The residents of Bitterford, Maine have fallen prey to a terrible curse. It’s up to you to unravel the series of mysterious events that led to the town’s downfall and uncover the evil that was responsible.
This is not a good game in so many respects. I played the CE on expert mode. I was warned by other reviewers not to expect too much , but was still disappointed. MCF is Madame Fate and Ravenhearst, not this dull plodding game with unimaginative and few puzzles. There is no creepy macabre overtone, in either the game or the graphics. The main form of puzzle is an odd sort of jigsaw puzzle, it is so hard to manipulate the pieces that it is more annoying than challenging to finish them. Did like the multi-room HOS, but the objects were too easy to find. The cutscenes are too long and boring. The acting is typically overdramatic awful that I have come to expect from these games that use human actors, EXCEPT for the psychic TV show host. It would have been so much better to base the game around him. There is no bonus game, your "bonus" is being able to collect morphing objects, something that is standard in other MCF games, and the usual worthless wallpapers etc. Oh, and some "behind the scenes" stuff that doesn't interest me at all. Come on MCF, go back and play Madame Fate then give us another masterpiece like that.
This is in no way as good as the Ravenhearst series or Madame Fate. Puzzles, objectives and hidden object scenes are so easy. The "actors" are awful, stereotypical to a fault in some cases. Recommend you skip this one, maybe the SE would be worth a daily deal, maybe.
Wow, there is so much in this game for a SE! Only thing it needs is more puzzles. Lots of HOS scenes to play. There is a wonderfully creepy overtone to the whole game. The plot is interesting and keeps you playing. There are thankfully no voiceovers or human actors. Graphics are macabre with some humorous twists, but quite beautiful, love the mechanical birds and tree! There is even a map to move from place to place, which many CEs don't have. Hope we see more like this!
How can a developer screw up zombies? These zombies look too alive, they aren't at all scary. The graphics aren't creepy at all, what a disappointment. Again features the repulsive little evil whatever he is, why does the detective act as tho he never saw him before? Story should be interesting, but it's slow and bland. Music is annoying as are the background noises. Control to turn off voiceovers doesn't work during "cutscenes". The monkey isn't funny, just irritating. HOS and puzzles easy and same old, same old. Why can't this developer include a map, there is so much tedious moving from one end of the game to the other. I bought this because I was bored, I think i'm more bored after finishing the game.
This game could have easily been a CE with a little more development and a bonus game. It is a generous length for a SE. The games and puzzles are pretty easy, the HOS scenes interesting. SO wonderful not to have voiceovers! The characters are a little stilted but otherwise the graphics are interesting and well done. Played on advanced mode and only a few sparkles, otherwise it was fun to figure out what to do by myself. I beta tested this game and had decided to buy it when it came out, and I'm not disappointed.
Several things keep this from gettting a top rating, and I'm referring to playing on the hardest mode: 1. The comments are too leading "I need to find a knife to cut this rope". let us figure it out, okay? 2. It seems like several plots jumbled together, the story isn't cohesive and the bonus chapter is the same. 3. The cursor and action are slow.
But the good things: 1. It is a decent length interesting HOS with varied HOS scenes. There are plenty of puzzles and a good map ( you can jump from place to place), which has the unique feature of being able to turn off "hints" ( like where to go next). 2. The female lead character is not dressed in provocative clothing nor is overly sexy (for once). 3. There are "beyond objects" to find and they aren't obvious.
If I could, it would get a 4.5! Worth the CE price!
This game isn't as good as Death at Fairing Point, for several reasons. The plot isn't as cohesive or as well developed. There are way too many "rotate and place the pieces" games and many less HOS. The bonus game is somewhat related but really should have been developed into a game of it's own. Again there is no way to turn of the lead character's overdramatic voiceovers, the puzzles are too easy, and there is a lot of leading in the black box comments. This is a bland, easy CE, not scary or violent in any way, so if you like that type of game, this is for you.
despite not being the kind of game I usually give 5 stars (the creepy macabre games) I had to give this one 5 stars as it hits all areas of a good HOG/adventure It is a generous length even for a CE. The bonus game ties in well. There are plenty of hidden object scenes and minigames, both of different types. The plot makes actually makes sense and flows well. MInor points off: I wish was there was a way to turn off voices and different levels of challenging play. No way to navigate the strategy guide except by chapter.
The title and promos suggest this is a " mysterious mind thriller" but actually it is just a straightforward and somewhat dull hidden object game. The basis for the plot is ridiculously unreasonable: the main character's father died in a fire because he was trapped in the house, but he was in a first story room with a large window, and couldn't get out? There are lots of little mistakes in the game, and the cursor is sluggish. I played the hardest mode and still had sparkles telling me where to go. Lastly, please inform the developers that MAPLE syrup comes from MAPLE trees, not pine trees. This is characteristic of the sloppiness of this game. Some of the minigames are a little different but mostly too easy and routine. The bonus game is just a continuation that should have been part of the regular game, and makes as little sense. I expected better from this developer.
I don't recommend this game.

Unfinished Tales: Illicit Love Collector's Edition
After the Raven Queen crashes her wedding, Thumbelina must save her prince to reclaim her happy ending!
The plot to the bonus game was much more interesting than the regular game, they should have switched them. The "twist" to the regular game was so obvious that it made the plot boring. Minigames and HOG were just average. So thankful that the voices could be muted because if I had had to listen to the stupid comments of the lead character I couldn't have finished the game. It seems the developers couldn't decide between making a fairy tale and a mystery game, and the result was just an average game. I'm on the fence about recommending this one, but I will due to the bonus game.
