The title of this review is a pretty good description of the game in a nutshell.
The graphics are ok, easy on the eyes. The HO scenes are ok, with items being hidden behind things. The music is repetitive and over dramatised, so that got turned off within the first few minutes. No voice overs but so much conversation to read...oh boy...if I want to read a novel, I consult my book shelf :-S. The heroine even talks to herself. You may see e.g. a car, point at it, a magnifying glas appears, you click: "I don't need a spare wheel" or "The trunk is locked". After a short while my heart sank as soon as I saw the other characters, knowing that they would talk me to the brink of death a second later.
As much as there is dialogue to read, as much I found myself clicking. Mainly, only to be told that '...don't need this now', so you have to return to these locations later, because you may need whatever is there later.
The gameplay / interface I found somewhat awkward, but I must say, that I had this experience quite often with new games, recently. Are we moving backward in time?
I really did not enjoy this demo at all even though I really wanted to play a brighter and more colourful game today and bright and colourful the scenes are.

A pretty much straight forward HOG, so if you're into lots of HO scenes this one is definitely for you. Now, this game is quite old, so don't expect it to be perfect in terms of graphics and sound. No voice overs and the hint system recharges quite slow.
I haven't come across any puzzles, but I only played about 15 minutes and forgot to quite the game after the phone rang, so I lost the rest of the demo :-S.
The storyline is ok, a countess got murdered and her husband disappeared. Your role is the one of the investigator. The locations I saw are nicely done. Had this game been released today, then I would find plenty of things to nag about :-), but due to its age, I really can't find anything wrong with it.
It being the Weekly Catch I'd buy it if I'd need one more punch to complete a punch card and at some point would play it all the way through. I always find these older games to come in very useful when I want to play something that isn't too demanding.

I started off in Regular Mode (there's also an advanced one) just to see how far I'd get, but very quickly I found myself becoming increasingly annoyed with the game stopped after arriving on the mysteries island. Make sure to skip the tutorial (this option doesn't hit you in face as it does in most games) otherwise you end up with so many pop-ups telling you what to do that you want to throw a brick into the monitor.
They used real actors and in the beginning and all looked very promising at the beginning. A professor is in trouble, because he's involved with an evil order. So he sends a gem /medallion to his closes friend with note asking to help him and to bring the medallion with her. (Why did he send it to her in the first place, when it already was where it should be?). Then off you go to what must be the gloomiest office I ever seen in my life. Hog scene was ok, the only thing I found difficult to spot was a horse that to me looked like a badly painted cow. You have to solve a couple of very easy puzzles and read some documents and maps, to find out where the island is that you need to go to. Eventually you activate some sort of hologram and the professor tells you that you need to find the island. At this point I said loudly: "What do you mean? Find it? I've just seen it on the map, it's off the coast of Scotland." Then things got blurry and there was a short but rough boat ride (a good indicator that you're the correct waters and close to Scotland ;-) ) and then the woman notices: "I don't think I'm still in London". No way, I wouldn't have guessed! ;-). The island was very dark and in one corner I could see the guy from the boat, clicked on him and at the very moment he ran off the lights came on and I could see the location, but I wasn't really interested any longer and exited.
The graphics aren't very good at all. Everything looks grainy and tired. The music reminded me off progressive / experimental rock, but is very repetitive and got to me very quickly. There are some voice overs, but mainly you read the either silly or obvious thoughts of the rescuer.
This CE comes with a strategy guide which probably nobody would ever have to consult, because this game is really so easy. You'll get wallpaper and a 'The Making of...' story. But don't think you have access to that straight away ;-). Oh no...you have to work for it and first complete the game. I don't know why some developers treat us like children: "Chores first, then the treat". I'm getting really sick of this. Apart from that, if the wallpapers look as ugly as the scenes in the game do, then who would want them? As for the "The Making of" story, I know it already: It was made BADLY!

The graphics are bad, there's not much direction for anything in this game with only one level of challenge available. After having read the rather pathetic dialogues between three characters, I already had a feeling that this may be a bad one and I was right. It has proved my experience 'bad English = bad game' to be spot on. Somebody should tell some developers that professional translators are rarely found among the rich of this world and they should think about why that may be ;-).
I never managed to get any further than the first location due to frustration. Without giving much away: I was in an office with no idea what I needed to do. So I snooped about a bit and clicked on a few things. The blinds went up :-) and when I clicked at the door it said that I'd need a key. There was absolutely nothing (no change of the cursor, no sparkle) that would point towards a HO scene. I used a hint and it pointed me back to the door. Eventually I found a HO scene by clicking at something on the desk. No idea what prompted the HO list to appear, but something on the desk did. For the HO list they have used drawings of the items that needed to get found and after finding a few of the items a click made the list disappear, never to return again. I have no idea how this happened, but nothing I tried made the list come back. At this time I was stuck and spent several minutes trying to retrieve the list, but to no avail. I gave up.
The only mystery to solve in this game, seems to be to figure out how to use the interface and I really can't be bothered doing that.
I'm very disappointed, because I really wanted to hunt down a cheat today.
I don't recommend this game.

