This is a fairly well produced game with decent artwork and good VO. The HOS aren't too bad, and the HINT works well during game play. The puzzles I saw were OK, too. I only played the demo, but it was enough for me to determine that this game is not worth the CE price. You don't need the SG. It might be worth the SE price.
This has got to be one of the silliest games I have ever seen. The story mixes modern with fairy tales - you have a flashlight in a medieval setting where there are unicorns. How a cobra gets there from India is a real mystery. The artwork is good, but the VO stinks. The HOS are return objects to their place. I didn't like the puzzles, but the SKIP charges fast. The HINT works well during game play. I guess the game is OK if you don't get nauseated playing. I couldn't even stand to finish the demo.
As usual for this developer, the production is first rate with live actors. Too bad the rest of the game is bad. To begin with, the story is awful and is poorly told to boot. Game play is totally confusing - back and forth again and again. The HINT button is more than useless, it is wrong at times. There is a map, but it is also useless, showing some locations where action is needed but ignoring others. At random times, some girl pops up to show you a jump path opening - dumb. There aren't any HOS and the puzzles are simple. The game is long, too, making one wish the thing would end, please. I suggest one use a walkthrough just to avoid frustration. Better yet, avoid this dog.
My title says it all for me: the game is fun to play. There is an IA map that works very well as do the in-game hints. The HOS are good and so are the puzzles. The story is good with a twist at the end.
Game presentaion is OK, but that's the best thing I say about this game. The story is a confusing mess, and playing the game isn't any fun at all. This is a very poor effort on the developer's part.
A super production and well designed game in every way, artwork, presentation, VO and music. The story is intriguing and is well presented, except at the very end which left me a little unsure as to what happened - maybe I'm slow? The HOS and puzzles are good, with IA HOS as well as put objects back HOS. There is a lot of back and forth, but the IA map lets you get around that. The in-game HINT also works very well. You don't really need the SG. The map even shows where the "beyond" objects are located, although there doesn't seem to be any real reason to collect them. The bonus chapter is a prolog and isn't required to understand the main story unlike some games. I highly recommend this game, but I think the SE would be a better buy.
The Brothers Grimm have assigned the task of revealing the truth behind missing children in the town of Arbourshire; it is up to you to discover the secrets of the Fairy Tale Mystery, before it is too late.
This review is based on the demo only, which is all I'll ever play since I would never purchase this game. I thought the artwork and game production were OK and maybe above average. The HOS are the usual cluttered mess, but there isn't a penalty for clicking too much. As others have pointed out, there are some objects that shouldn't be there according to the period, but that's par for the course with most games. The HINT button works well during game play, pointing you in the right direction. There isn't a map, but I didn't feel one was needed. There is too much back-and-forth for my tastes, but, again, that seems to be par for the course in most games. The story is not the best, but is OK in my opinion. It's not the same old puppet story, I didn't think. I found the demo to be boring, though, and I didn't want to play any more - so I won't.
This is one of the best BFG games around. Excellent production with good artwork, good music and VO. The HOS are very good - no pile of junk here - with IA and some building an object from parts. There is an option to play dominoes if you want. The in-game HINTs work very well and charge fast. The puzzles are well-designed with some old standbys and some new. The map shows where action is needed. The story is very good and is well-presented. I especially liked the fact that the story was completed; i.e., there wasn't an abrupt ending as in so many games. The SE even has a "Last Chapter" that is really a prologue to the story. Great design; great game.
The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
The production of this game is nothing but super with live actors. The story and game play are awful. The in-game hints are not the best, but there is an IA map. HOS are different requiring moving around to find all the objects. The puzzles are awful and difficult. Objects needed are not always available at first - you have to do something somewhere else and come back to get the object from where you were before. Bad! I don't recommend this game as an SE even and especially as a CE. It's just not any fun.
This is an interesting game that is unlike most BFG games in its presentation. As others have pointed out, it's almost like watching a movie albeit with cartoon characters, and the story is pretty good. The HOS are awful! Little, bitty objects that are well hidden and disguised. There is a map showing where action is needed, but it's not IA. There aren't any hints during gameplay, just a list of tasks with pictures showing where they are. I wanted to like this game, especially since it was on sale, but it wasn't any fun for me at any price.
