Aimed at children. Colorful. Music is repetitious and not Eastery at all. No way to determine if you found all the eggs and bunnies before selecting the last object. Puzzles are easy enough for young children and can be skipped. HOS are very crowded. Nice game for kids (story is simple and easy for them to follow) but adults will get bored easily.
Based on entire game. There are a lot of beautiful paintings which have been stolen and ruined by the “artist” thief and which our heroine has been engaged to restore to their original condition after they have been found. Lovely artwork. Most objects added by the thief to the valuable paintings are relatively easy to see. Earn money for each object found and use the cash to furnish your quarters (you have 4, due to moves and a vacation). Work with the police to discover who has been stealing the paintings (here the story is really slim in that there doesn’t seem to be any real connection between your corrections and the thief) – is it a client of yours, perhaps the police officer? Keeps you guessing to the end. One nice thing: If you don’t place first in the competition for each painting, you can restart that painting (with additional erroneous objects added) until you are satisfied with your score. It is the only way you will be able to fully furnish each apartment.
I recommend this game!

Ghost Whisperer™
Join Melinda Gordon in helping ghosts with unfinished business.
The 2nd mystery (which took a little over 3 hours) is unlocked after completing the 1st mystery (didn't track time). Game follows the same format as the television program did. If you liked the tv program, you'll like the HOG. Play casual or expert. There is a map, on which only active scenes are displayed. Sometimes you may have to visit a specific location to search for an object to be used in a scene; however, since only active scenes are displayed at any time, there is no excess back and forth. Hint button is helpful if you get stuck with what to do next. No voice overs – the dialogue (of which there is plenty) is written. But you can click through it as fast as you read. Although the stories are interesting, the endings are sort of “hookie” just as they were in the tv series. Overall, a delightful game.
Finished game in a little over 4 ½ hours. I have a touchscreen, but found no option for a cursor (which I prefer). Might be 1/2 hour less with cursor since you would have a changing cursor. You don current local garb as you investigate Rodion’s motives for possible murder. There are several locations with cutscenes between changes in locations. HOS encompass the entire location. A couple HOS words were obscure – such as “bones” were actually dice. Puzzles were relatively easy; a few were time consuming. Find an axe for an additional hint, and a pen, letter and candelabra on each level to restore pages of the story. Story of who murdered a poor old woman (who was actually quite rich) was interesting, but why she was murdered was even more so. Didn’t care much for the ending – seemed it was missing something.
Finished game in 4 hours. Mini-games are easy to mildly challenging – you can play them after completing the main game. FRAGs are colorful and detailed. Most missing fragments are large, but there are a few which are very small. Some objects from one scene may be used in another, but there are never more than 4 scenes open at one time. Very soothing music. Dialogue is written but flashes by too fast. You may have to repeat the dialogue to read all of it – especially at the end of the game. Hints are unlimited, unlike the first Magic Encyclopedia (which I thought was more fun).
Format similar to Huntsville. Search multiple HOS locations for clues to discover the mystery behind the Ravenhearst curse. Release Emma’s spirit to remove the curse from the manor forever. Some HOS locations are locked with elaborate locks – you must determine the proper sequence of actions to unlock them. I suggest that you be miserly with your hints in the regular HOS since you may well need a hint or two with these very challenging locks. After each search, put together a picture puzzle and get a portion of the story behind the curse. Nice graphics and music. Took me about 7 hours at a relaxed pace. You can also do timed. The relaxed pace is still timed, but you get so much time to search the locations with plenty of time left over, that I suggest the timed version.
I recommend this game!

DinerTown: Detective Agency
Something’s not right in DinerTown! Help Bernie the Bookworm become a real detective as you hunt for clues!
Ernie sends away for a detective kit. Help him and Flo solve numerous mysteries around dinertown. There are over 25 cases. For each case, find HOS clues, find fingerprints or stains, solve a couple puzzles, then question witnesses and determine who the culprit is. You can solve the cases in freeplay style (select any case in any building in any order) if you prefer. This is a good game to play for short periods – you can easily pick up a new case. I would have preferred voice overs to just written dialogue. Entertaining.
What a very challenging and very lengthy adventure game. You play Sam, a journalist, seeking his girlfriend who has been squirrelled away by a madman who gives his subjects immortality. You hear a lot from the madman; his voice is rather pleasant. HOS are fairly easy, as are the puzzles. Graphics and scenery are clear, detailed and many are beautiful. Very well thought-out plot and game play. When you think you are at the end, you find that you are not. So you play on until you again think you are at the end, only to find you are not. Eventually, you do reach the end – sort of. Very interesting concept of how this is done.
Most challenging: There are many, many locations. However, even though there is a map which is useful in showing your location and where actions are possible, it is not interactive. But don’t get too comfortable just because you have a map. The map is on 3 planes which only shows locations in perspective, depending on their location in the mansion. You can see the locations on one plane, but alas, you have to figure out how to get there. Example: Even though one level shows all the locations outside of the mansion, you cannot simply access all of them even though they are shown next to each other. Instead, you must access them from 2 different exits from the mansion. And with so many rooms, it’s up to you to remember how to access the exits. Easy to become frustrated trying to find a location – the walkthrough may tell you to go to the old car, but not how to get there. You just have to remember what locations lead to which locations – it’s easy to get lost even with the W/T.
One big annoyance – in many of the scenes, there is very distracting coughing. Doesn’t seem to tie into the story.
Spooky nonlinear underwater adventure in Eden. Diary includes notes of your travels and your current objectives. Map shows your locations and where objectives exist. Limited backtracking. Nice cutscenes. Written dialogue. There are 19 achievements and 3 difficulty levels. Widescreen is automatic. After completing the game, the last chapter showing Eden’s uprising becomes playable. View beautiful environments as you move from one creepy abandoned location to another seeking your boyfriend and a mysterious girl; expect to be occasionally surprised. Reasonable mix of HOS and standard puzzles. Interactive HOS frequently require that coverings be moved to complete the scene. Average length.
Customizable adventure story with 20 achievements and 3 difficulties. You can set whether you want active areas to sparkle, whether you want the find items panel and the speed of hint and skip recharges. Maintains a list of tasks. Collect 21 roses. The inventory tray can become quite full as there is a lot to do and see and inventory isn’t used immediately. Graphics are clear. Determine your individual sound levels for music, voices, etc. You can truly customize most aspects of this game to your liking. Get a CE quality game for a SE price. 4 1/2 stars rounded up.
