The graphics are good, and the voice-acting pretty good as well. Unfortunately, however, the storyline is neither very interesting nor very original. Just another story about portals and some Evil seeping through... The only new "twist" is that a good guy (actually an elf) also comes through. He is supposed to be a guide but, as it happens, ends up needing our help instead! And then, he disappears altogether, leaving *us* to finish *his* task!
The game has three modes. But if you, like me, like to play in the hardest mode, think again, in this game! It's not just that there are no hints (there usually aren't, in this mode), but the game is not always very logical. Thus, we keep finding objects and it is not always clear where we are supposed to use them or how. As such, the game can become quite frustrating, very quickly, in the hard mode.
Finally, there are very few puzzles and even less Hidden-Object scenes, and none of them are really challenging or interesting.
Needless to say, I did not enjoy this game at all. So, unless you are just looking for something to play for the sake of playing, and don't care much for a good storyline and some fun and challenging puzzles,
I don't recommend this game.

I rarely, if ever, give a game such a low rating, but this one really deserves it... :( For one thing, the title is misleading. If there is anything *substantive* related to the Knights Templar, it's just the *journal entries*, packing bits of historical information in a short page or two, at the beginning of just about every chapter. You can get more detailed (and, no doubt, more credible) information online!
Oh, the game makes *references* to the Templar mystery, but it's more by implication - how the heroine is in *hot pursuit* of the Holy Grail, etc. Then again, the story itself is so ... well, skimpy ... it is hard to say what is exactly going on. More specifically, you get about 10 seconds of dialog followed by some 30-40 minutes of puzzle-solving! The facts that there is NO voice acting AND that those dialogues basically roll by, without requiring you to "Click to Continue" (which is probably one reason there is no voice acting - it would have taken longer than 10 seconds for actors to actually voice those dialogues!) only make those bits of storyline less memorable. Thus, by the time you finish with the puzzles, you have all but forgotten what had led you to those puzzles and what you were going for, in the first place!
As for the puzzles now... They are mostly Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs). Ordinarily, I don't mind - and sometimes even love - if a game is primarily HOPs without much of a storyline. But these HOPs were... well, rather ridiculous! For one thing, the objects are often so tiny. Moreover, the scenes themselves are basically an incredible *clutter* of objects. The new gimmick of scrolling in this game makes the HOPs even worse, since you now have to find those *tiny objects* in not one but *two* or so pages of terribly cluttered scenes!
In addition to the HOPs, there are some other puzzles, e.g., compare-the-differences type. There is a new twist to these compare-the-differences puzzles, but this twist makes those puzzles even worse. As you may have noticed in other games, these puzzles usually require you to just click to find some 10-12 differences between two pictures. Not in this game! No, you actually have to spot the difference, then click and *drag* objects around to make the scene on the right look just like the one on the left. Not only that, you have to thus rearrange some 30 or so objects in each of these puzzles!
You also have some puzzles where you have to put pieces of pictures together. But, again, there is a twist to make these puzzles worse too. You often get not one but two, possibly even three, such pictures that you put together; and often, right after you finish piecing together the pictures, you then have to immediately play HOPs on all those pictures, having to switch from one picture to another to do so!
Finally, you have (yet another) *variation* on the Match puzzle. Again, as you may recall from other games, you usually make chains of gems, bubbles, etc., which then disappear as you make the chain. You do have to make chains in this game too - of colored dots - but you are given a *list* of how many chains you must make, and of what specific color and length. Worse, dots of different color pop up - at random (i.e., without any rhyme or reason as to how many such dots would appear or where) - disrupting the chain you are trying to make.
Needless to say, ALL of the above-described problems are only exacerbated if you are playing the game in the Timed mode! That mode requires you to finish ALL 5 (and sometimes even 6) puzzles in a chapter in something like 30-40 minutes; and if you *don't* finish them in that time, you have to start the chapter, with ALL of those puzzles, all over again...
In short, this game is ... well, pretty bad... in so many ways. Even the twists it has made in the puzzles so common in HO games (HOPs, Compare-the-Pictures, Matching) serve to make those puzzles just tedious and sometimes even annoying. So I can't advise anyone to waste their money on this game; and that is why
I don't recommend this game.

