Fellow Fishie's I could not even finish the demo. The story was that bad. It is beyond silly. Really it is, and the game puzzles/play were very easy. Not only that but this is the second game this week I have played with a hint/helper that is a cat. It's getting repetitive.
The graphic's in the opening scene were dated but once the game began to run they did get better. The graphics on some scene's were a bit on the cartoonish side but it varied from scene to scene. They were easy on the eyes, clear and not over glossy looking.
Ok, let move on to the music, It was actually quite lovely music, BUT did not work with the game and it would become loud and intense like something important was about to happen when NOTHING was going on. That really began to get on my nerves quick and remember I didn't even finish the demo.
There are morphing objects in the game...but I felt they were labeled wrong because they really are disappearing objects. They do not change from say, a globe into a basket ball, they just disappear and reappear. I did find one in every scene I managed to push myself through in the demo.
Here is the straw that broke the camels back and the reason I finally got fed up with the demo... You have your inventory box at the bottom of the screen, and as usual it says Inventory at the top and RIGHT beside that word is the icon for the Strategy Guide. EVERY time I went to back out of a room I kept hitting the strategy guide, UGH!
That is really a BAD place to put it for me. Some people may not hit it often but for me it was smack in the spot I usually "back" out with my mouse.
To sum up- Silly storyline Graphics - OK, nice at times Music - pretty but did not the accent game, and would become intense without a cause Puzzles - easy Adventure play - easy Novice players -I can not even recommend this for novice players because they deserve a good storyline too.
Expert player -This is a no go
.
I don't recommend this game.

Ominous Objects: Family Portrait Collector's Edition
A father returns home to find his children missing - all but one, who refuses to say a word...
Played demo in hard mode Review more for expert players
Ok, I always am a bit leery of a game when I finish the demo before the hour is up. This usually points to a very short game. This demo I finished in 35 minutes. If you are an expert player too, I think you will breeze right through as well. The graphic's here are really quite lovely and the music is well chosen and accents the game. The voice overs are pro (YEAH!# and pleasing. For a change you play a male character! It puts a different feeling in the game that I found a plus.
All that aside..... the game was very easy. I flew through the puzzles and the hidden object scenes. No challenge at all. The HOS are interactive, clear and colorful. I did not find any misspelled words or mislabeled objects #but remember I only played the demo#. You again are looking for lost children - Ho-Hum, and you get the fuzzy animal helper again. #Sheeze those things are like a fungus that won't die) Why can't I get a really scary skeleton helper with glowing red eyes for a change.
With a name like Ominous Objects I was expecting something with more of an edge to the game. But no, it had it's fill of cutesy moments. Like when a baby gargoyle blocked my way. I didn't know if I should kill it or change it's diapers. . I just was not pulled into the game. I did not find it compelling, fun or challenging. The storyline did not interest me.
To sum up Graphics - very nice Voice overs - Pro and pleasing Puzzles - elementary Music - accents the game Not very compelling Good for Novices players Ran fine on my PC, no glitches in demo
Expert players - No hard riddles or difficult puzzles to work out. I think you may find it boring, but if you want some pretty eye candy and a relaxing game give it a go.
Played Full game Review more for expert players There was no hard mode
Ok, fellow pond dwellers I need to tell you right off the bat that this game is SHORT. I have been playing adventure and HO games for years and I think if you are an expert player you too will find it lacking .... BUT don't let that turn you away just yet!
Lets get the usual stuff out of the way first- No glitches, ran fine on my PC . Music was good but, a little repetitious No voice overs, just text to read from the people you meet Graphics are clear and textured but could look dated on some scenes It's the usual Mommy needs to get to kid theme (ho -hum) Easy to intermediate puzzles
Ok, now that's out of the way...I liked this game! The game play was fun and I wanted to keep playing for a change and see what happened to my character. You are basically in purgatory and need to help some other souls find redemption and in the process get yourself back to the real world. Don't get me wrong there is no award for writing here as you will pretty much know how the story line would go, but it was interesting to see how it would play out. The puzzles, unfortunately were on the easy side. During game play you do need to stay on your toes, because some actions and hidden objects scenes do not become active until after you find the object you will need. So you will need to travel back a bit at times, but it is with a purpose. Some items you collect in your inventory will need to be combined, BUT the game does not tell you that, you have to figure it out yourself. One drawback for me are the sparkles, you could not turn them off, but they did not sparkle for everything only certain items. It was not consistent.
Expert players should find the game has a few things that are interesting, the plot moves well and you have things to do that make sense. I do not think you are going to find any real challenges here but it is an interesting little game. I did enjoy the game play, even if it was too short. Give the demo a try.
