Parts of this game are a little like an old Kung Fu movie ("I will save you, daughter!". LOL
It's so beautifully done, however. The artwork is what we've come to expect from Mad Head Games...absolutely gorgeous. Most of the HO Scenes are a Zen-like experience. The music is soothing and a bit haunting.
I liked the story line, too. A life ripped away, stolen before its time...leaving a spirit thrown into traumatic chaos.
It's a little hard for me to put my finger on what bugged me about this game.
I liked the cat. I am a sucker for animal helpers in these games. However, where was the cat when we switched back to the live scenes? Maybe he was only there in the dream, i don't know.
I didn't like some of the game play.
I've never been fond of the "criticizing" voice. For example, you click on something and the dialogue says, "I don't know why I thought that would work." If I want that kind of talk, I'll go to work. LOL
The inventory bothered me too. You couldn't right click to let go of something, you had to put it back in the inventory every time.
Also, holding me hostage to watch all of the credits at the end is not cool! I paid for the game, so I should have the choice on whether I want to sit through the sappy song and watch the credits.
Going between the live acting and the animated scenes was okay, but was so disjointed.
I guess maybe I just wasn't in the mood or something, but this game just wasn't for me.
This is more old-style point and click "Escape the Room" type of game, combined with a storyline that reads like a novel/song. The main character throws everything he has into saving the love of his life, and the two are drawn further and further into "the city". The City has had some dark things happen...that's for sure. Solve the mystery to find out what secrets the City holds!
Cutest doggie ever...Oh, yeah, and the game is pretty good too. LOL

I liked this Mystery Trackers game...I mean the story was ridiculous, but I like the live action characters, the videos, the puzzles, and the HO scenes.
I especially like the interactions with the animals.
The map is very helpful - no running around, just teleport to where you have to be. I confess I get too impatient if I have to click too much between locations and backtrack, etc. (Plus I can never remember where I saw what. lol)
The little dog helper, Elf, is the cutest thing ever. What's funny is that the Detective is male, so I imagine this big, burly detective with this little, tiny cute dog in his bag. <3
I wouldn't recommend this game for beginners, because a few of the puzzles are a bit challenging, but it's perfect for intermediate players.
I love the uniqueness of this game. It is very zen. The gorgeous graphics and music will lift your spirits!
There is no story line, really.
The HO scenes are challenging, but not impossible. Between the HO scenes there are jigsaw puzzles and pipe games. There are also these little vignettes that aren't really games, but are just beautiful works of art that serve to be uplifting and mind expanding.
Some parts are funny. You can tell this is not a game made in the U.S., because we would never ask someone to look for an "enema syringe". LOL
Anyway, I highly recommend this game to anyone who wants a break from the usual HOP, and I'd like to try something different.
I really liked the first half of this game, but going back to the same HOP scenes, like 5 times, gets old quickly. Thankfully there was a good map that let you teleport to other locations.
I found parts of this game to be very challenging, while other parts to be extremely easy. Some of the minigames were quite imaginative! (Loved building the robot. Never seen that kind of puzzle in any other game.)
It's a pretty long game. Try it! You'll probably like it!
This game is about 2.5 years old, and I love the graphics and the cute doll helper.
There were 2 things that would have made this game much more enjoyable for me:
1. A reset button for the mini-games. There were at least 2 mini-games that became totally tedious because there was no reset button. 2. The voice acting. Horrible. I wish there had been an option to turn those off.
Anyway, other than those 2 things, I did enjoy this game. It's not my favorite HOP, but it's still fun. Some of the puzzles and mini-games are a little challenging and sweet.
I'd recommend if you are looking for a game with nice artwork and graphics, but aren't looking for too much of a challenge. Enjoy!
