with another puzzle collection of far away places. We never see these 2 countries featured in games or puzzles. Puzzle Vacations is full of features and options. I love the huge variety of piece types and the selection of table styles. Your choice of piece type can determine your puzzle size. Composing a puzzle can be very challenging or very easy. However, I don't like the black background where the puzzle is assembled. It creates difficulty when pieces are darkly colored because it's hard to see where they fit together.
These countries are full of beautiful landscapes, ruins, unique architect, wildlife. I expected to see a better variety in the many categories. However, I loved the temples and sculptures. The peacock flower creation was gorgeous. The gems and umbrellas were beautiful. I was really disappointed with the animals collection.
The graphics are always sharp and the game always runs smoothly. It's an excellent puzzle game. I hesitate to purchase only because this time too many of the images didn't appeal to me.
NOTHING! There's no mystery, no dreamcatcher other than in the title. Why make up something that doesn't exist? The synopsis must be describing some other game.
The Gold Cards ruin the game as there is no way to clear the table the way the game is designed. Its set-up forces you to play the Gold Cards which cover all the other cards that you need. When the Gold Cards are all removed the level is over, always with cards left on the table. Victory is impossible!
This is a poor solitaire game, created by devs with no imagination/creativity or they just don't care. Don't expect to see anything new except for the title and there is no story accompanying the game.
And yes, I also get the Error Access Violation that Pennmom mentioned. What's that all about? Maybe THAT'S the mystery!
An artifact in a box that Jim brings home turned him to sand. Immediately Susan took off through a portal she opened with a magic amulet. I was surprised that she just left her granddaughter home alone after what just happened to her father. Susan arrives in the Lost Lands looking for Maaron, his house is abandoned, he is nowhere to be found.
I thought the characters were very well done but they moved in a peculiar way. The voice-overs were really good. I love the artwork of the graphics. However, the scenes were very dark making it hard to find the items I needed. I played the demo in Custom Mode and surprisingly there were no sparkles anywhere, which upped the challenge and I loved that.
I wish I hadn't found a broken key and ladder just a couple of minutes into the game. Hopefully it doesn't mean the game is laden with tasks. Without the usual sparkles I enjoyed the extra challenge. The dark areas and colors, dark locations obscured everything quite well. I was checking and clicking everywhere. It was not at all boring in the demo.
The HO scenes were not overly cluttered, I love the interactive ones. The objects vanished quietly when found without any sparkly fanfare for a change. I found them challenging and fun. Only a few puzzles in the demo, they were not brain busters. I liked them, usually I shy away from most puzzles. These were fun and skippable.
My demo ended after repairing a boy's wagon wheel. I am anxious to venture further into the Lost Lands. Five-BN usually doesn't disappoint, so I will purchase this game. There's a mystery to solve, a curse to break, lots of danger and fantasy ahead. I'm looking forward to the adventure.
Not much to say about this game. Domini has failed again to come up with a fresh story, even though I am a fan of werewolves and such.
Returning items to their places in the first HO scenes was near impossible because everything was so dark and no clue as to the out of place items. Absolutely no fun! I encountered no puzzles.
Penelope's voice was that of a 10 yr old, not good! Her voice and appearance changed slightly all of a sudden. Was it my imagination?? Howard looked and sounded fine. All the scenes were dark and made finding things a little aggravating, just a few extra clicks activated that stupid lock and chain. Just about everything I clicked on needed a key or needed to be fixed or replaced.
I didn't get stuck with any of the issues that plagued Sunnyglow. But that was probably due to my short time in the game. Never even finished the demo because it was flat out not enjoyable! I bailed after 35 minutes. I was sorry about that since I really think the story is interesting and considered purchasing. I always enjoy werewolf and shapeshifter characters. However, the disappointing demo and possible glitches as the game progresses has scared me off.
I own the other two games of this series: Forest Spirits and Small Islanders. They are both fine mosaic games and I expect this one to be as well. The 150 levels are appealing to me, we usually don't get that many in other games. The build/repair is a small extra that's more task than fun, for me.
There are 6 tile sets of typical design and the colors are nice. However, when 2 very dark colors are side by side it's hard to tell them apart. You are allowed 4 mistakes, there are 2 power-ups which don't give you very much help but they always are enough to get me out of a pinch. They quickly refill. The numbers bordering the grid are too pale once they are crossed off making them hard to distinguish and mistakes can easily happen. It's annoying due to my not-so-good vision, even with glasses.
I enjoy the different themes of these games and the images are colorful and cute. I usually have no trouble with recognition but they are labeled. The pictures aren't big on detail but I like them, appropriate to the theme.
I have only 2 complaints which are the numbers around the grid and having to return to the menu for replay. Otherwise this is a nice mosaic game from a reliable dev that provides quality enjoyment every time.