Unbelievably SHORT! I am still sitting here wondering how I just finished this game in 2 HOURS! Yes, fellow fishies 2 hours Including the demo! Once you finish the demo you are half way through the game. Do not get pulled in by all the 5 star reviews, I think they must have played a different game or be playing themselves. The game is very, very easy and short, microscopic! REALLY! I like live actors when they are professional, but here I think you are getting the developers children and family members. It is that bad. The hidden object scenes are interactive but childlike in their simplicity. No challenge during game play, only easy puzzles and mindless things to do. There is little if anything frightful about the game but the fact I just spent money on it. (Shiver)
Run, don't walk away from this impossible 4 star review game.
I don't recommend this game.

Haunted Manor: Painted Beauties
A peaceful day at the park becomes a journey into the surreal when you become the latest victim of a troubled artist's deal with Death!
Back and forth, back an forth. This game is not a challenge in working out puzzles or riddles. It's just a challenge to remember where everything goes. At one point I had 85+ tasks to perform. ( looking for a key, or need oil for a rusty lock or need a shovel etc.) It's just a bunch of back and forth. The game didn't GO anywhere. It became very monotonous. Have a pen and pad ready to write down where everything goes, or you will be wasting time trying to find out where to use an item. It was just tedious and I was just wishing for it to end.
Very engaging game! Decent storyline, great graphics, good music, fun characters. My only complaint is the puzzles were on the easy side, but I really enjoyed this game! It had moments that made me think and work. I found that I wanted to keep going back and finish the game for a change. Most games now days are so tweeny and boring. Not here. You get mature game play. I like the whole feel of the game, the Day of the Dead theme is Great!
Give the demo a try, it is a bit slow in the beginning.
You get your usual wonderful graphics here from Elephant games. Apart from that this game is not up to par with what I am accustomed to from this company. Many, many spelling errors, mislabeled objects in the hidden object scenes, grammar mistakes, it just seemed sloppy. I was not drawn into the story line, nor did I care if the heroine stopped the villain or not. I was just bored with it. You are playing the assistant but the detective can't seem to do anything and you end up saving him. Not much challenge but a few if the puzzles made me work the gray matter a bit. Some of the hidden objects scenes were actually quite alive and beautiful. The game ran fine on my PC, no glitches or problems. I do think the game is too short for a CE.
Ok, the Dev's heard us and they did something about it. You get a nice long game here for a change. This game has lots to do. Each scene has multiple actions to complete, you also have many wall pictures to go into. That's where the problems began for me. You are not solving clever puzzles or using the mental muscle to figure out riddles. You are just trying to remember where the heck everything goes and what scene it was in. You will find it helpful to have a pen and paper out to write down what needs to be done in each scene or when you finally find that shovel you will be looking over and over to remember where the darn thing is used. At one point I had 85+ actions to complete. Yes, you read that correctly 85+ keys to find or light bulbs to place or oil to find for a rusted lock, etc. The game is just about going back and forth, a lot. It was boring and not even half way through I started hoping it would end soon. The puzzles were very easy to solve and the hidden object scenes do have interaction and were ok. The graphics are good and the voice overs are entertaining and pro. The music on the other hand...well it did not work . For me a game needs to not only have good puzzles, engaging gameplay but also needs to pull me into the games world. You can't keep changing the feeling from one scene to the next. On this game you are in a haunted castle and sometimes the music worked, but other times it was badly chosen or rather all over the place. I didn't know if I was in a haunted castle, on a sub with Russians protecting the Motherland or at a Rave listening to Techno, or fighting with Conan the Barbarian. Really, it was all over the place and ruined the haunted castle feeling for me.
Another thing that really began to bug me was the hint helper. A baby angel in the right corner that kept moving constantly in a very annoying manner. Plus, it just didn't work with the game. You have dark subject matter, dark themes and then a tweeny looking little angel irking you with it's constant movements. Now, I did like the eerie stone skeleton in a hood on the left side. He worked.
All I can say is that I do not like this game. It did not challenge me and my mental muscle developed some love handles from not being used.
...if you like pulling teeth, because that's how this game played. Painful, tedious, slow and I kept wishing it was over.
I don't know how to rate yet another mediocre game. The graphics are ok, the voice overs are pro but the game was boring. The puzzles are novice level, the game play is easy. The storyline was predictable and did not interest me at all. The main characters are flat and uninteresting and I really didn't care if they saved the world or not. Now there is a place for novice games for novice players but hey they still deserve a storyline that is interesting. Pass on this one.
Graphics do look dated, storyline was ok... but the game play itself was interesting and the mini games were different and fun! I played on Challenge mode (hard) , the game was not extremely difficult but it will make you think at times. The length was a bit on the short side though. The voice overs are good and the music works well. The game is a bit old school but I really did like it, and it made me mentally work to solve a few things. Give the demo a try, play the whole hour because it's a bit slow in the beginning.
