Should have been called the Order of the Decaying Rose. I played the whole hour on casual just to see if it would "pick up", but alas it did not. Good Points: Can mute sounds, has two levels (casual and expert), mini games were standard, hint filled fairly quickly and let you know if there was nothing to do in area, journal had task list and clues, some running around but in a smaller and confined area, and music wasn't bad. Bad Points: boring, no voice over, hos were dark and hard to see, gets bogged down with a lot of hos without knowing if something has to open or close, and not a lot of "reading" to find out more about the storyline. I really wanted to like this game, but it just had too much going against it and didn't pull me into the story. It's definitely a try before buy type of game.
I was fortunate enough to play the beta game. I loved it then, I love it now. Friends 4 Games did an excellent job. The storyline was about a two sisters, one which has fallen for the false promises of the queen. Thence starts the journey to rescue Elizabeth. There are three levels of play. There are about 22 achievements. There is also the collection of 264 gold coins to be used for the care of you pet (a squirrel). There are your standard extras: gameplay, wallpapers, screensavers, music, concept art, movies, puzzles and hidden objects. The hos are interactive and fairly easy. The strategy guide includes the location of the coins (if you miss any) and is fairly well done. There was no map that I saw, but you do not go too far. The minigames were fairly easy to figure out. The game was well done overall.
I actually finished the demo which is normally surprising, but had also played demo in CE. The game is the love story of a wealthy man who becomes a pirate? and his wife. The letters, which push the story forward are very good. The music is melancholy which fits with the theme of helping Isabel find her William. The collection of the gold coins help you along the way to finding information and/or tools you will need to open the chests they are contained in. I also like how the chest in the corner of the game lets you know if you have found all the coins in the scene. The hos are different and fun and the mini games are not too difficult. The hint button worked very well and could be used for finding out where you needed to go. Also an interactive map to cut down on travel time. It had everything the collector's edition had without the extras and definitely a purchase for me with one of my credits.
The game had a good storyline and was very interesting from the start. There were a number of achievements and three different types of objects to find (letters, toys and crayons). The visual was very good, crisp and clear. The map allowed you to jump from place to place and let you know where you had things to do. There were three levels of difficulty which were casual, expert and insane and you can change levels during game. There were a lot of extras. This game has all the challenges that make it a good CE.
I was so excited to see the new game. Alawar does an awesome job on this particular series. The extras include wallpapers, concept art, cutscenes, music, mini games and puzzles. There are no achievements but there are the morphing items to be found. The hint button fills quickly and the strategy guide does not move as you do, but that's ok. No map so there is considerable moving around. There are two levels, I think. You of course must finish main game to get the bonus game and the extras. I only played the demo, but will be purchasing as soon as I finish the review. The music was well done and not annoying, as were the voice overs. A little foggy, but after all you are in the clouds and the smoke from earth is there. The characters from prior games were there as was the new character who is "not from this world". The game was easy to follow and the minigames and hos were not difficult. They were interactive. It was well done visually, vocally and play wise. Thoroughly enjoyed and recommended.
I recommend this game!

Dark Dimensions: City of Ash Collector's Edition
A dark dimension has fallen over Phoenix Hill, turning its residents into volcanic ash. Help them rise from the ashes.
I have enjoyed the other two Dark Dimensions and I enjoyed this one as well. The storyline is much like the others, helping the ones left behind after the destruction of the dark dimension. Didn't quite finish the demo due to checking out the strategy guide (doesn't move as you do#, the interactive map #it jumps#, the golden animals and the extras #normal). The visual was clear except where ash from the volcano was predominate, but the haziness fit into the story and storyline. The hos were fairly easy and the mini games were pretty standard. It was a nice way to spend an hour inside on this horribly hot and humid day.
The game was actually well done and found myself liking it more than I expected as I am not into "pirates" much. The visual quality was clear, crisp and very well done. The level of challenge was average, but I did like the quirk of the first hos of the cupboards opening and closing. The story ran a little slow, but it also maybe that I was running a little slow this morning. I totally forgot that I was doing a collector's edition, so didn't even check out the strategy guide. The hint button filled quickly and only used to try out how it worked. Finding the gold coins was fun but not as a collectible as they were needed to open the information chests. The game was fun and I enjoyed it. A definite recommend.
When I play the CE demo, I absolutely loved this game, but as it had no morphing or achievements, I wanted to wait for the SE. Went ahead and played demo for SE and glad I waited. This game is phenomenal. You know the secrets of the Secret Order because of your father. You are being chased by a new inductee who has used this to access the secret mask which he uses for evil. You have to bring the balance back between good and chaos and so begins your adventure. The visuals are clear, crisp and very well done. The voice overs and the music are well done. A little on the chatty side, but you learn more about the order of the griffin as you progress. The journal includes a map for travel and objectives. The hint and skip button fill quickly and the hint button can be used for directional help without having to be recharged until you get to that destination. The mini games are a little on the easy side, but may get harder and the hos had some items on the small side and a little more difficult to find. I didn't miss the strategy guide nor the extras that were standard type on the CE. A must buy, but check it out for yourself.
Played the demo of this game in the CE. The path was easy to follow and did not miss the strategy guide. The journal was informative and had cut scenes that could be replayed. the hint button filled quickly, but the skip button on a mini game seemed to take forever. Played the game on casual, as there were three levels. Finished the demo in 45 minutes, so not sure how long the game will actually take. It has a good storyline and enjoyed what I learned to the end of the demo. I recommend this game.
So many puzzles, so little time in 60 minutes. The variety, the quality, the fun of it all. The music got annoying, but the games were wonderful and seem to go on and on and on. I thoroughly recommend this game for the immense quantity of puzzles that you can play.
