Dangerous Games: Prisoners of Destiny Collector's Edition
You came to the town of Brownville, Louisiana hoping to find a new job. But you weren't expecting to stumble upon a strange adventure in a world filled with beauty and danger!
Based on completion of the main and bonus games I found this the most beautifully visual game I've ever played.
This game wasn't easy IMHO but I made good use of the strategy guide. There are puzzle shaped collectibles in most of the scenes and they are usually very well hidden. I found all but one.
The HOS consists of only junk piles and are not revisited. I really enjoyed these scenes as they were filled with lovely things to look at. You really have to look carefully to find the items, but they are all in plain sight. I loved these.
Most of the puzzles were fairly easy but there were some I just gave up and skipped. Even using the SG I couldn't solve it.
This is the first game I didn't use the hint button once so I can't say how it works. The map gave me all the help I needed (well that and the strategy guide).
There was another Dangerous Game that came out this week and since BF was doing a 2 for 1 sale I chose to buy this one and I'm so glad I did. You should play the demo and make your own decision. For me this was a must have.
Based on completion of the main and the bonus game. I really like the storyline but there were issues with the voices which caused me to rate this lower.
There isn't a map and one would have been nice. There is a diary and a good strategy guide. There are no morphing items or collectibles. There is a raven which helps reach things up high, but you must first find the amulet which gives the raven one life.
The HOS are lists and silhouettes which are interactive. I considered them easy but fun.
The hint button doesn't work outside the HOS.
The puzzles are fairly easy but I could not figure out how to do the last puzzle of the bonus game so I had to skip it. Very frustrating.
I think most people will enjoy this game.
I recommend this game!

Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Premature Burial Collector's Edition
A young man has hired Detective Dupin to solve a mysterious case in Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe’s The Premature Burial!
Based on completion of the CE. There are only 2 modes of game play. This has one of the best story lines I've ever played. The characters are clearly defined and the voice overs are well done.
This game has no map, no walk through, no use of hint outside the HOS, and no bonus game. What it does have is a useful notebook and a very detailed SG both of which I used often. I really missed the map, but the SG always put me in the correct direction.
This game is full of HOS, so if you don't like HOS then you'll not like this game. There are many, many mistakes in the descriptions in the HOS, e.g., comb for brush and bottle for box; the items are well hidden in plain sight. Most of the items are very small. All are lists and the locations are revisited.
I didn't think the help for the puzzles was much help, but the SG was.
For an old game, I found this better than some that have come out lately -- and there were no technical issues! Play the demo and see for yourself. I'm glad I purchased this game and recommend it.
I recommend this game!

Excursions of Evil
Audrey makes her living writing about her extreme adventures. But will she be able to retell this tale?
This game is so bad I won't even waste my time in giving it a review. Everything about this game is poor. I played 11 minutes. Wont' buy and won't recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

Syberia - Part 1
Search a mysterious estate and find a brilliant and mysterious inventor in Syberia, Part 1! Experience the first part of this incredible trilogy!
Based on about half of the demo in the easiest of modes. I'm stuck. I prefer hidden object games but decided to give this a try. I'm already lost. I'm even at a loss for words to write this review (which is a first for me LOL).
There isn't anything about this game I like.
I don't recommend this game.

Blood Oath
With no memories of your past life and a never-ending hunger, it’s time to embrace a new life as a vampire in Blood Oath!
Based on about 10 minutes of the demo, I really didn't like this game. There are no voice overs and lots of dialogue. I think the character, which you/I play, has just become a new vampire. You wake up in a room with no viable exit and there is someone to great you telling you, you are in danger and must make it to the safe house. You have to find an area which turns red when you cursor over it. Then, where the inventory normally is, there is a list of 3 or 4 things which you must find in the clutter. Once you find the items it takes 8 or more seconds for those items to blend together so you can pick them up and use on the highlighted red area,
Too much hand holding.
You should play the demo before purchasing. For me this is a no buy and I don't recommend.
I don't recommend this game.

