Graphics are impressive, so bright and crystal clear. The colors are true because it is all real scenery. But without a big screen PC or super-vision I struggle to find the items. They are so small and well blended into the very busy scenes! The game is in dire need of a magnifier. It takes a long time to locate everything because I don't like using the Hint. However, that does not take away from the quality of this fun HOG. I do wish, though, that it had more levels.
I love the cities being covered in this game and enjoy the brief description of each location. The animals are an extra treat and even they are often hard to spot in the densely covered locales, not to mention the insects and little birds! The challenge is really satisfying and makes this a superior hidden object game. The zoom areas may contain one of the kitties, so remember to be on the look-out. I like that nature and animals, including wildlife are the main attractions. Never care for out of place, silly items in disproportionate sizes so without them Our Beautiful Earth gets an extra thumbs up from me.
There's a gift shop to spend your earnings in, my demo purchase was an elephant which will be part of a wallpaper when all purchases are made. A good variety of mini-games are a bonus. I had fun with a jigsaw and spot the difference game in the demo. They were challenging but not overly so. The objects in spot the difference were very small and I liked the extra difficulty. I loved the way the jigsaw puzzle assembled, especially how the pieces fit into the picture leaving no seams around them. Really lovely!
After the demo I was ready to purchase Our Beautiful Earth 5. Didn't have to give it a second thought. Hopefully you will have fun with it too. Thankfully, I have a good magnifying glass so I can get around my only negative. It would be unfair to lower my rating for just that one thing.
Another new series, taking us back in history to the days of witch hunting. Riviera and Mark, lovers who are threatened by Gregor who wants to destroy them. Seems like it should provide an interesting adventure. Something other than the typical fairytales and paranormal sounds good to me!
I didn't witness Mark transform completely into a werewolf. I hope he won't look hokey and cartoonish, as is the case most times. The demo ended with Mark finally entering the dungeon to hide from Gregor. I just wanted to hint my way through as much as possible. I don't like all the searching, repairing, replacing, digging etc., just to get to the adventure. Too much really dwindles my enthusiasm and I lose interest due to impatience. More action should be available in the demo.
I thought the graphics were grand, appropriate colors really made a difference. Domini's usual palette of choice would have ruined the whole look. The characters were very attractive, voices were good, costumes were nicely detailed. Gregor and Mark will eventually meet up, I imagine, and a battle will ensue. Riviera will surely have something up her sleeve to rescue Mark from certain death. She also has to avoid Gregor's evil intentions, she has already escaped being burned at the stake.
I love the witches, werewolf theme of the storyline. Hopefully it develops into some solid entertainment with good closure instead of the usual abrupt, disappointing ending. The story sounds promising and I want to discover what happens to Mark while he struggles with his werewolf affliction. Lucky for Mark that Riviera is gifted with healing knowledge and abilities.
I really liked the HOPs in this game. They were a bit more challenging than usual, a little complexity in one of them in the demo. Different enough to keep my interest from fading. Even the puzzles were more entertaining. The few I encountered were fun in the Hard Mode, didn't feel the need to skip. The number of HOPs and puzzles aren't overwhelming. That's a good thing when considering a purchase. I won't buy a game that is overloaded with mini-games, as I think they steal too much time that could be used to extend the story.
The collectibles were of average challenge though most were tiny and in dark places. They posed no frustration and the sidebar to keep track of them helps to avoid the frustration of overlooking any. The predictable numbers of each, the many notes, the 70 items to exchange for decorations have become so boring. I think some changes are due, to keep things fresh and instill anticipation of each new CE.
Domini has become so lazy with their CE content and, for me, it is a great determent. The SE version has long been my choice if I do decide to purchase a game, because of this. This will hopefully turn out to be a fine new series, we don't get many of them these days. I was pleased that I wasn't burdened as heavily as usual with all those senseless tasks that slow the pace of my progress. I was able to enjoy a little more of the gameplay in the beginning, enough to make me consider purchasing.
