Based on the demo. Although this game quickly became tedious, I made myself finish the demo, thinking, "It might get better." But it didn't get better. This is the kind of setting I would expect Lon Cheney, Abbott and Costello to appear. Grainy artwork didn't appeal to me. The heroine kept popping up and speaking her thoughts, when it would have been much better for her to simply write them down in the diary.
Just finished this game, and didn't think I'd like it so much. Yes, even with all the dead bodies it's still cheesy, but I still sat on the end of my seat playing this. Our "Hero", the doctor, is not real bright, and misses obvious clues the game player catches right away.
There was more adventure than HOS, and I was very glad of that, since I'm an adventure fan. The game can be confusing, but the hints and map are very helpful. All the back and forth brought my rating down to a 4. The wolf howling for hints got annoying.
My biggest complaint is the abrupt end. Took me a few minutes to "Get it" It should have had a "To be continued" page after the end. The bad guy was who I thought he was, but his revenge even included... Well, I'll let you find out. There HAS to be a sequel to this game!! Justice has to win out!
Based on the demo. This game crashed on me more than once. So I'm not buying it. The graphics are good. Music ok, but repetitive. Puzzles are not real difficult. Storyline is ok. I did like the historical pages, that I could read as an option. They were interesting.
Based on the demo. I really tried to finish the demo, but was unable to. While the storyline is good, it goes downhill from there. The music is boring. The graphics are only ok. My biggest complaint is the modern objects in the HOS scenes. This game is based in the 1600's, and I saw: a hamburger, hot dog, electric iron, cowboy hat, and modern false teeth. George Washington would have loved to have today's false teeth, instead of his wooden ones. All the modern objects ruined the game for me. If they don't bother you, then this might be a good game for you.
Based on the demo. The storyline is good, and the characters are interesting, what little you see of them. Graphics are colorful and easy to see, for the most part, although each scene has some translucent objects. Mini-games are super easy. But there are too many HOS, especially when you consider the HOS contain quite a few objects that have nothing at all to do with the story, and seem out of place. If you like this kind of old-fashioned hidden-object game, then it is perfect for you. I like more adventure and more challenge.
I recommend this game!

NightShift Legacy: The Jaguar's Eye
Mike and Isabel are on the trail of an ancient Aztec Codex known as the Jaguar`s Eye, an artifact of incredible power.
Based on the demo. Hidden object/adventure/puzzle game with good graphics. This game reminds me of the comic books I used to read years ago. For the most part, my problem with the game was the feeling of, "Been there, done that, many times before" Music wasn't all that great, either. But others might like it a lot. My advice would be to try the demo first, to see if it is your type of game.
Based on the demo: The storyline is good, the music is so-so, but the graphics are AWFUL! When even a modern police lab is a filthy junk pile, well, ugh. And objects in the HOS are often strange, and have nothing to do with the storyline. An anvil in a bedroom?
Played the demo, and I was hooked. So I bought it just to find out what happened next, and didn't stop playing the game until it was over. Just finished the game, and I am glad that I bought it. It's a long game, with quite a few HOS, but there is a great story built in, plus other puzzles. The game is fairly challenging, but I only had to look at the walk-through a couple of times. The graphics are good. The characters in the game are a down-to-earth couple who do detective work. So, when they are victimized, they use their detective skills to solve the problem, and get to safety.
Based on the demo, but I will buy this one when I get paid. Even though I'm not a big HOS fan, this game was fun for me. The storyline is one that's been around for hundreds of years, but it works well here. Besides the HOS, there are plenty of tasks that involve strategy, thinking outside the box, etc. Dialogue is supplemented by the finding of diary-style notes left by others, which are full of warnings and tragedies, that highlight the dire predicament the major character is in. Good graphics & music, as well.
I recommend this game!

Mystery of Mortlake Mansion
Explore the dark halls of Mortlake Mansion and discover its secrets! Break the evil spells and become the owner of the mansion!
This is based on the demo. This game proved to be more irritating than fun for me. The voice-overs were terrible, the graphics were so-so, but the storyline was ok...
