I really did like this one. It's a TM in which you have to create various weathers to achieve certain goals like harvesting certain crops, producing certain materials and removing certain objects like swamps or rubble (preferably in expert time). So not much new, really, but I found the subject different. It's a nice change to the usual restaurant and shop related games.
All the tasks could have been explained better and the speech bubble of what is explained disappears rather quickly. So I found myself guessing quite a lot which resulted in me not finishing many levels in expert time. But even without having to guess I would've found it quite challenging. It requires strategy and planning.
This one will definitely go on my list of possible purchases.

Wow! When I saw this I didn't think I'd like it, but I'm now a converted Peablins fan. These creatures are so cute and your job is to make sure that they're happy by making them hold each others hands. Even though I think this game was more designed for the very young generation I have added it to my list of games to buy, because I found it really uplifting and entertaining. This game will definitely brighten up any dull day. If on the other hand I'd be looking for a game to gift to a child I'd go for this one, as I found it extremely educational for a young person in pre-school and primary school age. The number of hands of Peablins varies, some have static hands while others can rotate their hands. Not only does this require some observation and maths, but it also shows that some Peablins are more restricted than others and need a little consideration to help meeting their needs. A lonely Peablin is a very sad sight indeed and unless all Peablins are happy the game won't go to the next level. What I really do like about this game is that it is not timed. Whilst I played the one hour trial my son walked in and watching me playing he insisted on taking over. You should have heard the 'awwws'. He strongly advised me to buy this game. If not for myself than for him.

BUT...that doesn't mean it's a bad game. I just genuinely couldn't figure it out,. I played for about 30 minutes and tbh the repetitive head banger music really did get on my wig. It's like listening to Bachman Turner Overdrive, but with the vinyl being stuck. I turned it off and then found it impossible to play the play. The graphics are cartoony, which I didn't really mind because it kinda gives the whole game the feel of the 60s/70s era. I was a child/teenager in both and tbh most people I ran into back then looked a wee bit cartoon characters (heavy hair, heavy heels and in between a mix of freedom and glitter:-) ) The ones who lived in these days will know exactly what I mean :-). Totally loved the voice of the lass, a real rock-chick that had the huskiness of a Suzi Quattro before screaming on Can The Can too often...more like a Devil Gate Drive ;-)
Apart from that I found I had to grow money trees, but not let them grow to short or too tall.
I really don't have any idea, so my votes are not to slag the game off.
It indeed has has top on the challenge (still not managed to figure it out and that after the tuturial)
Three for visual and sound: Sound like described above and visual also.
Storyline: I couldn't give it anything but 'Awful' as 'Not Existent" is not on the options.
I gave it a two star because I was feeling generous.
( oh and btw: some sort of gals will try to get to some point and I think you have to stop 'em with money trees)
but I quite like it. I played nearly to the end of the 60 minute demo and thought I leave a few minutes outstanding as flag that I might it. The game is a bit surreal, somewhat in the range of Green Moon and there were moments when I had to laugh. E.g. when John as the main character describes the crime scene from which his girlfriend was kidnapped and said with the mos serious of faces: "Bats droppings were found" :-). The music, which is not intrusive, adds to the surreal feeling of the game and I really think that this one is a little gem.

Played the full 60 minutes of the trial and find myself strangely drawn to this game for three reasons:
- I like antiques and collectables - I like mysteries - I like large houses with hidden rooms
I found the graphics very clear and defined. Sometimes the objects to find are a bit on the small side, but it's not impossible to spot them. The music is relaxing and, voice overs and sound effects are good. The storyline is kinda cute: Multi Billionaire suddenly feels obliged to build lots of hidden rooms inside his mansion. Your objective is to locate these and finding the items from his antique collection he hid inside them. Apart from HOS you come across a number of puzzles, which are very well made and not too difficult nor too easy.
Sadly I got interrupted whilst playing the demo....TWICE!!! So I now can't guess the length of the game. I got in one hour to seconds away from rocket launch with two interruptions, if that's any help.
Over all the game a very nice change from witches and evil entities hiding brothers, sisters, spouses, fathers, uncles etc and I'd be gutted if some curse has lead to the guy's compulsory behaviour. So I will probably buy it either later tonight or tomorrow, not sure yet when (depends if I don't find anything even better :-) ).

