A boring and unentertaining game. All you do is play hidden objects scenes.

"Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst" was a game that I had been eager to play for a very, very long time. However, I was sorely disappointed. The game, although it looked and was interesting at first, started to drag and be a bore, mainly because there were way too many hidden objects scenes and the objects were extremely hard to spot. Not to mention that the hint took literally forever to recharge...
And, although you had a lot of locations to visit (sometimes even too many), you pratically didn't have nothing to do in them, except, that is, to look for objects in new HO scenes...
Í felt that that was the only thing I was doing in the game. Shopping.
I got tired of looking for all those objects and, so, I got tired of the game too.
The artwork and the overall presentation was quite beautiful, though.
This game definitely hasn't aged well, and it isn't clearly up to the standards of the games that come out nowadays mainly in the aspect of entertainment, that is, needless to say, the base of a game: being able to entertain!
I won't play this game again, for sure.
I don't recommend it, unless you are a total fan of HOG.
I don't recommend this game.

"Dark Cases: The Blood Ruby" was an amazing, very atmospheric and very entertaining game to play.
Not only is it one of the most beautiful games I've ever played, but it has a great cast of gripping characters and it possesses a very somber storyline.
The story is all centered in the small town of Easthaven and in the famous "Blood Ruby", possessed by the woman who founded the town. By being given a second chance of saving your father's life, you find yourself involved in a web of deception that leads you to the background of the town itself and, of course, of the murderous ruby.
One thing that disappointed me in the game was that there are no other types of hidden objects scenes besides the ever-present "shopping list". Almost every game nowadays brings lot of different types to these scenes (one of my favorites being the ones where you put objects in the scenes), and, so, I was really let down with this.
The main game is really long and it will always keep you on your toes, dying to find out what happens next. However, the bonus chapter, although really interesting, is very short, and besides that you are left with the usual extra content: mini-games, wallpapers, music and so on. Besides the gripping bonus chapter (being in the skin of Diana at the moment she finds the ruby and entering the Temple of Blood, while trying to resist its power was just amazing), and the beautiful concept art that you can save! (no kidding, it's the best concept art I ever laid my eyes on), there's nothing more when it comes to the Collector's Edition.
So, I recommend that you play the Standard Edition first, and, if you find yourself loving this game like I did, then maybe go for the CE.
I loved being after one suspect at first and then going for another and so on. I actually felt in the skin of a detective, but also never forgetting why I came to Easthaven in the first place: to save the main protagonist's father.
The storyline and the artwork all helped to make a really immersing and atmospheric game (I just loved the '20's setting), as well as the voice overs, who were believable and nice to listen to. The music was another wonderful thing. It wasn't annoying whatsoever and was really calm and beautiful. One track was even reminiscent of the '20's feel, really!
Nothing but an amazingly produced and created game here. I loved this game.
I really hope my review will help you in deciding whether to buy or try this game or not! Some people may find it a bit slow and too calm, but I just loved this. If I ever want to watch a movie (nothing but pandemonium), I turn the TV on!
A casual game is to make you think and to make you engrossed in its story and setting, all the while relaxing you, too. "Dark Cases: The Blood Ruby", has all that to offer you!
I recommend this game!

