As said before, this is no HO game, but I didn't mind. It's a good adventure game with lots to do. There are 3 game modes, voice-over, good sound. The graphics are clear. You have a journal, which I used only once. The map is not interactive and shows only part of the locations where you should go. You will have to walk a lot back and forth! It's easy to get lost. The hint system is like "there is nothing to do here", so not very useful to me. But if you can deal with all that, it's really a good game with interesting, easy puzzles. The gamelength is also good for me: it took me about 4 hours to finish.
Again a good "Mystery Trackers" game. The storyline is interesting. There are 3 game modes; I played in Advanced mode... with sparkles. - The graphics are clear. The objects in the iHOS are easy to find. - The puzzles are mostly easy. - The hint system is very good: it tells you what to do next. - There is no journal. - There is an interactive map, showing you where there are objectives... BUT... it's not complete: I had often to use the hint system, not knowing what to do next. And it happened quite often that I had a task in a location not highlighted on the map... That was quite frustrating. The fact that there is no journal and that the map isn't really correct is annoying. If I have to use the hints for most of my steps, then where is the fun? - The gamelength is good: it took me about 4 hours to finish... with the hints. All in all, a good game but I expected more of it, in view of the previous "Mystery Trackers".
The story is spooky as I like them! I played in Advanced mode, and there are no sparkles - good! - The sound is great and adds up to the atmosphere. - The graphics are crisp. The objects in the HOS are easy to find. - The puzzles are quite easy, but some of them are really challenging! - There is a journal, containing some of the clues for the puzzles. - There is no map! Why??? I can tell you: there is a looot of walking, and you really have to return to each location, since many HOS are active a number of times. This is actually how you will spend most of the game time... And you get lost easily... - The hint system is of the type "there is nothing to do here...". That doesn't help a lot, so keep walking... The end is quite abrupt; I don't know if it's different in the Collector's edition. But even with the long "trekking", I really liked this game. It took me about 5 hours, using hints and walkthrough as little as possible.
Again a nice game from TE Studio with an interesting storyline and wonderful graphics and sound. There are 3 game modes: casual, advanced and expert; I played in advanced mode. The HOS are clear. The puzzles are quite easy. There is no journal, which is ok but I missed a map: there is a looot of back and forth and you easily get lost; but the hint system is good, recharges quickly and shows you where to go. It took me 3 hours to finish, it's quite an easy game, but there is a lot to do and it's never boring!
The storyline is interesting, the graphics are nice, the puzzles are very easy, but this game is really too short; I needed 1 1/2 hours to finish! It's just frustrating, and not worth the money!
I played this game just after "Shaolin Mystery: Tale of the Jade Dragon Staff", so I cannot help but compare them. although this is not really a sequel. This game is more challenging. The graphics are not as beautiful as the first one, but still clear. There are HOS and FROS. The puzzles are quite easy, but some of them are unique. There is a journal with a task list and a map. The game is not too long; it took me 2 1/2 hours. All in all, a relaxing game with an interesting story.
I recommend this game!

Shaolin Mystery: Tale of the Jade Dragon Staff
Travel across ancient China and help Yu as she searches for the mythical Jade Dragon Staff. Save your wrongly imprisoned friend!
This is a very relaxing game. The graphics are beautiful, crisp. There is only one game mode. It has HO and FRO scenes. The puzzles are on the easy side but interesting to play. You have a task list. You interact with the characters so you know what to do next. There are 6 chapters in various locations. There is no map, but since the game is linear, you can't get lost. It took me 3 hours to finish, so for me a fair game length, worth the money. I had a good time playing it and will continue with the second "Shaolin Mystery"!
The storyline is good; I like it that you only understand what's going on near the end of the game. I played in expert mode, but it's sparkling a lot.... The graphics are very clear. The HOS and puzzles are very easy. The sound adds to the creepy atmosphere. The journal holds all notices you find but no clue. There is also a task list. There is no map, but although there is a lot of going back and forth, the hint system, which is good, will show you the way. It took me a bit more than 2 hours to finish, so for me it's rather on the short side, but all in all, it's an interesting game with nice graphics.
The storyline is good but I got frustrated quite quickly. The graphics are grainy in the HOS so objects are hard to find. There are a loooot of HOS! And there are sparkles everywhere where there is a HOS or a puzzle to solve, so there is no challenge at all.The few puzzles are very easy; the journal helps you with the clues you found. The hint system recharges quickly. There is no map and a lot of going back and forth. I needed only 2 hours to finish. All in all, it could have been a good game if.... I would only recommend it for a DD.
It's nice to have a game that is longer than the standard; it took me more than 4 hours to finish! As other reviewers said, it's more an adventure than a HO game. The storyline is good: a crazy professor making crazy experiments.... I played in expert mode, but the HOS sparkle. - The graphics are clear, the HOS are easy. - The puzzles are quite easy but interesting. - There is a good journal. But I missed a map, since there is a lot of going back and forth! - The hint system is good, it shows you where to go next, and recharges quickly. I really liked the atmosphere of the game, on this strange island. I would be happy to see a sequel! All in all, the only negative for me was the missing map, but apart from that I had a great time playing this game!
