Liked the first "the" mirror mysteries, but not so sure about this one. Nice graphics (although a bit cartoony and old school) and game play was good. I liked the "HOGs," but this type gets real old real fast. Some items were extremely hard to find and had to use a hint a couple of times. Needs more than just "find here and use there" type of HOG (FROG).
Voice over is nice, but what's with the sub-titles? I can hear that someone is laughing or a loud noise, I don't need to read it as well. Didn't care for that at all. Can't click through dialogue, which is a pain when you read faster than they speak.
This game just seemed to move very slowly and didn't make me want to run right out and buy it. I guess it is okay for a beginner, or someone who doesn't have anything better to do with their time, and that is the only reason I am recommending this game.
I got to the end of Chapter 2 when my demo ran out and still had 15 minutes of play left. I don't think I even want to spend a game credit for a game that only has another 45 minutes of play...way too short for me. Think I'm going to pass on this one today.
As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find it quite enjoyable. Thanks for the reviews.
Hmmm, not a bad game...not exceptional either. Graphics clear but nothing great, game play nice, music nice, games very easy. Like the switch between regular HOG and silhouette.
Okay, easy to figure out that you are the Mom, since you are told that in the beginning and also, the painter was surprised that you are the Mother. A little different story line, but not much. Didn't have a problem following the story line, but still a bit sketchy. Not enough voice over, e.g., one person speaks and the other you have to read...weird. There is no jump map, but this game could certainly use one.
Fast hint recovery. SG not bad, but hated where it was located. The constant up and down motion when you wanted to use the SG made me sea sick, and I don't even have that problem.
All in all, this was a nice little game and I find the need to purchase to finish, although I'm not quite sure why. Think this will go into my puddle until I make my final decision. Not sure it is worth the CE price, even if I do get an extra punch on my card.
As always try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all, or you may just "have to have it!" Thanks for the reviews.
Not a bad game, but very "old school" in graphics. Game play okay, no voice overs, no flow to the game. No explanation of what is going on, or why. Weird game. Did not keep my attention at all...in fact, I couldn't even finish the demo.
From the look of what others have said, this seems to be a very short game, so definitely a no buy for me anyway. Don't care how good a game may be, if it's short, I won't have it because it isn't worth the money.
Too bad, I was looking forward to a new game, but no such luck. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find it quite enjoyable. Thanks for the reviews.
I don't recommend this game.

The Torment of Whitewall
Only one girl has survived the mysterious attacks on Whitewall, but she's not talking… So they've called you in to end the town's terrible torment!
Well, I tried this game when it came out as a CE, but wasn't kicked out about it. Graphics were nice, game play very nice, music good. For some reason, it just didn't make me want to purchase the game as a CE. I held onto it for a while, putting it in my puddle, and decided against it. However, I replayed the SE version and found it quite enjoyable. Enough so that I used a game credit to get it.
As I said in another game review, I wish we could play the demo twice to get the feel of a game. I liked this one far more the second time around. There was a lot of running back and forth to the same area for one item, but okay. Loved the voice-overs (always a plus for me).
HOGs were easy and not difficult to find items, games simple. The only thing I didn't care for was the "sparkles" for the HOGs. They were weird and easy to miss if you weren't looking carefully. Nice hint system, refilled quickly.

I have Time Mysteries: Inheritance and The Ancient Spectres and thoroughly enjoyed them both. This one is a bit different. Graphics don't seem quite as good, although clear. Music the same, game play is very nice. The HOGS are extremely simple, but I like the ability to change to a different game if I want. SG is nice, but cryptic, not wordy and games are very simple.
Too bad we can't play a demo twice to get a real feel for the game. I'm just not sure this is CE worthy, but it is a nice game. Uncle is a real oddball to say the least. Fun jumping from time to time. Story line is the same as the other two, but unique to itself (does that make sense to anyone but me?). Looks to be a nice game length as well, but hard to tell just yet.
It didn't make me want to run out and buy the game to see what happens, but I do like it enough to buy it. Adding an SG and one more scene does not mean that much to a game, most of the time. Most games you don't even need to use the SG, just a map and/or the hint button. Anyway, it will be added to may collection. Not sure yet if I'm going to get the CE or wait for the SE.

