Based on completed demo only (my rating 3.5*, so I gave 4*)
This game is by Boomzap Entertainment, the same makers of the Faircroft’s Antiques series. I really wish this DEV would read the reviews to that series too because I think it would help this one get higher ratings.
This game has the exact same problematic features as most reviewers didn't like in the FA series. I left a review under FA #3: The Heir of Glen Kinnoch CE and FA #1 Treasures of Treffenburg SE that totally fit this game too.
I liked: ~ The graphics are sharp and clear. ~ The detailed HOP scenes were great and it felt like they were done with care. ~ loved the 1920 x 1080 resolution in options (finally a DEV has this) ~ A double R click will "zoom" the area you're searching ~ There is an "ambient volume" slider in the menu ~ I loved the HOP where you had to find the smaller pictures within the scene that match.
Didn't like: ~ The same delivery of the story as Faircroft's Antiques. The other reviewers mentioned a problem with all the clicking through text in that series and it's why this one is getting low reviews too, imo.
~ The rotating puzzles have no thought. If you rapidly click the picture squares they will *stop*... 1, 2, 3 clicks & the square sticks when they are in the correct position; which requires no thought. ~ Same annoying pick-up sound *every* item you click (also the same sound in the mini-games.) ~ The ambient sounds weren't always working. I really disliked the music so when you turned it off, you weren't always hearing background noises with the game effect sounds. I prefer ambient sounds like it’s done in the HOG My Beautiful Earth. ~ Zoom zones still have sparkling stars even when there is no item in the ZZ. I prefer when the ZZ will open & close when items are currently in them. ~ I absolutely hated the "Match Pairs HOP". In order to even find the first item (to match with) you have to click every item in the scene first.
I'm so sorry I'm nitpicking this game but (after reading all the other reviews too), I believe it has the ability to be highly rated with a few small changes. This game has so many areas it does shine that it could be outstanding.

3 MODES of play: 1. Relaxed-easy 2. Relaxed-medium 3. Timed-hard
LEVELS: CE has 69 ea. that unlock when you play the scene. The CE levels are played/listed with 2 other scenes per location you are searching in because the locations have 3 scenes per area.
FIND 2 ITEMS EACH SCENE: 1. Each scene has either a flag or a fleur-de-lis to look for. There is an indicator that fills in on the top middle of screen when it’s found. The CE levels didn’t appear to have these. 60 in the game. Finding them all unlocks “bonus minigame mode”. 2. Find an 8 BALL. The 8 balls didn’t have an indicator if you found them (but needed one.) 50,000 points if you get them all. I didn't figure out the reason of the point system. You can’t buy any fun stuff with the points that I could see in the demo.
HOS- have 5 modes that can be played in any order. 1. list (abc) 2. scambled words 3. missing letter (_bc) 4. ? riddle (cAb) & 5. star*mode- (find object with a shadow image) Each HOP has 16 items.
MG: Easy mini games, such as Word Search, are in-between every 3 HOS.
ZOOM ZONES: The 2ndary windows show as sparkles. If the items listed aren’t found in the main HOS they will be found in one of the 2 sparkling zoom zones in each scene.
GRAPHICS- Real photos make for crystal clear game play even on a large monitor. I wish the HOPAs would use this type of graphics for a change.
MAGNIFYING GLASS- Is found on R of toolbar and can be used to scroll scene.
PROGRESS TAB: In the menu, keeps your stats and score.
Below, I've listed the stuff I didn't like as much: (this is why I rated the game 4* instead of 5*)
MUSIC & SFX: I didn’t like the music; it played way too much but when I turned it off there was no environmental sounds at all. I prefer it like the game Our Beautiful Earth 5 which has relaxing sounds in the scenes instead of Jazz-like music.
DIARY TAB: Has a little paragraph of information of the areas you search. I wish they had added HOS photo thumbnails of the actual search scenes they are referring to. Instead of the top half of the diary page having the game’s name, it would have helped the gamer be more interested if we knew what scene(s) you were referring to with ea. informational blurb.