A better version of Art By Number and I do mean a lot better because of a few creative, new changes that make such a huge difference in the overall experience. I am so thrilled with Art Coloring and hope this is a series we'll be enjoying for a long time to come. We paint by number fans have been hoping and waiting for something to enhance these games and this is a big step up!
The artwork really sets Art Coloring apart from the other paint by number games. The juvenile and busily patterned images have been replaced with beautiful pictures that are much more enjoyable to paint. Real people, real animals, real scenery, etc. We still have Helper but he is now in a colorful setting and a few other cute hand-drawn images are still included but they are not super childish or cartoonish. I love the cats on the couch! I like getting away from all the pics filled with a multitude of shapes and colors that have been the norm in all our color games. Modern Art is different but the colors are too dark and the images are mostly landscapes and fruits.
This game has all the fun features of Modern Art. It's great to see all the images up front, eliminating the "should I or shouldn't I purchase" dilemma that we all dislike. The counters are still there which are helpful keeping track of the number of areas and the amount remaining to color. I love the choice of cursors for a little variety. I've always favored the artist brush because it feels a little more like actual brush strokes and takes more time to finish the picture. The textures are, as always, a delightful enhancement as they create more depth to the artwork. The color palette is marvelous, so many gorgeous shades that bring the images to life. The colors used in Art Coloring are especially nice for the people and animals because of the realism, no psychedelic stuff to muddle my vision.
And to top it all off, pixel painting has been added. What a special treat which I like much more than the freeplay option. It far outshines the original Pixel Art method, There are the typical greyed areas in the images but the number you are working on is highlighted in light blue, eliminating the eye strain and tedium. Plus there is no meter bar which had to refill, no more waiting when you want to double click to fill in those large one-color areas.
The textures are available for the pixel painting. Also, as the image is filled in they aren't just solid colors. The shading and color variations and surrounding parts of the picture appear as you paint. You can see the image come together like you would as you assemble a jigsaw puzzle. I know it sounds confusing! But once you try the pixel painting you'll quickly see what I mean. It isn't at all like in Pixel Art and so much more rewarding! This was a wonderful addition, like getting two games for the price of one.
Describing an art game is a challenge for me, I'm not good at covering all the important things, but hopefully I've piqued your interest enough to try the demo. I think you'll really enjoy the beautiful pictures and the pixel painting. Something for the artist in all of us. Lots fun and relaxation, which is just what we need these days!!
I really enjoyed this game. Usually I become bored early on because everything is too easy to find or frustrated because they are impossible to spot in very dark areas. Here I am enjoying a good challenge and actually found the entire demo lots of fun. Didn't find anything negative in content nor were there any bothersome glitches.
The graphics were absolutely tops with beautiful, brilliant color that made the game even more to my liking. Real people are sight-seeing in the beautiful locales. 17 countries and 28 cities provide a European adventure for the entire family. We learn some interesting facts about each one, which is a good educational feature for us all.
The hidden objects are not so easy to spot, providing a nice challenge that kept me checking every nook and cranny and reluctantly hitting the hint button a little too often. Normally I would tough it out, but I wanted to see as much game as possible in the demo. There's written dialogue but not the usual unnecessary drivel. It provides the trivia about each location but can be skipped if you wish. I love learning about places I will never get to visit so the trivia was a plus for me.
Find Mr. Racoon in each location to earn the top reward and earn a super bonus by finding the silhouette items. There are also postage stamps and puzzle pieces to collect which are kind of easy to spot, the silhouette items are a little more difficult. Zoom zones might contain a collectible, the zones are represented by sparkly areas and several may appear in each scene. Items in pink print on the list are hidden inside or behind others. Items in blue print require a task to remove them from the list. I really enjoy the interactivity.
Upon completion of each level an achievements board comes up. You have the opportunity to replay as often as you like to better your score. The objects are very well hidden in this game. Sometimes I was wishing for x-ray vision but resorted to the Super Hint which exposes several of the items at once. I felt awful about cheating, so getting to replay was redeeming!
