I've gone back to this game numerous times over the months but it didn't get any better.
First and foremost, the graphics were just too dark and it was hard to see anything. I tried to adapt the graphics on my computer but couldn't make it any better.
The hidden object games were mostly just pictures of items and a lot of them I couldn't make out what they were. Eventually I just gave up.
Moving around with those silly footsteps was annoying and unnecessary.
All up, I hated the game and felt I had just wasted money on a game I couldn't finish.
Wow, if you love a good story and fancy a decent challenge, then come and play this game.
Now, this game is a little out of the norm. There are no modes of play, a journal or anything really. You are on your own. You have to collect little bugs as hints, if you need them. I absolutely loved the challenge.
The graphics are very good - bright and colourful and kind of like reading a comic book. Do you remember the days of camping out and sitting around a camp fire with your friends with a torch under your chin telling horror stories? Well, you will love this story. I jumped a few times, then laughed, as I felt a bit of an idiot.
Sound is good and there is creepy piano music to keep you company throughout the game.
There are no hidden object games but there are plenty of mini-games to do. These can be challenging but not too frustrating. I did them all without any head banging. There are sliding tiles to put in the right place, getting the wires connected to the car, put pieces of paper back together, etc - plenty to do.
There is a lot of moving around finding items you need but you are not travelling around to a lot of locations. You can't get lost or wondering where to go next.
All up the game took me about 5 hours to do, but I wasn't playing fast (well, you can't anyway). This game is challenging but just keep an eye out for the little bugs, if you need them. I used 2 hints, but didn't need the rest.
This game comes definitely recommended. I am now going to load down the next two episodes - 'Campfire Legends - The Babysitter' and 'Campfire Legends - Last Act'.
Well, if you want something different from all those cookie cutter games out there, you will find it in this game. The story line is easy to follow - find your daughter Lisa, but it has lots of twists and turns as well. You never know what is going to happen next.
You have Casual and Expert modes of play, a notebook and intermittent voiceovers. There is sound in the game but mostly you have to read what is said.
The graphics are okay - very colourful, a little cluttered, but I didn't have any problem deciphering what things were.
The hidden object games are finding related pairs, straightforward and matching what is in the left with the right. These had a very good challenge to them and sometimes took me a long time to do. I really enjoyed doing them.
The mini-games ranged from being easy to downright hard. However, I love a challenge and I definitely got what I asked for. There is lots of variety and I played a few mini-games that I hadn't seen before.
There is a lot to do in this game and I never found it boring or too challenging - however no hand-holding either.
The game took me all week to do and I was disappointed when it ended because I was enjoying it. Definitely recommended that you give this game a try. I'm now going to have a look to see if there is anything else out there by this developer. Well done.
I definitely did not like this game very much and thought it was too easy and childish.
In the main game you play Caroline Evans who has to find all the parents who have gone missing. The Bonus game is about Andy which took place 10 years earlier.
There is:
* Casual, Advanced, Hardcore and Custom modes of play; * Interactive map; * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Notebook/Journal; * Find flowers in the game and bonus.
The graphics are okay - very colourful and quite cluttered. However, you could see most scenes fairly clearly.
The hidden object games are interactive silhouette (where you find one item to use to find another item, etc), straightforward and answering questions by finding items. These were incredibly easy and took no time at all.
The mini-games were also very easy and I was able to do all of them in under a minute.
I found 120 flowers in the game and bonus.
There was no need to use the interactive map at all as you are only moving a couple of steps forward or backward, so it was pointless using it.
In the Secret Room you can replay the HOS and mini-games again to get to 100%. Boring. I wanted something more challenging.
All up the game and bonus took me about 4 hours to play. So not a long game.
Overall, I think the game is perfect for kids of between the ages of say 10-15 years, but too young for adults. So I recommend this game on their behalf. For the rest of us, I would give it a wide berth. However, in saying that, I thought the Bonus game was better than the main game. The main game started off just okay but went steadily downhill after that.
Definitely recommend that you trial this game first before buying.
This is a great all-rounder adventure game and definitely worth playing. There is:
* Voiceovers; * Casual and Expert modes of play; * Journal; and * Interactive map (which is inside the Journal).
The graphics are pretty good and easy to find everything you need. There is plenty of colour and its not too drab or dull.
The music kind of reminded of 1970s - lots of guitar and piano. I liked it. Each scene had a different piece of music.
The hidden object games are straightforward and you do them twice. These are not hard to do and only take a couple of minutes to do each one. This is one of those games where there are lots of them, but I enjoyed them.
The mini-games are fun. These had a good variety and none were too hard or boring. I did them all without becoming frustrated or annoyed.
You will refer to the journal a lot because that is where you will find the answers on how to do some of the mini-games. There is not a lot of reading to do and you can refer to it very quickly and move on. The interactive map is inside the journal if you need to use it.
All up the game took me about 5 hours to play during the week. I enjoyed it and was disappointed when it ended because I wanted to carry on.
I know this is kind of an old school game, but it does have its good qualities and definitely worth having a look at.
I truly loved this game. It has everything you could want. There is:
* Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Easy, Normal and Hard modes (you can turn Skip and Hint off); * Interactive map; * Diary; * 22 Achievements; * Find: ~ 35 morphing objects; ~ 9 cats; ~ 11 Statue of Liberties; ~ 8 Towers; ~ 7 ball and chains; and ~ 20 slides.
In the main game, the year is 1956 and you play Laura James. In the Bonus game it is 5 years earlier and you play the serial killer's father.
The graphics are superb - clear and easy to find everything you need. I loved going from scene to scene as I never knew what I would find next.
Sound and music are very good. The music is orchestral but adventurous and fast and I had it turned up very loud all the way through.