Now who's brainchild is this??? I thought the worst game I've ever played couldn't be topped, but how wrong was I? The worst game I've ever played has been topped by this contraption here. I've deleted it after enduring the full 60 minutes of the trial as I couldn't proceed from the first scene. Reasons:
The items are either very tiny, very blended into the background of the colour of the surface they are placed upon on, they are not what they are supposed to be (possibly yet another translation issue?) or as in the case of the last item on the list in scene one can't be found at all :-).
I can just about cope with developers shrinking items to atom size, blending them into the colour of the background and then thinking "Oh wow! :-) What a clever bunch we are! :-)". But removing the dots from a ladybug so it can't be spotted on a curtain, which incidentally is the exactly the same red as the ladybug itself is not clever, that's taking the biscuit! The description of the items is a mix between the actual name they are known as (if you're lucky) or a silly attempt of beating about the bush. The ladybug in here was not just 'ladybug', but 'Lady of the Bug' and I have a feeling that this may be the excuse for the lack of dots ;-)? "We call it 'Lady of the Bug' thus created a new insect and can leave the dots out ;-) ". I mean who came up with this??? 'Lady of the Bug'...if they would've wanted to be REALLY clever and innovative they could've called it "Queen of a Viral Infection" or "Empress of Gastric Upheaval"
Then I was looking for something that 'floats on water', so a ship, plank of wood, duck...no idea. I found what looked like a ship or a boat, clicked on it and it was picked up. But don't think for one second that it was the floating thingy I found...Oh no way!!! I'd found something that I later couldn't read up what it was, as the word or description has been crossed out in a way that made reading it retrospectively impossible. So if you find something green that looks like a landing boat of the US Marines, be on your guard, it could be this mystery item. I had to find 5 bowler hats, which should be a relatively easy task one would think. BUT IT ISN'T IF THE BOWLER HATS AREN'T ALL BOWLER HATS, BUT ONE IS STETSON AND ANOTHER A TOP HAT AN YET ANOTHER A CAP!!! (Sorry for shouting, I was really frustrated about that). So I clicked on every hat looking object and then got the warning that random clicking would result in a fine of 10 000 points and this brings me to the hint system.
The hint system is bordering torture! You can't do without using them trust me on that, but use them and they run out and if you're flat on hints they don't just simply build back up after a while, but it will tell you that "You don't have enough points to use hints!" Remember what I said in the previous paragraph: "Random clicking will result in loss of points ;-) "
The 'something floating on water' turned out to be canoe btw, which was impossible to make out and I found by accident through random clicking, resulting in loss of points, which prevented me from using the hint system. At the last item I had left on my list, I had enough points to use a hint (no idea how I managed that) and used it. It gave me an idea in which area I could find the missing bowler hat, but no bowler hat there in fact no hat there at all. I ended with a clicking frenzy in this area and after then minutes still no bowler hat. At this stage I had run out of items to find which would've made me more points anyway, so eventually I randomly clicked all over the shop, but no bowler hat found.
I have noticed a pattern and summarizing my fidings: Points found by finding objects, points needed to use hints, items just simply aren't where the hint says they are, the last item not being anywhere to be found to go onto the next scene, can only lead to one conclusion: The game may consist of only the first scene? :-)
The graphics are...if you've ever seen one of these monochrome movies that have been remastered into technicolor you'll know what I mean.
There are a few good things about the game though:
- The music is typically 30s and of the tinny sound quality of the time. So I'm ok with that, even though I'm not really into this style of music, but well chosen. - Apart from the devs I didn't come across any clowns :-) (clowns scare me) - The best feature of the game, however, has to be the 'exit' button, but I even that I found somewhat harder to find than on any other game ;-).
Would I recommend this game? - Hmmm...I can't think of anyone who I hate enough to recommend this game to :-) So the answer is: NOPE!
Regrettably this one would've made a game that's something different and it really annoys me that's it's been made so badly. I would really suggest that the devs take this back to the drawing board it has potential, but needs a lot of work imho.
(I found it really difficult to write up review if after one hour I still found myself stuck on the first scene. So apologies for this one being more lengthy than my usual reviews)
Based on the trial (which I played in the easiest of the three available modes to see how far I would get) I really liked the game. Great graphics, soundseffects, voiceovers and they have taken the time to research the legend of the Flying Dutchman (I always like it when the devs take the time to do that). The game is spooky, music not depressing but very much in tune with the sailor/pirate theme and with the sound of the ocean, so you never really forget where you are. "After a while ya feel the salt on ya lips, harr harr harr :-)"
The HOG scenes are crisp (with all the usual caboodle of items to be found) and the instructions for the puzzles are precise. The puzzles btw are right up my street and as far as I got in the trial I didn't come across any repeats.
Would I buy it as a CE? - Nope! Would I buy it as an SE? - Yep! (Problem is that it now will take a few weeks for the SE to be released and by then I probably won't)
In any case you won't get away from having to enter the seriously spooky Flying Dutchman and her decomposing crew with the captain wanting your soul AND THAT IS FREAKINGLY SCARY!!! :-)
Oh well, I probably wait until around halloween and then treat myself to a scary late night trying to save the souls of the poor beggars on this doomed ship in hardcore mode :-).
FGT is my absolute favourite of all games with hours of fun in beautifully designed towns in which the town folks suffer from all sorts of bizarre ailments and your job is to sell them potions to cure them. You can chose your character and the beginning get some help from an impish looking character who shows you the ropes of your job. Fairy Godmother needs you to help her reclaiming her potion shops in different towns and you move on to a new one as soon as you meet the required targets. In this game you meet a variety of characters, some assist you in your quest and others try to hinder you. For every new day you need to buy ingredients to make different potions, adjust your pricing and sometimes upgrade your store, entertainment or potion maker to keep your customers happy. If they're not happy for some reason they will throw a wobbly outside of your shop. In every town you will be contacted by a character that needs your help with something and I really do advise to read the conversations in this game, they're so funny.
The graphics are amazing and the game play is pretty easy to get a hang of. I find the music in this game extremely uplifting and for me FGT has the best replay value ever. I played it at least 20 times so far.
I can recommend Fairy Godmother Tycoon whole-heartedly to anyone who is after a seriously quirky business strategy game.

