax machine while I'm at it... she's still a little shaken given that I just crawled through her window unexpectedly? At this point, Agent Kazinsky knows I'm one of the good guys, after all, I saved him from that fire so he could walk himself to the hospital, come to think of it 3 different people had to walk themselves to the hospital after I "saved" them? Hmm, I'm starting to re-think matters now...clearly, this town doesn't have a decent ambulance service! Rest assured folks, The Master has chosen the right agent for this case!
Gadgets/Helper:
There were NO Gadgets or Helpers :)
Collectibles & Morphing Objects (CE Version Only):
There are 15 Morphing Origami Animals (including the Domini Dog Logo) and 15 Art Supplies that allows you to learn about The Master's thoughts (because everyone wants a piece of crazy?) There are 92 Zoom Zone Coins that can be used to purchase 15 Office Items...but the items aren't really "office" items and your office seems to be located at the end of a dark alley so it's not even an "office"??? There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings as well. Maybe it was just my particular game that had a GLITCH but I wasn't able to access the office, the art supplies, or the origami shelf via the Collections Tab or the Pop-up achievement tabs this go-round, nor was there a tab on my Map to access these features. Every time I wanted to purchase something I had to exit to the main menu and go into the extra's menu (yes, I checked the custom settings) so this was either a huge oversite or a huge glitch, either way, it was a huge pain!
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 13 Hidden Object Scenes +3 in the CE Bonus Chapter and an alternate Match 3 Game available, which btw, doesn't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly. (you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match) There were a lot of variations offered and the scenes had blurry or unrecognizable objects at times, not to mention that some of the objects were "hidden" on the outer darker fringes of the scenes where you couldn't possibly see what they actually were, you just clicked on objects there because there was nothing left to click on! There were Interactive Listed Item Finds, Spot the Differences, Multiples of the Same Object Finds, Similar Item Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Missing Vowels Finds, Swatch Finds, Replace Items Into the Scene Finds, Items that Match Descriptions Finds, Matching Pair Finds, and Keywords in Sentence Finds as well.
Mini-Games:
There are 21 Mini-Games +7 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game) Below are a few of my personal favorites:
1-Use directional arrows to push locks onto fingerprints.
2-Use triangle buttons to change the numbers that correspond to each symbol on a code.
3-Clear the field by selecting all tiles that don't contain bombs as indicated by the numbers under tiles.
4-Transfer power from each button to the lightning symbols by toggling between symbols on each connected tile.
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Another madman is on the loose! He has hijacked the local news channel with a dire video message warning that people will disappear and people will know the police won't deserve their trust (Really? Bad timing Domini!) This is an above-average-length Domini chapter spanning over a whopping 12 scene locations with 7 additional Mini-Games but a measly 3 Hidden Object Scenes, You will continue your search for the final Morphing Origami Animals, Art Supplies and Zoom Zone Coins (of varying amounts) which allows you to purchase the final Office Items, which aren't actually office items and arent actually located in an office?!?
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 26 Movie Video Cutscenes, 40 Achievements, 9 Replayable Mini-Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Origami Animals,15 Art Supplies, a gazillion Missing Notes, 92 Zoom-Zone Coins, 15 Office Items (purchase with Coins...why is my office in a dark alley?) 5 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.

This was a fun game to play when it first came out, and I purchased games two and three before I realized that basically they are the same game. The features are the same, the goals are the same, the power-ups and obstacles are the same, heck, even some of the board layouts are the same. In all fairness, I did notice that the power-ups seemed a bit more ramped up with beefier explosions this time, but the orbs have the same ugly color schemes they have had in the previous 8 games.
After each level, if you have enabled the "Double Game" feature in the Options Settings, you can select a card (¼) that's hopefully higher than the dealer's card which doubles your points earned on that level only. It's not a very exciting feature, but it was more exciting than playing the game over and over??
The gameplay is simple, there is an unlimited number of colored Orbs located on all four sides of the board and the goal is to launch an Orb at an identical colored Orb(s) on the field until all Orbs have been removed. The Orb will travel in a straight column or row until it hits another Orb, Power-up, or Obstacle. If the selected Orb hits one or more Orbs of the same color, they are removed, and you may need to use a little bit of strategy to set-up your moves, keep in mind that there is no timer.
Each level has Power-ups that appear briefly on the field or within the Orbs themselves, before disappearing and reappearing as a different Power-up in a completely different area. The Power-ups are activated when hit by an Orb or included in a Match.
*Rotation power-up: reshuffles and replaces the Orbs.
*Multi-colored Bombs: eliminates adjacent Orbs
*Trident power-up: replaces all border Orbs with Tridents *Fireball power-up: explodes and eliminates nearby Orbs.
*Lightning power-up: eliminates nearby Orbs in a cross formation.
*Star power-up: shoots stars to eliminate adjacent Orbs.
*Numbers: choose 1 or 5 Orbs to eliminate via crosshairs.
*Billiard Ball: a ball ricochets on a pool table to eliminate Orbs & obstacles it touches.
*Exclamation Mark: eliminates all Orbs of the same color.
Each level progresses in difficulty, as more orb colors are added, fewer orbs in the desired color along the edges are offered. Sometimes you just have to sacrifice and add a few orbs to the equation, to be able to get to the desired colored orb, but because there's no time or moves limit it doesn't count against you.
Once again, I was disappointed that the rows and columns don't highlight because it's easy to shoot an orb from the wrong slot. There are the same obstacles as the last several games such as brick walls and glass thrown into the mixture, the same colored orbs with the same power-ups and features as the previous games. It gets pretty boring doing the same thing over and over, especially if you've played previous games in the series that are nearly identical! This game was released in mid-July on Mac and I never got around to playing it because I knew it was going to be the same as number 8 (and 7 and 6 and 5...) So if you're new to this series I recommend this game, otherwise, I suggest just replaying what you already have, it's the same ole, same ole.

