The storyline was the best part of this game. Also, it had 16 achievements and 40 collectible cupcakes. When you completed an achievement, you were given a stamp with a picture on it that showed you completed it. The extras were your typical type of extras, most which could not be accessed unless you purchased the game or completed the game. It had 3 levels of play: casual, challenge and insane which could be changed during the game. The journal held the information that you accumulated both from people you met and things you did.
I was kinda disappointed with the game. The art work was well done in parts and in other parts looked like washed out watercolor. The animation itself reminds me of some cartoon or animated feature that I saw years ago. I became bored because the game seemed slow and plodding. The hos were simple and the games while appropriate for the scene they were in were not difficult at all. This game is definitely a you have to try before you buy.
I enjoyed playing Imperial Island-Birth of an Empire byh Quick Click Games. You have upgrades you can use, it's colorful, build the empire with your earnings and have challenges you overcome like getting rid of the whale that's eating all the fish. There are 2 levels of play, casual and timed. And 21 basic trophies which go up as you levels go up. The visual is bright and colorful and the music (which I always turn down some) was non-intrusive. Try it before you buy though.
Sophia is now queen of her people and is suddenly captured by Captain Ironhook and his mercenaries who for some reason (I only played the demo) want her to escape and go to Sunhook Spiral to free the Enchantress who can awaken her parents from their cursed slumber. As you progress, the little wizard keeps putting up enchanted vines that you have to break the spell so that you can get up to the towers.
The beauty and clarity of the series has gotten better with each one. Lush garden scenes with magnificent color in all aspects of the game. The music is definitely fitting for the fairy tale sequel.
There are three levels of play: relaxed, normal and dreadmyer. There are 15 achievements, morphing, and have no clue what glassworks is (it was not available during demo). The extras are your normal extras. The hos were a little different as they were interactive, especially the one where you press the magic mirror which changes colors and can only get the items when that color. The mini games were somewhat challenging but not enough to frustrate. The map is interactive and the hint button fills on the average. The journal keeps track of information and tasks to be completed. I loved this game and definitely recommend.
What a beautiful, crisp, clear and colorful sequel. The voiceovers were excellent but the characters did not move their mouths, which was okay. The music was classical style and was very appropriate for the game. There was so much to do and so much to see that you had to focus on what you were doing and what was needed where. The hint button told you exactly were you needed to go outside the hos which varied between lists and finding a number of items and were interactive. There were three modes of play, regular, advanced and expert. There were also a number of achievements and collectibles, but not sure what the collectibles were except the 15 bottles to open the spellbook. The extras included the strategy guide, the bonus adventure, concept art and mini games. There was no way of finding out how long as I only played the demo which showed general tips and chapter 1.
You are in current day and walk into a book shop that is displaying a book of spells. Another girl comes in and she is wearing an amulet that matches the design on the book and suddenly you are drawn back into the past. The young girl is enveloped in a black mist and becomes a dark witch and she has shut the portal to get home. You have to find the amulets to place on the book to reopen the portal. I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline and recommend this game.
I liked the game but for me to finish the demo without skipping any puzzles, listen to everyone talk (get an achievement for that), finding the steambugs (achievement and collectible), check out the extras , and didn't need or check out the strategy guide usually means at some point in time I will become bored with the game.
The story starts out with Professor Ink notifying Special Agent Evangeline Glass that he needs help to fight what is going on in Hochwald village. You have a helper, a mechanical crow, by the name of Matthew which you must repair before you can use him. The Engineer Barber has taken over the castle and the villagers have lost their freedom and must be careful what they say and do or they will be punished. Professor Ink is captured by a large robot and is taken to the castle. Evangeline must rescue him and find out what evil has taken over the village.
The storyline was the best part of the game as I enjoyed the mechanical objects that were involved. The accents were not bad, and the music was ok. Visually it was also not bad. The puzzles were too easy and the hos were fragments, repair the dollhouse to give each room what it needs or find one item to get another. There are 3 levels of play: casual, advanced and expert.
I think that the developers had a good story to start, but really needed to build on it better than they did. I would suggest this game for beginners, but not so much for intermediate or advance.
I'm not sure where to begin. The absolutely beautiful scenery in the opening scene surprised me as it just kept going and going. Once I got started, the beautiful art just kept going. It was light with beautiful colors and the music flowed over me and didn't become annoying or even sound like it was in a loop. The magical creatures were super cute and the snoopsees were all over the place to collect to open snoopedia in the extra section which told of their history.