"Sable Maze: Sullivan River" has been giving me headaches ever since I finished it. It's really quite puzzling. While I was playing it I was quite engrossed in it, but when I finished it, I wasn't so sure I even liked it anymore. However, I have no doubt that it is an entertaining game, that happens to have an amazing background story and a good atmosphere.
Here's probably why I didn't liked it:
- One of the things I have no doubt contributed to my befuddlement on whether or not I liked the game was that there are a bit too many hidden objects scenes, and when that happens it bores me incredibly and makes the game tedious;
- Maybe it's the not very interesting, washed-out look. The artwork and the graphics were definitely not bad, but I have seen so much, much better and so, I think it detracted from an overall satisfying experience.
- Another thing that unfortunately happens very, very frequently in these games and that just leaves me raging mad. They always end the games in a rather brute manner. Yay, you just saved the way and now everything is fine! (Not quite, since there is almost always a sequel...) And that's it. It happened in "Sullivan River" and it left me very disappointed. Here's why: the storyline is definitely the best thing that this game has to offer, and so, it was not only interesting and compelling but original, and was explored in some depth (even more in the bonus chapter). It told us about how "Sullivan River" got its name, how the Tree of Wishes came to be, who was the Dryad, and what happened all those years ago in our protagonist's life. You actually feel that the writers took their time to create such an incredibly well polished story. And then, the game ends like that. Not only in the main game but also in the bonus chapter. So much is left unsaid after so much has been given.
Now here's what I liked:
- The atmosphere is very, very good. Creepy alright;
- The music is also very fitting to the environment and was nice to my ears;
- The storyline, of course! As I have mentioned in a review before, saving children in peril were never my cup of tea, but "Sable Maze" managed to make everything different because of the amazing story. I just loved the premise of an "evil" maze where you could get lost forever and never be seen again. Just the ideia is very opressive. And it also helps that the mystery unfolds very nicely;
- The bonus chapter is amazing. I liked the story better in this one, what with all the exploration regarding the Celtic heritage of the place;
That's it. I give it a 3 and a half stars rating. I totally recommend that you try it before anything else because although it offers a wonderful and original story, it has nothing more worthwhile left. Nice to spend some time, though.
I recommend this game!

After a nice ERS game, here comes one that defies, once again, my trust in these developers creating good games. This makes me wonder why I still bother to play them at all...
I played the Collector's Edition, but I didn't even finished the main game, so I can't comment on the extras.
At first, I was mildly interested in the storyline, but when I realized I was going to visit other worlds, I lost it.
But it's a question of taste. Being transported to other dimensions were never my ideia of fun.
I don't know what's worse: the blurry artwork, the annoying sound effects, the almost complete lack of ambient effects, the irritating music, and the dull story.
The whole game feels very, very hollow.
It feels like you are just going through the motions to finish the game. All you do is click, click, click. This game should have been on the "Grim Facade" series for sure it is a grim (as in horrible) game to play and a total facade.
A pretty package and that's all.
For once in my life, I missed hidden objects scenes.
I don't think of anyone I could recommend this one to.
It doesn't get any more casual than this.
I don't recommend this game.

Wow, I was surprised to find this game fun and nice to play since it's from ERS!
But I also liked the first "Twilight Phenomena", so I was interested in playing this one.
It's a nice game for you to spend some time, but it doesn't offer anything new at all, and the storyline of "The Lodgers of House 13" was much more original. I was really pleased with the artwork, though. Lately, ERS Studio artwork has been improving immensely! They are not so blurry as they used to be and everything is colourful, crisp and wonderful to look at! Only one warning though: buy the SE instead. The Collector's Edition isn't worth it and the bonus chapter is a complete filler.
Pros:
- The artwork;
- The music wasn't annoying! It was beautiful, actually;
- The puzzles were quite fun;
- The HO scenes and the interactive scenes were so great and fun to play, especially with the colourful graphics!,
- Beautiful Mexican décor! So colorful!
- The little blue jaguar was so cu-u-te! And very well animated!
- The storyline was interesting at times, but you should never, ever expect much from these developers. It was nice to stop the mutations and to free the animals. Helping animals in games is always great for me, so, that was what I liked more about the story, and it also helped that Mary wasn't an annoying character at all. It was actually nice to save her!
Cons:
- One of the extras of the CE was finding soaps (beautiful, by the way) in order for your raccoon to wash some clothes and collect uniforms (ballerina, musketeer, disco, or funk or whatever and cowboy). If you made him dress one of those, he would dance and some nice background music would play. This was quite funny, but, I don't know why, not very pleasant at the same time. I felt like I was making fun of the little fella and I didn't liked that. ERS, next time, try to make us able to actually do something good for the cute little helpers that you always include in your games now. I mean it.;
- For me, the bonus chapter wasn't worth it at all. Ridiculous, actually. After Mary is saved, she sorta of falls into a hole. Okaaayy... It was very uninteresting, so I didn't completed it.
Buy the standard version instead, because the Collector's Edition ain't worth it;
I guess that's it. Nothing amazing, but pleasant, nevertheless. It's a really good-looking game with smooth gameplay and with a balanced level of difficulty. It's definitely an improvement over other ERS games, but it's nothing new over casual games.
I had fun playing this game, and I think most people will too, but try it first!
I recommend this game!

