I bought this game because of the many positive reviews. I have never heard of the game dev. so I decided to give it a try. While playing the game, the cursor seemed to be slow, which I never experience playing other game. The loading each scene is fine although sometimes the mouse clicks more than necessary, I don't know why.
The game is very short, in my opinion. I think I finish it in less than 3 hours (main game). I almost never use the SG, but I don't find it very useful because the SG has no index and bunch of sentences put together, it is difficult to read. The game is rather easy, which is good for me. There is no interactive HOG and most of the puzzles I can solve less than 5 seconds. I am sure expert gamers will find this game too easy to play.
The graphic is fine, rather blurry at times. The demon, I am sorry, but it's not scary at all. In fact, rather amusing. The music is OK but it lacks special effects. If you are just into the game and won't mind these things, I am sure you will find this game satisfying.
Overall, I like the game. I also bought the sequel to the series so I hope for an improvement on those areas from the dev.

At first, I wasn't convinced. I have the movie and I love it. I am not sure it will be the same if this game is made based on that movie. Turns out, it IS based on the movie. Once again, I felt pessimist. What good is a game if you already know the ending from the very beginning? However I decided to give in and bought this game during the sale last weekend.
As a CE, it gives lots of achievements, literally, which makes me even wonder, do they give us achievement way too easily and the term 'achievement' itself is taken for granted. The horseshoes, are not to be collected to GET trophies. You BUY them, which is basically items to fill in Constable's office. I found them a bit tricky to find, and in the end I can't buy all the items I need.
However, those things aside, this new developer (Fenomen Games) really goes out of their way to make a great game. Although the game is really based on the movie, there are many differences as you progress through the game. Once again I was reminded not to judge the game by the very first scene. The graphic is crisp, even better than many other well-known game dev. out there. The music really suits the atmosphere. Each chapter is marked with a loading scene and it can help us track our progress. Although sometimes the voice overs can be a bit whiny and cheesy, it is really not bad. I enjoy it, even.
The bonus chapter is good, and it really want me to give kudos to the dev. which I think have done a great job making this game. I would recommend you to try this game and not judging it based on the movie. You won't be disappoiinted.

When I first tried the demo, it didn't impress me, but second's time the charm when I bought the game thanks to the President's Day Sale and I'm hooked. The game is really creepy and the ghost bell creeps me out. The game story is well-written, well-developed and flows nicely. There are tons of HOG and sometimes I am frustrated with them, because they are a bunch of items, not junk, but I found them hard to find. There is no interactive map, sadly, while there's a lot of backtracking. The bonus chapter is one of the best I have seen in many CEs. Kudos to the dev. (Artifex Mundi) and hope they will release a sequel soon.

I played this immediately after I played City of Fog so I can compare almost immediately between the two. Although City of Fog was released ages ago, I don't see much different with this one except that it has a faster skip button (I play casual) and that it is widescreen now. The story is not bad, but the SG is the same style, no index, bunch of sentences piled up together and it's not even interactive. If it's released as a sequel, it should have had better navigation. There is no map and interface is the same. One disappointing thing is that the quality of graphic which seems to go downhill. City of Fog has excellent graphic that is so lifelike. I tried to make it fullscreen, but there is no such option. Quite disappointing. I don't really care about live actors, to me they add nothing. Voice overs is better in City of Fog. Those who like City of Fog may find this game lacking. For a CE it lacks the special factor like achievements. Nothing here, quite a bland game. If the dev. ever going to release another sequel, they better fix those things!

I have the SE and I haven't played this game for so long, but then the sale came in and I bought the CE. I think this game is getting better since the last time I played it, of course this may sounds weird but I never really pay attention that time, now that I see the graphic is really detailed, nice story, good puzzles, I am glad that I also bought the CE. One thing I don't like is that they don't have widescreen. The SG is also pretty basic and there's a lot of backtracking since it has no map feature. But all in all I love this game very much: nice music, creepy atmosphere. Really good to play at nighttime. I can't wait to play the sequel in the series!

As the title stated, I am a fan of BoomZap games, so this one I bought without even trying the demo. I think this game is like a combination of Avatar and Atlantis, where you see many strange plants and animals. The game is pretty long, but too bad I don't know how to use the map feature. I don't think the map is interactive. There're few HOS and mostly interactive. Very few items to find. Minigames are abundant and fun, not too difficult. Voice overs are great and there are achievements to collect, although I can't seem to find the bugs that we need to collect throughout the game. I am satisfied playing this game, esp. since I bought it during the sale this weekend. Definitely a game to try, don't let the title put you off, although you're not a fan of flora like me, you'll surely find this game entertaining enough to keep you in your seat.

Fiona is back and we must save her once more from the Shade. In this sequel of Otherworld, BoomZap presents us with a game with much better detail, great voice overs and more achievements. I love the first one in the series and I bought this one without even trying the demo. The story continues from the first one, so if you haven't played it, you should, so that you will know the story behind Fiona.
The game excels in every aspect, but I find that the hint button is not very useful. When the map shows me that I have something to do in that area, I click hint and nothing shows. But the hint button is used and recharged. All I have to do is going to other area, click hint, and then it will tell me what to do. Maybe it's a glitch.
I played the whole game with bonus for 4hours15 min, longer than I expect, so I'm happy. Bonus content is abundant, I esp. love the concept art, the thing that I always look for in a CE, and this one has a lot of them, so it's a plus. The ending is not abrupt and didn't say where next, I suppose there will be another suquel from this one.

An Elephant Games for the price of SE, this game is surely worth the price. However, it feels more like the early stage of Elephant Games, which nowadays are associated with producing excellent games like Mystery Trackers, Nutcracker, with excellence in graphics and storyline. This game however, has blurry cutscenes, no live actors, no voice overs, no interactive HOG scenes, although the music and soundtrack are EG original, this doesn't prevent me for giving it a 5-star because the length of the game for an SE is long, and it's full of suspense and action from the beginning to the end. The ending gives you lots of questions, but I can't wait to see the sequel. However, I don't see any connection with the words Urban Legends. Is it because the culprit wears a mask?? anyhow the Maze provides a fun game and shouldn't be missed.

I bought this game and Antique Road Trip USA with free game coupons and I'm glad that I did. Both are entertaining games and although are in the same series, there's some difference and I am glad that this second one is geared towards game with a story, where you combine inventory items to find the items that your customers are looking for. I was clueless at first but after one scene, I get familiar with it. I esp. love the puppy, I chose beagle. I love the feature that we can also dress up our pet..
One downside is: why they have a son? the first game at the end mentioned that they have a daughter named Jessica and in the second game it's boy named Colin. It's a bit inconsistent. Compared to the first game, there're less states to explore and less items to buy in the shop, which is a pity. However the game is really fun, nonetheless and I'm so glad I own both games.

I am not a fan of antiques but this game is an exception. Very nice background music, simply storyline yet very fun, and lots of interesting fun minigames to play. The game looks short but actually pretty long. The couple in the game visits different places at random and the levels unlocked as we play further into the game. I love that we can decorate the shops, and the games although quite repetitive in method, lets us see lots of antiques and vintage items, for me as an Asian, it's very interesting. The minigames are also getting difficult as we progress. There is no skip button in this game, but Sandy, the very cute puppy, will give hints on how to solve. I buy this game using the free game coupon so this game really doesnot disappoint. Even if you are not fan of antiques like me, you will sure find this game entertaining, fun and a good break from the usual dark, spooky and tensed HOG games.
