I really enjoyed this game but I am a big fan of Elephant Games in general. Its nice to see they mixed up the hidden object scenes, letting you use an item from your inventory to find some of the items and if you haven't gotten the item, you can return back to the scene later when you retrieve it. Made the game more challenging. The hint button worked outside of the hidden object scenes and was very helpful as I played this for a few hours each night and sometimes forgot where I was and what I was supposed to do which made the game challenging for me however if I played all the way through I would probably not have needed much help as it was very linear. I don't know much about templar, historic things so I can't say if it was accurate although it was a nice change from the find my grandpa scenarios we always see. I however, wasn't too impressed with the ending as it was overly cheesy and Im assuming it was setting up for a sequel to templar but it baffles me the detective in the game would be THAT dumb after everything she just saw. OH well. The SE ending was efficient though and did not leave you wondering what happened. It was cut and dry.
I love how elephant games does their music, changing pace and loudness depending on the severity of the scene. Makes you feel like you are starring in a good movie with the action level rising and falling. Also, the voice overs were good in this too and I liked the real life actors/actresses. Elephant games is a developer that always gets better and listens to their customers because people were starting to get bored of the same old, same old and now they have new features, new music and some new plot lines. Its nice to see a developer who keeps their customers happy unlike a few other developers I won't name. Cheers!
I LOVE this game. I love it so much that I didn't care that it had no choice of difficulty or that it didn't have voiceovers or that the hint system kind of sucked in most scenes as it stopped working when you missed a step along the way so Id be lost forever til I figured out what I didn't do but the story line was fantastic. I loved the originality of the game. Yes it had the save the souls kind of aspect but the possessed sister is a new one especially a twin sister. I enjoyed the house and all the extra rooms to explore and the length of this game is spot on. If I had bought the CE I would have been very pleased with the length and for a SE, it was great value.
I loved that despite the sparkles, I got stuck A LOT and had to use my brain to decipher what to do next. I loved that it took me days to finish this game. I loved that it had things to collect at the end so you had to go through all the hidden object scenes again to retrieve the items. I LOVE games that do that because it wraps up the story and you can see all the places you have been and where you are now. I loved that just when I thought the game was over, there was another piece to explore. I loved that everyone stayed dead and didn't come back to life like the rest of the cheesy games we see.
My only suggestion to developers is to please give us a difficulty choice as I would have loved to see a no sparkle mode but I just have a warm fuzzy spot for this game. Sad its over and can't wait to play it again someday soon. So good it makes me want to replay the first one which I loved just as much. Cheers developers for a great game!
I recommend this game!

Strange Cases: The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake
Discover the Secrets of Grey Mist Lake! FBI Agent Claire Ellery has discovered another Strange Case and she needs your help!
I seem to be the odd one out as most of these reviews are rather negative BUT I liked this game which surprised me since the other two in this series did nothing for me especially the 2nd one. I thought the music they played really made the atmosphere spooky and it was believable to some extent which really appeals to me in games. I liked the overall story and I felt like the music really kept the game together and made it interesting because it led into events like rising up and then down when it came to what you were looking for. When I demo'ed this, I thought it had too many Hidden object scenes but after playing it, it has just enough. The advanced level doesn't have sparkles anywhere so there were a lot of times I missed places to do Hidden object scenes. Also, I liked having to do something extra to find the tarot card usually by using an item from my inventory. That gave the game something new and challenging because if you didn't have the piece you couldn't advance. Also, the hint button took forever to load on advanced mode so I couldn't rely on it being there so I had to figure it out by myself AND it was reliable in hidden object scenes but really didn't help outside of them so it was a game that needed to use brain cells.
I did become stuck and had to refer to a walkthrough at one point. Turns out Im just blind haha Im not surprised I found this game interesting and others did not because I tend to not be impressed by the majority of games anymore. It really takes something quite interesting and out of the norm for me to like it so this game appealed to that.
Im not really into witches but she didn't really bother me. I was more consumed with the overall love story theme of kate and sam. (I think thats their names LOL) but then again, I am a chick and in quite a lovey dovey mood lately as my boyfriend is visiting this month from australia =) so maybe this game just hit on a good nerve =) happy gaming.
This is one of the WORST games I have ever played. I didn't have it on my wish list but got it last minute and Im kicking myself for even thinking this would be a good game. I can't believe this has so many good reviews. Lets start with the positive, I'll try hard to find it...the ghost realm was interesting. The going back and forth between worlds and hiding things was good. I like doing stuff like that, reminded me of mystery of mortlake mansion but without the cartoon graphics. Thats why I was somewhat interested in this game to begin with. So did not equal out later on.