SOUVENIRS- 19 of these. In the demo it appears to be an achievement page. These weren’t as fun as other games of this type. This things I liked about this game far outweighed the things I didn’t. Thank you 8 Floor Games! I really liked this great game.
fromIf you like this type of "Multiple HOS" only type of game try Bonfire Stories 3. It is also multiple HOPs but with a bit of a story. It's not really a HOPA (no real adventure)
The first one I played in this series was #5. I loved that one too. This one was a $2.99 sale today and again, I bought it right away. I was so impressed by this game I tried to locate the credits. The front of the game says Made with Unity, BFG, BD Studio Games but doesn’t actually list credits like most other games do in the menu.
The point of each level is to gain 3 gold stars. In order to do this you need to complete 3 tasks in each scene. 1. Find all the objects in the scene. 2. FIND 3 CATS: look in the zoom zones too. I loved that they meow when you find them but wished the meow was a happier one. This is kind of an urgent “I really want food” meow, instead of a happy “whatsup” kinda meow (you other cat lovers will know what I mean, lol) 3. FIND A PAW PRINT: Each paw print is some little animal you get. It would have been nice to see the entire collection of animals you received. Each animal makes a sound when you find the hidden paw print but you don’t see the animals again in OBE #3. In OBE #5 there is an album that holds these I’m pretty sure.
HOS- There is 30 hidden object scenes in the game. Each scene has 20 items to find. In between each HOP is a mini game. The items are very well hidden; hidden with care it felt like. Each scene is some beautiful location and the 2 zoom zone windows are other areas of the main scene. I thought that was such a neat way to show a location. And wow, are these really beautiful places to spend some down-time & chill out. I do wish each of the locations had a label as to where, on Earth, we were searching.
(MG) There are many types of Mini Games. Find the difference, jigsaw (the jigsaw pieces made snapping noises which I really liked.) There is Mahjong, fit the different shaped pieces into a grid to make them fit but I really can’t stand this type of MG, and others (Suduko, etc) and any of the MG can be skipped.
GIFT TAB: As you complete the HOS you earn game currency to purchase “gifts” that create a completed scene when they’re found.
ZOOM ZONES: The 2ndary windows in this game are a bit different than other games of its type. They are located in a vertical column of 2 scenes each HOP and are located on the R-middle of the main screen. The zoom zones will open & close according to when items are currently there.
GRAPHICS- Real photos make for ultra-clear game play even on a large monitor. I wish the HOPA’s would use this type for a change.
SFX- Is a cut above. There is a perfect balance of calming environmental sounds in some scenes and very pretty music in others. You can hear the beach waves, waterfalls, birds chirping... Wow. Just wow. Now this is how it's done in this kind of game! A+++++
Thank you BD Studio Games! The replay value on this game is timeless.
Based on the completed demo only I liked: - The sound effects. - Overall just a really fun matching game to play.
Didn't like: - The Christmas music playing in April. It felt like the music in this game may have been copy/pasted from a Christmas Shopping Clutter. Some of the later songs were really good though. - The first MG that requires you to swap & flip tiles to create an image. In general I don’t like those. - The "edible items" level requires you to find food items but I was frustrated that the following items weren't classified as edible: artichokes, mushrooms, red berries, and jarred preserves/syrup...however...a sprig of white berries (with leaves) *was* considered food (for who? lol)
I'm really compulsive with those yellow hint stars. I rapidly click every one of them from the board like a madwoman before I can even start matching items and the moment one gets uncovered I'm on that sucker too. Ha-ha

fromWS Everburning Candle is one of my fav games of all time here @ BFG. It has the best HOS I've ever played. If you haven't done the demo yet I've added a link so you don't miss out.
Based on completed CE version (+ ce bonus content)
I did a more detailed review under the CE version's page- which has more info about the bonus content if you're on the fence as to which version to get.
