A lovely game about Anna and her devoted cat named Tail. The queen is determined to steal Anna's magic to create a world of darkness. Anna and Tail will not let that happen! The good vs evil storyline takes them into a realm of enchantment on their quest to defeat the queen before she can destroy the beauty and peace of the world around her.
It's an adventure filled with love and hope and humor. The characters and locations are very colorful and each scene is full of things to examine while looking for the items you need. The objects are very small and well hidden so the challenge is definitely there. There were also numerous puzzle pieces scattered about, they were not obvious. I don't know if they will be included in the SE.
The graphics are so beautiful and the colors are wonderfully suited to this storybook tale. It was fun just looking at everything along the way. The game is pretty basic with no hand-holding to quickly come to the rescue. The Hint feature is a 5-petal flower, when used the petals scatter and have to be found in order to recharge the Hint. They end up in several of the locations so you will be dealing with lots of back and forth which many of us don't like. But it really didn't seem tedious in this game. I had no trouble finding the petals, they sparkle a little, making them easy to spot.
The game was slow for me, only because the items were small and I was pretty much on my own with minimal assistance. Hovering your mouse over an item can provide clues other than the Hint. I just had to learn the ins and outs as I progressed but it wasn't difficult to catch on. I really love that this game is one that an adult can enjoy. I felt that a child might struggle without help from a parent. It's a very cute story with lots of cute visuals, but more suited for adults, especially with the challenge and minimal help. I absolutely loved it.
I purchased the CE knowing I should have waited for the SE. There's no strategy guide and collectibles are the puzzle pieces. So that means that the SE will be perfectly fine, all the fun still in tact. Adventure games are sometimes hard to navigate, at least for me. But this one isn't complex. Posed no problems, no frustration, no boredom. Just a sweet story made for Anna with lots of love. It's a little different than most and may not appeal to all who love adventure games. A good idea to check out the demo for this one. Hope you enjoy!
I recommend this game!

They all have the French names but where are the accents. I guess the Americans are running the show and the Fair! How much trouble can it be to hire a voice actor to do the job right?? This isn't a big deal to most people probably, but a little authenticity would be nice! Agatha doesn't have to do much head scratching to figure things out. All the deductions are presented in the notes and she makes her own notes, comes to the same conclusions and is credited as being a fine detective. I didn't have to fiddle with lots of menial tasks to get to more characters like in other games. This time I finally made contact before the demo ended!
The graphics were clear but the surroundings were dark, colors were dull. But the ghostly events happened at night, so the scenes were appropriate I guess. The characters were nothing notable except for the fact that they were definitely not French. The voices didn't express much emotion, they sounded like the dialogue was being read, no "acting" involved. The costumes were well designed, indicative of that era, for the most part. The indoor scenes were of no particular interest, very little to search while collecting the list items.
The game was very easy and sparkles would appear on items if I didn't find them immediately in Casual or Custom Play. I did not like that. I tried several play modes and found less of that happening, but the game was still too easy. I wasn't able to find out ahead of time how many HOPs and puzzles to expect or how many collectibles or morphs. The collectible notes were a cinch but the morphing objects were very small and hard to spot in the dark surroundings. The indicator tab to keep track of them was very helpful. There was also a pop-out tab for the achievements.
The ghosts weren't scary at all. Just a cartoonish rendition of floating, faceless apparitions frightening folks that were out and about for the Fair's festivities. Tesla was swooped away, out of his workplace when lightning and the not-so-menacing ghosts suddenly appeared and tore the place apart. Devs really need to step up the scary effects. I'm sure the artists are talented enough to pull it off. Why don't they? Remember the frights and ghostly sights from the great games of yester-year?
This game had no Halloween anything about it. I found little of interest in regards to mystery and excitement. It seemed like just another typical detective game. It didn't make sense to have a Paris setting when the Eiffel Tower was the only French representation I could pick out of it. Maybe there is more, beyond the demo. The music was okay, no glitches. The map and journal were good but in the demo I really didn't need them. In the locations, our next "destination" is indicated by an area turning orange which eliminated some of the guesswork. I played several HOPs and puzzles in the demo. I didn't care for the HOPs because they were ridiculously easy. Puzzles were fun but even in Hard Mode the challenge was minimal.
I am not likely to purchase "Dark City: Paris" as it provides little of the kind of entertainment I enjoy. It surely will appeal to many who are fans of this series and were anxious for a new arrival. It's an easy, relaxed game for any age and skill level. No frightening monsters. The storyline is not the greatest but it will do for this type of detective game. Everyone has different tastes, hopefully you will love this new Dark City adventure.