The storyline is ... well, somewhat interesting... but is flawed in too many ways. For one thing, the game's very title is misleading since there are NO witches OR warlocks in the game! Second, I don't know why the developers thought it was a good idea to cast the heroine as a lawyer. It's just not believable that a lawyer would go searching for some *totem*, especially when, in this case, all the heroine had to do to blow the police's case against her boyfriend was point out that they very well couldn't charge him for murder, because they didn't even have a body to prove that there had been any murder at all! What's more, her reassurances to her boyfriend at the beginning of the game that she could find the totem because, as a lawyer, she was used to solving complex puzzles, were rather pointless because the game had no such complex puzzles at all!
But the problem was not just the lame storyline. The music was rather monotonous - like someone playing the same notes, over and over. The graphics were rather good, but they failed to make the Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs) interesting. The other puzzles were neither fun, nor even challenging. In fact, in many cases, we are actually given the solutions as clues recorded in our journal. And if no solution/clue is given, then you can rest assured that the puzzle is *so* simple that there is no need to give us any such solution/clue. In some of these cases, all you have to do is just flip every switch on a device. In other cases, you can easily solve the puzzle by trial-and-error alone.
As if the other problems were not bad enough, I should warn you that the game also has bugs. I noticed a lot of people complaining about them online. Thankfully, however, I ran into only one bug: the game "allowed" me to leave a "world," even though I hadn't even finished all my tasks there! After finishing the game, I actually replayed it, and again the game almost passed me on to the next stage of the game having finished even fewer tasks, this time because I had clicked somewhere in the sky because the Hint had prompted me to do so. [Note: I say "almost" because, thankfully again, I quickly and deliberately crashed the game when that section's concluding scene began, by pressing the Windows icon and closing the game from the Windows' taskbar on my Desktop. When I resumed the game, it returned me to the point before I had clicked in the sky. For those of you who might be curious, this happens in the section where we meet a Pilot, hiding away in his bunker.] Don't worry though. It is not a fatal bug. In other words, you can still finish the game; but it *can* be rather annoying and leave you wondering as to what you missed in that portion of the game.
Oh, I should also point out that there is also a wrong *instruction* for one of the puzzles in the same Pilot section of the game, telling you to press 4 buttons when in fact you need to press only 3 buttons in each of the four sectors of the puzzle.
Finally, I should tell you that the ending made absolutely no sense to me at all, especially in light of what we discovered in the segment of the game just before. But I can't say any more about that. You will see what I mean IF you should decide to play this game.
In short, I really didn't care much for this game. Unless you just want to kill some time, playing a game with really no meaningful storyline, HOPs and other puzzles,
I don't recommend this game.