Haven't covered it all but hopefully my input will give you a good idea of what to expect from this hidden object game. I think it's deserving of 5 stars but I'm not sure about purchasing the CE. It does contain 8 bonus levels which may make it worthwhile for some. Usually the SE version is sufficient for me with this type of HOG. However, today's sale will likely persuade me to just go for it. Give the demo a try!
as many movies have shown us, but it provides a game that relieves us of the overdone fantasy and paranormal fare. Sounds like it might be promising at this point and turn out to be an entertaining adventure. I completed the demo but will say again, too many tasks of finding and repairing vital items in ridiculous places.
Finally getting out of the first room I came upon the other participants and we began our escape plans. Making decisions that influence the direction/outcome of the game has been done before. Although I never know just how much it changes things, it's fun to have choices. Where will we end up?
The demo contained a few games and HOPs. They seemed creatively designed, but the challenge was minimal. I liked the puzzles more than the HOPs which is not the usual case. Not many of either in this game, so I would think that leaves more time for the story and allows the game to move along at a comfortable pace. Too many fillers always shorten the adventure and usually leads to an abrupt disappointing ending.
Escaping the building and its frightening array of torture tools is going to be tricky to say the least. Hopefully, everyone can manage to come up with something brilliant. The sick villain behind the psychological scare tactics spoke briefly but he is yet to be seen. The characters were rendered extremely well in both appearance and voice, except for the bartender whose voice was totally not what I expected judging by her looks. It was an older voice that just didn't fit, but I may be wrong.
I liked interacting with the others but, for me, more enjoyable if they weren't all "kids". Everything seems to be geared toward the younger generation. Such is life these days! The graphics weren't noteworthy, they were sharp enough but the brown and orange hues made the scenes look murky. Still, better than the blue, green, purple that another dev always uses. I didn't care for the music, got on my nerves. Maybe that was the intention, to go along with the feel of the game. I felt more challenged in the demo for a change, but I would've been up for a little more head scratching to add more of that "got to get out of here" feeling to the situation. I cannot agree with the synopsis that claims that this game is not for the faint of heart. But after seeing the surroundings, pain-inflicting devices and being trapped by an unseen sicko, it definitely qualifies as a horror game for many gamers.
As a CE it is very short on extra content which seems to be the norm for most devs these days, so purchasing will have to wait for the SE version. I am curious about how this adventure all plays out and where my possibly unsound decisions may take me. I hope it doesn't end up an overly praised game, like so many others, where I wish I had not given in to my curiosity. So I came away from this game entertained by a good storyline with a thickening plot, not becoming bored to tears during the demo and proud of myself for not skipping a puzzle. I don't know that the theme here is suitable for everyone, especially children, though I suspect they've seen much worse on TV. It didn't seem over the top to me, but good idea to try the demo.
Word of Law: Death Mask, featuring a serial killer who turns murder into art caught my attention and made me think this may be a decent investigation game. The theme is an interesting mystery with gruesome undertones, yet not really graphic in visual detail. However bodies inside plaster, displayed as sculptures is demented and just plain creepy! There was a movie back in the 50s about a sicko creating sculptures with his dead victims. Maybe that's where the idea for this story came from.
I played the entire demo and was again bogged down by too many tasks that are bothersome when I just want to get down to the action. The pace of the game went well but was still stuck in the tedium at the end of 90 minutes. I didn't have as many broken keys or missing locks this time but what I did have was enough to test my patience. I've commented often that the demo has too many time-wasting activities. This time I did notice that the characters showed some improvements. Blinking eyes, lips and words in sync, facial movements, voices with normal pitch. The female cop was well rendered, sounded good.
The graphics were superb and the colors were good, not awash with all the greens, blues, purples. However, the HOP scenes were kind of dark and some items were hard to make out which compromised the detail. Made it more difficult to identify some of them. I really liked the HOPs, though, and the puzzles were very good which I played in both Easy and Hard Mode. Everything seemed a little different from the usual variety and somewhat more challenging. There was an alternate Match 3 but I didn't check that out, assuming it would be very easy and clunky as in the past.
