While this game, Book Travelers - A Victorian Story Collector's Edition, doesn’t deserve the five-star rating that some have given it, it also doesn’t quite deserve the one- or two-stars given by others. It is, at best, a three-star game if for no other reason than it is a decent time-waster. Sadly, given the trash that Big Fish has offered us these past few years, a decent time waster is about the best that can be said about almost any so-called new game.
I’m not a fan of CE games, as you know if you’ve read even a few of my 70+ past reviews, but if I were I certainly wouldn’t be buying this very short, very unoriginal, very unexciting game.
Others have written lengthy descriptions of this game, and I won’t duplicate their good efforts, but I must comment on the story line which is, to the say the least, very banal.
The puzzles likewise offer nothing new. If you’ve played no more than two or three of this type game, you’ll quickly see that they are as familiar as your favorite, well-worn slippers!
The hidden object sequences have also been pulled from older games. So nothing new here either.
This game is certainly not worth the cost of a CE game, and will probably be a marginal value as an SE issue.
My current Big Fish point balance sits at 16,276 points and no, that number is not a typo! The reason for that is because there have been no games worth dropping a few to acquire, not for a very, very long time. Once, long ago, we long-time gamers would eagerly wait for a new release, but those days are far in the past. It is obvious to us that neither Big Fish nor the game-developers listen to our complaints, or even care that we have, and voice them.
I don't recommend this game.

I am amazed, stunned, awe struck, at how many clichés Domini was able to cram into the demo of Twin Mind - Ghost Hunter! You name it, it was there —a pile of dirt that you needed a spoon to dig up; a metallic thing that you needed a magnet to retrieve; a drink machine that you needed coins to operate; crows that you needed a bicycle horn chase to away . . . and on, and on, and on!
It would take a full page just to list all of the nonsense hoops that you have to jump through just to do every ordinary little thing just to get to the next ordinary little thing, but I think that you already get the point.
Okay, so what’s the story line? To tell you the truth, I was so busy trying to find ridiculous things, and so confused by the unnecessary and annoying switching between characters, that I’m having difficulty recalling what it was!
Wait, oh yes, there was a murder . . . or was it a series of murders? And there was something about robbery . . . but where it was, or how it connected to the so-called story; well, I must confess I just don’t have any idea!
The characters voices were dull, flat, devoid of any dramatic quality, and certainly did not add anything to this already boring game.
I’m desperately trying to think of something positive about this game, but the only thing that I can honestly say is that the graphics were, for the most part, up to Domini’s usual standards with, perhaps, a little less use of the garish palette for which this game developer is well known.
I usually say that you should play the demo and decide for yourself, but this game is such a complete waste of time and download bandwidth that I can’t even recommend that you do that!
I don't recommend this game.

There was a time when Elephant Games was THE pachyderm in the hidden object game room. There was also a time when Big Fish was the automatic go-to for HO games.
This game, Detectives United - Deadly Debt Collector's Edition, shows just how small an elephant can become, and how very little consideration Big Fish has for the thousands of loyal gamers who, like me, have been buying its offerings for more than ten years!
The already confused story line is made even more addled by the frequent alternation of the three detectives. I lost track of who I was supposed to be, what I was supposed to be doing, where I was supposed to be. It was like playing three different games at the same time, with no connection between them!
This inane game has been well described by other reviewers, so I won’t try to duplicate their good work, but I must make note of some extreme problems with this product of a once esteemed developer.
If, like me, you occasionally go to the game guide to check that you’d found the collectable and morphing objects, you will find that this guide has only one page for this and only displays four or five scenes. The entire guide is only nine pages and does not cover most of the game play.
There is little continuity in each detective’s individual sections, and certainly none when switching from one to another.
Detectives United - Deadly Debt Collector's Edition is more like a Beta game than a finished, polished product and clearly demonstrates the contempt in which Elephant and Big Fish hold those of us who have supported both of them over the years by laying out good money for their products. Without us, there would not even be an Elephant nor a Big Fish!
During the past decade, many game developers and game purveyors have appeared, and then vanished because of the poor quality products they offer. I see this same fate looming in the near future for this developer and this purveyor.
Don’t waste your download bandwidth on this game and, certainly, don’t waste your money buying it.
I don't recommend this game.