The developer made a few changes since Red Riding Hood, they did away with that dreadful shockwave effect that occured every time you finished a group of cells and they added a few new features to Rapunzel.. yet this Fairy Tale is missing something?
Let's start with what they added, like a single Custom Cursor...Rapunzel has been locked in a tower, against her will her entire life, so I suppose asking for "options" would just be rude. There are now 12 Tile Variations to choose from including my favorite Lego style, there's even a Duplo lego style for the tiny taters. Although there are 10 other variations such as granite, chiseled, diamond-cut, beveled, square or curved edges, etc. they only vary in texture not sheen, in otherwords, they don't have one that looks super shiny or one in a matte finish. There are also 3 Crossed-off options which basically varies in the size and font of the X and the design of the crossed of cell center (diamond-dot).. yet this Fairy Tale is missing something?
You can play in a Normal Mode which crosses off the cells one by one or an Advanced Mode which only crosses off the numbers when the entire row or column has been filled in correctly. There are 100 Mosaic Puzzles and you can earn up to 3-Stars per level with a maximum of 6 Mistakes allowed per puzzle, but stars are deducted when you make a mistake or use the available Hint feature.
In the previous game, Red Riding Hood, the tutorial and explanations of the Tools were quite dreadful and very confusing but Rapunzel has cleared thing up a bit, kinda, sorta, somewhat (my, what big ears you have granny, let down your hair so I can hear you?) The Magic Wand will correctly fill a cell of your choice and The Magic Mirror will correctly fill a 3x3 grid area without penalty. Both tools recharge by uncovering tool icons located under various cells. (can you hear me now Rapunzel?)...yet this Fairy Tale is still missing something?
There is a slight lag between clicking on a cell and the cell actually being filled in which is frustrating and broke my concentration of counting cells as I was 2-3 steps ahead of the filling in part and had to wait for it to catch up! I have also come across a couple of puzzles that have forced me to use a Tool to solve the puzzle (one before one after demo) because there was no "logical" way to solve it otherwise, this isn't acceptable, I hate being forced to use power-ups, tools, hints, etc.
The colors are just so-so, they aren't what I'd expect in a Fairy Tale, they are really neutral and at times it was almost as if they were only trying to appeal towards a male audience...which is okay, but if you're going to do that, chose a different theme other than a Rapunzel Fairy Tale perhaps? (and next time, consider the version that isn't so "dark & grim" perhaps?) The completed images were just plain ole drab and boring as well, I get that the pictures were depicting a story, but a chair, a table, a bed, a fetus... Really???

Okay, it's the same familiar gameplay with the same familiar cheesy features but this is one familiar Hidden Object Game that never gets old and never disappoints me. Vacation Adventures games are games I never have to try before I buy, I know I want them, I know I will play them and I absolutely know I will enjoy every minute of them!
You can play in a Casual Mode (untimed-faster hint recharge) a Challenge Mode (timed-normal hint recharge) or Extreme (timed-no available hints-all wildlife & recyclables must be found) There are 18 Achievements to earn for completing various tasks such as buying Souvenirs, earning an Eagle Eye award or completing the game. You can purchase 16 Cruise Souvenir's which are stored in a Display Case tab at the top of the screen.
Each scene has several Lost & Found Items (how does one lose a camera tripod and remember to take the camera but not the tripod or forget they just lugged a giant telescope on deck?) that are shown as silhouettes in a Portal to the left of the word search bar and when all items have been spotted, the portal will close. You will also Recycle cans, bottles, and paper found in each scene, and when all recyclables have been found, the Recycle Can icon lid will close. There are 16 Photo-op scenes that have a Camera Icon which allows you to take a photo for the photo album so don't forget to keep an eye out for those Photo Ops.
You will earn an Eagle Eye achievement if you don't use either the Hint or Mega Hint feature. The Magnifying Glass will show you a hint of one item and the Mega hint will show you the location of every item left to find. You'll earn a Bronze Star for completing the Search, a Silver Star if you find all Lost & Found items OR all Recyclable Items, and a Gold Star if you find all Lost & Found items AND all Recyclable items. Words listed in Blue require an interaction of some type, and words in Red are hidden inside or behind things, requiring you to click on an item to Open it or Solve it, which will reveal the hidden item. Most of the scenes have a Zoom Zone (indicated by sparkling stars) that have hidden items and sometimes include Recyclables or Lost & Found items. Levels can be replayed at any time to better your score or pick up missing Recyclable items or Lost & Found items. and the items to find are different each time you replay it.
After each Search Scene, you'll play a variety of Mini Games such as Placing Map Shapes, Spot The Difference, Word Search, or several different types of Jigsaw Puzzles (Rotate Squares, Swap Tile Sections, Flipsaw's, etc) The CE version includes a ton of replayable mini-games!

