I must admit, after playing THOUSANDS of games now, the SYBERIA SERIES is still a favorite of mine large file adventure type. The storyline is adorable and I have always hoped they would come out with another like it. I actually liked Syberia 2 better, with the little dog trotting along besider the main character. It is perfectly done.
GAMES LIKE THIS:
A game that has a somewhat close FEEL though is called
CHRONICLES OF MYSTERY-THE TREE OF LIFE - its also a third person large file game.
Another game that that was on a much smaller level, but had the same atmosphere, a first person HOG is called,
MALICE-TWIN SISTERS

THIS GAME STANDS ALONE. ITS JUST AWSOME
To outline the game, you are in a weathly creepy mansion trying to locate your girlfriend whos been napped by a serial killer. There are speakers in all the mansions rooms, and grounds and the killer taunts you as you play (just like in the movie SAW, but more layed back). Ocassionally we even see Oscar, taunting us.
The BONUS PLAY on this is like the "hot fudge" on a really great iced cream sundae, it absolutely COMPLETES the game and can't be missed. In the bonus, you are in an abandonded amusement part with roller coasters etc, it was just too fun to miss.

This game was absolutely perfect. The cutscenes, lighting, and general, computer generated artwork are all amazing. Big bucks obviously went into making this game.
And then, they give us a FREE collectors edition walkthrough guide for the regular game price!
Harry Houdini is so interesting to begin with and they had a lot of fun creating this game around him, with the ghosts and all.
Hint system great, in case you are lost it puts you back on track. Game play is the same as the others in this series.

You still collect the green clovers in each scene as well as a crow in each scene for hints.
This GAME WAS SPOT ON. I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT IT, I LOVED IT!! And thankyou for the "deluxe" wtg...and xtra features. It made me run and buy the game that much faster!!

Before I mention anything else about this game, it will be this. I am a huge animal lover. In Chapter 4 you enter the "witches den" and there are little dead animals hanging all over the room. It is so bad you are carrying a bottle of fly spray in your inventory to kill all the flys in there. A ritual book shows how a bat is cut open and how its blood is removed. MAJOR INAPPROPRIATE. Because a couple of chapters earlier I was making a potion for a sneezing doorknob. So if this game is designed for kids, that is just not cool, and completely NOT NEEDED.
There are definate Pros and Cons to this game. I just completed the entire game including the bonus level. I was forced to replay from the start because of the chap 4 glitch where I took the paper before feeding the cat.
I bought this collectors edition for the simple fact it is so rare to see them offer screen savers and this one has 3. They don't do all theat much #like the Reincarnations series but...#They don't fit. Most people have widescreen moniters now, so developers, should take note.
THIS COLL ED OFFERS: 1.walkthrough guide 2. xtra gamplay #which by the way, is better than the game# and it was prettier than the rest of the game which took place in the house. 3. Wallpapers- 6 saveable wallpapers, that appear in your computers control panel with pictures, hopfully they won't dissapear when the game is unistalled, I have seen that happen before. 4. Music Soundtrack, 6 tracks you can listen to an not save #why?# 5. Concept art, some color, some blk & wht, 14 plates #which is also saveable, under my docs#
Another con, The hidden object scenes, and this game in general, is hand drawn, so searching for items is really hard sometimes if your looking for an item that just isn't drawn to look like that item. I prefer the type of game like DIRE GROVE and MYSTERY CASE FILES Escape from Ravenhearst, where the items are computer generated and look like they should.
The music was also annoying and you had to adjust it off after awhile. And the "imp"? Who else wishes we could have locked him up in the basement in the first 5 min. and never seen him again in the game, he was just stupid, with the horns, and they explain him in bonus, and its as dumb as you could ever imagine!

PROS, I loved how they made the cut scenes with live characters, same as Mystery Case File 13skulls and newer. I I also loved how in one scene you would pick up a piece of paper with 1/2 a drawing. 2 scenes later you'd get the other 1/2, and when you'd put them together in your games diary, They would animate! So cute! All and all, I am happy with my 3 screen savers and the bonus was so pretty compared to the rest of the game, that those 2 things make buying the collectors worthwhile for me. HINT SYSTEM is perfect. It makes it so easy if your in a bind, and hint is right on the ball.
HERE R SOME STATS, the second time around, I started taking notes.Took 2 hr 45min THE SECOND TIME to get to chap 4 cat feeding scene The first time longer because I didn't know my way around or where items were etc. Bonus took me about 1hr 25min.

This was the brightest of the 3 in the Dark Parables series. This is an "Evil queen" type game with pretty #frosty#scenery and amazing cutscenes. This Coll Ed. comes with 1.Strat guide 2. xtra gameplay 3.wallpapers 4.movie gallery 5.concept art 6. music soundtrack 7.puzzles and early access. Personally I'd rather a good Screensaver anyday over the music... but all in all the Coll Ed. gives a lot. The other 2 Dark Parables are a bit darker, I actually preferred them that way, and the evil queen aspect was aimed more to the younger gen. then the first 2 as well, I felt.
If you like this game you will also like:
Awakening: The Goblin Kingdom and Lost Souls Enchanted Paintings.
And if you prefered the First 2 Dark Parables
you will probalbly like: Macabre Mysteries: Curse of the Nightingale

You will LOVE this gorgeous adventure game. This one is a keeper for your library and its one I actually replayed recently.
The second Syberia is equally gorgeous and fun with quircky automatons. A happy blast to play these.

This game has it all, but my favorite things about it is you play a few different storylines completing different past lives, Its SO FUN! The hidden obj. scenes are interactive and the game is set up like a pop up book at the beginning. I loved all 3 in the Reincarnations series and this is the best. The game is clear and objects tend to look more realistic and not hand drawn.
If you STILL need more...The collectors edition version is loaded with a wtg, xply,wallpapers,concept art, music soundtrack and the game is worth buying for the screensaver alone, its one of the pop up books coming to life....

This game has it all, but my favorite things about it is you play a few different storylines completing different past lives, Its SO FUN! The game is clear and objects tend to look more realistic and not hand drawn.

This is still one of my all time favorites, and I'm an AVID casual gamer. The scenes are clear, and organized, just plain gorgeous. Great storyline too. Here is one I'd buy for all devices. Loved it start to finish. I really love hidden objects that are not hand drawn, and more clearly computer generated like this; for instance a battery really looks like a battery here. My only beef is I couldn't load/save the screensaver, and that was discouraging(running windows 7).Maybe that was just me, but I never had that happen, and I do prefer when the coll editions allow you to "download and keep" the wallpapers, etc. I was able to keep the wallpapers from this game though which was a plus.
If you like this game you will love the 2nd Hallowed Legends, and you will
also probably like Enigmatis, Ghosts of Maple Creek