Well, here we go again! It’s another game from Domini liberally splashed in the usual garish purples, blues, and reds —a fresh pallet would be very welcome.
If you’ve never played this type of game, you might find it mildly interesting. If you’re not a newbie, this is another game you can just do without.
What’s the story? Nothing you haven’t seen before, so this is going to sound very familiar to you.
You are, apparently, an actress about to start shooting a new movie based, you are told, on a ‘true’ story, and you’re given a ring once owned by the heroine of that story.
Have you guessed yet what happens next? Yep, you put on the ring and are instantly transported back in time and into the person of the heroine. What a surprise!!
Okay, so here and there you pick up a couple of things —a cork, a pair of odd-shaped pliers, a whistle, some feathers and other stuff you’ve had to find and use a hundred times before in other games.
Now you come to a fire and, of course, there’s a bucket and a water source nearby. Wait, there’s a hole in the bucket . . . but you’ve got a cork! Tadaa, goodbye fire!
How about a bird sitting next to something else you need; yet another familiar scenario. It’s a good thing that you found that whistle earlier otherwise, heck, how are you going to get that bird to move!
Sorry, I just can’t go on with this!
I usually drop in a caveat about here —play the demo and decide for yourself rather than just rely on the review— but not this time. Don’t bother wasting your time, or your download capacity, this game is not worth it; and it’s certainly not worth spending your money to buy!
I don't recommend this game.

If you’ve read any of my 70 or so previous reviews, you know that I usually end them with the caveat to try the game yourself rather than just relying on the review. This time I’m not going to bother with a caveat at all. This game is so bad, no, that’s not a strong enough word. This game is awful, and a total waste of time and money.
Okay, the graphics aren’t bad although, as usual for Domini, the colors are from its regular pallet of garish hues —and that’s about all the good that I can say for this game.
Early in the game you come across a broken window and, guess what, you’ll need a glove to remove the pieces. A tree stands near a bridge, and guess what, it falls on the bridge making it necessary for you to find some boards.
By now you’ve found a small spade, guess what, you’ll need it to dig up something from a pile of dirt.
You’re given a whistle, guess what, you’ll need it to scare some birds away from an object you want.
You find a corkscrew and you just know that you’re going to come across a barrel with a cork in it!
How about a ladder with missing rungs? Well, gee, I guess you’ll have to find some substitute rungs, some nails and, of course, a hammer.
But wait, there’s more! This game is set in a village in England but there’s not even an attempt made for the voice actors to use an appropriate accent, they all sound American.
Oh, and one last thing, search as I may, I could not find any icon for a guide for this collectors edition game.
As I said at the top, this game, Myth or Reality - Fairy Lands Collectors Edition, not worth the time to play, and certainly not worth the $14 to buy!
I don't recommend this game.

Once again, I find myself wondering if some of the other reviewers and I are writing about our experiences with the same game!
I mean, reading other reviews I see such comments as, “I was thrilled by the gameplay . . .” and I have to think that this reviewer is very easily thrilled.
Then I read, “. . . the acting is a bit dreadful . . .” and decided that this reviewer is the champion of understatement.
Finally, there was this, “Telltale Games brought some different gameplay to the table . . . .” Well, no, it did not. All of the game elements are present in other games, including some that are ten-years old!
Okay, so by now you know that I did not like this game.
Specifically, the game had absolutely nothing to do with the book of the same name; the graphics were quite dark which, rather than enhancing the game’s mood, made it very difficult to see some of the items one was supposed to find; the character voices were atrociously performed, and I do mean atrociously!
There have not been many games of late that have aroused much enthusiasm, or were such as to give much enjoyment to we gamers; and this game, Pride and Prejudice - Blood Ties, is just another of the same.
As always, and of course, your expectations and opinions may differ from mine so, go ahead, download the demo if you have an unlimited data plan; otherwise, save your time and bandwidth.
I don't recommend this game.

