I no longer buy Modern Art but still check out the demoes. The adorable kitten with great shading and texture, and the mountain scene saved the first level from being a total disappointment. The camera was ugly and I hated painting it. I finished the entire level so easily. It was like having a magic wand, "Abracadabra", it's done! Absolutely no challenge, even in the most complex images. Modern Art still has too much fruit, too many boring images. I find no fun in painting a camera, suitcase, desk globe, pocket watch, car or locomotive. They, in my opinion, don't qualify as pieces of art.
There is still the over-use of dark colors. So many blacks, browns, greys and dark murky greens. I agree that they are natural, unlike in other paint games but they aren't adding much beauty. Brown skies, off-colored flowers and fruit, black and murky green landscapes just aren't appealing to me. Beyond the first level I did find some beautiful images but again I have an issue with the palette. I painted one from each level and found very few bright, lovely colors. Hopefully, this will change in future. We need them to bring more life to the paintings and to add more interest. I always love the textures.
The minimal features are still present. I really like the color wheel for changing the background and numbered areas. The Hint is handy-dandy and no recharge time is involved. Zooming, too, is very helpful if you don't like painting by sweeping your mouse over the entire area to catch all the teensy numbered spots. The game always runs without any snags and the pictures can all be done over and over again.
It's actually a lovely game for anyone who loves this art style and doesn't mind the colors as much as I do. It is very relaxing and as they say, "no fuss, no muss" is always a good thing. We all have different entertainment tastes but mine aren't met in Modern Art. Just a few changes could make it so much more appealing. It can be enjoyed by all ages. Guaranteed to remove some stress from a tiresome day!
I recommend this game!

I keep checking the demoes and still nothing to justify purchasing anything from this dev. I'm always hopeful that I can place a positive review but, again, looks like today is not the day. I think it's definitely time to change the title to what it really is! 500 Jigsaw. Right there, IMO, shows just how lazy the dev is, when this change should've been made years ago.
There are 500 categorized, unappealing puzzles. Just another unimpressive collection to add to the pile from this developer. Whoever the photographers are, they do not have an eye for beauty and the results are a poor example of all the possibilities out there for beautiful, interesting pictures. Here we see the usual food, buildings, poorly lighted landscapes, unprofessional "models", staged scenes, etc. Of the very few animal shots, the only interesting one, to me, was that of an iguana's eye. How pathetic is that?
There are the same minimal features, same washed-out background colors, same modification options. Sorting still creates a tedious job of picking through the layers to find a useable piece. Unless you just enjoy the extra challenge of all the scattered pieces, the border feature makes getting started much easier. There are various puzzle sizes, but the more pieces you choose, the smaller they are. They can be so small that assembly becomes more of a chore than pleasure. For my eyes it is a strain and the magnifier is definitely necessary.
We have several extremely fine jigsaw devs here at BFG. The images, features, options are superb. Our latest offering is at the top of the tops. I don't understand why 1001 Jigsaw prefers to remain on the bottom of the barrel. Doesn't make sense that it could be such a profitable decision. As for me, I'm supporting the devs who are not lazy, who embrace change and care about quality and customer satisfaction.
You might be very pleased with 1001 Jigsaw Detective. Jigsaws are fun, this collection will likely appeal to those who are just looking for some basic puzzles to relax with. I gave the demo a gallant try but, once more, came away disappointed. Hopefully, it will be a good purchase for you.
I recommend this game!

It chased my mosaic blues away! This is such a welcomed relief from the other mosaics at BFG. It has all the goodies that I think we all desire in a mosaic. I love everything about it and still enjoy their first release, also exquisite. We have quite a lot in this genre now, but this really out-shines them all.
Great features, good power-ups, 3 play modes, 6 tile choices and it doesn't stop there. Hidden crystals help to restore the beautiful wallpaper scenes, colors are bright and appropriate, graphics are excellent. There are over 120 levels which include mini games and a story about saving 2 fantasy worlds from destruction. The music is very nice.
The levels are a mix of simple and challenging. I think the challenge is perfect as the game progresses, as it doesn't make any of the grids impossible to complete. But I always have a somewhat exhausting amount of replays to deal with, no matter what. It's so much fun, it's relaxing, and the challenge keeps it from becoming boring.
Daydream Mosaics 2 is my kind of mosaic entertainment. I especially appreciate this series. It is quality all the way, has excellent replay value and it is not a CE. We get an outstanding game that easy on the budget.
I recommend this game!

