Quite basic for a desktop game and not worth full price. Might purchase it as a Daily Deal . . . maybe.
It's the usual building/resources game that we can play on our phones or tablets. Not sure why this game in particular gets such high ratings -- it's cute but that's about it.
Maybe it's just me, but does anyone really care about exclusive wallpapers, music, videos, and concept art?? And care enough about it to pay double the price for a game? Sorry, but I don't.
I've always been on the fence about the Spirit Chronicles games and this one is no different. The story is the biggest draw for me but I simply didn't get drawn in by this one.
Graphics seemed a bit hazy and the voiceovers seemed muffled at times. Everything else was just status quo, nothing new or innovative.
I lost interest after twenty minutes. Would not even consider buying the SE version I'm afraid.
As always, try before you buy -- a repetitive suggestion but one to remember :o)
As I was playing this, I planned to rate the game at 4 stars. Although it's a new game, it plays like something from ten years ago. The graphics are hand drawn and flat, which I dislike immensely. But since this was a fragmented HO game, I was happy to put up with the poor graphics and voiceovers anyway.
I noticed that others had issues with the game freezing or not being able to pick up or use certain items. I had absolutely no problem with that because here's the trick -- you have to wait for each action to complete itself. In other words, you can't click too soon on a new action. Wait for popups and windows to close before clicking on something new. Also, the game limits the number of items you can hold in inventory, so you'll be instructed to use some of the items you already have.
There is a crude map, but it will take you to the location you want. There is a custom option to change the time you wait for hints and skips to recharge.
My biggest issue was after I played the game for the sixty minute trial time, I purchased it. And you can probably guess what happened next -- I played for another five minutes and the game was over. And it was abruptly over with the credits automatically rolling by.
The graphics are cartoonish, like those on phone apps. Same old powerups, and to buy them, it takes more coins than you earn. Same chain solitaire with no extra objectives. No mini games, or things to build, to break up the monotony. Certainly not worth our monthly membership fee.
Okay, so I purchased this game back when it came out ten years ago. But I completely forgot about it so I played it today, Memorial Day 2022.
The story was written well enough to keep me interested. The HO scenes were short, which I prefer, but dark. Even if I adjusted the gamma setting, the colors became lighter but were washed out. So I had trouble with that aspect of the game. The minigames weren't too much fun so I skipped all but one of them.
But the main reason for the low rating is the dragging on of the storyline. This game could have finished in half the time, if it weren't for all the backtracking and running back and forth to find items and then put them where they belong. It was not only a big time waster but frustrating. You never pick up more than one thing, It's always one item and then you have to run across forests and glades to place it. And then you find out you need another item and it's always having to go back to the other side of the forest to locate it. Simply maddening in my opinion. So much so, I never completed the game.
The newer Grim Tales games improved on the backtracking, which I am thankful for -- I own almost all of the newer games in this series. By the way, I did get closure -- I went out online to see the ending of The Wishes because as I mentioned, the story was engaging.
I must be the odd man out as they say, but I really liked this game! First, if you don't understand time travel games, I can see why some gave this a low rating. The story bounces between time periods and some people have trouble keeping track of where they are or why.
The storyline was great and kept me interested through the entire game. HO scenes were short, which I prefer, and the mini games were do-able, which I appreciate.
Graphics, cut-scenes, music, voiceovers and sound were great Yes, the game was a bit on the short side. However, I love being able to finish a game in one or two sittings so I can start a new one :o)
Yes, the ending was a bit abrupt, but it left things open, allowing for a sequel. Please don't pass this one by because of the undeserved poor ratings. I'm telling you, once you start playing it, you'll want to finish it!
Seriously, what's up with this developer?? The Black Raven 3 still has NO mystery, NO raven, NO amazing graphics and NO mini games. This developer uses the same game template over and over and over. It's a simple chain solitaire that gets boring after several hands, especially with the cheesy hand drawn graphics.
This is just my opinion, but maybe Big Fish should re-release some old quality games, starting from a few years ago, and offer a BOGO on them. It would generate some sales, and it would stop us from having to see these cheapo, silly games being offered every day.
I own several of the previous games in this series, and have enjoyed playing them. While there was nothing over-the-top about them, THIS game comes nowhere near the top.
Besides having to complete the same tasks but using different items, and the mini games and hidden object scenes being rather mundane, it's the ho-hum storyline that makes Dealer's Choices a no-buy for me.
The description of this game is way too generous. I found myself losing interest as the story "progressed". A riveting storyline is what entices most people to buy this type of game, and people will put up with weird mini games or boring hidden object scenes just to follow the characters and the story. For me, Dealer's Choices was a fail on everything.
I don't recommend THIS game, but I suggest you try a few of the very first games in the series.
If you have never played one of these Shopping Clutter games, I suggest you try one of the very first ones that came out. This 11th installment is a train wreck in my opinion.
The music, or should I say the tinny, digital noise passing for music, is the same as almost all the other games. In our glorious, vast world, can't they come up with some different tunes??
The objects you need to match may be new this time around, but they are gaudy, bright, and cartoonish. I was getting a headache and my eyes were burning after ten minutes.
The mini games in all Shopping Clutters are the same type. Nothing ever changes, no added thought or creativity went into this 11th game. Also, you can click on a ton of gaudy yellow suns but all you'll ever get is one or two hints for all that clicking. And taking time to click on the suns instead of making matches dwindles down your allotted time.
Like I mentioned, I lasted ten minutes playing this one and it looks like most of the other reviewers didn't last much longer.
This was the first time in a long time that I've absolutely loved a game enough to give it five stars!
The music and the graphics are beautiful. The storyline is solid and well written. The characters are engaging. Hidden object scenes and mini games are nothing special but they're fairly easy and enjoyable.
I finished the standard version in two sittings and will probably play it again soon. Considering we are currently on the brink of summer, this is high praise indeed for a Christmas themed game!
