This was my first point and click adventure game. Instead of starting with something simple, I dove into this one couple years ago and it took me almost 3 months to finish. Had to resort to a walkthrough a couple times but I mostly could figure out what to do on my own. Before finding this game, I was an avid hidden object game player but I felt as if that genre was going downhill not just with the story lines but game play as well. I started to seek out something with more adventure and less hidden object.
I cannot say enough good things about this game. Everything was spot on and it was HARD and I LOVED it. From here I bought almost every game BFG had large file including syberia 1&2 which I highly recommend. I also played all the other Art of Murder titles and am very sad that the developers went to a hidden object genre after having tremendously good adventure games.
This is one of the only games Ive played where I was actually nervous and scared by the plot line and everything going on. I began to see myself as Nicole and when she was in danger, I was in danger and Id panic. This game had me at the edge of my chair and I recommend it to anyone who is sick of the same old hidden object games and wants a real challenge. You have to use your brain but its logical things to figure out not the same junk you see in the hidden object games. This game really got me thinking and I was deeply saddened when it was over. Its NOT 360, its a point and click adventure and I've been a member of bfg since 2007 and this hands down is the best game Ive ever purchased.
I recommend this game!

I very much enjoyed playing this game. It is one of the best pirate story games I have ever played and the graphics are amazing. I love this developer more and more with each offering and they are becoming one of my favorites even over some of the more popular developers. These developers just make really, really good games.
The best thing about this game was the storyline because it kept throughout the whole game. It didn't get sidetracked or lost along the way, wasn't longer than it should be even though the game itself is rather long. I didn't get bored and when I came back into the game, I had direction of what to do based on the storyline. I loved the story between Mary and the evil pirate, it made sense, and skull island was beautifully crafted as was the box of dubloons which explained the story further.
The standard edition was plenty enough and did end with the audience knowing the entire story with no guessing or needing a bonus game. I am kind of disappointed though that I didn't get the CE because thats how good this game was. I would have loved the see the extras included within it but I didn't miss anything by not having purchased it which is a good thing.
My only pet peeve with this game was there were too many Hidden object scenes for me. You replay the same ones a couple times, finding different items and the items you previously found do not appear BUT they repeated a little too much for my liking. I prefer more adventure than hidden object HOWEVER you can toggle a mahjongg mini game instead of the hidden object scenes and I do love mahjongg yet I still would have preferred more adventure.
All in all though this game exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to see what else this developer has in store for us.
I recommend this game!

I loved the actual game itself and if I had just bought the SE of this game, I would have given it 4.5 stars but the CE was not up to par. The actual game had beautiful graphics, an engaging plot line for the most part and I loved the new orleans theme. I would have preferred a choice of difficulty but I love this developer so I didn't mind. The hidden object scenes were a little too frequent for me and but easy so it made it okay and I didn't really dread them except in the bonus game.
The bonus game was just a bonus and had no affect on the plot if you don't buy the CE. Basically it was just a lot of hidden object scenes and the same mini game (which I HATED) 4 times. The mini game was a heart monitor and I couldn't figure it out since the directions were vague. I had 4 puzzles to figure it out and I finally got to what they wanted me to do but it was boring. I would have liked some variety. The bonus game was in a different area though and not reusing the same scenes
I had bought this back in november when mac users didn't get Escape from Ravenhurst as promised and I loved this developer so much and hadn't seen them in so long, I didn't test drive this long enough to really see what it was about. I would advise playing the entire demo, reading other reviews about the bonus game and I am so very thankful the follow up to this series is just a standard edition as I did like it more than this one and they must have realized their bonus game was not up to par in the last game.
I recommend the standard edition, not the collectors.
I don't recommend this game.

I definitely enjoyed this game especially because it has a plot line that has not been overdone. I also liked the fact it was more adventure than hidden object. It was find the silhouette type of game with the circles which I normally don't care much for but for some reason it worked with this game and I loved every bit of it. The music fit the scenes as did the voiceovers.
I LOVE how when you exit this game and come back in that it not only replays the beginning of the story but replays the intro to where you left off so it triggers your mind about what you were doing before and so on and brings you back into the story. Talk about involved.
The ending was kind of abrupt but according to other reviewers, the bonus chapter wasn't the ending, just a bonus so I guess the developers just ran out of steam or didn't know how to completely cut it. I would have liked to know what happened to Morgan or how it all tied in together but it just kind of ended. The abrupt ending is why I give this game 4 stars instead of 5.
This game took me a couple days to play and I probably put about 4 hours into it. I will replay and I do recommend.
More like this please.
I recommend this game!

