I'm in absolute agreement with the top reviewer who talks about these games coming out being practically done for you. There's no challenge here. You click on a puzzle piece and it turns itself without you having to think a second. It nearly completes the game for you.
I also go to my library, which is extensive, for old HOPA games for any kind of satisfaction now. And even that is problematic now because I can no longer access all of them. Anybody else here being told their library is too extensive and that's why they can't download old games they've already paid for?
I don't know what the thinking is at the top of Big Fish but I'm dismayed. I haven't deserted them yet. But for the first time I've started looking around for other sources. And it all seems so unnecessary.
I was told by a quality control guy while being an in person tester of games that HOPAs are primarily the choice of the older generation. Hope this isn't an anti-boomer movement.
I don't recommend this game.

I was so hopeful when I began this game. This series has given me so many hours of blissful challenges and I hoped for more. I felt my heart sink when my first task was to remove grime from the clasp on my bag. Same tropes from a thousand games? No, MCF, say it ain't so. But there you are, finding amulets to open things and batteries for electronics and keys for everything. I want to not be disappointed but I can't honestly say I'm not. Reviewers were very harsh on the latest League of Light game, but even though it did have a lot of HOPs, at least it afforded some challenge, something different, mini-games I hadn't seen before. I fear developers are listening to the cavils from some gamers that games are too hard, items too small or difficult to find. Isn't that what the hint is for? I'm actually sad writing this. Sigh. Compare this game to the favorite I list below.
I don't recommend this game.

I disliked this game so much, I'm not even concerned I'm in a deep minority here. Santa is married to a Real Housewife. Didn't realize the franchise had made it to the North Pole. The detective is near hysterical, so I actually found the game agitating, not fun, nor challenging. Just irritating. "Me and Santa"? Really? Developers are professionals, creating products for mass sale. Is decent grammar, especially in a "talky" game not a requirement? I resent being assailed with dumb. Or lazy. Or uncaring. Whatever it is. I couldn't even tolerate finishing the demo. Good luck, everybody else,

I want to like seasonal games but when this developer pegs together a lot of unconnected stories and tries to call it Christmas, I have to demur. I don't know what bugs me more; the lack of originality in the story line or the incredibly irritating scene changes that look like the item you've just clicked on is vomiting its innards at you. The "happy" form of jump scares just really ruins it for me and this developer does it seemingly with every single game. I think little kids without the knowledge of classic fairy telling will find this bright enough and busy enough to entertain them, without the dismay at what happened to the stories that I felt.
I don't recommend this game.

This is a pretty, unsophisticated game that left me yawning but I've been at this awhile and I look for more challenge. And more story. And more originality. I do think newer gamers might like it a lot due to its sweetness and soft challenges. The wonderful PennMom has a complete blow by blow review. There's just nothing new here. It's a no buy for me. Now, the MCF challenge Big Fish is doing? THAT is fun! Try it out, if you haven't already.

So little fanfare for this game but it's one of the best to come out for quite awhile. The graphics are reminiscent of The Lost Lands, unusual but beautiful. The voice acting is the best I've ever heard. It's not just the lyrical Scottish brogue, it's the clarity and accuracy. I'm overjoyed at the quality. The game play is sometimes a bit familiar-uncross the strings, find the sigil-but it's done in a manner that's different enough I didn't feel the creeping dread of boredom. In fact, I knew I was buying the first five minutes in. Try this one, it's a gem. And I'm so sorry somebody's crashed and burned. I hope you can get a fix.
I recommend this game!

I confess I'm baffled why people are giving positive reviews to this developer's games. They're all pretty much the same, with cartoonish colors, choppy storylines, amateurish at best graphics and animation. I get the impression they use the same game template and just change some of the artwork and throw out a new game. I'm now at the point where if I see it's this developer, I know I'm going to be bored within minutes. I don't want to slip any more newspapers under any more doors. I've done it a thousand times, and in better games with better art and better animation. This was like watching one of those terrible, cheap cartoons on Saturday morning because the good ones weren't on yet. There are really good Halloween games available on BFG. Try one of those instead. I recommend one in my current favorite.
I don't recommend this game.

I love the dark games BFG offers as a rule, especially psychological chillers. That being said, some games seem dark in a way that's not very fun and I'd put this in that category. It's pretty realistic, getting lost while hiking, and I couldn't shake the creeps, being one myself (a hiker, not a creep). Some of the game play was innovative and a bit of a challenge but several old tropes were there as well. All the rust, can openers, find the key. There is a decent effort to not rely solely on that though, so props to Eipix. I gave OK grading because I didn't really find this challenging and I really don't like mini games where the solution is so obvious, it's juvenile. The lock on the door to the ranger's station is an example. I do believe the other reviewer here is right-people will probably love this game. It's certainly not the worst we've seen lately. Just not that great IMHO. As always, give it a try. It may be your new favorite.
I don't recommend this game.

I love the Halloween genre games BFG comes out with each year. This one is a no go for me, though. It doesn't compare well with last year's offerings (heh) due to an incoherent story line and not very well executed game. I know many gamers don't require this, but I do or I'm not pulled into the game. I love a game that removes me from this plane for awhile. This game was just annoying. It has some very interesting new ideas for mini games. The HO puzzles are too easy, like an add on. The art is Dali-esque for those who are fans.
As always, try it yourself. The best part of BFG is that chance to dip in before committing. I think alot of people will like this. Just not for me.

This game looked promising-a fun premise, going searching through London's underground for criminals. Alas, a few minutes in and you realize the headache that sprang up is due to blurred graphics, sudden and blurred movement on the screen, and maybe the impending boredom. This is a definite no for me. Clearly you have to try and see if this is your cup of tea (see what I did there?) because I don't want to take anything away from other gamers. I thought it was pretty dreadful. I'm an old school Mystery Case Files gamer, so that's what I'm looking for. Difficulty, compelling storyline and excellent graphics.
I don't recommend this game.
