While I agree with Nilosh about a kid being abducted by a creepy man in a playground, I have to say this game was excellent!
That being said, I really liked the level of challenge, and the HOS scenes were pretty challenging over all.
The puzzles were a mix of difficult and easy, there were only a couple I could not complete and had to skip. I really loved the little "plays" where you had to put items back in the scene.
The graphics were really good, although a little blurry in just a couple of HOS, and the voice overs were good. I don't generally listen to the music in games, because I find it too much of distraction, however, I did turn it up a little in this game, and it wasn't too bad.
The bonus game was awesome, and carried on with the story very well, which I really like - I bought one game recently, where the bonus game had absolutely nothing to do with the main game, and I was like, what's the point?
Also, this game did have some back and forth in it, however, most places you stayed there for quite awhile, so it did not seem so bad. There was a lot of back and forth in the bonus game, and I think the dev's should have included a transport map.
Overall, I think this game is definitely worth purchasing the CE, you will get your money's worth.
Also, one reviewer stated they did not have a total count for the collectible masks, however, they were wrong, it was in the journal, at the top left on the objectives side of the book; so, no worries, you will be able to see how many masks you collect!
I recommend this game!

I really liked this game. However, I got stuck at the end looking for one item.
Graphics are great, love the bright colors! There was only 1 HOS that I found to be slightly blurry - the rest were good, and challenging because of all the foliage!
I really loved having Oscar along, didn't seem so lonely stranded on a planet by myself. Also, I didn't realize until toward the end of the game, that if you click the word "data", you have a map, a task list, and analyzed data to help you move forward; but I don't think I would have enjoyed this game half so well had I known!
You are to try to escape the planet, and must deal with creatures, floods, etc. Usually, when collecting items, you know what to do with them, and of course, if you get stuck, look to the data! The hint button only works in the HOS, which I thought was not good, I like clicking the hint button to figure out where to go next (I guess I am one of few people who like having my hand held! lol)
For the money, this game is pretty good - much better than some of the ones we have been slammed with lately. Not as good as Cyan, but good enough for when you're bored, or have nothing better to play.
All in all, I do recommend this game.
I recommend this game!

I did not give this game 5 stars for one simple reason - the point of what I was supposed to do got lost between 1/2 and 3/4 way thru the game.
I agree with everything Nilosh says; however, the story went off in several different directions, and the bonus game has absolutely nothing to do with the story.
The graphics are beautiful, the HOS contain some of the most challenging aspects of the game, and I loved the characters - especially the dragon! I even liked the music, and for once, did not find it as distracting as most all the other HOGs I play; so the devs get a great big thumbs up from me for the music.
I don't feel the story explained enough about how the twins were related to overall story - there was a connection, but it was pretty obscure.
I think the game is worth the money for the CE, but I like to have the bonus games in CEs as they are a continuation of the main game.
I do recommend this game.

This game, wow, what can I say? First, totally worth every penny!
There is no journal - but you really don't need one! You have Rupert, who is also the hint button. Then you have several "helpers" along the way who get things that are out of reach, blocking the road forward, etc. They absolutely made the game, and I loved each one!
You are to save the town of Martlet from the evil statues, and you even have a couple of statues that help against the evil ones. There are gnomes who all help you along the way, items to collect in scenes, which I love, that go toward one achievement, other achievements to win, all my favorite things in the CEs. This game makes up for all the recent ones that were just boring and not any fun.
Most of the HOS were really great, making sense of why you playing them.
The graphics, VOs, and story line were definitely well done. I have played other games from this dev, and I have liked them all. This game had me riveted from the first, and even the bonus chapter was good, although shorter than I expected. Also, added bonus, the story has an unexpected twist that grabs your attention, and makes you want to stick around to find what happens next!
Kudos to the dev, very well done.
I recommend this game!

This game had a lot of potential, but just fell short of wowing me. I don't know what is, but it just seemed like a chore to get through this one.
I bought it based on the price, which was a nice bonus for a change - but now I am wondering if they lowered the price because it just wasn't a great game.
I didn't have a problem with the graphics or anything - I don't ever listen to the music, it's too distracting; and I also eventually turned down the sfx's, as I also found that annoying.
On a hunt for the ever elusive Philospher's Stone, (Harry Potter, anyone?), a young woman must save souls in this very boring HOG. HOS were easy, puzzles were easy, and it just became a chore to get thru this game for some reason. By the time I got to the bonus game, I was, like, is there an end to this game in our future? A total waste of money that I won't be repeating.
Most of the recent HOGs seem to be one disaster after another - what happened to all the great games we've been given over the last year and a half?
I don't recommend this game.