I really liked the first 3 games in this series, but not too sure about this one. Very disappointed in the graphics...fuzzy. Game play was nice. HOGs are cluttered and some items extremely small and difficult to see. Games are very simple. Nice SG (although the print is sometimes hard to read), nice voice overs, music okay.
The "bad guy" in the mask did not scare me at all. His voice was whimpy. So what are you afraid of? I am a huge fan of EAP and this story just doesn't have the umph that it should. This game was not challenging to me and did not keep my interest, nor make me want to continue to see what happens.
This would be a nice game for a beginner, or someone who just wants to skate by in a game. I don't see that it is CE worthy, especially since it only shows 2 chapters. Not up to ERS standards by any means. I guess, when you are at the top, you can let things slide, but it doesn't take long to slide to the bottom. Come on guys, lets get back to those great games you were putting out. There aren't many games I just plain don't care for, but the only way I would buy this one is if there was a really hot special going on, but even then I would have to think twice about it.

I don't recall running cross this dev before, but I may have. Nice graphics (a bit fuzzy but passable# and game play. Music does not fit the scene and got boring very quickly. I do like the voice overs #always a plus for me), and they are done very well.
I prefer being able to choose the cursor I want to use, but this one is acceptable. The HOGs are a bit dark and some items are difficult to find, but I do like how they are set up. Also like the need to "combine" items to make something work or to get something else. Games were not difficult either.
This is not a new story, but one that I like. The game was fun. Not a huge amount of running back and forth. You would find a number of items in one location and use them in that location (I liked that).
Don't see that this is a really long game, but hard to tell because the SG stopped working after the first chapter. Even though I know the outcome of the story, I am going to purchase this one. This game did keep my attention and time went by very quickly. Not sure it is CE worthy, but figure I can't go wrong with the sale going on right now. I only graded it down because the story is not new but actually giving it a 4.75.

Wow, I can't believe this is an Elephant game! I have the other three Grim Tale games and really loved them. In fact, I have a huge number of Elephants games, as they are one of my favorite devs. What happened, did you hire a student new to the game?
Anyway, graphics were not up to the their usual excellent specs (very cartoony#, game play was good, music was odd #came in and out and had long periods of complete silence - very boring#. HOGs okay, but a bit cluttered #items not difficult to find). Games very simple. Nothing extra to find or do to keep your interest and make you want to move on to more.
Game was not challenging at all and after the first 3 games, very disappointing to say the least. This would be a nice little game for a beginner...someone who has never played any of the other Grim games, or any of the other Elephant games. I will recommend this game only for that reason. Nothing in this game made me want to continue to see what happens. It did have promise with the stone people story, but it just didn't go anywhere...no flow to the game. Sorry, no buy at the CE price and not sure I would buy it at any price. I really wanted to add this to my Grim collection too.

Yes, Vampires again...same story, different day (and year)! I ususally down grade a game because of the lack of story imagination, but this isn't bad. Nice graphics and game play. Music okay (I always turn it down and have it for a little background noise#. Nice hint system and fairly quick recovery.
HOGs simple #a bit crowded# and items easy to find items. Games simple and nothing new here either. As always, I loved the jump map and the voice overs #always a plus for me#. I also liked the fact that you could click through the voice overs #I seem to read faster than they talk). A lot of running back and forth in this game too.
Didn't care for the annoying "clicking" noise when you looked for somthing and the really annoying "squeak" when you clicked on a HOG item. Am I glad I can turn off the volume!
Not all that challenging, but something about it makes me want to purchase it. I actually enjoyed this game. Very nice SE for a change.

When your daughter, Emily, is taken over by a mysterious force, you must travel to the Nightmare Realm to search for a cure. But nothing could have prepared you for what you find there…
Wow, it's been over a year since the first game came out...long time for a sequel. I really liked the first game, but this one didn't keep me on my toes as much as the first, and not much in the way of HOGs (only saw one so far-should have more than one in two chapters#. I do agree that you really should play the first game before this one, to better understand what is happening.
Nice graphics and game play #although it did bog down in a few places, especially the SG#. Did like the fact that all of the chapters were listed in the SG, even if you couldn't open them, but do not care for SGs that turn the page for you #silly, yes, but I'd rather do it myself...maybe I'm not ready to go to the next page yet#. Games not difficult, but take a bit of thought. Finding the 36 items you need to find is a bit difficult, as they blend in quite well to the scenery and some scenes have more than one #arrrrrrgh#. This game could definitely have benefited from voice overs. Music got annoying very quickly.
All that being said, I did like this one, not love it like the first, but liked it enough to buy it and see how they save Dad #if they do). Will wait to get this one "next year," since it won't give me enough for another credit this year.