This was awful and very disappointing. Time wasted, really, and I was eager to play it when I heard that it was coming out.
This game is a carbon copy of the first "Living Legends".
It feels very shallow, and doesn't have a heart or life to it. If you play "Ice Rose" and then play this one, there's absolutely no difference except that this one has a ridiculous storyline and script. (On how the poisoned apples tree can only be destroyed by fire): "Too bad I stole all their oil cans": Really?!
The only redeeming qualities I can point out are the achievements and your squirrel friend, and those you don't even get in the standard edition.
There's nothing more to say. The "game" itself is the problem. If they ever come up with a third entry in the series, I won't play it. Definitely.
Sorry for the short review, but this game doesn't deserve more. If you played "Ice Rose" first, then I don't recommend this game for you because I think you will be let down.
I don't recommend this game.

"League of Light: Dark Omens" was an amazing game on all levels! Beautiful graphics and music, fun puzzles, very entertaining hidden objects and interactive scenes, and also a nice storyline with a believable magical world filled with lots of fantastic creatures. I have only one con, the ending of the main game was quite abrupt. Although you knew you had destroyed the Dark Lord and Penelope had been saved, it was over very soon.
Here's what I liked more:
- The artwork is very, very beautiful, crisp and whimsical. The snow filled locations and the more colorful ones were wonderful. The characters are all very well drawn, too!;
- The music was very soothing and melodic. The background effects were lovely, too;
- I just loved the interactive hidden objects scenes which also had some small puzzles. They were extremely fun and entertaining to play!;
- I had fun with all the puzzles I found! Some were a bit complicated and others were very easy, but fun, nonetheless;
- The achievements were nice, too. It was cool to get pieces of the fresco each time you won a new achievement, and finding the owls was tricky, but fun, too!
- Wow! The concept art was beautiful and some drawings were funny, too!
- Some creatures you found were already invented, but others were original and wonderful, such as the Ice Giants and the Fireplace Imps, for example;
- This game was very relaxing to play and the gameplay was always smooth;
- The bonus chapter, fortunately, continued the abrupt ending! It was really long, which was great. Helping Arbor, and exploring the Dwarves kingdom was amazing and very fulfilling. A perfect ending;
Cons:
- Abrupte ending. The Dark Lord's castle crumbles and Penelope flies off on the griffin and that's it. It was over.
Something more wouldn't have left me half as disappointed as I was. What I can say is, buy the CE instead, because the bonus chapter continues the story. It almost feels like they did it on purpose for you to buy the collector's edition and that sure isn't nice;
Lately, I haven't been having luck when it comes to games, but this one changed all that! Wonderful in everything, very relaxing and very well produced!
This was definitely one of the most entertaining games I've ever played, an absolute pleasure to play, really!
I recommend this game!

"Fierce Tales: Marcus' Memory", proved to be an equally good game as its predecessor, "The Dog's Heart", however, the storyline wasn't half as good or interesting.
Pros:
- Very smooth gameplay. The game plays like a charm;
- Amazing graphics and artwork. Very colorful, detailed and crisp. These developers always surpass themselves in this area;
- The music was equally beautiful, too. Very calm (except for the one in the cutscenes), and very relaxing;
- Interesting, fun, and exquisite puzzles. A pleasure to play and I pratically managed to solve them all;
- Lots of great extras. Very fun to buy stuff for your aquarium and for your dolphin. Finding the sea animals and reading information about them was really interesting, too. As for the achievements, they weren't hard to be earned, and they also looked beautiful;
- The bonus chapter was amazing, really. Not only the story was way better than that of the main game, but you play from Dolores point of view, and, in my opinion, she is a better character than Marcus and as such, far more interesting. It was really worth to play and to be a part of Vasco's redemption. I think it was so good probably because the main characters of the bonus chapter are only Dolores and Vasco, no Marcus in it, which was a very typical and lame "hero" and also because there is no love story whatsoever in it. The locations, especially the temple were you assemble the crown, are breathtaking. This time, saving Aquapolis was a real pleasure.
Cons:
- Lame storyline. The premise of a love triangle is already bad enough, but they decided to make one of the guys the bad one. "Bad" as in always trying to kill the main character, which unfortunately doesn't die. Marcus is a bland character and a completely uninteresting one, and, since he is what the main game is all about, I couldn't care less were the story was going.
And that's it. I would have gladly given this game 5 stars, if it weren't for the awful storyline and the even worse main character. However, the bonus chapter is totally worth the trouble of completing the main game.
A very beautiful game with amazing puzzles and wonderful extras. A joy to play as long as you ignore Marcus.
I recommend this game!