This game is a sequel to "Chronicles of Albian: The Magic Convention." If you haven't played that game, however, don't worry because, even though most of the same characters appear in both games, the storylines are not related in any way. In fact, the first game has no storyline at all! You were just summoned to help the Fairy Godmother renovate her castle and you did so by raising funds by playing a whole slew of Hidden-Object (HO) and other puzzles.
In contrast, this second game actually has a pretty complicated storyline, as explained in the Big Fish description of the game. This game also has a lot of other improvements over the first game. If you have played that other game, you will recall that its graphics were... well, rather dull and grainy. In addition, the HO scenes were all an incredible *clutter* of really tiny objects. So it was really hard to find the HO items from our lists. In addition, you got a maximum of only 5 hints; and if you used some hints, you could replenish them only by finding Fairy Wands in the next scene. But these Wands were quite small and as difficult to find as the HO list items themselves! What's more, you had to struggle with the same tiny objects in the Compare-the-Pictures puzzles, and there you didn't get *any* Fairy Wands or HInts at all. And, needless to add, there were no Hints to help you solve the other puzzles. [But we can't complain about that because most HO games don't provide you with any hints in these other puzzles anyway.]
In contrast, the present game has really great graphics, there is no clutter of objects in the HO scenes, and the items from our lists are all pretty fair-sized. In addition, you get a Hint globe, very much like that in other HO games. What's different about this globe, however, is that it needs only a few *seconds* to charge. Thus, you have practically unlimited hints, not only in the HO scenes but even in some other puzzles!
In short, the game is a lot of fun overall. The graphics are great, the music is absolutely wonderful, and the HOPs and other puzzles are all quite fun and interesting. About the only thing I did *not* like though were the Achievements... There were just so many of them! You get some of them automatically as you play the game (e.g., solving a certain number of puzzles, meeting all the characters, etc.). You get some others by doing things which help you raise more funds anyway (e.g., finding a certain number of fairies, gems, etc.). But then, there are achievements that have absolutely nothing to do with the main game (e.g., watching the credits, setting a wallpaper on your desktop, etc.)! But truly the worst are the achievements related to the so-called "Seek & Sprint" levels. These are really what are known as "Unlimited Hidden Objects" in other games. The problem is that this game requires you to play and find a total of 2003 objects *FIVE* different times, with each level giving you *LESS AND LESS* TIME to find those objects! Thus, the first level ("Piece of Cake") gives you 4 hours to find those 2003 objects, and the succeeding levels give you less and less time until the 5th and last level gives you only TWO HOURS to find them! But you need to play all five levels, even though you get trophies only for the first and last, because you can't get to the last level until you have completed the preceding four! So it can get really crazy, going through the same scenes, trying to find the same objects, one level after another after another...
CONCLUSION: The main game is a lot of fun, but beware of those achievements! It can be quite addictive to try to win all of them, but be careful not to get too worked up over them. Even with good graphics and fair-sized objects, it can still be terribly straining on your eyes as you "race against time" trying to complete those levels. If you are careful about that, you will no doubt enjoy this game as much as i did. And that is why
I recommend this game!

The storyline is pretty simple, as explained in the description of the game. In fact, it serves merely as a framework for a whole lot of puzzles. Nevertheless, unlike many games with such simple storylines, this one is actually fun, with a lot of different characters providing even comic relief, breaking the monotony that might have arisen if we had to just play one puzzle after another.
Most of the puzzles *are* Hidden-Object Puzzles (HOPs). But there are several other puzzles too. In the beginning of the game, we seem to have mostly Find-10-of-This/That puzzles, which are really HOPs having only one item on the list and requiring us to find 10 of that item. Later on, however, there is actually a puzzle preceding every HOP, and there is a whole variety of such puzzles: Matching, Compare-the-Differences, Sudoku, Replaying Piano Keys, Sliders (just to name a few). All these puzzles are a lot of fun, and there are 8 of each, with the difficulty level rising from easy to rather hard.
I should note that the game has only two difficulty modes: Relaxed and Timed. But the Timed mode applies only to the HOPs. Don't worry though, because you get several aids to help you in solving those HOPs. Thus, you can find a Fairy in each scene and, if you click on it, it will fly off and *randomly* take one of your list items from the scene. You can also have a maximum of 5 hints per scene. Unlike most games, the hints don't "recharge" after a certain time. But you can find the necessary number of Fairy Wands to *replenish* the hints you had used up in the preceding HOP. [For example, if you had used up 2 of the 5 hints in one HOP, you should try to find 2 Fairy Wands in the following HOP.] You will also find any number of Gems in every HOP. These gems will provide you with some coins, adding to the funds you are trying to raise to help the Fairy Godmother upgrade her Castle and its surroundings. Finally, from time to time, the game will actually Highlight an object from your list in the scene itself, thus pointing out its location.
As I indicated, you don't have to worry about any time limits in the non-HOP puzzles, even if you are playing the game in the Timed mode. In fact, you can take all the time you need to solve them! But you also don't get any of the aids (Fairies, Wands, etc.) you get with the HOPs. But each puzzle does come with clear instructions as to what you need to do and, yes, you can always SKIP any puzzle. The only downside to skipping a puzzle is that you won't get the coins you would have gotten as a reward or payment for solving it. But don't worry! You really do get plenty of HOPs and puzzles to raise the amount necessary to make those upgrades for the Fairy Godmother. In fact, I noticed that even after the game ends, including the final credits, you can still go back in the game, click on PLAY, and get more HOPs with the coins showing in the lower-right! So I suppose you can get more coins and use them to get higher upgrades than some of those you might have gotten during the main game itself. But I really can't say because I did not play after the main game ended.
In short, this is truly a wonderful game. The music is really nice and the graphics are quite attractive too. But it would be very remiss of me not to note this one critical point. The objects in the HOPs and the Compare-the-Differences puzzles are *really* very small. And, as I indicated, you have to search each scene even for the aids you get in the HOPs. Thus, Fairies, Wands, Gems, even the game's occasionally highlighting an object from your list, all are like hidden objects themselves that you must find in the scenes before you can use them; and they are all *just* as small as a lot of the objects on your list. What's more, as I pointed out, you don't even get ANY of these aids in the Compare-the-Differences puzzles. Finally, the game is such fun, it can be quite addictive! Thus, you might well want to continue, one scene after another, without even realizing how much you might be straining your eyes...
So be sure to take frequent breaks and not strain your eyes too much at a time in playing these HOPs *and* the Compare-the-Difference puzzles. If you take this care, then I am sure you will enjoy this game as much as I did. And that is why
I recommend this game!

