I actually liked this game. For those who enjoy puzzles, Patchworks offers a beautiful array of patchwork designs that become more challenging as you play on. The graphics are good, with bright colors and patterns are engaging. The music is extremely meditative and will put you in the zone very quickly. After a while, my eyelids became droopy and I confess that I found myself a little too relaxed. You have 24 designs to unlock in each level and each level are patchworks made out of different materials like glass, wood, stone, paper, fabric and metal. There are three gold stars to earn with each patchwork; completition, accuracy and time. There are two secret bonus levels to unlock at the end of the game and there is the fever round as well. You also have achievements and scores to earn. I liked the gameplay, nothing stressful and the patchworks were beautifull. I suppose if you enjoy needlework or patchwork, you will find that as you progress, designs become more intricate and pieces become smaller. A game well worth a credit to have on hand when you have nothing better to do.
I recommend this game!

Once again we have a town with children being abducted by a Puppeteer and it is up to us to save the day. Hmmmm, have we not done this before, infact several times?. This time we are a detective who is working for the Grimm Brothers Examiners and our first mission is to save the CHildren. Our lates victim is the daughter of the Silver Magician who we meet up with first. This game is your basic HOPA gameplay that pales in comparison to other of the Puppet storylines we have seen. Is it CE worthy? In my opinion, definetly not. FOr one thing, the graphics are dark and cut scenes are blurry. The music and voice-overs are good enough but there are no ambient sounds or effect. There are two modes of play and game features include a notebook and a hint that merely tells you where to go. There is no map and I soon found the backtracking annoying. Some may argue that having no map makes gameplay more challenging, I just think it is a way to prolong the game whatwith all that going back and forth. The HO scenes are not interactive which I found to be lazy. The items are small and in some cases, hard to detect. This also is a type of manipulative way to make them challenging, Again with the laziness. Puzzles are basic and we have seen them over time and time again. WHat really annoyed me were the HO scenes; Folks we are in the 1800s and what is a telephone doing amongst the list of items to find? Again, laziness! The is the odd page of MAgigrams that you needto locate and if you are playing casual, you cant miss them, they sparkel. The adventure gameplay is also very limited; for examply, you need to use the forge to unbend a doorhandle. You place it on the fire and remove it using your hand. You would think that the developers would have at least offered you some sort of tool for removal. Once again, laziness. Had this been a Standard Edition Game, I would have used a credit on it, but as a CE? My honest recommendation is to wait and save your pennies. My advice to the developers, you need to check out some of the other CE games that deal with Puppets and go back to the drawing board.
I don't recommend this game.

I get terribly homesick around this time of the year and growing up in Canada, what made Christmas so special, besides the snow, the decorations, the tree and the gifts, was the annual family trip to watch the National Ballet Company perform the Nutcracker on stage. One of my favorite Christmas stories of all time; I love the Nutcracker and I simply love this game. The storyline is an enchanting tale that follows the adventure of our Prince who has been cursed by the Rat Kind and turned into a Nutcracker. Our Nasty Villian has kidnapped the princess Mary, and it is up to our Nutcracker to save her in this fantastic HOPA game. The graphics are stunning, sharp, clear and I love the art-work. There are voice-overs and to my great delight, the music is from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. Game features three modes of gameplay and there is your notebook and your map that will allow you to jump. You are not alone on your quest to save Mary; you have the Nutcracker, the Cat and a Candle that offers their help along the way. Gameplay was not only smooth but also very entertaining. There are interactive HO scenes to play and wonderful puzzles to solve. There are dolls to collect along the way and you have achievements to earn. A game well worth the CE price Tag and a wonderful early Christmas treat for the entire family to enjoy.
I recommend this game!