I was defeated right from the beginning! The instructions were confusing even though they looked simple! After entering the first portal and continuing with my next move, I was dead in the water. That quickly! After 25 minutes of back and forth, I found no possible way to further progress. It made me feel very stupid and very frustrated!
I am very acquainted with logic puzzles, have loved them for years on my tablet. But this one presented a challenge that stopped me cold! And I don't have the patience I know it will take to navigate through this game. As a Brain Teaser, it teased mine way too much! The game really caught my attention with the synopsis video and it looked much simpler than it actually is.
Puzzle experts out there will likely have a blast with this unique game. I wish I could join in the fun. With 96 levels there's no telling how long the game could be because each play requires so much thought, back and forth and replay. I loved its clean look, the choice of background colors and the music. We've been asking for something new, a break from all the easy-peasy stuff. This certainly is it.
I rated only 2 stars, but I recommend the game to those who know what they're doing with this type of logic puzzle.

Being familiar with Claws and Feathers I kind of knew what to expect. I was frustrated at my inability to move along and make steady progress and I can see that this game will have me stymied, too. But, the fun outweighs the frustration. I love the tiles, the colors and graphics and had to buy after the demo.
Catana is very challenging and strategy plays a big part in your ability to progress. Thankfully there are no time limits. There are 3 play modes, each one giving you a different number of lives. I've been trying them all but find that Easy Mode works best for me. You can replay the levels to restore the lives that were lost so that leaves me feeling less flustered.
The obstacles are fun but also kind of hard for me to defeat. The power-ups are very helpful, I especially like the Circle of Blades because it gets me out of a jam (which is unavoidable) by clearing away 9 tiles. Catana really likes chopping up those veggies but he doesn't stop there. He's after the treats as well.
The 110 levels make this a long game when you consider the challenge and time it takes to figure out your next move. This game may not appeal to everyone but once you catch on, it really is entertaining. I am so tired of all the too-easy games with the same format. Catana is refreshing. If you've played Claws and Feathers, you're off to a good start. A little patience goes a long way when learning this cute, unique game.
Definitely try the demo. If you don't like veggies, this is a fun revenge without the mess!! And it's Bonus Punch Day!
I recommend this game!

An adorable game full of pups to go along with "I Love Finding Cats". Such a pleasant game for all of us pet lovers, to kick off a new day. The graphics are clear and colorful, some items are pretty small but with the nice graphics it doesn't take oodles of time to spot them. All the levels can be replayed.
The hidden items and critters are well blended into the scenes and really not that easy to find. The magnifier served me well a few times and there's also a great double zoom feature. I played a few games in the demo and spot the difference was my fave, as usual. It was a bit challenging and I like that. The puzzles were pretty easy but they were fun.
We're able to go back and forth to a second locati9on in our search for the list items. There is no misclick penalty or timer to fluster us, so that makes the game even more relaxing. I didn't rack up a great abundance of points on several levels because I used the hint a few times. However, I did earn extra points for quickly finding items consecutively. And of course I always am striving for that Gold Star.
I had a good time with the demo and I really am inclined to purchase the CE because it gives us more sweet doggies to brighten our day. My budget just can't swing it right now, but I'm content to wait for a good sale rather than go for the SE. If you enjoyed "I Love Finding Cats", this one is just as delightful and provides hours of fun, especially with the replay value.
I recommend this game!

