This review is based on playing the free trial for an hour.
Fairly simple story line - completion of each level sees a broom sweep away some snow from the island. Clear the island of all the snow.
This is a fairly straight forward match-3 game. Three modes - swap, chain or group. You are allowed to change mode during a level (can be quite useful for some of the later levels).
Each level you gain points and have a total time. You can proceed to the next level or return to previous levels to beat points or time.
Bonus points gained by clicking on yetis that appear on the side of the screen at random intervals (you need to be quick).
There are powerups - the penguins at the bottom of the screen have various tools in their arsenal - snowballs etc.
You gain exploding mushrooms during a level - use these immediately.
The usual obstacles (worms to unblock) and fish to drop to the bottom of the screen.
Nothing new here, but if you like relatively easy match-3 games you should enjoy this one despite the annoying music (turn the sound down).
Use a credit to "buy" this one. Recommeded for kids or if you just want a fun, easy match-3 game.
This is just a run of the mill solitaire game. Graphics very cartoonlike and background music is unobtrusive.
Storyline is the typical king dies, many successors thwarted by evil doer - you save the day. 10 lands to explore with each land comprising 10 games in the level.
Each stage has an objective (earn 3000 points etc) and you have a shop to buy upgrades (extra wild cards etc).
A different type of solitaire where you add to the master card at the botton of the screen.
There are a variety of "challenges" - collect flower cards to unlock vine cards, collect the candy card to unlock the pink cards etc.
The big negative is that there is no variety in the type of solitaire games.
Very repetitive and nothing really to keep you engaged.
If you like challenging solitaire games this is not for you. Also, there are a plethora of solitaire games of far better quality than this one to chose from.
Only played the demo for 30 minutes - that was enough. Storyline (about some mysterious lab) OK and graphics OK. No VO for the text - so a lot of clicking. Background music unobtrusive.
HOS - cluttered ,18 items to find (has a scrolling list) - too much, some very small items and far too many in a row.
No backout button/icon but you use a sparkle as an exit/entry point.
The only mini-game I played was the pins in the slot game - after 20 goes I gave up. NO SKIP BUTTON. Very frustrating.
Overall, a very boring HOG with the occasional frustrating mini-game.
With the excellent quality of so many other HOGs this is definitely not one to get at any price.
Only played the demo for an hour. This game is much easier if you have played the first Pahelika. The graphics are adequate and background music (what little there is) unobtrusive. Some parts have VO. There are no hints and no on-line strategy guide so you are a bit in the dark. Tasks and minigames not too challenging, although some really require you to put on your thinking cap.
I really enjoyed making the spells but as you need to complete a few to save going back and forth for supplies "stock up" on the ingredients the first time (take at least 5 of everything - paper, ether, the roots etc).
Teleporting back and forth to various locations is fun. I only completed the game as far as meeting the sage - so difficult to know how long this game will last.
Once you get the hang of it (it is worth persevering) this is quite an enjoyable game.
Overall, I would recommend this game especially if you are familiar with the first Pahelika.

This is certainly different from the normal Luxor Games - more like marble popper meets Star Wars. There is no real storyline to speak - just a futuristic type background. Graphics are very basic in that it is a space background and line drawing channels for the futuristic type marbles. There are four modes - the usual three plus the bonus elite mode after hardcore is completed. The usual powerups are present plus some new ones - paintball, bullets etc. There are achievement awards eg. 25 hits in a row etc and a high score league table. You only start off with one life and there are bonus rounds to complete. Some of the levels are fast.
The big differences are; - pulsing disco type very loud background music. - strobing or fireworks effects when marbles are blasted - minimalistic background.
I really enjoyed this game for an hour then my head started to hurt from the music and the strobing. I think I would only play this game in small doses.
Warning: the strobing effect which is quite intensive may make some people ill.
If you like marble popper only games this certainly is different and worth a try.