Rebuild the European Union
Gather resources, solve puzzles and immerse yourself in the history of Europe's most famous landmarks in this fun Match 3 game.
I completed the demo and had just begun level 2. Whew! I'm exhausted. Let's start at the beginning.
There are 3 levels - timed, timed and relaxed (whatever that means) and my favorite -- relaxed -- which I chose.
Lots of reading, beginning with the story, but the dialogue went by so quickly I didn't get to read it all -- not a good start, so I won't even begin to tell you what the story is about.
So the M3 started out relaxed, making matches over colored tiles while making a certain number of matches of each of the 4 tile faces, i.e, brick, wood, glass, and -- oh gosh, I forgot what the 4th tile was in the beginning.
But then the tutorial got confusing and tiles started moving while playing a repetitive tune -- nerve wracking! Then there was my first puzzle --putting square tiles onto a very blurry background to form a picture of a building "I" had just saved. This took some time, but my nerves healed (LOL) and I enjoyed it very much.
Then I was at the second level. I never finished the first game and my nerves were already frazzled.
I haven't read any of the reviews and I usually do but I didn't want my opinion influenced which sometimes can happen particularly a game that is very different, which this certainly is. I wouldn't play this if I owned it. If there had been a help section which I could have read at my leisure explaining the rules again things might have been different, but unfortunately there wasn't one, so a no buy for me. I think you should play this game before rushing in to buy it. For those who rated this a 4 or 5, my hats off to you. You must have nerves of steel LOL. This isn't my preferred genre -- HOPA are,so I tried not to be too critical of this game.
I don't recommend this game.

Clover Tale: The Magic Valley
Get ready for thrilling adventures in the Nifflings' Valley, where a wide array of puzzles are waiting to be solved!
Based on about half of the demo. This visually is bright and has cute figures. That's the only positive I can say about this game.
I first thought this was surely directed to children, but unless they are good readers they won't be able to play this game. I'm a good reader and I still couldn't remember everything I needed to know (BTW I'm a senior citizen) and I don't think it has anything to do with my age.
I wasn't asked my name at the beginning of the game nor was there a mode to choose from. You just start following the little "nippers" or whatever they are called and start playing a M3. It went down hill pretty quickly. Looks like you only have a certain amount of moves to complete a level. But then you can get additional time/moves; and you can buy additional time/moves after the first ones don't help you complete the level. You then have the option to replay the level.
There were also some things in the upper left corner that I assumed would get rid of a space. I chose a fire ball and it did get rid of the iced space but it stayed and the space was no longer usable -- so it is now an obstacle! Really?
I gave up after that and went to look for the main menu -- there is an "exit" sign down in the lower right of the screen. I chose it and came to write a review.
You should definitely play the demo to make up your own mind but for me this is a no buy and I don't recommend it for anyone.
I don't recommend this game.

Holly: A Christmas Tale Deluxe
Help Santa find the items he needs on Christmas Eve! Let Holly: A Christmas Tale fill you with the spirit of the season!
Based on the demo, I found this game okay. Looks like it came out in 2011 and I imagine it was considered a great game. However, as we approach 2015 HOG have come a long way.
There is a story which pops up in little windows with a box of dialogue -- no voice overs. Nothing very interesting.
It's primarily a HOG which are list and silhouette forms. There is also find the differences puzzles. These are all very easy.
This game is suitable for everyone but I already have several Christmas-themed HOG and I don't need another. If it was free, I'd play it so I will recommend it.
I recommend this game!

Castle Secrets: Between Day and Night
Explore a castle full of secrets and save the world!
Based on the tutorial of the demo I have no idea how to play this game. For a HOP it sure has a lot of "rules" which I just didn't understand even though my hand was held through out the tutorial.
I tried to turn down the music but couldn't. It's either on or off so I opted for off.
There are no game-play modes.
There are no voice overs. Just a lot of reading.
Perhaps I should have tried to play past the tutorial but the screen was filled with so many objects (not hidden objects) I didn't know which to click on so I opted for the menu button to exit.
You should play the demo before purchasing this game. It looks like something from way back when. There are just too many "rules" for my taste. This is a no buy for me and I can't recommend it.