I'm still not pleased with Domini's CE content, always the same old thing and the collectibles are so easily found, no difficulty at all. Actually being quite interested in this storyline, I'm thinking of picking up the SE version. Haven't purchased a Domini game for a long while. The CE would be my choice if they would just put something new and challenging into the mix. For me, the CE is no longer an option because the value just isn't there anymore.
This game will make Domini fans holly-jolly today, especially with it starting off a new series. The variety of play modes allows any skill level to enjoy. Age friendly, unless very young, due to subject matter. I like that it is not fantasy based and there are no demons and supernatural characters to deal with for a change. Hope you enjoy the demo. Merry Christmas!
The entire demo had me bored to tears. There were so many obstacles to overcome just to reach Mrs. McKirk once I was in the house. The outside was just as bad. There were broken, missing, hidden things at every turn. I don't want to spend 90 minutes just looking for stuff and making repairs.
The HOPs in the demo were so simple, requiring no thought at all. The puzzles were of average difficulty, didn't feel the need to skip any to save time. I was met with no challenge, really, in any part of the demo. Even the code mechanism on the shed was a "piece of cake". A two year old child could've entered with no guidance at all. I had trouble reading some of the notes because of poor lighting and small print. The collectibles were small and hard to see. I like them well hidden, not miniature and in the dark.
The graphics were nice and colors were appropriate. I was in the presence of Mrs. McKirk and the rude butler for a short time. I accidentally came upon a ghost several times, doing something suspicious. I went unnoticed and it quickly disappeared. So my curiosity is aroused at this point. Too bad the demo had me all caught up in all those mundane tasks. There may have been a chance to see more action. I really do think that a demo should cut back on the games and give us more of the actual game/story. I'm very reluctant most times to make a purchase because it is too risky, based on my demo activities.
The characters displayed no fluid movements, the voices were natural. Except for their stiff appearance, they were rendered well and attire seemed right for the time period. There wasn't much to the scenes in regards to amounts of furnishings or clutter to look through, which made the game even less interesting. In Custom Mode the Hint and Skip can only be taken down to 15 seconds. Seems like a long wait after being spoiled with 10 to 0 seconds in most other games. However, I prefer the challenge of the other difficulty levels. The Custom Mode seems to be better suited to the demo if you want to save a little time.
This game is an easy game, no head-scratching to figure out what to do next. Family friendly, any skill level can play. No fantasy characters for a change. I'm so tired of fantasy themes! If you're tired of Christmas scenes, there's none of that either. Just a case that needs to be solved so Mrs. McKirk can get to the bottom of things and find some peace of mind. I love a good mystery and a ghost always gets my attention, but I don't think this game will deliver what I am hoping. Also, it is contains very little to justify paying extra for the CE version.
The demo was rather uneventful and slow. I've enjoyed past games with Ms. Holmes but so far I'm on the fence about this one. You might come away with an entirely different opinion after the 90 min trial. Hopefully, it is just what you need to brighten your day. We need good mystery games instead of all the fantasies we are bombarded with all the time.
I loved the 2013 Ultimate Christmas Puzzler, and played it many times over the years. Finding Puzzler 2 today was a sweet treat. I like it better than the first one. There are lots of styles of puzzles, a variety of difficulty levels and everyone will have fun with their favorites or trying something new. An affordable SE holiday game, thanks to today's sale, that the entire family can share. The graphics are nice, colors are cheery, everything is just right with this collection of fun puzzles. The demo seemed to fly by. That's always a positive sign! No complaints with this Christmas goodie.
Anyway, Santa arrived in a souped-up sleigh and landed in the snowy landscape. I got started with the demo as usual, thinking that the Christmas theme might add something special. When it ended, I had finished 4 puzzles and saw none of the mini-games or interactive items. The music was pleasant but not very holly-jolly.
Although the graphics were sharp and clear, I found them unappealing with colors, IMO, that didn't seem bright enough for the holiday theme. They were kind of on the darkish side and the yellow looked out of place. Maybe it was intended to be gold? So, to me, the puzzles just had a dullness to them. The images were kind of cute. The little details as in past games were missing, but the pics were each easily recognizable. Hopefully, they all depict the Christmas season without some odd-ball ones thrown in that have nothing to do with the theme.