The name of the game suggests that it is about witches. Well, it does have one witch, at least. But, unlike most games on witches, this one is not set in some Medieval times. Rather, it takes us into a world of pure fantasy. Not only that, it even has an element of Gulliver's Travels, since the inhabitants of this world are said to be Lilliputians! But then, the Lilliputians of this game look more like *elves* than just the tiny humans in the actual novel. In short, the game's is quite a hodgepodge of a story and certainly not my cup of tea... :(
Having said that, I should note that the game does have some positive features. The graphics are quite vivid and clear. The Hidden Object Puzzles are equally vivid and also pretty easy. The other puzzles are also quite easy, except for two - which I should point out are actually exactly the same as two I had encountered in another game: Mystery of Unicorn Castle - The Beastmaster (Collector's Ed.)! Again, I should note that the Credits of the present game (Witchcraft: Pandora's Box) failed to even appear, either at the end of the game or from the tab given in the game's Main Menu! So I couldn't check to see whether the developers of this game are the same as that of the Beastmaster and so they might have just been too *lazy* to come up with two new challenging puzzles and used them from their old game - OR - whether the developers of this game simply ... well, stole... those two puzzles from the developers of the Beastmaster. If the latter is true, then that was not nice nor even necessary because those puzzles did not do anything to enhance the quality of the game.
Finally, I should note that the game might be just fine for children, beginners, or anyone wanting to play a simple though rather weird game, without regard to a sensible storyline or background setting. All I know is that it did not do anything for me; and that is why
I don't recommend this game.

It is true that I am not a great fan of science fiction games. Still, I *have* found some such games quite interesting. Sadly, this game was *not* one of them.
The game keeps referring to an earlier case where the detective had helped this same girl. I must confess I never played that game. Still this game gives enough information about that earlier game to figure out the gist of what had happened before. But the information does not make *that* game sound any more interesting than this one, and the constant references to that earlier case does not help this game much. In fact, after a while, those references just become rather annoying.
What was even more annoying, however, was that the girl the game's detective had helped before and was now helping again, *tagged* along in the investigation, kept on popping up on the screen, making comments and observations that the *detective* should actually have been making! In fact, we never even see or hear a peep out of the detective herself, not even in response to any questions the client girl poses to her. All we do see is whatever thoughts are jotted down in the diary. Now I know that it is not uncommon in games that players don't get to see or hear the detective. This is usually done when the developers want to hide the detective's gender so that the players can identify with the detective, no matter what their own gender may be. But that was quite unnecessary in *this* game because the detective has been identified at the very beginning as one Amy Turner, in a Letter of Thanks that a Mayor has written to her! Thus, this game had already identified its detective's gender and so there was no reason for it to *hide* the detective's face and voice...
Having said all that, I should note that the graphics *are* pretty good and the music is nice. The Hidden Object Puzzles (HOPs) are pretty fair and easy. The other puzzles are not that interesting though, especially the ones where you have to randomly figure out and match OR, worse, try to manually *position* lasers, for example, where you really need to have a lot of dexterity to get those lasers in just the right spot.
Finally, I should note that the Hint system was really good, helping out even in the story itself, and not just in the HOPs. The Map is equally good, allowing us not only to move from one location to another, but also showing *where* an action is immediately available.
In short, while the game does have some good features (HOPs, Map, Hint system), it was much too boring for me. If you enjoy science fiction though, don't really care about a great storyline and would like to play just for the sake of HOPs and trying out your hand at tedious puzzles, you might well enjoy this game. Otherwise,
I don't recommend this game.