The main game ends well & it's independent from the CE ending. It took me just over 3 hours to complete the SE portion. The entire game including the CE bonus content came to just under 4 hours (and I really loved Part 3 of the CE bonus play.) I skipped a lot of mini-games and spent my time on the HOS because I prefer those.
Chapter 3 has some really beautiful scenes by a lake. I thought the graphics in this area (and in some scenes overall) were better than others. The music and environmental audio is just A+ here. It was so beautifully done, to actually hear the birds chirping and the water lapping off the dock. The music didn't play too much or interfere with the environmental sounds so it was just perfectly done. Sometimes a DEV will use the music too often and I prefer it like this where there are environmental sounds over long stretches of gameplay.
The lake area in Chapter 3 has a remarkable MG that has the prettiest scenes in the entire game, imo. You get a map to get from area called The Lake to The Graveyard. This MG can be a bit tricky so just trust me and don't give up or you'll miss some really beautiful areas. You must enter several scenes to find and use one object at a time to get through to the next area in the game. It is a 22 step MG that has no hints. I took a picture with my phone of the MG in the CE Walkthrough Guide to complete it since it won't allow you to access the WTG while playing it. My favorite scenes were Birch Cove & The Swamp. They should have used these scenes in the main game. Hopefully BFG will add back the Blog Walkthrough guides that used to be supplied on the SE's main page because this MG needed one badly.
It seems so insignificant to be writing a review to this game after seeing Grandma Studio's Facebook page and the tragedy & weight of what they are enduring currently. I have so much empathy for you & your loved ones. You are in my prayers.
This is a link style M3 with intermittent MG. I do like this type of M3 normally, but this one was a little bland.
-I liked the sound effects
-I love when you can build an area in an M3, like this game had, but I wasn't thrilled with the area you upgraded here, or the upgrades themselves (apply a bush.) They were purchased with in-game currency but I found the items a bit boring and they were expensive. You should be able to upgrade your build scene every other level at least. - I thought the graphics were washed out and not as clear as they could be.
- One of the mini-games was a jigsaw puzzle (around 30 pieces) and when it was finished it didn't stay on the screen long enough to look at the finished picture. The picture itself was rather dull anyway.
-Usually in an M3 like this the longer the linked match the better. But this game has gems to drop to the bottom and artifacts you have to uncover from the sand so just pay attention to matching small matches around the artifacts so they drop into the completed tab.
-I thought this game needed more glitter & bang.
- The Ancient Egyptian style music was beautifully done.
This M3 by Seven Sails LTD isn't a bad game; but I just wasn't wowed by it.
There are no maps of any kind. Part of the charm of the older games was navigating the scenes as that was part of the puzzle in itself. I really loved they didn't overplay music; instead this has environmental sounds that make you feel more in tune with the game.
I didn't like having to read the text and watch the cutscene at the same time but that's how the original games were in 2010. The games of today spend far too much time making the mouth move when the character talks. I'd rather the dev spend time on quality cutscenes the way 5BN Games has always done. Pay attention to minor glints in the scenes because that is a new scene to investigate next. The hint system was helpful and I wasn't lost ever.
I really liked the way the graphics seemed more realistic. I don’t like garish unrealistic colors and prefer them like this game. There was deep shadowing and actual detail but I wished the scenes had been a bit clearer. The graphics stretched out on my larger monitor so I wish they'd had the widescreen option to check along with the full-screen to clarify things (which result in black bars on either side with these old games, like the Reincarnation series.)
There are no singular Hidden Object scenes here as the items you are looking are located via several scenes. The whole game is like finding hidden objects and placing them one at a time. It was really fun to play a game a bit different like this. The DEV of today should all test the waters with games like this and use both methods instead of making every single game an exact replica. I thought it was really fun this way!
I just bought the CE to Tearstone 2. This demo didn't really have much in common with #2 so they both feel like stand-alone games. This is a definite buy for me, as well, and I'm really beginning to love this new DEV. I can't wait to see what they do next.