There's always enough variety with the tile choices, I usually go for the glossy because I like the shimmery look. They are a good size which adds to the ease of working the puzzles and as the grids grow I usually have no visual strain. Some of the cells will reward you with a bonus/power-up. You can either lock or unlock the colors, I prefer seeing all the colors up front. The puzzles are of medium difficulty for me until the grids become much larger and then my skills are challenged to the tune of replay, replay, replay. It's painful to start over!
I have no desire to buy Number 50. I stopped buying long ago because changes were never added, the decorating became boring and the novel penguin adventures wore out. Something new is definitely needed to spruce up Fantasy Mosaics. New characters, new challenges, new features. SOMETHING?! Owning many of the older games, I see no need for a new one. They all play the same.
The fans of this series are going to be joyful over this holiday offering. Lots of levels to enjoy with hot chocolate and cookies! If you love the penguins this is the perfect gift, just in time for Christmas. If unfamiliar with the series, take a look at the demo to get a feel for it. It is a quality mosaics game, but for me it just fails to deliver. Other nonogram games on BF have newer features, better options and aren't reluctant to change a little along the way to keep things fresh and fun. So, I just keep trying each FM demo, thinking that someday I'll find something new to rekindle my interest in this once favorite mosaics game.
People are disappearing, Liberville is in a state of bewilderment and fear. It seems the Swamp Witch has returned. I did find the storyline a bit more interesting than the last few. I wish the second witch wasn't just kept to the Bonus Chapter, for those of us who may not choose to purchase the CE.
I don't know how effective I would be as the King's advisor, trying to find the witch and the missing villagers, and getting life back to normal. The demo didn't give me much opportunity to use my wits and skills to be of much help. I was too busy with tasks and puzzles, and that slowed my progress which is usually the case in Domini games.
However, I did stave off the boredom for longer this time even with the too-many tasks. I just didn't get far enough into the game to see a good sampling of the action. I thought the HOPs were better this time, a better challenge, a couple of styles were unfamiliar to me. I also thought the puzzles were pretty good, but there wasn't much difference between the Easy and Hard Mode. I always try them both. And I especially liked that if I purchase the game I won't be faced with an over-abundance of them, as I'm not a huge puzzle fan.
The map showed up early in the village square, not elaborate but it got me to my destinations quickly. The graphics are excellent, good colors, scenes not saturated in the greens, purples, blues that I do not like. The characters are nicely depicted with good facial features, colorful attire, the voices were closer to "normal" this time except for the squeaky one of the girl at the beginning of the demo.
The tasks started off with one that always irritates me - I knew before I even clicked on the coach's key, that it would break! I wish Domini would put on their thinking caps and create something new and non-tedious. We get the same old predictable and mundane stuff in every game. In the demo I briefly saw the witch, she left in an instant. A cursed forest creature attacked Duncan but he was easily rescued with a spell book. That was the only creature and only use of a gadget (?) in the demo.
The number of collectibles, of course, are the same and today we're using Witch's Coins to obtain items for a Witch's Garden. And let's not forget all those notes! If there's anything spine-tingling, as stated in the synopsis, none was evident in the demo. I completed the 90 minutes and can say it went better than the last couple of games. Still, I became impatient, wanting to play more game and less puzzles, and deal with fewer tasks.
I think the game will appeal to most, age should not be an issue, and the 4 play modes ensure that any skill level can enjoy the adventure. The challenge never seems to damper the fun in the higher levels of difficulty, it just takes longer to get things done without sparkles, etc. If I decide to purchase, it will be the SE version because the CE, in my opinion, is too pricey for what it offers. It would be so great if Domini would at least do something different with the collectibles in each game and make them more challenging. Give it a try, it might be very enjoyable for you. I never pass up a demo, plenty of time to help with deciding to purchase or not. Each of us will differ in our opinions of good entertainment.