Cons: With all the options they give you in the menu why is brightness not a factor? the ghost realm scenes were bright n lovely, able to see everything but the main scenes in the house were awful. Half the time I felt like I was playing a game in one color, blue. It had a blue gray hue the whole time and I couldn't see the objects and if it hadn't been for the magnifying glass in advanced mode, I never would have seen what I was supposed to. -This game is too short and too easy even on advanced mode. This game was so boring that i played it for an hour a couple days in a row which totalled out to a 3 hour game give or take. That is NOT a good value especially since this was originally a CE game. -The plot was all over the place. Half the time I had no idea what was going on and why this lady was even there let alone who the mirror people were. The tasks were mundane. I don't recall seeing any mini games, it was just find this, put it there in ghost realm, find it in reality. It became very repetitive throughout the game especially because the rooms all are the same color and look alike. Id come back the next day and think...didnt I do this yesterday? -It had an ending although Im not sure what happened but it set it up for a sequel. I really hope this developer does something unique and special for the 2nd one because right now Im laughing they would even create another one. -Also, the game was jerky. Even when I turned off the optimizer in the options menu, it was jerky. So the game was jerky, blurry, dark, boring, repetitive and was a ghost theme so way too overdone in my opinion. I do NOT recommend this game to anyone. Its a rip off and I can't believe it has 4 star review. Really?
Lets see. I bought this game during the sale and thank goodness because its a very short game. It had the potential to be quite scary since it had clowns and weird little characters running around an abandoned amusement park but the developers didn't put enough effort into making this theme as scary as they could have. I liked the graphics and the story line and the plot twist well maybe not a twist but when I thought the game was over it had more to go so thats a plus.
However, the cons outweighed the pros for me. There was no choice of difficulty so the sparkles were there. The sparkles only indicated hidden object scenes and directions like if you moved the cursor to go to the left the sparkles would appear but there none to alert you to other things in the game like things to pick up so that was nice. The music was recycled from Pandora's Box: The 2nd one (forget the name) but its the same developer and I feel this developers quality is kind of going down the drain. ALSO, you revisit the SAME hidden object scenes at least 3-4 times and sometimes you are looking for the same things you found before. Doing that is like busy work like when you have filing or paperwork to do but becomes boring after awhile. I kept dreading going back to the same place to find the sparkles lit up on the same place again since the scenes have no interactive element and like I said, repeat. All the mini games were rotating puzzles of some kind. At first it didn't bother me but further on it became the ones that really were hard to solve but luckily I was able to complete them randomly without skipping.
My biggest pet peeve though was the ending. I don't understand why developers put out CEs and make the bonus play the ending and leave a chopped off miserable ending for the people who can't afford the CE and have to buy the SE. Once again, it wasn't really clear who the clown was or how he got in the record or what was really going on just that it was clear there would be a sequel yet I know some valuable story line was in the bonus play. BONUS play should be a BONUS not having anything to do with the ending of a game or the story line of a game that is important to having a satisfactory ending. Doing a prologue or epilogue is fine but it should not tie in to the actual story line enough to make the people who buy the SE wondering what the heck happened.
I wasnt going to purchase this game originally but due to the sale, I needed two more games and decided this one seemed okay. And it was just okay but I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it.

There are a lot of things I liked about this game like the music really fit the atmosphere, the story line immersed me, the characters were intriguing in their own way. The hidden object scenes were clear enough for me to see all the items although I did use a hint at the end of everyone of them just to move on. The things I didn't like about this game was the abrupt ending. Im assuming the real ending was in the CE so you get this abrupt, oh ok ending instead of telling how this woman got to this place and what happened to her blah blah. I would have liked a more solid ending. The reason I found myself using the hint button a lot in the hidden object scenes was because there were SOO MANY of them. Yes its the hidden object genre but every corner Id turn there would be 2 sets of flashing lights so two hidden object scenes per area and thats just a little too much.
I think I would have enjoyed this game more if it had a difficulty option. I hated the glints everywhere basically hand holding me throughout the whole game when the game was pretty simple. I only got stuck once and the hint button tells you what to do. Whats weird is, the guy on the game display isn't really in the story that much. Its surprising to me, the sheriff didn't get put on the display cover as he appeared everywhere trying to thwart your plans. Id like to know exactly what his plans were for the town or what he was doing to begin with but like I said you don't get much of an ending in the SE version. Good thing I bought this on sale.
I recommend this game but only if its a sale or dd. It only took me 3.5 hours to complete give or take and the only reason it took that long is because of all the hidden object scenes.
I recommend this game!

Hamlet
Guide the Hero as he embarks on a mind-bending mission to save Hamlet's girlfriend from the clutches of the evil Claudius!