This is an oldie but goodie. Its a puzzle game of sorts and it has an awesome love story entangled within it. It has a lot of dialogue between the characters but it has voiceover and the characters are interesting and attractive for cartoons LOL The plot line draws you in quick, there are lots of puzzles to solve but most aren't going to do your head in. There are also lots of items to collect and you use them to do the puzzles.
I would rate this game 5 stars because thats how much I like it BUT I just played the sequel and the sequel is pretty awful especially compared to this one even though its just picking up where this one left off and this game ends with a cliffhanger so because part 2 of this game is so bad and this one leaves you hanging it changes how I feel about this game a little. In terms of gameplay, puzzles and the plot in this game, its a slam dunk, 5 star effort. A completely out of the box game especially for games that came out when this one did but even to this day, there aren't many games that have appealed to me the way this one has and Ive replayed it many times waiting for the sequel to come out and it has great replay value because if you get 50 hint points you can play in expert and the puzzles are even harder even though I have never been able to get 50 points because Ive needed help with other things in the game.
BUT in terms of this game being a finished product, this game is not as it leaves you hanging and it left people hanging for years and then comes back with a lackluster sequel that tied up the story but killed all the things that were so great about this one so I can only give this 4 stars because even though this game is great, its ending 3+ years later is terrible so there is really no conclusion for a great game. Its such a shame.
I completely recommend this game but you have to know that the sequel may disappoint the heck out of you.
I recommend this game!

The first in this series is AWESOME and at the time it came out and even to this day, there aren't a lot of games that are like it. The first one I have replayed multiple times still unable to get into the expert round LOL You need 50 hint points to do it I think. In the first one, Hari and Delilah are attractive lol and the love story was very compelling and one of the most amazing parts of this game in my opinion because it crossed boundaries other games hadn't before in terms of the things they discussed and the fact Hari was in a towel for most the game lol
This game however was lackluster, boring and the love story had vanished. I like how they tried to put some adventure into the story but I would have preferred the same formula they did in their last one. It just made sense to the game. Also, I would have liked it if they used the same character pictures because the 2 they found to replace Hari and Delilah are awful and both of them look haggard. If this was meant to pick up where the last one left off, what happened on that plane flight?
I liked the variety of puzzles. i did hit expert mode in this game because you only need 20 hint tokens although Im not dying to replay it. The plot was all over the place. In the last one, it had a clear plot, people were after them blah blah so why when they got to her house was the plot focused on other people entirely? Why not pick up where the last one left off instead of picking up where it left off but having a whole new plot line? At the end of this I was left confused because why is she now a shape shifter? or is she? Either way, this game was short, took me maybe 3 hours and only skipped like 2 puzzles. Usually puzzle games are much longer. The first one in my opinion is a classic game and this one is just meh. I could have lived without it, thank god I had a free coupon for it.
I only recommend this game to people who want to know how the story ends but maybe you should just read a review or walkthrough...I guess I recommend it for the puzzles, its definitely not the worst game Ive ever played just compared to its prequel, its awful.
I recommend this game!

I usually only write reviews in here IF I've finished the game but I think its important I review this game anyways. When this game first came out, I absolutely HATED it. Back then I only liked Hidden Object SCENE games and this was an adventure game. That being said, I have become a huge fan of adventure games and so I decided I would take another look at this game since its more adventure, than hidden object.
If you turn off the terrible music (seriously what were these developers thinking?) since there isn't voiceovers anyways and can get over the "now loading" scenes between rooms, its actually a pretty good game for new adventure players. I would have been interested in this game if I wanted to learn how to do adventure games. The plot is kind of corny but for a first time adventure game, this game could really help someone figure out how to do them because this game is kind of a no brainer. Yes, you have to use your brains a little but the objects are pretty simple to find laying around and the assistant gives you a task list which if you click basically tells you what to do and unlike most adventure games, this one is pretty linear.
I won't be purchasing this game as I am a seasoned adventure player now BUT I definitely recommend this to people who want to start exploring adventure games. I give this 3.5 stars.
I recommend this game!

