Absolutely loved this lengthy game (which other reviewers talk about quite well) but I want to voice my opinion on the bonus game which I just finished playing. HUGE disappointment. It was short, uninteresting, and obviously an after thought. It was almost as if someone else had developed the main game and some else took over to do the bonus. But the main game is GREAT !!! Glad, at least, I got it on sale. I would have waited for the SE version and been JUST as happy!
I had this game for a long time but never wrote a review. Rediscovered it and this is definitely my "go to" game when I want to play something quick. Starts out with a little boy going to his grandfather's farm for the summer and what a disappointment when he finds there's "nothing to do there" not even a computer. But grandfather gets him busy helping do some planting and the fun begins. While you are busy building your farm there's hilarious antics and comments and words to watch and read but there's also chores to do in which you have to find things (example) to build a bridge across the creek. The crops that grow are taken to market to sell but it's in the form of match three which can get VERY challenging! But you've got some bombs and beehives that help you get out of tough spots. The more you sell the more improvements can be made at the farm. Once the farm is completed you get the option of starting a new farm, redesigning your farm, or just keep playing the match 3 part.(spoiler alert... he never does get a computer- ha) GREAT game! Want more games like THIS one...that's funny and entertaining!
When I played the demo I had to get this game but thought the Collector's Ed would be worth the money. It wasn't. It was a super short bonus game and it didn't seem to resolve anything but left me confused.
Loved everything about this game and am excitedly looked forward to the next chapters (just as I look forward to reading the next book in a series). Can't wait and wish I could find more games like this that don't take themselves so seriously but invite you to go along on a fun adventure!
Played MANY games but this is the first game I've felt compelled to write a review for. I played the standard edition trial and just HAD to have the CE for the bonus level, too and it was well worth waiting for. Loved the fact that there were real people that you had to ask questions to and you really need to listen to them to find out what you need to do and where you need to go. Some criticisms of the voices/Southern accents but I thought they were spot on for their characters. It was challenging in parts, the length was great (although I hated to see it end -- it was that fun) ! Looking foward to more games like this one with the characters who actually talk to you and give you little tasks to complete before giving you more info. Encore!
