I like the Far Kingdoms games and love solitaire - thumbs down on this one. Too much gab and some levels have to be played over and over because of locked cards where you have to get a sequence of cards - number on the locked card - and of course by the time you progress in the level you're down to few cards so can't make a sequence and buying extra cards doesn't help. Sorry I didn't read other reviews before I purchased this.
I thoroughly enjoy these Heroes of Hellas games - three was my favorite - and this one is on the way to replacing that. There's still the same game play format but different challenges and scenes and have found (at least so far) that this one is easier than the other three.
Game moves along without a lot of annoying extras, music is not particularly great but not intrusive to the game and enjoy the artwork in this one. Only downside is the main character is rather wimpy looking.
I just purchased this game and absolutely love it. So glad Jewel Match has gone to solitaire especially the one up/down - hate the ones that have all these complicated styles of play. The graphics are lovely, music is pleasant and not intrusive to the game play and am just delighted so far!
But frankly am tired of one mini game after another and having to keep going back and forth between screens. The graphics are very pretty but other than that same-O, same-O with having to find keys and other objects to complete a level.
Wish we'd go back to fun games like Gardenscapes and the like other than these over and over again type of games. Nothing seems to be just plain fun anymore.
On several issues. Loved the previous two VB and tho this one is interesting don't see the purpose of it being a CE. First you're told to read the descriptions, etc, giving "interesting" history but they shoot by so fast you can barely catch them. Graphics are a bit cartoonish especially Thor and Odin who look like kindergarten urchins. Like the music but as another reviewer stated going thru too fast you find yourself replying a level.
Will go back to this when I need a break from the gloomy games being offered these days (where's the fun ones)? but not something I'll play for hours.
Not a particularly challenging game but great if you just want some relaxation (but then always play casual for a new game). Of course the usual one up/one down solitaire with emeralds to find to build the castles, money accumulates quickly to buy power-ups and moves right along.
For those playing this type of game for the first time you'll continue to play on the same castle even tho completed - it will then move to the next one.
I love solitaire games especially if they have specials like building buildings, or fun mini games or even a story at all. This has none of the above. It's just basic one up, one down solitaire and that's it. Not bad if you need mental relaxation from all the gloomy games offered these days but for any kind of challenge not a one.
From the reviews was hoping this would be something different and fun - not so. Just the usual time management of finding an object, back and forth between screens and same-O, same-O. Wish we would get a variety these days as opposed to the usual format.
I love just basic solitaire which this game is, however, it's rather monotonous as OCCASIONALLY you get either a puzzle or having to find parts of a sword or key then back to the game. The really helpful power-ups cost a chunka change and takes awhile to accumulate the gold to get them plus find the goblin or whatever that will open another power-up. Plus some of the card selections make it hard to see what a card actually is - 0 turned out to be either a 10 or queen (can't remember) but you have enough selections to eliminate that problem.
On the plus side the music is pleasant and doesn't distract from the game play (like some do). So if you're tired of the hideous creatures and ugly faces like most games these days its worth the purchase to get a break from them.
Tho the characters are cute and the some of the post cards are funny there's really not a lot of challenge to this. Over and over accumulating resources and meeting particular goals which isn't anything out of the ordinary for a TM game. So if you need a game with "no brain drain" will recommend this as opposed to the usual offerings these days of doom, gloom, hideous creatures and ugly faces but don't expect a lot.