The extras were the same as usual without any achievements, but included the sound track, concept art, wallpapers and snoopedia. The strategy guide did not follow along but as I didn't use it except to check what it had to say. I didn't realize that there were three levels until I checked the strategy guide as I couldn't access that at the beginning. It showed only 1 chapter for the demo and the helpful hints at the beginning. It has an interactive map but after teleporting it has to recharge. The hint button can be used in and out of hos without having to be recharged. There is also a bag at the right hand corner that holds information and items of interest.
The story begins with shots of your mother collapsing and you and your father and your Aunt Sheryl standing by her hospital bed as she passes away. Your father disappears into a tree with a glowing ball at the top. After Aunt Sheryl dies you are given the information that a secret has been kept from you. At your parents house, you meet Fey the Advisor who becomes your guide as you enter the magical world your parents once belonged to. It is up to you to remove the evil from this world that you father unwittingly unlocked.
This is a great game and I can hardly wait to purchase. It is obviously not for everyone, but you really need to try it whether you are advanced or a beginner.
I recommend this game!

League of Mermaids
League of Mermaids combines Match-3 gameplay with realistic physics puzzles.
Not my type of marble game. Haven't played this type before but found it kind of slow and found myself kind of bored. The music was nice and the level of challenge was good, but couldn't play it more that 20 minutes. Other people may enjoy, but not my type of match 3
This was a different and unusual game and definitely not for snake haters. I liked it but since I never finish demos before the hour, it was a lot easier than I expected (and I did not skip any games). You are out to find out what happened to your friend Helen Hunter and her collegue Joe Trask. The town seems empty, you have the creepy hotel manager, the mayor is obviously a snake creature (hisses his sss), you find Joe dead and the sheriff is missing his arm but is supposed to be getting a new one. There are snakes that have to be distracted.
There are 3 levels of play: casual, advanced and expert. There is an interactive map and not sure about hint button because I did not use it. The hos are fairly simple and do have some interactive, but nothing is hidden in shadows and are readily visible. There was a new twist called Detective Mode which you have to find items that you don't know what you are looking for and at the end it gives you the summary of the chain of events. Music fit and was not overly annoying and the voiceovers were not bad. Very cartoon like, but didn't detract from the story. Items in inventory are not complicated.
Not a bad game, storyline flowed nicely. Not sure if I will buy or not (if I do it will be with free credit). Also not sure if I recommend or not.
Deep in the heart of an enchanted forest, a forbidden love blooms. Guide the human Eveline as she sets out to rescue her beloved from the clutches of a tyrant.
The story begins with a Romeo and Juliet type love story. Two people (one werecat and one human) fall in love but families are mortal enemies. Aurelio has been wounded by a silver bullet and escapes to the Forbidden Forest where Evaline follows to find him laying on the forest floor. Her goal is to save her love.
The strategy guide was not accessible with purchasing the game and the extras were typical of the collector's editions without all the morphing, collectibles etc. You did need to collect 70 memos in the game but they mainly had to do with descriptions and some of the back story of how she came to be. The map is interactive and can jump which is a good thing because of the action being strewn all over the place. The hint button (a cute little dragon that she has tamed) is good and leads you to where you need to go, but it has a lot of hand holding. There are two levels, regular and expert. I played on regular for the demo's sake. There are also globes of light to refill the dragon if it is not charged. It was actually not bad, but as I said the hand holding was a little much and the game seemed a little sluggish in play.
In this new Grim Tales, you are called by your frantic niece who is trapped in Blackwell Hall. You rush to her aid trying to find out what has made this school so evil. As you get to the school you are attacked on the front porch by a boy who becomes a black shadow. What has happened to all the children and to the teachers who should be overseeing what is happening and what is going on with all the mirrors and the legend of Bloody Mary.
There is so much to do and so much fun. Elephant games has once again done an excellent job. To start out you have 3 levels; casual, advanced and hardcore. As always I played on casual to get a feel for the game through the demo. The extras include your normal stuff: bonus chapter, wallpapers, concept art, music and screensavers. There seem to be 10 achievements, collectible statues that have meanings of evil, and a hall of memories which have to do with the "cinema" tab. There are 7 chapters and a bonus chapter, so the game seems to have some substance to it. I did adjust all sound volumes at the beginning, so that it was more of a background rather than in my face loud. I also ended up adjusting the gamma as the game was very dark and items were difficult find. The journal included the map with the map being interactive. The hos were somewhat interactive and the mini games were not overly difficult to complete.
I thoroughly enjoyed this game and plan to add it to my collection as soon as I finish this review.