This was truly a great game, in every way. The storyline was wonderful. Although I was able to figure out rather early on what might have been going on, it was still intriguing to wait and see how the issues would be resolved.
The voice-acting was a bit ... well, forced. But the graphics, the music, and the dialogues themselves were all quite wonderful, enhancing the storyline and making the game fun to play.
The Hidden-Object Puzzles (HOPs) were quite fair and fun also. The other puzzles did not come with any Help gadgets to tell us just what we were required to do to solve them. But then, they were pretty straightforward and so it did not take much effort to figure out what we needed to do.
The Map was quite helpful. I played in the Expert mode, so I don't know whether the easier difficulty levels had any signs to tell us what we needed to do where. But it did provide me with a handy way of getting from one location to another, just by clicking on the desired location.
Last but not least, the Hint system was great, even in the Expert mode. Not only can you use it in the HOPs, you can use it anywhere in the game, if you get stuck and don't know where to go and/or what to do with what.
I should note that there *is* a bug in the game, which can be quite fatal, making it impossible to finish the game. Not to worry though because you can find a great "workaround" that bug online. Just look up "Coffin / Box Tile Bug Workaround" and follow the instructions!
In short, I really loved this game. It was fun, easy, *and* interesting in every way. I enjoyed it and I believe you will too. That is why
I recommend this game!

The storyline is original and interesting. However, it is not much of a witch or witchcraft story, as the beginning of the game suggests. Oh, there is a wizard at least; but he is more of a background character. And, yes, there is at least one spell at play; but that too is a bit of a background detail. Instead of witches and spells, the story is dominated by pirates and smugglers! What's more, I always heard of witches and spells associated with Medieval times. And, yes, the setting certainly depicts a pretty good Medieval picture. But then, it is overshadowed by a robot, flying machines, and what not! So pretty much of a hodgepodge of eras, neither historical nor even very realistic...
Indeed, the game is just *too* filled with gadgetry. Certainly not my cup of tea, and especially since I was expecting a more realistic depiction of Medieval times and not something more of a science fiction than anything else...
Having said all that, I must say that the graphics were quite vivid, realistic, and pleasant. The music was fine, and the voice-acting was great. The Hidden-Object Puzzles were quite original and interesting, certainly nothing like the now-run-of-the-mill types where you are given a list of items that you must find in a scene. The other puzzles were pretty interesting too, and quite fair.
I would also like to note that the game offers essentially three difficulty modes (as well as a custom mode). I always like to play in the hardest mode, which is "Expert" in this game. But that mode is truly horrific in this game because you are offered practically NO help at all! For example, there are no magnifying-glass icons to show what to examine; no hand icons to indicate what you can pick up; no gear icons to highlight objects you can interact with; and no arrows to even indicate exits to a different location. While some puzzles do have a "Help" tab at the bottom which, when pressed, gives you some instruction as to what you are required to do, most puzzles do not have even that! Thus, the Expert mode can be a real challenge, to say the least.
Overall though, it is a pretty nice (even cute) game. So, if you don't mind the curious mixture of the Medieval and the Machine ages, and would like to try a game that offers a variety of modes (from a rather easy to a really challenging one), then you should enjoy this game. And that is why
I recommend this game!

The storyline is original and *very* interesting. The graphics are great and the music is wonderful. The Hidden Object Puzzles can be a bit challenging, but they are quite fair; and, of course, you can always use the Hint.
The other puzzles are quite fair too. I should note that the actual instructions for the puzzles are at the bottom of the screen. Although they refer you to the "?" in the upper-right corner for more help. you will find that that "?" section not only explains the puzzle in greater detail, it even gives you the actual solution! So be careful looking that up, if you would rather solve the puzzle all on your own.
Last but not least, the Map is a great help. It not only shows and takes you to the various locations in the game, it even points out just where an action is available, even in the hardest difficulty mode.
In short, I really enjoyed this game in every way and I think you will too. That is why
I recommend this game!