Tiny Little Lion in busy, busy, busy creating so many enjoyable games. They are filled with HOs galore and fun mini-games. This one got even better with all the different themes. A nice variety that keeps the fun and interest flowing.
The super-clutter scenes are, for me, appealing to look at. The items aren't cartoon and I like the interesting assortment. The graphics are, as usual, nice and sharp and colors are true on the real-life objects.
My demo was fun, it went quickly. I don't mind the CE price to get the bonus levels with Tiny Little Lion games. It's an extra bit of fun that's hard to resist when it's a quality game such as this.
Modern Art's world wasn't so dark and bleak. It's cheerless, painted with colors that just don't appeal to me. The world I know and love is full of color and light. When everything looks like it fell into a big mud puddle it just isn't pleasant to look at.
The images are usually of good variety but this time there was lots of fruit and desserts, the other images weren't as interesting or elaborate as in the past. I rush like crazy to get beyond the first level to see the entire collection and find many images that are disappointing. I wish that completing the first level was not a requirement. Seeing everything up front would sure save time and help with purchase decision.
The game has no special features but I love the color bar for changing the background color. You can adjust it to vary the shades which is very helpful within the images. The Hint has no recharge time, it's great if you're the impatient type like I am. The color palette offers a big array but unfortunately it features mostly various shades of black, grey, brown and grungy green. Painting the images is quick and easy, sweeping your mouse over the numbered areas eliminates any level of challenge. An elaborate image is done in mere minutes.
I own 5 Modern Art games, used to love them, they were a refreshing change when they first popped up. But I quit buying when I got tired of the dreary colors and got bored. It's really a fine game, works smoothly and is very relaxing. If you prefer easy painting and don't mind the dark colors this will be a nice purchase. If subject matter isn't too important to you, you'll be pleased with the selection in Modern Art 12.
One of my favorites. I don't like Eric's new look, grim and tired. Dark elements are all around and the graphics are a bit gloomy. I preferred the more colorful ones but that won't keep me from loving this game.
The mini games are hidden on the right of the screen. Click the arrow to access them. I enjoy them all, especially Spot the Difference and HOs. Skip if you choose, all are replayable. I love the challenge of Spellarium and always play Limited Moves. I like trying to figure out my first moves toward the coins without wasting any of them. Each level presents a new layout and different obstacles.
I own all the Spellarium games though not really necessary as they are basically all the same format. But I love the building feature and how the game works, the unique boards. There are usually a few changes to look forward to in design. Just can't say no when a new one comes along!
Graphics were excellent, good color but a bit dark. The characters looked and sounded great, perfect lip sync. Too much dialogue but skipping it means missing a lot of info so I didn't mind all the reading. There are 3 cases to investigate in the main game, a disappearance in the Bonus Chapter. The demo involved murder on a train. Asking questions, gathering evidence didn't uncover much of anything but I'm sure that will quickly change after the demo.
I disliked the tasks, it never makes sense to have so many. A demo should reveal more of the storyline to help with the decision to buy the game or not. This one wasn't as bad as most however. A few tasks really bugged me, i.e., a detective fixing a vacuum cleaner, using a tape measure to grab a handbag, covering a steaming teapot with a hat. Logic would be so nice for a change, especially in a detective story.
The demo was sparse on the HOPs and puzzles. The same clunky Match 3 was available. I really liked figuring out the train route, the HOPs were a good challenge, liked the variety. I always appreciate the Easy and Hard Modes for the puzzles. The collectibles and morphs were super easy to find.
I do not agree that Domini provides more gameplay and features, the HOPs and puzzles don't outnumber those of other devs. Nothing makes their games any different but sometimes I see one that grabs my attention, usually it's a detective story. But the CEs are always the same format and non challenging collectibles which make the games boring and predictable, so the SE would be my choice.
I think today's game might be worthwhile with several cases to solve and the variety will make it more interesting, but I will wait for an SE sale.
If you expect the game to deliver what is claimed in the synopsis you'll be disappointed. The storyline didn't happen here. There was no need for the warning of graphic content. There were so many tasks in the demo, I didn't enjoy it much and boredom took over. The 45 minutes I played had nothing to hold one's attention. A couple of minor glitches, otherwise all went smoothly.
The HOP scenes were dark, it was hard to identify items. Despite that, there was surprisingly minimal challenge, not very creative. The puzzles were better but those too were very easy. I really liked the graphics, good color. I thought the characters were nicely depicted. Their movements weren't so stiff and they sounded good. The voice-overs didn't sound like bad script reading.
I don't think this game is bad, I do think it needs to be more involved in the story it promises and less to do with tasks. It may become more entertaining after the demo but I'm reluctant to take a chance to find out. Crime stories are always my favorites so passing one up is always a let-down. I wish the demos would reveal more story. It would make decisions much easier.
