This is the third in this series and the first I have played. Not a fun game at all. More on the childish side than the adult side. I think the game was developed with kids in mind rather than intelligent adults. I have #2 in the series and I'm hoping it will be better. We shall see. The snide remarks and childlike characters are annoying and got on my nerves. HOGs were on the ridiculous side as were the mini games and the graphics are, again, washed out and extremely dull. The typical back and forth play is here as in most HO games but this time I became real tired of it. I don't recommend this one at all and encourage you to not waste your money.
There is nothing collectors edition about this game. I wouldn't even call it SE. There is not one redeeming value in this game other than the fact I can exit and delete it. Nothing new here at all. Same back and forth junk that is in so many HO games and the mini games are a joke. If there was a rating less than 1 star, this game would get it. Don't waste your money or credits on this one. Pay attention to the 1 and 2 star reviews and don't become enamored with the 4 and 5 star. I think they must have played a different game. I don't recommend this game at all.
When I started playing this one there was no indication that this was a game. The heroine is kidnapped and you have to save her. It isn't until you see her being put into a cage that you finally find out this is a game and only the winner will survive. The sinister perpetrator appears from time to time thanks to a glowing orb and eggs you and the others on. This is finally a game where I get to pick the gender of my character and the characters themselves are well drawn and realistic in their actions. The colors and graphics, although not glaringly colorful, are more to the cheery side than the dark side. The HOGs and mini games are challenging and fun to figure out. This is one game that I would say look at the 4 and 5 star reviews and ignore the 1 and 2 star. However, play the demo first before you buy because, who knows, this might not be your cup of tea. I recommend this one and I think you will too.
This is one of those games where you get so tired of the constant back and forth that you want to pull your hair out if I had any left to pull. I know most HO games have some of this type of play but this one went overboard. Plus the graphics are washed out and lack any real color. Somebody needs to let these developers know there are other colors besides black, blue, and gray. The only redeeming factor is the Imp. At least he adds a little comic relief. Played as much of the demo as I could hoping the play would improve but, alas, it didn't. I can't recommend this one but play the demo before you buy and decide for yourself.
This is one of those games where you are, in a sense, a casual observer but it turns out only you can solve the crime. This is a typical scenario in all, or most, of the HOGs. You seem to know everything and the local gendarmes know nothing. Oh well, time marches on. This one started slow but seemed to pick up as the demo went on. Unfortunately, it ended before I could find anything out. Story progresses nicely with the husband trying to prove his wife innocent of murder and the HOs and mini games seem to help the story along. There is a lot of back and forth, which is expected, but not to the point of being tiring. The only really bad deterrent in this game is the graphics and the characters. The colors seem washed out and don't have great detail and the characters are almost cartoon like with the way they are drawn and the weird and fake accents. They need work. This is not one of Eipix best, and I have seen and bought better, but it isn't one of their worst either. It's better than the 1 and 2 star reviews but not as good as the 4 and 5 star. I recommend it for the few out there who like this type of play but it just isn't for me. Enjoy.
Played this one for 30 minutes before I became tired of the constant back and forth finding things scenario. It's as though the developers look at a game and decide they can do the same thing but just change a few things. Cookie cutter games are not fun but put people to sleep. Voices are faked and not even close to anything real people would sound like. The graphics are colorful but not great and look washed out. HOs are not even a challenge and the mini games are below average. I do not recommend this one despite the 5 star rating. Play the demo and decide for yourself.
I like a good TM game just like the next guy but when they become boring and monotonous then I'll leave them alone. This might be an ok game for the 6 and 7 year olds but not for adults or anyone older than 6 or 7. Game play is the same over and over on every level and the only difference is you have to build more things. Might get more complicated later in the game but I became too bored to continue. Plus, no matter how hard I tried, i could not beat the clock. Some games turn out fun but this one didn't. I don't recommend it even for the TM lovers. But, try it at least. You might like it.
If this is the best they can do for a final game then I hope they don't do anymore. Only redeeming factor on this one was...oh, wait, there weren't any. Game play is childish at best and the characters are the biggest hams I have seen in a long time. Talk about over acting, these guys have it down to a science. Graphics are ok but tend to be on the washed out side but at least they aren't dark and foreboding. HOs and mini games are average with no real challenges and I just skipped some to speed up game play. I played both versions and this review pertains to both. Nothing at all special in the CE to make it worth the extra money. Unless you REALLY like HOGs I wouldn't bother with this one in either edition. No recommendation coming from this reviewer. Sorry. But play the demo anyway. This might be your cup of tea.
I've played most, if not all, the other 7 Wonders games and this one is my favorite. I'm not a big fan of match 3 games but this one has just the right combination of fun and whimsy to keep me interested. Colors are bright and the play is not hard. I expect that to change as the game progresses. It always does. Power ups come in handy when you need the and they recharge fairly quickly. One of the selling points for this one is you are able to build and decorate a village. Nice little addition along with the mini games to get the blueprints. I highly recommend this for match 3 lovers and even if you aren't, such as me, I think you'll still enjoy it. I know I did because I bought it.
This is one of those games that is not that action packed but you want to see what happens. It's a tedious game and could lean toward the boring side but it has just enough differences to keep me playing. Graphics are nice and pleasant to look at and, for once, are not dark. I'm glad to see someone has some color in their palette. The only big problem I have is with the villain. He is dressed in black but he is far from scary. He's more of a nuisance than a baddy. All in all, I enjoyed playing the demo but to the point of buying? I don't think so. Needs a little more action for me. Still, I will recommend it because it has some redeeming features.
