Again, this is a phone or tablet game that should remain as such. This is strictly a one-player game, there's no option to create additional users. There are no game play options -- only sound off, sound on, and sound volume.
There's a beginning video that you cannot skip or get out of. You have to wait for the whole ridiculous thing to play through. Once the tutorial starts, which you cannot turn off, there's no way to stop it, no way to exit the game until it runs through it's cycle.
This is a good kids' game with poorly drawn cartoon graphics and silly characters. It would also be an okay game for adults to play on their phone or laptop as a time killer. But calling it a PC game and charging money for it is a stretch.
Here's the thing. Most of the gamers who play these mosaic or griddler games are adults. With that said, here's what I think:
* The hand drawn cartoon-like backgrounds and graphics need to go. They're too distracting being in the background while you're trying to solve the grid. Make the backgrounds realistic and lighter and/or give us the option to play without a background image.
* Grid numbers are too small. So, make them larger.
* Grid numbers blend into the grid background making them difficult to see. All the colors are dull which doesn't help. So, change contrast between numbers and grid background colors.
* Grids themselves are too small. It's nice having larger grids to solve, but we need to be able to read the numbers and see the squares. So, cut out most of the background image to make room for the larger grids.
* Solving several grids and seeing them create a larger image is nice, but don't show us the finished image even before we start. What fun is that??
* Colors are flat with no texture or depth. Give us some tile options so we can see our finished solutions in 3D.
* I played for 40 minutes and never saw any Time Twins or any kind of story really. Maybe I didn't play long enough, but I just couldn't take the eyestrain and frustration anymore.
Yes, colors are bright and crisp, and the music is not too bad. But that's where the "Yes" factor stops.
Once again, this is not a true Solitaire game, it's a match-a-pair-of-cards game. Not my favorite. And again, the intriguing title is just a title; and has nothing to do with the actual game. So, there is no mystery.
Also missing is something to break up the monotony. There are no mini games or fun things to build or buy. There are no innovative or more helpful power-ups to buy. Only the bare bones Undo, Shuffle & Joker. And once again, you have to accumulate a lot of coins before you can purchase them.
If you like simple, find-a-pair matching games, then you might like Grimm's Tales. But as a seasoned Solitaire player, I found this game to be utter rubbish.
If you have never played a Hiddenverse clutter game, then you might enjoy Rise of Ariadna. But for me, who has played several games in this series, I disliked the lack of original thought.
The game offers finding pairs from a cluttered junk pile. There's also match 3, finding matching tiles and a few other puzzle types. The game is on the easy side and doesn't offer much challenge.
There is a story, sort of, but I lost interest after a few levels. I turned off the music, but I'd bet it's pretty much the same as the previous games. As another reviewer sang: "Second Verse same as the first". LOL
People giving this game a low rating because it doesn't drag on and on is unfair in my opinion. Old Enemies Returning held my interest all the way through to the end, so I had no time to get bored. I didn't have to stop playing because I was tired. To me, the quality of a game is more important than the length of it.
This addition to the Greed series was pretty much perfect in every way. Yes, there could have been moving characters whose lips moved, but it really wasn't necessary.
Graphics were old school but done well. Everything was crisp and clear. Puzzles were fun and mostly easy to complete. Hidden object scenes were standard but I prefer them that way. I personally don't like all the little multi-action scenes that now seem to be the norm.
There were different modes of game play, the story line kept me interested and the music and sound effects were top notch. Yes, the game was on the short side, but so what? If I totally enjoyed myself, then what's the difference?
I agree with all the others who gave Challenging Journey a rating of only one or two stars.
I normally like to play timed games to test my speed and agility, but these puzzles were impossible to solve in the tiny bit of time they gave me. Having to pause, to purchase more seconds of time, is ridiculous and also very costly.
The music and interface is the same as all the previous games in this series. Nothing has changed. In fact, even some of the backgrounds looked familiar.
My biggest complaint is the horrible graphics. Washed out, hand drawn pictures are not pleasing to look at and get boring really fast. In many cases, I had no idea what the subject or the puzzles pieces were. What's wrong with using photo quality graphics? This developer needs to 'up their game' (pun intended)

Yes, this one has a Santa theme which I think may be the only original idea this developer has come up with when it comes to their Fantasy Mosaics themes.
Otherwise, my peeps, it's the same premise as all the other versions. Nothing new in the way of anything. Power-ups are silly with no way to upgrade them. And you get penalized if you use any of them so what's the point? Same two dimensional graphics that are poorly drawn.
If this developer is trying to go for a Guinness Book record of the most games in a series, then I do believe they have achieved it.
But as far as quality and getting your money's worth, their are other mosaic/griddler games out there with actual story lines and more to offer.

For once, I disagree with the lower ratings given to a game. Especially since this one has a cute little robot who is trying to help but always seems to fall short.
Tiles are bright and you can choose their texture so they look a little more three dimensional. I agree all the solutions aren't about Christmas, they're more about the winter season BEFORE the holidays, as it states in the game's description. So I don't understand the complaints about that.
There are achievements to strive for, you can purchase upgrades and you can buy decorations. Solving is strictly logical; I never had a grid where I had to blindly guess.
At this time of year when things can get hectic and stressful, I found Christmas Helper to be an enjoyable diversion.
I enjoy playing the world travel mosaic games put out by this developer. But they need to give up on their version of clutter games.
Unfortunately, I cannot find anything remotely enjoyable about Christmas Square. I disliked that the cluttered objects are hand drawn and cartoon-ish. Photo quality objects would have been more pleasing to look at. I disliked the bubble thing they had going on. And I especially didn't understand the need for the moving conveyor belt at the bottom of the screen. It serves no purpose and it's distracting.
I found this game frustrating and annoying to play. Even the Christmas theme couldn't save this one. I'm not even sure if children would like it.
This is the 9th installment of Christmas Wonderland and I'm astounded by all the over the top reviews.
If you have never played any of the Christmas Wonderland games then I'm sure you will enjoy this. Personally, I find the hidden object scenes way too cluttered and the colors are hard on the eyes after a while. But it seems others enjoy looking through most of the items that don't pertain to the scene, so I guess I'm the exception.
As with all the other versions, nothing has changed. The mini games are the same and I noticed some of the scenes are from earlier games. Even the music has remained the same, with most of it having nothing to do with Christmas.
I enjoyed the first few games in this series, but Christmas Wonderland 9 is simply a re-hashing of 1 thru 8.