fromIt's a good thing Fairy Godmother is of sound mind, otherwise that lost & found contraption may have been too much, but then again, she did lose something of importance in the first place!?

When you wish upon a suitcase, makes no difference who you are, but if you're the godson of Fairy Godmother, let's hope that you run hard! Ever wish that you could make a wish that you'd never have to worry about anything? That's exactly what Fairy Godmother's godson Kai wished, the problem is, he bought a wish from The Seller, and now he doesn't worry or care about anything or anyone. To make matters worse, he's on his way to see The Snow Queen and you'll never believe what he wants from her!
Sure, it's a great story, Domini always tells a great fairy tale, but they never bother to change how the player gets through the story. The opening scene has me picking a lock on my own purse, again! Blowing away smoke so I can see what's on the table, again! Using a diamond ring to cut glass, again!, Retrieve items in a sewer grate, again! Replace a missing wheel so I can get through the gate, again! Rake leaves, sift through a dirt pile, again! Melt the ice to get an item, again! Cut wires, tape wires, again! Retrieve items too high to reach, again! Unscrew bolts, pop out nails, again! Scare away crows, again! This all happens within the first 3 scenes...a paragraph full of the same cliche tasks that are repeated over, and over in 8 very long chapters that could have been told in 4. It makes me insane when I'm doing senseless tasks in one chapter and find myself doing the exact same things in the next 7 chapters, 7 times over...why????????
Gadgets/Helper:
Fairy Godmothers need a Magic Wand so as soon as she retrieves it from the Lost & Found bin (I kid you not!) you're good to go. The Magic Wand transforms objects but of course, it's a one and done charge and requires a recharge after each use with 3 Magic Crystals. The Magic Wand is used 5 times during the Main Chapters only and not in the CE Bonus Chapter at all.
Collectibles & Morphing Objects (CE Version Only):
There are 15 Morphing Personal Items and 15 Glass Character Shards. There are 70 Zoom Zone Coins that can be used to purchase 15 boring Suitcase Items...doesn't everyone secretly desire to decorate a suitcase? There is an optional Collection Icon Tab that can be enabled or disabled in the settings as well.
Hidden Object Scenes:
There are 12 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter and an alternate Match 3 Game available, which btw, doesn't allow you to make consecutive matches quickly. (you have to wait for all tiles to stop falling before you can make the next match) I knew the HOP's were going to be less than desirable when the first one required me to make my own tea because the barista was clueless, and the counter was disgusting! (and I used milk that was unrefrigerated!) There were Interactive Listed Item Finds, Vertical & Horizontal Slider Bar Finds, Spot the Differences, Combo Silhouetted Shape Finds, Matching Pair Finds, Keywords in Sentence Finds as well.
Mini-Games:
There are 17 Mini-Games +4 in the CE Bonus Chapter. You can choose to play them in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode and you can choose which mode to have them start out in the Custom Setting (you can still switch between modes for each individual game) Below are a few of my personal favorites:
1-Place element tokens in the correct order.
2-Navigate through the map by dragging the feet and finding & using items to overcome obstacles.
3-Rotate lines on a diamond-shaped grid to replicate the pattern.
4-Shoot balls into their color-coded slots.
Bonus Chapter (CE Version Only)
Did Fairy Godmother just ask the Seller for that youth wish, cuz the clock hands have spun back in time! Fairy Godmother has just graduated from the Academy and Detective Goodwin joins her on her very first case as Taleworld is faced with Dark Magic by an evil witch named Odette. This is an above-average-length Domini chapter spanning over 10 scene locations with just 4 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes, You will continue your search for the final 3 Morphing Personal Belongings, 3 Glass Character Shards, and 10 Zoom Zone Coins (of varying amounts) which allows you to purchase the final Suitcase Items. Honestly, after 8 long, repetitive chapters, I was just ready for the game to be over and this chapter seemed more of a chore than a delight.
Collector's Edition Extra's: (CE version only)
18 Wallpapers, 15 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 27 Movie Video Cutscenes, 39 Achievements, 16 Replayable Mini-Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 15 Morphing Personal Belongings,15 Glass Character Shards, a gazillion Missing Notes, 70 Zoom-Zone Coins, 15 Suitcase Items (purchase with Coins...boring) 8 Main Chapters (really?) +Bonus Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide.