Well, all in all, a good game! Great visuals, VO are good, music, I mute so I will not be distracted, and ended up muting all sound, as some were really annoying.
Lots of back and forth, and as I have said before, that becomes very boring after a while.
Plot was good, you have to rescue your daughter from the clutches of a mad undead sea captain; he is trying to steal her soul to resurrect his true love; and you have to prevent that. HOS were good, some were the usual piles of junk, but for the most part, not bad. Puzzles - I usually skip them in the first go around in a game, as I want to get to the finish and find out what it's all about, but I didn't see any that looked terribly difficult.
Davy Jones is once again the villain, and he is not going to let the captain go without a fight.
There are some gruesomely funny undead sailors along the way, each with a request for you to fulfill.
The length of the game was good, so you get your money's worth, and the bonus game was excellent, not so much running around during that.
Not a really, really great game, but one that I will play again; so for me, that is what matters when I buy a game, is the fact that I will play it again and again, and this one does that for me.
I recommend this game!

Well, it's another good game - but too much back and forth again!
I really wish these devs would make an interactive map along with some of these games, I feel like I just got done walking 50 miles!
But, there, I am done complaining! lol All in all, very well done, and great plot! I haven't quite finished the Bonus Chapter yet, but I am getting there.
A young man inherits an estate on an island (ooooh, don't I just wish?), and it's possessed by a poltergeist, an angry one at that! The young man must find out who, what, why, when and how, and that's the fun part. The man gets to roam all over his new inheritance, and investigate the ins and outs of the tragedy that occurred there.
Graphics are good, HOS are challenging and relevant, you get many items that interact with something else, and also some of the items you pick up are little mini-puzzles to interact with something else in your inventory, or that you must find somewhere else.
I think the CEs are worth the extra money, it's definitely like getting 2 games for the price of one and I have to have the continuation of the story or I feel like the story has no ending.......
I recommend this game!

A vast improvement over the first Gardenscapes! Graphics are awesome, really love the interactions in the scenes when you mouse over objects, balloons going up and down, palm leaves waving, etc.
I really liked the first one, and played it many, many times when bored with other games, and it's a great way to relax, just enjoy finding hidden objects!
And how fun is it to name your dog, and watch Austin just puttering around?
The only downside to this game is I thought it a bit short, but on the other hand, the original seemed to take forever to get to the end! (Never happy, am I? lol)
All in all, a must buy, and a great game to keep the grandkids occupied when THEY are bored!
I recommend this game!

I really wanted to give this game 5 stars across the board - but I just couldn't do it.
The storyline is excellent - I too, loved the Pirates of the Carribean movies - so, I really enjoyed this one about the flying dutchman and it's captain.
Now, for the things I thought could be improved upon - the HOS, first - while it is the usual pile o' stuff, I quite enjoy those, as it brings a bit of challenge to them. The ones in this game however, were just frustrating; I found myself squinting to try to see things, plus, as in some other games, things were misnamed. In a couple of the HOS, things would blur, then focus again, and I found this quite trying and tiring on my eyes.
Then, of course, there is a LOT of back and forth, and for that, they should have added a map that would transport you from one location to another, I really do hate having to backtrack so much, and it was even worse in the bonus game.
I don't listen to the music in any game, because I find it too distracting, but the ocean sounds were nice and soothing. The VO were quite good, I thought, and I really enjoyed collecting the pearls and getting a history lesson.
I'm not really fond of having to use hints or the SG, and I found myself in the middle of the game having to go to the SG quite frequently, which detracted from the overall adventure spirit of the game. So, I didn't notice til the end of the bonus game, the neat little flips the hint shrimp was doing, and I think I probably missed a few other things as well.
By the end of the game and bonus game, I was like, "is it over yet?" And I really do hate wasting my money or credits when I feel that way at the end of a game. I will play this again, and try not to have to use the SG so much, and see how I like it then.
It's always worth it to me to buy the CE's, because I do like to have the bonus games as well as the main game.

I am basing this review on the demo only - this is a must buy! Keeps your attention riveted - you must help Bethany!
Graphics are really great - along with all the cutscenes - some you can't skip, but once you have seen it, then you are able to skip if you don't want to see it again.
HOS are a little hard on the eyes, but once you adjust they are not so bad, and things are easier to pick out of those.
What a great story line - dr. releases demon, demon possesses child and investigator - some very intense moments, all designed to send chills up your spine! Puzzles are relatively simple - most are the standard. However, things you collect from these and HOS are satisfyingly different. There are lots of things to collect.
Your hint button recharges pretty quickly, the skip button takes a tad longer for the puzzles. It looks like you're in one building throughout the game, but doors keep appearing out of nowhere, which is also pretty cool.
Based on some of the reveiws posted, I didn't think this game would be my cup of tea, however, I was hooked within 5 minutes.
I really like purchasing the CEs whenever possible - I like playing the bonus games, and the extra features, like the SG that comes with those. Plus, I feel like I get more of my money's worth when I purchase CEs. This one will probably be on the top of my purchasing priority list, however - looks short based on the download MBs, but if it's a really good game, so be it, to me still worth the money.
While some of games I have purchased lately have left me bored to tears, I don't think this will be one of them - will purchase as soon as possible and recommend it to others.
I recommend this game!