An enchanting game that was well worth the original CE Price. Thumbalina's wedding is rudely interrupted when her groom to be is kidnapped by the an extremely embittered Raven Queen. Thumbalina embarks on an adventure to save her prince charming with Stunning graphics, voice-overs, a map that will allow you to jump and great HOPA game play. The CE had many achievements and 50 butterflies to collect throughout the game (alhough I am not sure if this is available in the SE version). I recommend that the CE version be considered if you want to full closure during the bonus game. Without giving anything away, the bonus does offer you a continuation of the story. These developers have always managed to produce entertaining games and this one is no exception.
I recommend this game!

It took me playing only 20 minutes of the demo trial to decide that a trip to the Dentist would have been less painful than playing this game. Where do I begin? There should be a competition amongst Fishies to see who can come up with the best 'This game is so bad..... joke. I will go first, This game is so bad, I would rather spend a day with my Mother-in-law, and she has been dead for 15 years! ' I will try to keep this review reasonably short and remain impartial and just say the following, Graphics: Bad, Sound: Bad, Story: Bad, Gameplay: Bad and if you think I am being rough, then all I can advise you is to try the demo and see for yourself. If you have never palyed a HOPA or even a HOG before, then you will find this one very easy to play as in every scene, whether you choose casual or expert, the object you are looking for twinkles. Area o f interest sparkles and what you need to be done is printed out in very large text pops up on the screen. I have heard of hand-holding before but this game just plays itself and you just follow it with the cursor. A series of questions pops up in my mind regarding the Best of Lycan, the first being, what was BFG thinking when they decided to sell this game as a CE? I am also wondering if this game was beta tested and have these developers made any other games before? Oh yes, a bit on the story, A girl called 'LUNA' must save her missing friends from an island called 'LYCAN', can we assume that this games deals with Werewolves and can this game get anymore sillier?
I don't recommend this game.

I bought and played the CE version so I cannot comment too much on the SE. I say this though, Botanica has made my top 10 favorite game for 2012. Visually the game is stunning, the graphics and sounds are brilliant and I loved the storyline. Our young heroine enters a portal to an alternate universe and finds herself on a planet called Botanica. With the help of some friends, she tries to find her way back home. SOmething like Wizard of OZ meets up with Narnia. Game features and game mechanics included collectables and achievements with unique HO scenes and great adventure and mini-games to solve. I congradulate the developers for having developed a game that has that WOW factor that we all expect. Great length and there is replay value which makes buying the CE edition worth every penny. In Botanica, you need to take your time to stop and smell the roses and take in the scenery. Seeing it here today has now made me want to go back and play it again, well done BFG.
I recommend this game!

I absolutely love the Fishdom Series and have enjoyed the many hours of Match 3 games that they have offered with each game. I especially enjoy decorating the tanks and using them as my screen saver. I am a fan and when I need to zone out after a long day, Fishdom always seems to get the job done. Fishdom 3 offers all that and much more with terrific 3D graphics, relaxed or timed game play, a variety of fish to buy, tons of decorations, awards and achievements to earn, and lets not forget, levels upon levels of Match 3 games to play, and it appears that each level gets more challenging. And if you are playing timed mode, dont dispare, there is a replay button. I have noticed that there are extra features that I quite enjoyed: earning XP points, interaction with your fish while you feed and care for them. The decorations look great and there is so much to choose from. You can also choose change the backgrounds and the tanks as you earn more money. Definitely a game that promises to keep me hooked for sometime. Ofcourse I do ask myself why this is a CE whereas all previous Fishdom games were sold as SE games. Is it really worth the extra pennies? Well if you are a fan of Match 3 games and you do love the Fishdom series, I suppose like me you will find the temptation too great not to let this one pass by. I do love the 3D graphics and who could resist Tina the urtle as your tutor and the fact that you get to name each fish and own your very own Fishipedia. Fishdom is fun, for all ages and I think a welcomed edition to my collection of Fishdome games. To all fishies everywhere, Happy Thanksgiving!
I recommend this game!