I almost bypassed this game because I thought the title was dumb but bought it in that buy 1 get 1 sale and I am sooooo glad I did. A lot of games repeat the same themes over and over again and I have been really bored with the same stories but this developer BLAM! has really come out with some unique games and I am a HUGEEE FAN after this one.
It starts as a murder mystery and as you start to learn about whats going on in the town, it becomes clear that its probably a certain person but it was a major twist involving that person and its not the usual plot twists like the devil has him or something else lame but this is a really interesting thing that happens to him that I haven't seen touched on in any other game! I also love dogs and there are some hurt ones but you save all of them including your own so its not a dark dog game.
The music was the same as in Lost Progeny that this developer released last year but it has some tweaks here and there. For right now thats ok but developers if you keep releasing a lot of new games please change up the music once in awhile so you don't become like developers I won't name. The music made this game great however because it would get louder and more mystery like in certain themes.
I played this on hardcore mode and had no skips or hints and I do that in all CE's I buy when I have access to the strategy guide. I mean why not? you have the answers if you need them but I didn't really need the extra help. The puzzles were pretty straight forward and the hidden objects scenes although interactive were easy to figure out what to do. I was able to do every puzzle without skipping it or getting help! Thats a first for me because there is always at least one that makes me pull my hair out and these puzzles were not the same old same old we always see at least not most of them.
The reason I gave this 5 stars is because this game has the BEST BONUS GAME I have ever played in a CE. It makes buying the CE worth every penny because it has an ending even in the SE although kind of short but not abrupt because it leads up to what will happen BUT the bonus game is a prequel to the game showing how the person involved in this game became and got to where he is at and what motivated him to live where he does and do the things he does in this game (don't want to give anything away, more suspenseful that way). Also, in the bonus game you get powers that a dog would use like super smell, vision in the dark and strength and you visited locations in the game that you didn't see in the game and the same locations but it was a prequel so they looked entirely different to what they did in the main game. Some serious developing went into this game! It played widescreen on my computer. No glitches. And it took me about 6+ hours to play this. The bonus alone added at least 1.5 hours if not more. And seeing the bonus game really made me love the story even more even though it wasn't a necessity to the Standard game for those who decide to wait on that one, it really made me feel for the character involved and understand exactly what happened to him and how he felt about it.
I can't wait to see what this developer has in store next. I haven't been this wow'ed by a game since Vast released their Curse of the Opera game and the prequel before it about the asylum. Those plot lines were excellent and so is this one. Do not miss out on this awesome game!!!!
I recommend this game!

This is a great game. Its fun, has voiceovers. You play as two different characters and have to figure out how to do things to proceed farther and get out of the dungeon you are being held captive in and then there's a love story that unfolds within it. When this game first came out, I loved it so much but from what I remember its rather short and I chose not to buy it full price but the fact its a daily deal today at 2.99 is AWESOME! I can't wait to finally figure out what happens in this game. I had read the walkthrough a couple years ago to get an idea but playing it will be so much better. Don't you love when games go on special that you totally forgot about but loved and waited patiently for? There are a lot of them on my list and this time I got lucky! Cheers for an excellent game!

When I first stumbled upon BFG back in 2007, this is the first game I purchased. Back then most Hidden Object Games were just scene after scene of finding items not this advanced adventure/puzzle/hidden objects like we have now. This game is what got me hooked on hidden object games. It was just the right amount of creepy. It was colorful, kept my interest and I finished it rather quickly. Its not that it was a short game but I was so immersed with it that I did not stop playing it til I was done with it. I had read a lot of reviews and most people said to start with Mystery Case Files games which are also good BUT I liked the clearness of this game on a large screen. The old mystery case files games although great, tend to have blurred graphics on my large monitor so this is the game I chose instead and it ran perfectly on my mac and is the reason I am now a game addict. It got me acquainted with BFG and I love them =)
I recommend this game!