Just because a game comes from Domini it isn't automatically a great game. And Domini has not provided more game for the $$ in a very long time. They crank out the games just like the rest of the developers, with weak storylines, similar HOPs and puzzles, and non-challenging adventure. Everything is fantasy. There is rarely a game really aimed at the adults. I think we have enough fairy tales at Big Fish to last a lifetime! Something more realistic, more than just once in a blue moon would be much appreciated.
I plunked along, as always, to get from Point A to Point B looking for lost, broken or buried items, hoping to escape the tedious tasks and finally reach the action before the demo ends. More of the adventure should be featured in the demo, the tasks and puzzles take up too much time.
The CE means little to me anymore, the same content every time. Find 15 of this, 15 of that, 70 of something to cash in for decorations. Absolutely no challenge. I do enjoy earning achievements and trying out the various play modes. Each difficulty level provides just enough difference to test your skills without all of the hand-holding. Overall, I find Domini games very easy to play.
The HOPs were of the usual variety and the good interactivity always made them enjoyable, but not outstanding or very challenging. Most of the puzzles can be played in Easy or Hard Mode. I don't like puzzles but these seemed more than the usual "okay", so I didn't skip any in the demo.
The graphics are excellent and the scenes/locations are very beautiful. I was able to overlook Domini's choice of colors. Lots of interesting little things typically associated with fairies were fun to just look at. I really enjoyed the visuals. The characters were done very well, the voices were so-so, I loved the fairy attire, nice creative design and their colors were beautiful.
I love fairies and the magical tales that flow down through the generations. The story here is about helping the fairy-folk protect their realm from a big, bad creep who is out to destroy everything dear to them. Hopefully the story is solid and doesn't end abruptly without proper closure. It's an interesting one with a glimpse into a secret fairy world and as in other Domini adventures we are up against another meanie with evil intentions and we come along to save the day.
Hopefully this game is entertaining with a nice long adventure through the enchanted woods to help the wee ones win their battle. If Domini is still in that familiar rut they created, it will take more than fairy magic to save it from becoming boring like all the rest. I won't purchase the CE but I'm interested enough to pick up the SE with a good sale. Seems suitable for all ages, no horrific monsters to deal with and fairies are a delightful escape from reality for many fantasy fans.
I recommend this game!

Take Pennmom's word for it, Pixel Art is a drag! It's a shame that the devs seem completely oblivious to the shortcomings of this game or just don't care. In the beginning it was different, fun, appealing to the artist in us all. Now it's just boring and old fashioned because no attempt is made to bring it up to date.
Features and options have always been minimal. After all this time the colors and images are still unappealing. The completed pictures are too small and too blurry to "show-off" all the work you put into it. The numbered pixels are shaded with various dark greys to make them "stand out". But quite the contrary, finding them becomes a long, tedious process.
Even though there's a huge array of colors, they don't bring the images to life. They are flat and usually too many monotones, darks or pales. Not enough bright, vibrant or rich colors to make the images a fun project. The subject matter leaves a lot to be desired. This time they seem to have gotten worse. The typical variety includes very simple, ugly, boring, complex, landscapes, very juvenile, fruit and food groups, an occasional critter. Take your pick! They are all unappealing no matter which colors or how many are used.
New features and options, better colors and images are definitely needed. If the dev doesn't care about improving their product, I find it hard to care about supporting them. I want my $$ to be well spent so I have found a great deal of fun and satisfaction in one of their competitors. Others will be surfacing too as the popularity of this genre grows.
I no longer purchase Pixel Art, stopping at Number 10. I do, however, keep checking the demoes hoping to find something new. Looks like that will just never happen. My opinion may be very different from other "artists". For me it just isn't creative enough, nor is it a rewarding experience when I see the little, blurry pic at the end to show for my time and effort.
I don't recommend this game.

Cute game! The witch isn't scary, just mean and Anna has to defeat her. The graphics are nice and sharp, typical storybook colors. Scenes are really cute, interesting things everywhere. A nicely done animated storybook adventure. I think it will be fun for children with help from Mom or Dad.
There's a lot of written dialogue, nice big letters. A necessary read as it leads you through the story. Anna's cat, Tail, is her best buddy and protector, and plays a key role in the adventure. He's in danger right from the beginning.
The items needed for each task are small, indistinct and well blended into the surroundings. The hint, when clicked, appears as a little magic flick from Anna's hand that locates the item. The hint feature is a 5-petal flower. When used, the blue petals disappear and the flower recharges one petal at a time. They reappear here and there, not just in the current scene. So lots of back and forth for both hints and the gameplay. I don't especially like it. I used the hint often!
The tutorial remains in lower right of screen. There are 20 mini games and 15 achievements. There are no special options or extras in this CE from what I could see. The one game I played was a ball in maze, it was fun. When the bar fills with green, you can skip. Doesn't take long but I prefer quicker access. I saw puzzle pieces all over the place but evidently the time hadn't arrived for them to be collected or maybe I somehow missed it. I have no idea what the bonus chapter is about.
The demo ran with no glitches, but the pace was slow due to all the little things I had to find. Revisiting scenes to collect them all was a little tedious and became slightly annoying. However, I survived to the end of the demo. Pennmom will have to take it from here. She's much better at super-detailing in her reviews. but hopefully my in-put helps a little bit.
I wish the demo was less tasks and more game, but I did enjoy it for the most part. A sweet story that is family friendly and written with love is a very good thing!
I recommend this game!