I only played a bit of the first "Witches' Legacy" game, and, unfortunately, I didn't liked it. It had beautiful graphics, but the uninteresting storyline and the live-action totally pushed me off. Maybe I'll try it again someday... However, this second installment in the series, "Lair of the Witch Queen" was a pleasant surprise. Not only the live-action is now gone, but the graphics and the artwork have improved amazingly, and the game has a lot for you to do and collect. The gameplay moves very swiftly, and although it's nothing new, it's pleasant. The storyline in this game, however, didn't interest me very much, either. I guess evil witches were never my cup of tea...
Pros:
- Unbelievably beautiful and crisp graphics. One of the best in casual gaming, no diggity. The characters artwork is one of the best I've ever seen, too. Lynn's hair flowing with the wind in the dialogue scenes is amazing to watch. The locations are beautiful, too, especially the main square of Rothenburg with those beautiful statues;
- Marvelous animations. The snow falling in the city is just magnificent;
- Nice, unobtrusive music and great sound effects, especially the thunder and rain in the Other World;
- The voice-overs were nice overall, except Lynn's.
- Your little helper, the Imp is so cute it hurts. His animations are very well made, too. A wonderful and fun addition;
- Nice, relaxing gameplay. Typical, but nice, nonetheless;
- Lots of extras! Lots of stuff to collect which is always fun;
- The hidden objects scenes were beautiful and crisp, too, although some objects were a bit hard to spot;
- The bonus chapter had the right lenght and showed some new locations. It was nice, overall, but once again you had to defeat the witch...;
Cons:
- Typical storyline. Insert tags here: "evil witch", "someone wants revenge", "someone's missing", "teen angst" and so on. Hey I forgot the universal one! "Good vs Evil". It doesn't get any more typical than this. Sometimes, it works well, even if it has been used a zillion times, but this time it didn't conviced or interested me;
- Hey, blame me for being picky all you want but I just hate this game's cursor. I just do. I hate it. In a beautiful game like this they could have done a loooooot better. I mean it;
And I think that's it. Play it and love it for what it is. A casual game. Beautiful and very entertaining with great extras and artwork, and a filler storyline. At the end of the day, it's nothing new.
But great, nonetheless, have no doubt about it!
I recommend this game!

"Strange Discoveries: Aurora Peak" was a very nice game to play and it was different, for a change. No gloomy locations or characters and colourful graphics. I really immersed myself in the world of Aurora Peak, it felt believable, the story and the characters. The storyline was a bit different and definitely interesting. A great game, no doubt about it.
The bonus chapter was equally beautiful and Edwards' yacht was very beautifully designed. The storyline was practically the same, but building the machine was very fullfilling. This time, you really did save Aurora Peak and its animals and also its flora.
The puzzles was another thing that I liked about this game. My favorite was the one were you had to heal the little bear cub. I wish there would had been more of these!
My only downfalls with the game were:
- Not that many places to visit. You were almost always at the Resort. More locations would have been really nice.
- In the bonus chapter, there a bit too many HO scenes and, although in the main game you had two or three types of hidden objects scenes, in the bonus chapter you would only look for objects on a list. It was disappointing and a bit tiring.
Overall, I loved to spend time in Aurora Peak! This game was a real joy to play. Very beautiful but also very meaningful in its environment related messages and advices.
I recommend this game!