Only completed the demo and the 57 minutes just flew.
Storyline very intriguing - solve the mystery of the isle (who is that shadowy figure) and find the kidnapped journalists.
Graphics superb - music appropriately creepy and wonderful sound effects (lightning, rain).
HOS beautifully drawn and uncluttered. A mixture of straight list and use of inventory items. Not that difficult to find anything. Great use of objects and the resultant effect - monkey climbing the drain pipe - the cannon exploding. Some mini-games - matching segments of the ladder, matching notched rods - not difficult.
There are the usual achievement awards - finding objects in one minute, not skipping puzzles etc. 50 owls to collect - they can be found anywhere including HOS (not in the object list) so you need to look carefully in each scene/area.
There is an in - game strategy guide if necessary but hints are useful and fill quickly.
A very enthralling game and with the extra content probably worth the price of the CE.
I recommend this game!

Slot Quest: Wild West Shootout
Make your stand against the Red Bandanna Boys at the Not Bad Corral in Slot Quest: Wild West Shootout!
Only played the demo for an hour. Fairly basic storyline - run the bad guys out of town. Looks good - music typical saloon honky tonk but a bit loud (turn the sound down).
Four machines to play - bad girls (the first), oil tycoon, ricochet and bling. Each slot has 25 awards to attain (the usual ones). The challenges are the same - 100 wins, 7000 bonus, so many points in a particular time period.
Bad girls slot (the only one I played) has three bonus types - "blonde" sharp shooter for wilds, "redhead" bank robber for money and multipliers, "brunette" card sharp for red cards credits.
Contrary to the first reviewer these bonus rounds do not come up that regularly or as often as other slot games (card sharp only came up once in an hour - could take a very long time to achieve the 15 occurence award for each bonus type).
This game does not have AUTOPLAY like some other games - you do an awful lot of clicking (one of the awards is 500 clicks).
There is nothing really new in this game (except a wild west theme) - just another run of the mill slot game. Fun for an hour.
Storyline is to help the son of Saturn become a mighty god. Intro had VO (which was clear and precise) - very simply drawn. The game is colourful and the music a medieval style - OK. Then you start the first level and we have text with no VO (too much reading). Basically a resource management game (I don't like this type of game). The first task was to build the Magistrate's Hall - this consisted on clicking on the building button and moving the building around the screen until it turned green (hooray you have achieved your goal - really!!!). The second task was to obtain the specified resource - again, click on a glove, pick up fish, pick up rocks - hooray you have achieved your goal.
That was enough for me - the game may have got better but I wasn't willing to persevere. Far too simplistic, no real challenge, didn't engage me. If you like this sort of game, you may enjoy this one - I didn't so I am not going to recommend it.

This is a review of the demo. Jodie Drake is a travel photographer and you travel around the world loking for interesting photos. The different take on an HOG is achieved through the use of a photographic approach to hidden object scenes. It gives a purpose to searching for random objects. The graphics are good but not great. The cutscenes have VO but not in the game itself - annoying when lips move and no sound, you can skip through the text quickly. There are several levels to each stage comprising the HOS and puzzles. The HOS consist of silhouettes, missing pieces or a straight list of objects. The puzzle scenes are interesting (labyrinth, connecting pipes, jigsaws etc) but are not that challenging. There are a choice of modes - timed play or relaxed. There are unlimited hints but it takes 30 seconds to refresh. Sound FX are good and music is not annoying.
Overall I recommend this game, if like to find different ways to approach HOGs.
Storyline interesting - finding a house of your granparents full of inventions. Intro very good - engaging. Visually looks good and the use of VO is clear and crisp. The game suggests that you play with the sound on. Don't know why - it does not intrude, but it also does not enhance the game play.
A different style of HOG where you have groupings to find (silver objects, cylinder shapes etc) - they are not difficult and the HOS is uncluttered. Mini games simple with good instructions (connect pipes, railways tracks, moving balls into holes etc). Unlimited hints but it fills slowly. There is an onscreen strategy guide if you really get stuck. The demo only took me 30 minutes to complete and the strategy guide only has two chapters so I suspect that this is a relatively short game.
II do not think that it is worth buying as a CE and that is my reason for not recommending this game.
