I hit play and the screen opens up to a bunch of clouds with a couple of pyramids and buildings in the very top left hand corner and that is it; nothing else happens?? The game does not start and there is nothing to click on to start the game. I clicked all over the screen and the top corner where the buildings were, nothing. No way to play. Really, did they not BETA this before you put it out for release?
Developers reviewing their own games...Not Cool! When I reviewed the Collector’s Edition I said I had mixed feelings on this version of Hercules but now playing the SE version I just find the whole thing annoying. Not a fan of the pills and certainly don’t get the reasoning behind having three in a row (all the same) that you have to click on to move forward in the level rather than clicking on them when you need them. Seems like laziness on the part of the developers, rather than put any thought into obstacles let’s just throw pills out there. Not crazy about the little girl and her paintings. Sorry, I just don’t get it or find it as cutezee as they must have meant it to be. At level number 10 I have all gold and then this level seems impossible which brings me to the uselessness of the strategy guide. Again laziness on the developer’s part. Rather than step it out so you can read it and work out a strategy you want with the guide as a helper they, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that they need no help from you and instead use annoying blue arrows pointing to what you should do next. By the way, blinking blue arrows just in case you miss what they are pointing at. Try it and decide for yourself but I mourn for the old fun Hercules before the developers felt the need to give us the “new and improved versions”. Final thought “Please get rid of the Pills”!! They are irritating..

If you buy the CE for the strategy guide you can pass on this CE and wait for the SE. Again laziness on the developer’s part. Rather than write it out so you can read it and work out a strategy you want with the guide as a helper they, in their infinite wisdom, have decided that they need no help from you and instead use annoying blue arrows pointing to what you should do next. So no overview of the whole level just step by step hand holding with a few arrows at a time. Since I will not be using the strategy guide I believe I will wait for the SE if I buy at all. Try it and decide for yourself but I mourn for the old fun Hercules before the developers felt the need to give us the “new and improved versions”.
A definite no buy for me and I am being generous with the two star rating. There is no way to replay a level if you don’t get 3 Spiders. Why wouldn't the developers allow us to be able to replay a level? Surely they know that most gamers are OCD about getting 3 Stars/Spiders. Bonuses regenerate quickly so not much challenge or skill to clear the board. I only had one mini game and it was a very simple jigsaw. BUT the worst aspect of this game is being able to tell what squares have not been cleared. I ran out of time on one level because I had one tile left and it was not highlighted so in the dark as to what tile I needed to clear. Afterwards I could not replay the level. The Halloween Theme reminded me that I own a favorite Halloween Game “Spooky Bonus” so if you are looking for a fun Halloween Match Game check it out! I am going to load and play it now! Happy Halloween Everyone!
Sorry all you 5 star reviewers but I thought this was a horrible game. Twice now I have wasted my money on Jewel Match Games. In this one either the boards are ridiculously easy or close to impossible. If you like to buy the extras with stars from the bonus games, too bad because getting stars is almost impossible. Instead of one board to finish you have to play three boards and the first one with the butterflies is impossible to beat unless you can get some arrows to knock them off the board or use your hammer. The only way I found to do this is to go to the other two boards first and as you play jump back every time your hammer powers up and remove the butterflies. My biggest complaint is when the heck do you actually start to build castles?? All the castles are on the same page, no scenes to play just one big scene and I cannot tell you how many boards I have played and all I have managed to get done is buy grass, stairs and one small piece of a castle and once I bought that it went right back to grass and trees or a very small statue and everything is so expensive you can only buy one piece at a time. Last Jewel Match buy for me. Once their fault, twice mine. I should have known better but I was pulled in by all the 5 star reviews and thought after I demoed “It must get better as you go along”. Should have stuck with my first impression! And to add insult to injury it is the Collector's Edition so twice the loss of money. I do not recommend this game.
I am surprised at all the bad reviews. In fact, I almost did not play the demo due to them. Thanks Joybelle, your review made me try the demo. I wonder if they (bad reviewers) noticed you could cut down trees as that made the waiting for supplies go a little faster. While this game might not be the most challenging game I have ever played or have as many options in the settings I found it to be entertaining and fun. I do believe it is an older game as it does not have all the bells and whistles we have come to expect from our games. It is a gather and build TMgame but also by level 4 or 5 it picks up.In fact I love getting 3 Stars on every level and I am having to replay levels and change my strategy to achieve that in this game. I recommend this game as long as you are not an expert player. I think they might be bored with this game but for me it was fine. I give it a 3.5 but will bump it up to 4 due to the harshness of some of the other reviewers. I notice the newer reviews coming in are giving it higher stars. As always give the demo a try you might or might not like it!
I was surprised at the one star review. I feel that was a little harsh when they never played the game due to technical difficulties. I had no problems. I loved the first Robin Hood and while this version might not be the most challenging game (so far) I have ever played I found it to be entertaining and fun. It is a gather and build TMgame but also by level 9 you are encountering the guards which you need to set traps and distractions for. Also different around level 6 maybe 7 you have to choose 3 out of 5 characters with different abilities. to play the level with (I don’t remember this in the first Robin Hood). Up to you to decide which characters and abilities fit the level. Now is it worth the CE price? To me no, but I have no interest in music, wallpapers etc. but would not mind getting the extra levels to play. I will wait for the SE as much as I would like to get back to playing the game although with the sale I might just go ahead and buy. Decisions, Decisions! I recommend this game. As always give the demo a try you might or might not like it!
I was excited when I saw this game and all the great reviews. I am not sure how this got so many 5 star reviews. They must have 10 times the eyesight I have. The backgrounds are so dark I cannot even see the puzzle pieces more less figure out where they would go. I could not even tell if they were an outside frame piece with out moving them to a place on the grid that had some decent lightness on the background. I play for enjoyment not to strain my eyes and aggravate myself! Definite No Buy for me. As always try the demo it may be fine for you but disappointing to me.
Was on the fence about this game until I got to level 10. That definitely made my mind up for me. Impossible to play. There is a warrior up on the hill and the second and I do mean the second you send your helper to collect a supply he freezes her with sticks around her. You cannot play the level because you are either unfreezing your player or sending Megara to inactivate him so he cannot freeze your helper. Once unfrozen she does not continue on with her task, you have to mark it again and then in split level timing jump up to the hill and inactivate him by clicking on him. You have absolutely zero time to plan a strategy or even see what needs to be done next. This was done in the Robin Hood Time Mgt game but done so much better. There was a decent length of time for him to catch his bearings again while you collected supplies and after so many konks on the head he became helpless. I also want to mention that you will need 20/20 vision to play this game because the supplies needed to complete a task in the bubble are so small you cannot distinguish what the heck they are. Basically you are playing blind and looking for the green circle to let you know you have enough supplies to remove/build the required tasks. I have deleted this game from my Manager and I highly DO NOT recommend this game. Ridiculous, I have no idea what the developers were thinking, I have to believe they weren’t! Strange because I believe from the looks of this game it is the same developers from the Hercules Series, one of my all time favorites, I have every game from that series.
I gave up on level 4.6. I found this game to be confusing and very hard to make a strategic plan because everything cost so much. You spend all your time trying to accumulate supplies to get where you need to be to start reaching the set goals. This was not a fun game and that is why I play these games FOR FUN not to get frustrated and hacked off! Last purchase for me on the Hercules Series and that includes the one with his daughter. I demoed that one and again what the heck. Just repetitious on every level. At least it was not full of pills and huge 50 gold crystals.