The hidden object games are interactive silhouette - find one item to use to find another item, etc. There was no deviation from this. Some of these took a while to do, so no hand-holding here. There are also little mini-games in them as well.
There were a huge variety of mini-games and I played them all. I thoroughly enjoyed them. These were not frustrating to do and I never felt that I couldn't complete one. However, once again, there was no hand-holding either.
I used the interactive map only fleetingly, however you will be travelling around to a lot of scenes, and I found it worked well.
I only managed to get 14 achievements, so I'll go back to the game later in the year and give it another whirl. I lost an achievement by only finding 32 of the morphing objects (doh!!). There were others like finding so many objects in so many seconds, etc. I'm hopeless at that. My brain and the mouse go off in two different directions!!
When you have found all the 20 slides, go into the Extras and you can play games by rotating the crystals to direct the ray of light through all of them. These ranged from easy to hard.
All up the game took me about 12 hours to play. This is a huge game with plenty to do in each scene, so you won't be bored here.
Definitely recommended that you give this game a try. It really is a gem. LOVED IT. Well done Five-BN Games.
There are: * Voiceovers; * Calm Seas, Gale, Hurricane and Custom modes of play; * Interactive map; * Use of compass to help you.
The graphics are gorgeous - colourful, bright and crystal clear. I had no trouble at all roaming around finding clues and getting items. There are no dark, blurry or indecipherable scenes at all.
Sound and voiceovers are very good. The music is orchestral and I didn't turn it down at all. The HOS music is piano.
The hidden object games are interactive straightforward and silhouette. Some of these had a good challenge to them.
There are a good variety of mini-games which had a few new ones I hadn't seen before and I enjoyed playing them all.
There is a compass that you use in certain situations. The compass will jump around and wobble, so you will know when to use it.
Even though we have an interactive map, I found that I didn't need to use it at all. You pretty much stick around the same area until all tasks have been done and you only need to go a couple of steps backward or forward, so there was no need to use it.
So, CE verus SE. In the CE you get 8 Achievements, find 37 seashells in game and bonus, find 13 morphing objects in the HOS and lots to do in the Extras. I personally think you would be happy with either one. However, I think Mad Head Games puts a lot into their extras which are worth getting.
I bought this game straight after buying 'I Know a Tale' from the same developers. This is an earlier game and quite enjoyable.
There are Casual and Expert modes of play and a Journal. However, there were no voiceovers, only dialogue, but it was short and to the point, so I didn't mind.
The graphics are good and it was easy to see and find everything I needed. The music was mainly orchestral and piano.
There were a lot of hidden object games to play, but they weren't hard to do. These were slightly interactive where some items were hidden inside or behind things and these were coloured differently, so you knew to scroll around and have a good look. All items were clear to see.
There were a good variety of mini-games which ranged from quite easy to downright hard. One game in particular - sliding the bolts out of the way, took me ages. So did a couple of other games, however I played them all and really enjoyed them.
The game took me about 4 hours to play - mainly playing the mini-games. Not a long game, but I have played shorter games in the past. I know this is an older type of game, but if you feel in the mood for lots of HOS and just chilling out, then this game is for you.
So overall, definitely recommended. The game was good graphics, great mini-games and HOS, and an easy story line.
I was shocked by the bad reviews of this game and just can't understand why. I thought this game was great. If the entire game had been played, and not just the demo, I think the reviews would have been so much better. I have also just bought 'Lost Tales Forgotten Souls' by the same developers and will be playing this next.
You have:
* Casual and Expert modes of play; * Live actors; * Journal; * Video camera to watch how everything happened; * Morphing HOS to charge the crystal.
I thought the graphics were mostly good. A few scenes looked sort of hand drawn but everything was easy to see and there were no dark or blurry scenes at all.
Sound was good. The music was orchestral and piano with some chanting.
The hidden object games were slightly interactive straightforward. However, to charge the crystal, there were morphing objects to find instead of a list. I thought that was cool and different.
There were a decent variety of mini-games and had a good level of challenge. A few took me a while to do and I enjoyed that. I played all the mini-games and none were too hard or frustrating.
You also find around some scenes video tapes to play to understand the story.
All up, the game took me about 6 hours to play, so good value for money.
I know a lot fishies didn't like that the live actors were not speaking English. Big deal - I still enjoyed it and thought the actors did a good job.
Please at least give this game a look - it really is worth playing. It has good graphics, story line and a challenge that makes it so worthwhile. We need to put our support behind the smaller developers, otherwise we will just keep playing the same cookie cutter games over and over again.
* Casual, Advanced, Hardcore and Custom modes of play; * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Interactive map; * Super puzzles.
The graphics are very good - kind of dark and grayish. There is some colour which is not gaudy or too bright. It is easy to roam around to collect everything you need.
Sound was very good. I liked the music which was orchestral and piano.
The story line is very easy to follow which is a big plus for me.
The hidden object games are interactive straightforward, silhouette and answering questions by finding certain items. Most of these didn't take long to do, although a couple of them took me a while to figure out how to do them.
I loved the mini-games and super puzzles. There were a huge variety of mini-games, with all the classics we love. Some of these I got straight away and others took me a while. The super puzzles were not too hard and I worked them out without becoming frazzled or grumpy.
So, the big question is do you get the CE or SE? My personal preference is the CE because you get all the extras of an Achievements Room (about 22 achievements I think), finding 12 Trophy Mask Collection in game and bonus; finding 20 morphing objects in game and bonus; finding the photo fragments in game and bonus and a Secret Room. So you really get your money's worth here.
Whether you get the CE or SE, this game is definitely recommended to put in your collection. Happy playing fishies.