Stumbled upon this on my iphone but decided Id rather have it on a computer as I don't like adventure/H0Gs on the iphone screen. Too small in my opinion, prefer just arcade or word games. ANYWAYS, this game didn't get great reviews in the forums but I find it strange enough that I actually like it. Its out of the box and I like out of the box. You have to use your brain and then some! Its almost like using the illogical part of your brain. I felt stumped at first but then stopped trying so hard and looked at it the way a child would (and Im not saying its for kids) but with a very open and imaginative mind and then figured out how to play it. Its linear yes but its a puzzle and an adventure game in one. Me likey. And its on sale because of valentines. woohoo! =)
I love Vast games so I was very excited to play this but it wasn't one of their best games. I was playing on the hardest mode and the puzzles were very easy, I could finish all of them without much thought not to mention the hidden object scenes were mediocre as well. You can tell when Vast puts their heart and soul into a game e.g, Nightfall Mysteries but this one just fell flat for me. The story line was interesting at first but I was left flat at the end. I don't know if the CE filled in the blanks but I just felt like there was more to this story then I was given but as for a SE ending, this did have a proper one. It is raining in the entire game and it gets bothersome after awhile as its the only sound effect beside the music or the voiceovers. I would have enjoyed a let up on the rain at some point but there was no option to just turn off one part as the voices/music went together. All in all, I think Vast got lost somehow through out this game where it started off interesting with different characters and motives kind of like Phantasmat but then becomes rather dull instead of following through on their behalf. I only recommend this game because its a Vast game and if you aren't caught up in the plot, this could be very enjoyable for some.
I really enjoyed this game surprisingly as I am usually disappointed by most ERS games but I got this one on sale and decided to go with it since I enjoyed the demo. This is an ERS superb quality game and it saddens me that ERS is capable of this kind of genius work in their best series' but lack it in their other mediocre offerings throughout the year. This is obviously the series that made them into what they are now so they put most of the focus and game play into this one but I would love to see them use the same quality in ALL their games not just the graphics. Okay rant over.
This game was a pretty good length, took me at least 5 hours to complete it. Loved searching for the roses, you cannot complete the game without finding all of them :) I was satisfied with the SE ending although I would have liked to know if the villain was captured so Im assuming there will be yet another game in this series. I loved how it was a different mystery case from a lot of the ones we see. This is also the first ERS game in a long time that has filled my entire screen so Cheers to that! There were just the right amount of hidden object scenes for me, not too many like some of their offerings. I was very pleased with this game, surprised and hopeful maybe ERS will set a new change of pace with this game and go forward with more interesting games not just boring cookie cutter already been done themes.
And there was a new music score in this game!! Some of the same old, same old but a new track which surprised me. They really wanted to impress with this game you can tell AND there is no hint button in the main game so I got lost A LOT! It wasn't overly frustrating though and I only had to click out and consult the walkthrough once and it was my own stupidity why I didn't have the item I need so it was no big deal. (I personally love getting lost because then its an adventure) I look forward to more in this series and hopefully more creative effort set forth by the developers. Kudos!
The nightfall mysteries series is my favorite of all time. This series has an amazing plot line and if you've played the first two then you know what I am talking about. This one is no different. I have missed the evil Vansig family and am so glad they have come back into my life. I rarely buy CE's as I feel they are totally not worth the money BUT this one definitely is.
This game has 3 difficulties of play. I am playing on the hardcore level with no hints or skips and I find it challenging but not so frustrating that I want to murder someone. I am able to do all the mini games without worrying about having no skip button HOWEVER if I did want a skip button the difficulty levels are changeable throughout the game without having to start over which is a definite plus for me although I haven't used it yet but you know there is always that one puzzle that just gets you...There are also special items to be found that unlock the bonus content and it will not unlock unless you find all of them so thats rewarding and the things are not easy to find let me tell you.
The story line is just as exciting as all the rest only I wish I had refreshed my memory and played the asylum game again because I had played the opera one to death but only played the asylum one twice so I forget who Detective Thomas even is and he reappears in this game so I probably will do a refresher after.
The mansion does not disappointment and is long. Just when I think I have solved most of everything, I have to go into another room or place and it always keeps my interest. The hidden object scenes are interactive, always a plus and the items are somewhat hard to find and since I have no hints right now...makes me wish I had glasses not because its small just because I overlook the simplest of things haha
The only reason I did not give this game 5 stars is because its not wide screen on my computer. If it had been, it would have been a 5 star game but its pretty close. This game is so enjoyable to me that I have chosen to play it over spending time with my boyfriend LOL he understands my obsession so its okay but this is a definite recommendation from me.
Cheers developers!!! So glad you back on the scene! This has always been my favorite developer =)