This cannot possibly be one of Domini's best of this year. Not every game can be the greatest, not every Domini game is a 5 star. I was hoping for a decent story to help kick off the Halloween season, but this wasn't it. It was based on another board game gone awry with the players zapped away into a place filled with monsters. The demo did not introduce me to any, other than Samantha's "kidnapper".
Samantha's voice was really annoying. They could at least hire a teen for the part. And she looked like a 20-something with braids, instead of a teenager. The other voices weren't very good either. When Samantha disappeared I felt a little relief! The villain in the demo wasn't scary at all, just goofy looking. Hopefully the others will look more convincing as monsters. The cartoonish art style went overboard, IMO.
The demo was nothing more than collecting, collecting, collecting. I didn't enjoy it and just wanted to be done with it and head into monster land. There were too many things floating around. The younger players would probably be attracted to the busy background. The visuals were a mishmash of cartoony Halloween-related items floating everywhere. A confused mixture of everything imaginable.
Not much to say about the extras in this flimsy CE. Lots and lots of notes, the usual 15 of this and that. This time 66 coins will purchase items for the Armory. All were easy to locate, the morphs were very easy to pick out. The challenge has completely disappeared from Domini games. Even switching to the different game modes doesn't offer much of a change.
The 2 HOPs I played in the demo were interactive which is always fun, I liked the storybook scenes. However, they were pretty simple. The Match 3 usually is basic and quick, but the HOPs are always my preferred game. The puzzles can be played in Easy or Hard Mode. The challenge in Hard Mode prolonged the solution but was not especially difficult. The games in the demo were okay, a couple were vaguely familiar.
The graphics were nice and clear, very colorful. However, I didn't see much of the traditional orange and black. The tasks were quick without a lot of back and forth. However, there were just so many things to find that it became tedious. I didn't run into any glitches, the music was okay for a while but eventually had to turn it down.
I wish developers would keep adults in mind when designing their games. This one was very juvenile, an adult Halloween theme shouldn't be that difficult to create. The big day is almost here and so far nothing new or exciting has come along. Back in the day, every holiday brought in a lot to choose from and they were good, solid entertainment. Now it's quite the opposite. Hopefully the future will become brighter but if BF doesn't take more of an interest in quality and new ideas, we'll be stuck in this rut forever.
Today's Halloween Chronicles is a game well suited to the young players, teens. And of course many adults love romping through fantasies and monster worlds. I like them once in a while, but they have become the norm at BF and I'm bored. This one has lots to keep you busy, a rescue mission to save Samantha and monsters to meet along the way. Hopefully this will be a fun choice for you. We all have different tastes. As far as the CE goes there isn't enough to justify the price, IMO. The SE will have all the goodies and the "extras" probably won't be missed.

I spent the entire demo travelling back and forth, looking in the same places, repeating the same actions, coming to another dead end and then repeating it all over again. The Hint is accessed with the "H" key on your computer but it did not make the game any easier as it just kept taking me to the same locations, and believe me nothing was there to help progress the game. Hitting the Escape Key takes you to the game options which are scant. I did manage to collect 4 items in my inventory but was unable to use any of them. Being hopelessly stumped and frustrated, I was happy to exit the demo!
There isn't much in the way of tutorial help, there is a Save Feature that usually comes with this sort of game. I didn't encounter any glitches. The main character's voice was good as well as his friend's on the computer. He was difficult to follow outside the building because his image was reduced to almost invisible and the surroundings were dark. The graphics were iffy and everything was far too small, it really interfered with the gameplay. I was interested in the storyline because it indicated a good plot. We rarely get any adult games at BF, so I was eager to jump in. It did get off to a good start with the Swat Team, but then quickly fizzled out.
This may have been an acceptable game back in the day. But that was so long ago and it's age clearly shows. I won't be buying this one, but it may appeal to others who have a better grasp on this type of adventure game. Hopefully it will be fun for someone. I think patience is required, and tolerance with the back and forth will be mighty helpful.

