I know this game won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I truly liked it. I've played the first two in the series and I'm glad they have decided to make this a SE as they did the second one. I loved the animation and voice overs. The HOPS were varied, yet basically simple. The puzzles were for the most part a rehash of the second game. Simple and no need for a guide. The story was interesting, although it's been done similarly before. I still enjoyed it. I think this would be a great game for a beginner as it isn't scary and has a nice easy selection of basic puzzles and HOPS to learn from.

First off, I really enjoy this series. With that said, this one wasn't one of the better additions. First off, it was a very short game. I didn't realize that I was over half way through it when the demo ended. I really hate it when that happens. I will say that the puzzles were good (although fairly easy) and the HOPS were excellent. I liked that sometimes you had to complete a puzzle to get to the HOPS. The morphs and statues were out in plain sight, but the little puzzle pieces were nicely hidden. No big deal if you miss some of them because all you get is another screen saver. How about a mega HOP next time?? If you are going to make your audience work for something, make the prize worth it. As always, I love the ghost father and that they gave him a sense of humor this time. Overall, not bad, not great. Somewhere in the middle. Try the demo first. I would recommend this only if you have played the rest of the series so that you can continue the storyline.

I just finished this game and it was wonderful! It felt like I was part of a gothic novel or movie. It was beautiful as far as the cinematography and although others seem to feel otherwise, I thought the lip synching was pretty good. Be warned, there are no skips to the puzzles or hints for the HOPS, but you really won't need them. The puzzle also have no instructions, so you are left to your wits to figure them out. They aren't really anything you haven't seen before, but that little element of question is nice for a change. The storyline was interesting and even threw in a couple of "jump" elements that startled me. Yes, it's a little slow for some people, but think of it as a great book you have to keep reading to learn the ending. Overall, I thought it was a great game for using a token on. Give it a try.

I've always loved this series and look forward to new additions. This was by far the best (so far). Engaging storyline... even if it did reek of a "Jumanji" rip-off. But it was engaging, nevertheless. I felt bad for the villain and felt worse for the reasons behind his actions. The graphics were beautiful and colorful. The voiceovers were very well done. The characters were wonderful (especially the dragons!). I really didn't want the story to end! Luckily, it was a fairly long game that continued brilliantly with the bonus game at the end. Definitely worth the price of a CE. The HOPs were challenging, but not impossible. The puzzles were a mixed bag. Some were hard, some were VERY easy. I have to admit that I did skip one of them, as I didn't understand what I was suppose to do and the guide didn't help. Overall, a fun game with lots to do, lots of action and re-playability. I highly recommend it.

I've played and loved all the other Mortimer Beckett games and was excited to see this one had come out. I knew from the opening graphics that this was not going to be the MB I remembered. On it's own, it's a cute puzzle game. Cute animation, cute mouse to find, just... cute. But it's not the adventure story based game I had hoped for. Too much dialog! And why did they have to put in TIMED challenged levels? I hate timed games! Granted, I have never played a game like this before and that in itself is refreshing. It just wasn't what I expected. I wish I had played the demo first. Not a bad game if you can forget it's a Mortimer Beckett game. Just enjoy it for what it is and hope that the devs bring back the original MB soon.

I ended up playing this game on Dec. 24th which is the day this story takes place. It was the perfect Christmas game, and much better than Little Prince (although Oz was also good). The graphics are beautiful, the quality was excellent, the puzzles were fairly easy (although couldn't make heads or tails out of two of them, even with the SG), and the HOP were good. My only complaint is with the storyline. Seems like a quartet of god-like Elementals could have figured out a way to teach Tempest how to control her powers without abandoning her as a child on an island in the middle of nowhere. Parenting at its worst! Plus the reason Tempest's heart turned cold was pretty lame as well (besides the abandonment issues, of course). Nevertheless, I did enjoy playing this game and will replay it soon.

I'm a big fan of the MCF series and have played them all. I realize they are trying to go a new route with new characters and that's understandable after all these years. My complaint isn't really with the game itself. It's a good game with a decent storyline and puzzles that don't have you pulling your hair out to complete. My only real complaint is that if this had been a stand-alone game and not under the MCF flag, it would have rated higher with most people. They set the bar so high with the first few MCF games, I don't know whether they can ever top or even match them. I'd hate to be in the developers shoes. It's going to be a hard road to top a masterpiece like "Madam Fate". I wish them luck.

I just finished the entire game (including the bonus game) and I've got to say that I haven't enjoyed a game as much as I enjoyed this one in at least two years. Yes, it didn't have the most challenging puzzles or the hardest HOPs, but it was just plain and simple FUN! I loved the story line and the way the detective investigated the scenes. The graphics and music were very good and the story moved along like a movie. The length of the game was just right as well. I really hate spending CE money on a short game! Nothing scary (although I like the scary games too), no gore, just good story telling. I truly hope they continue this series and I look forward to playing whatever they come up with next!

Wow! Being a lover of Halloween, I couldn't wait to sink my fangs into this game! I used two game credits and bought it after playing the demo. I loved the graphics and the story was pretty good. The scares were in areas that were expected, but still fun. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the end of demo was about 3/4 of the whole game. Very disappointing! It should have gone on at least another hour. The story was there to be told and they blew it. I haven't finished the Bonus Chapter yet, but just wanted to warn the Fishes to not expect a long game. If you don't mind a short game with good graphics and story, then I recommend this game.

I usually don't write reviews and I know others have put the details of the game in their reviews already. I liked the storyline and it's always fun to deal with Saint Germaine. Quality is as good as always with this series. Even a couple of scares thrown in for good measure. My only real complaint with this game is that it's just too short! Oh, and what's up with the achievements that want you to do poorly? 400 incorrect selections in HOPS? 100 wrong applications of tools? What kind of achievement are those! There were also some really buggy HOPS where I had to clicked on a correct item several times before it was removed from the list. Come on guys! I'll recommend this one just because of the storyline and quality of the graphics. Next time, please give us more content and do away with the silly achievements.