I was really trying to like this game during the trial, but I just couldn't. The graphics and sound quality are excellent, but there's not much point for the excellent sound quality, if the only things you here are some wooshy noises and an extremely repetitive tune that is so depressing that you're losing your will to live. There's no voice overs. The story line: Lover went missing thanks to some evil witch (this time some winter entity), go out and find him in some iced over castle.
The HOG's are very crisp and clear, but I was more than annoyed when I was expected to find 'mouse' and 'lace', then had to use two hints only to find out that the 'mouse' was in fact a 'rat' and the 'lace' was a 'ribbon'. I'm getting really tired about these stupid errors and excuses like: "English is not our native language" really don't cut it for me any longer (it isn't mine either) and if the devs of LL:Ice Rose do call English their native language then I expect a bit more attention to detail.
The puzzles and mini games are so pathetically easy that a trained chimp could solve them. So I really don't grasp the option of choice for three different difficulties, as there is absolutely no need having to skip them.

How do HER Interactive manage to keep excelling themselves on the ND games is amazing.
As in all ND games one has to talk, walk and explore (a lot ;-) ) and solve puzzles (I find that the newer the game the more puzzles there are) and sometimes one even has to do chores, which I thoroughly enjoy. This is also the case in SSR, but they are not as repetitive as the ones in The White Wolf of Icicle Creek, for example. The game is very challenging, but not the most difficult ND I played so far. It took me about 3 days to complete and that was mainly common sense and logic, unlike The Curse of Blackmoor Manor or The Ransom of the Seven Ships in which I found myself having to think out of the box a lot. (Both of which I can also highly recommend, btw). In SSR I only had to consult a video walkthrough once and that was for the lasso game, which I found quite frustrating as in my mind my aim was spot on. So without giving too much away here a little tip: "Don't look at your aim with the lasso, but look for a perfect geometrical shape to appear, as this is your moment ;-)".
I can highly recommend this game and would advise, as I would for all ND games, to take some notes and to only consult a walkthrough as the very last option. To solve these wonderful games without or with as little help as possible is always a good boost for the self esteem.