I was a huge fan of Murder She Wrote years ago when Television had its golden era of great crime drama. I also enjoyed the first installment when it came out at BFG. This one however did not thrill me and sadly I found the game mechanics a bit rudimentary. A straighforward IHOG with graphics that are sharp but a bit dated. The artwork was good as were the voice-overs. The hint system was insufficient; you can collect typewriter keys to get extra hints. There is alot of needless backtracking for one inventory item and the HO scenes were junk-piled with no interaction. The only feature >I found compelling was the storyline and perhaps if I had a club award or game credit on hand, I may consider buying this. I suppose if you are a huge fan of Jessica Flethcher and her mysteries, this may appeal to you but the game does lack a fun factor to it.
I don't recommend this game.

I can't believe a year has gone by and finally , just in time for my birthday, the new MCF game has arrived! After playing 30 minutes of the demo, I realise that the folks at MCF have come up with new game features and really upped the ante on Visuals and Sounds; no surprise there. Live actors who really act, stunning graphics, great sound effects and voice-overs. The storyline is creepy and enganging which I love. Detective out to investigate a cursed town and also assist Cassandra, the famous Psychic Detective. Lots of spooyeffects and startling moments. Are there somethings I would have changed? definitely! For one; what is up with that SG? It did put me off and I am not quite sure that I am liking it. The HO scenes are a bit bizarre and took a while to get use to. According to rumours, there are morphing objects but I have yet to spot one during the trial, therefore it will be a chanllenge to find them. There are puzzles and mini-games which are basic, not too hard but cleverly designed. Where are the achievment? That is a major disappointment because I love the achivements in MCF games. ALso the extras are locked which also has miffed me a bit. I can go on and on about what I liked or didin't. And I can imagine that there will be great discussions on this game in the days to come. However all I can say is; its MCF so obviously it is going to be a fantastic ride no matter what. During the demo, there are things that I loved and some game mechanics that took me time to get use to. So far from what I played, I dont think that this will be my favorite of all the MCF games, (my number one favorite is Return to Ravenhearst which in my opinion is one of the best games out there) but I am very much impressed with some of the technical features and the visuals in this game and am very anxious to see where this adventure will take me. Bravo to the MCF gang for something completely new and thank you BFG for starting our week with this surprise.
I recommend this game!

I am rather conflicted about this game and I suppose it starts of with the subject matter. Althought the Kennedy assasiation has always been an intriguing mystery that still remains unsolved, I find it rather macabre that it should be part of a game. However we have played games that deal with deaths of famous people, however I do find seeing Kennedy being portrayed here as a ghost quite unsettling. But that is just me being over sensitive. The game itself is not bad, although the graphics looked outdated and the silence was bothersome. The game looked old and rather tired looking. There are no voice-overs (hence the silence) and you have two game modes to choose from. Game features a journal along with a map that allows you to jump and does indicate where there are tasks that need to be done. Actually the map was a great deal of help as I found that there are many areas to investigate. Game mechanics are your standard HOPA where you need to investigate and pick up inventory items to use. There are junk-piled HO scenes that have no interaction and a series of mini-games which we have seen before but suprisingly there was a level of difficulty in some of them which made the game slightly more challenging. There is an interesting storyline that still I haven't figured out even after an hour of game-play. Is our Heroine in a constant dream-state? or is she truly able to jump through time portals and who is that mysterious hooded man that is following her? and what clues does the pink teddy bear hold?. But the most important question I do have is what do they all have to do with Kennedy's murder? It seems I will have to continue playing if I want answers and thank God I do have some game credits on hand to spare. There is a strong nastolgic feeling about the game and it really looks like it has come to us via a time machine. Gameplay does become a bit tedious after a while, however ike I said, I find that I personally am intrigued at the story and will recommend it for those who enjoy history and mystery thrown into an average HOPA game. However, it seems that we will continue to remain in the dark regarding who shot Kennedy.
I recommend this game!