I played 40min of the 60min demo, & stopped when I got stuck. I have always preferred to use a Walkthrough Guide when I play any Adventure/only game.
This game brought me back to my love for point & click Adventure games. They were my favorite type of game other than console gaming & HOPA. A mystery game called Still Life (& Still Life 2) was probably my favorite game of this type. I also loved Siberia & Siberia II which can still be purchased here at BFG.
I liked the point & move system this game has. I liked that it made you think and you weren't easily handed everything.
I took a bit of a break from Casual Games around 2020 & when I came back I noticed the newly released Standard Editions no longer had the Blog Walkthrough Guides on the game’s homepage. I was really bothered by that and cancelled an 11 year ongoing BFG membership over it. I used those all the time. I have since rejoined but still unhappy over it. I like to reference where I am in a game and obviously use them when I'm stuck which happened in this game. I’m really surprised the CE version to this game didn't have one either.
If BFG adds a Blog Walkthrough to this game's SE, I will buy it right away. I'm sure there are other members who also used them and notice they have disappeared & want them back. I assume BF stopped them to nudge customers to pay double for the the CE (which usually come with one built in.)
But what they don't realize is many people don't have the extra money for the CE and may not buy the game at all but would have bought the SE if it had one, like me with this game. I loved seeing this Horror Adventure game being released here and hope they offer more.
It really feels like this DEV cared about this game and poured their hearts & souls into it. The humor was just spot on, like whacking the alarm clock & the bullfrog HOP.
If you are a fan of games that cue you in on every single stumbling point (like the big shadow of the missing item **ugh**, and ones that congratulate you every action, then this isn't your game.) This game makes you *think* and trust me, it will try your IQ. It reminds me of the "older games" I have really come to miss. The hint system was really good, as was the Walkthrough Guide. So you won’t be lost for long, just keep trying things different ways. Click everywhere.
It takes a few minutes to catch on that the Inventory PLUS items don't have any completion alert once you've "gotten the right answer" or combination. So I found the trick was to try to apply the item when I thought I had the right combo even though I’d replayed the whole little puzzle the same way a few times but didn't realize I was right the 1st time. The glowing + indicator just doesn't shut off even though you have the answer, until you apply the object (the birdhouse & the clock puzzle.)
DIARY: There... I gave it a heading because I was so impressed. I think this is what today’s games are lacking most. A story that is involved enough to need a journal/diary. I'm not sure why the DEV thought we didn't want the diaries any more since I've been reading the reviews...for years....always requesting them and that cutscenes & diaries were needed! Why on earth would they remove them? The original HOPA's didn't have personal notes lying all around town; they delivered the story with a notebook and cutscenes. I always took the time to read every new entry which makes the game longer (hint hint, dev). This game also used the diary to hold clues like the original MCF games. Holy cow. This DEV gave me a diary and thought I was smart enough to actually refer to a diary, get a clue out of it, then use it ***without a sticky note**** to solve a problem; WOW!
The music played way too much but it could be adjusted or turned off because it was on a separate slider in options than the environmental sounds (very well done.) The storyline was a bit odd but maybe it’s because I don’t really like Fantasy Game storylines.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the graphics, though the scenes were really beautiful. The HOP/only games have the graphics so ultra-clear; I just can't understand why the HOPAs of today aren't. Some objects, like the rope spools on the airship were crystal clear, as were the characters, which I loved, but the graphics in general weren't as clear & defined. I don't think I'll ever get graphics like in the game Fright ever again...or the Midnight Mysteries series. :(
I just think this game would have been an absolute gorgeous classic if they'd used the style of graphics from (SE/only game) Eventide 2 The Sorcerer's Mirror (also, Enigmatis 3 The Shadow of Karkhala which used the same style.) This game was such a breath of fresh air. Welcome Spring. Thank you Dragonseye LTD. This is such a great game. I hope we'll see more of you!