If you like scary games than this one is for you. Omg, I have played real shockers of games but NOTHING is as scary as Chef Ramsay on the rampage for your scalp lol :-).
It's a TM / strategy game made beautifully realistic and very much like the TV show. Even though I wasn't in a real kitchen I found myself sweating. You have to seat guests, take their orders, cook the meals, serve meals, clear tables (this takes a bit of strategy as all meals for a table should be served at the same time with equal 5-star (preferably) quality. And if this alone wouldn't be stressful enough, you have to do all of this under the glaring eyes of Chef Gordon Ramsay. Mess up and you're in for a serious talking to. Do it right and he'll be "a very proud man" :-).
The game is absolutely awesome and my only criticism would be that for me it's just not long enough. I could go on playing this forever.
As a bonus you get the real recipes of the dishes you make and if you're really good, then Chef will let you unlock some extra special ones.

Probably a strategy game. I figured out that you can either play as a Yankee or Confederate, but that is about all I could figure out. So I went for Yankee, got some territory and could move my two soldiers to different areas. This I did to trumpets blasting that I would associate more with gladiators in the arena rather than the Civil War. Once my two figures stood on different areas of the map, I clicked 'ok' (or 'continue') and then the enemy did the same. Then I could see the enemy's train moving in a smaller window and some sort of hatch opened and somebody fell out. My turn again and I moved my two guys to different areas...again and the ones I stood on before had my flag on them, so I can only assume that I had conquered this territory. Then my train moved and a guy fell out of the hatch for a reason I can't fathom. I could see a ship belonging to the enemy delivering supplies. There was a 'shop' in which I could've bought something (more troops, weapons...)if I had managed to get some gold.
Eventually me and my enemy 'met' on the same plot on the map. A new scene came up and I found myself on what I think is supposed to be a battlefield. Fighting began and I quickly lost all my troops. "Why?" you may ask and all can I say is: "I haven't got the foggiest idea." But I think I can safely say it may be because there weren't any proper instructions to the game. At least I didn't come across any. I didn't even know which states of America were mine, into which I moved my two guys, let alone what sort of advantages or disadvantages any of my actions would result into.
It felt as if I played the rough idea of something that may have been a great game if it had been finished.
I suggest to give it a spin and perhaps somebody can make more sense out of it.
I can't recommend or not recommend this game, as I really don't know what this is supposed to be about.

I really like this one. It being a TM you have to be quite fast, otherwise your customers lose their patience and may not tip you or even leave your burger bar, but once I got into a system of rotating, I was ok. You start off with one type of burger in the tutorial, but that will quickly change. During the half hour I played of the demo I ended up with three different types of burgers (each created on its own work station) and each of these needed sauce, cheese or both adding, according to customers request. I also got an ice cream machine with three different flavours. Each workstation has its own employee, so you don't have to do everything yourself, but can delegate it. What I particularly liked is that you can send the finished burgers to the packing station via right click. If there's any food left over at the end of the day you can donate it to needy people by putting it into a red box that will appear for a short time. Once you made enough money you can employ additional staff during the day if you need, but that costs money.
The storyline is quite good: You fall out with your boss, because he has decided to add chemical ingredients rather than fresh ones into his burgers in order to increase his profits. This your character really doesn't like and quickly decides to leave her job and open up her own burger bar, starting off in USA, but eventually you will move on to expand world wide, in total to eight different locations. The first location has about 10 individual levels (forgot to count, sorry), but I'm not sure if the number of levels will increase in later locations.
There are upgrades available for the restaurant which will increase your customers patience or the price of your burgers. Plenty of awards to be won, e.g. for not having any left over food at the end of the day and the customers may leave extra tips on the table for your to collect.
The visual and sound quality I found really good, everything pretty easy to see. Music is ok, the customers make remarks and some are quite funny, but all can be turned down or off in the options.
Will I buy this game? "Oh yes, I will!" :-)
I really recommend to at least try it, it's a fun burger war against a sly opponent.

Loving it! I only played two levels of the demo and I already knew I must have this one. It's in the line of My Kingdom for the Princess, just a lot better. I love the MKFTP series, but Kingdom Chronicles I absolutely adore. The artwork is crisp and fun. I found the characters a lot more responsive and there's a lot more to do. The music is fun with the sound of waves in the background. I haven't counted how many levels the game has, but there seems to be plenty of hours, if not days, of fun on the horizon and I for me this will have re-play value.
I will definitely treat myself to this CE. Love all the extras the CE to offer, especially the extra game play and the build in strategy guide.

I tried the CE when it came out and wasn't impressed. Today the SE is out and I would've bought it, if in between the release of the CE and SE better games wouldn't come out. In my mind the CE for DD:Wax Beauty was substandard and by now not even the SE meets my expectations regarding storyline (sister a ghost and jealous brother standard making wax figures). The HO scenes are ok, so are the puzzles but if you don't buy this game you wouldn't miss it either. Nothing memorable and nothing that shouts: "Must have".