This game doesn’t deserve the five-star rating some have given it, nor does it deserve the one-star given by others. It’s just not challenging enough to be so highly rated, and it’s not so cobbled together from bit and pieces of other games to make it so lowly rated.
I would have given it 2½-stars if that had been possible,
The graphics are nice, not extraordinary, but adequate. The background music leaves something to be desired since it really doesn’t add anything to the game play. The dialog, for the most part, is banal and generally predictable.
I’m not a puzzle fan, as you know if you’ve read any of my other reviews, but I didn’t find any in this game that were particularly challenging. The HO sequences were likewise run-of-the-mill and all too familiar if you’ve played more than two games before trying this one.
The CE extras —collectibles, souvenirs, and so on— weren’t that hard to find. They didn’t really add anything to the game either, they were just there to find.
So, having said all that, this game is not for me and I won’t be buying it. If you’re relatively new to this type of game play, you might find this one acceptable. Expert players, though, will be yawning and reaching for the exit button in short order.
While I can’t recommend this game, try the demo and decide for yourself.

While this game is not worthy of the many stars that some rate it, nor as few others give it, this game is just not as good as it could be.
The graphics are okay, nothing about which to get excited. There is nothing here that you haven’t already seen in one form or another in almost any game that you have played,
Either the voice actors or their director, probably both, need to get some more training and experience before they presume to make another attempt at playing game roles. I mean, really, why such slow delivery of the lines? Why such odd and inappropriate inflection or accentuation? Certainly, it was not done for dramatic effect. Well, maybe it was but, if so, if failed miserably at doing so.
The background music’s tempo, beat, and, oh, let’s call it drama, just doesn’t match the foreground action. It is distracting rather than an enhancement to game play enjoyment.
There’s not much in the story line that, as with the graphics, you also haven’t seen in other games.
The game play is very slow, and I do mean slow!
There is a bare sufficiency of HO sequences to justify this game being classified in this genre, and those few don’t offer much of a challenge nor, once again, of anything new.
So, having said all of that, if you’ve got a freebie coupon, or a few dollars to toss away, and you just want a game that will kill some time, this one may be for you. Everyone else might want to just ignore this one and keep hoping for a worthwhile game to be offered.
I don't recommend this game.

This may not be the most creative of the League of Light episodes, and I have them all, but it is an amusing, if rather simple, game.
As another reviewer commented, there are many hidden object sequences. This is, after all, an HO game, so how can that be a complaint!
The plot is not new, then again, neither are the plots of the vast majority of games offered. There are just so many twists that can be invented, even by the most creative, the most talented writers.
The color palette used for Play League of Light - Growing Threat is a little garish for my taste, but not excessively so.
The background music is, for the most part, appropriate for the action, and is not intrusive.
While this will not be a contender for game of the year, it is a pleasant way to spend a little leisure time.
I recommend this game!

The graphics are excellent, as we’ve come to expect from this game developer. The music is appropriately moody, and adds to the overall experience.
That, sad to say, is about all of the positive aspects of this game.
The story is one we’ve seen time and time again. Taking the action from the present to the past has been done many, many times before now.
The dialog is stilted and contrived, not at all what real people, thrown into this ‘haunted’ environment, might say, nor how they might say it.
The hidden object sequences, as well as the mini-games, are likewise nothing we haven’t seen in other games.
I could not work up any sense of empathy for the characters, nor did I find that their plight made me want to help them.
The very slow game-play pace, coupled with all else that I’ve noted, had me clicking the exit button after ten minutes of playing, which was all that I could stand.
If you have the download capacity to spare, go ahead and try the demo, your opinion may differ from mine.
I don't recommend this game.