It's definitely challenging, a little bit fun (for a while), and quite a bit boring. The artwork is interesting but not breathtaking, nor does the game present an intriguing atmosphere as stated in the synopsis. Granted, it is different and it's a new developer but that doesn't make it a great game.
I love educational and word games. They are rare at BFG. Like everyone else I'm eager for something new, something that goes beyond the typical easy-peasy HOPAs and art games. I'm always on board when it comes to innovative, out-of-the-box games and a new genre to explore. 99% of today's games are for the younger audience, fantasy fans, or those who don't care for challenge, strategy, logic.
I thought that Type: Rider would be a game that an adult or expert player could enjoy because it offers an escape from all the "fluff". I played the entire demo, it was a little rocky having to get use to the mechanics with so little time. The theme was interesting, it was fun for a bit but it turned into tedium and the 2 dots thing was just boring.
Definitely try the demo before you buy this one. It may have great appeal for some but may be way too frustrating for others. I wasn't motivated to purchase mainly because, even with a gallant try, I struggled more than enjoyed

I'm not eager to buy this one, but I played the entire demo and it was pretty good. The Mothman is not a new legendary creature, sightings have been reported for ages. Travelling to several countries is a different approach to this seasonal theme, but I fail to see anything special here. Maybe a more obscure creature would have been a better choice. Myths have intrigued people since the beginning of time. Love 'em!
The graphics and colors are great, sights are appropriate for the occasion. The myth-based stories aren't exactly on the mark but it's just a game after all, so accuracy may not matter to many folks. It does seem suitable for family fun, I saw nothing frightening in the demo so kids should be okay with it.
This is another CE that falls short. Not enough extras to make it cost worthy. Two collectibles and a handful of HOPs, slightly more puzzles. There's a Mystery Room where HOPs and games can be replayed. The HOPs were pretty easy but fun and the mini-games were doable. I'm not a puzzle fan, but I did okay with them in the demo, the challenge was slight between the easy and more difficult ones, so I didn't skip any.
I don't feel Elephant Games did anything outstanding here. Just something a little different to kick off the Halloween Season, visiting 3 countries from 3 different myths. The tasks were of the typical variety and were easily accomplished, the demo was full of Halloween goodies in each scene and I think everyone will enjoy checking them out. The game ran smoothly, it went at a decent pace, music was okay. It provides some light Halloween fun and might be just right for you. I may consider the SE later on with a good sale. It will be good to have on hand when not in the mood for a long, involved game. It doesn't require anything more than just relax and enjoy.
I recommend this game!

This pixel art paint game is so cool. The dev has gone all out with features/options, color technique, unique puzzle images, two game modes and a helpful little map. Everything is different than our other pixel art game and is a load of fun. It even provides challenge that is fun instead of tedious.
The bright and beautiful abundance of colors are displayed along the bottom of the screen. A great idea, so much easier to use than the color scroll because we can see all the colors at once. Each crayon disappears when the color has been completed! There are 100 levels distributed amongst 5 different planets. Each planet must be completed before moving on to the next. The 20 puzzles on each planet can be played in any order.
The developers really did a fine job when they stepped out of the box with this super creative game. I know Pennmom can describe it much better than I, but wanted to submit my 5 stars to let paint by number fans know that new ideas and creative efforts can turn dust into diamonds. This is not a lazy developer. They paid attention to the reviews and our requests led them to work on a game that has it all.
Artists of Fortune may not please everyone who loves painting games. We all have different art style preferences. But this one meets all my requirements to make me a happy artist. This is the only one other than Art By Number that I have purchased in ages. The others lost their sparkle long ago or had none to begin with. I hope other devs take notice and make some long over due changes to satisfy their fans.
Give the demo a try for something different in this fun genre. The first Artists of Fortune didn't win me over as quickly because of a couple of things I thought I didn't like. But after purchasing and playing a while longer I found it to be lots of fun. I didn't hesitate to buy today's game! Enjoy!
I recommend this game!