This one is bigger, better and more beautiful than Puzzle Pieces 4 and that one was amazing! Everything about this new collection is stellar. The variety of images is just wonderful, brimming with mystical, magical, dreamy images and the colors are scrumptious. No crazy neons. Just beautiful color.
Top features such as using our own images, saving our completed puzzles and using them as wallpapers are among the fun options that make this a perfect puzzle package. The 7 chapters with 250 levels will last forever. Great replay value, too, as each puzzle can be assembled in different sizes.
When I discovered Jigsaws Galore many moons ago, I thought I was in puzzle Heaven, but Puzzle Pieces takes me to higher altitudes of fun and relaxation. Quality to the max!! Many thanks to this wonderful dev who has a definite flair for creativity and beauty, and focuses on customer satisfaction.
I recommend this game!

offering a refreshing change from the typical hidden object game. At first the objects practically jump out at you but the challenge increases as the game progresses. There are a variety of HO styles which add more interest to the game. I was glad to find it more fun than I expected.
There is a 3 star goal, a different objective for each level/mission and 2 emeralds are awarded for your success. Your pre-determined number of points are part of the objective and if you succeed are posted on a leaderboard with 5 fake components. There are 4 boosters, each unlock at a different level and more of each can be purchased, prices not sky high.
The combos required for each objective are not so easy to accomplish. The graphics are not great and the dark colors of the backgrounds make it difficult. The replay option will be used for sure through the entire game. All levels can be replayed to better your score. No special options, the written dialogue isn't extremely lengthy and shouldn't be ignored as it contains instructions. You can access a board that shows your accumulated achievements. The earned emeralds are displayed at top of screen.
I'm sure someone can describe the game much better than me. The demo moved along at a good pace allowing for a good sampling of the game. It has enough levels to make it a long one if the objectives continue to present adequate challenge. I did enjoy the demo, hope you do as well.
I recommend this game!

I may very well be in the minority here but this is truly a low quality game. In my opinion it has no entertainment value at all and the graphics are horrible.
The rave reviews and awards shown in the synopsis have me absolutely scratching my head! Can they actually be describing THIS game? I just don't get it. Maybe I was around the corner when the brains were passed out, but for the life of me I don't see how all those statements can be true!
Don't pass up the demo, you may regret it. On the other hand this may be that unique little cup of tea you've been searching for. I, for one, am really disappointed in Big Fish these days.
I don't recommend this game.

Another demo full of disappointment as it mirrors all the other games by 8 Floor and Somer. They never do us any favors, presenting the same game over and over again. If you have played or own any of their other solitaires you can by-pass this one, because you have already been there!
I don't like having to play the entire Newbie in order to unlock the Pro Mode and I don't care for replay options. The entire game should be open without restrictions. There were so many Gold Cards in the first level, they were hard to avoid. I did manage to work around them and with only one remaining I was able to clear the board. However, that won't always happen as the game progresses. We all know how that Gold Card thing works, ending the game prematurely, preventing us from using our own skills to win that perfect score.
The 9 card backs were very colorful, some interesting designs. The 3 fronts were the usual "plain Jane". Graphics were pretty good, backgrounds changed with the levels but they didn't reflect much of the fairytale theme. The Shop still has the same 3 purchases which I think are over-priced and add nothing special to the gameplay. More choices are definitely needed to increase the fun. Minimal is always the keyword in the solitaires from these devs. I didn't experience any glitches. Usually, if any are present, they show up fairly soon.
It's been apparent for ages that nothing ever motivates these devs to make any improvements to their games. When they continually ignore the feedback from the reviewers disaster is usually the outcome, for US, not for them. They keep raking in the $$ from players who don't mind the inadequate quality and from new ones who haven't caught on yet.
We don't seem to matter in the grand scheme of things. So along as Big Fish lets them in, someone is going to be buying a whole lot of nothing, in my opinion. I would rather support the developers who regard the opinions of the reviewers and care enough to make some changes if necessary. Give the demo a try, you might have a much better experience than me and find the fun you are looking for.
I don't recommend this game.
