Fun game, worth the effort and $$$. Not too hard. Only had to replay a few levels to get 3 Skulls. Having to build boats to get to other islands was the new twist for this genre. Overall, enjoyable, light entertainment.
I recommend this game!

This series brought new and refreshing strategies to the TD genre. I truly enjoyed the first.... however, they tried too hard to make the second either different or more challenging. Most of the game is very similar to the first.
New stealth units definitely required tricky startegies to defeat them. Often 1 or more Spells are required to keep the level perfect at early waves.
I would recommend focusing your offensive upgrades on the Dart Towers. They will be the cheapest and most powerful tower used in later levels as they can shoot/slow down both air and ground targets. But therein lies the problems of this game at later levels. I was able to get to level 12 of Wastelands, all perfects, effectively using just the Dart Tower. Some creatures are immune to either one or the other upgraded dart tower ammunition. In Wastelands I almost always had to sell those towers in the middle of the level and replace them with their counterpart as the monsters changed and were now immune to the ones I started with. Ok, no big deal I guess as that's what I spent my valuable gems for. BUT on level 13??? they mixed and changed the monsters so many times that I was constantly replacing towers. And even then it wasn't enough. I got so frustrated having to replace towers multiple times I gave up and stopped playing. Maybe I used the wrong strategy of tower upgrades with my gems??? But I wasn't interested in going back and upgrading all of the other towers just to find out.
This is mostly a cool and challenging game, but the way they mixed monster types so much towards the end it's hard to decide whether to recommend it??? If you liked the first and have patience then you'll enjoy this one.
I recommend this game!

I wanted to play an HOG but Bad Playhouse Theater broke out.... rim shot. The cut scene dialogue here is SOOOO tedious. It goes on and on..... and on. Then you play for 1 minute and 2 more minutes of dialogue.... repeat.
The puzzles are super easy as if they can't wait for you to hear more annoying dialogue, hahaha. And half of the story makes no sense. I'm not even sure why the killer had a broken heart, come to think about. Which reminds me, don't think about playing this game!
Ok, here comes another cut scene :)
I don't recommend this game.

If you enjoy simplicity, then you simply must play this! Not a great game, not a bad game. Standard HOG, decent music, art, etc. The puzzles do tend to increase in difficulty however.
Gave it 3s across the board... to keep it simple :)
I recommend this game!

This game has so much potential, but eventually becomes unsatisfying. The pop-up HOGs are a nice touch but should have been mixed in with traditional HOG scenes. Doing JUST THOSE the whole game wasn't fun. Instead of finding everything in one HOG then moving on you'll be going back and forth all over the place throughout the entire game. It became rather confusing half way through.
Twice, on a hot air balloon and a gondola, I went to a "new" location in the game, but was still able to access the original scenes. More confusion. The graphics, sound and music are the strong points of the game. The story is deep and creative, but gives so much information that too becomes confusing.
Eventually I just wanted these Depths of Confusion to end....
I don't recommend this game.

Wow, what a nice change from the norm. Wasn't expecting much when I started playing, but it delivered a refreshing experience. This isn't like most hidden object games. It has a unique and challenging puzzle style.
Very challenging! If you have little patience or are looking for something light, this may not be for you. However, it is rewarding to complete some these difficult HOGs and puzzles. It has a relatively fast recharge Hint button and you can skip puzzles without too much of a wait.
The colors are vibrant and the scenes entertaining. I like how HOGs are added to each location as you explore it and click on items. The music is relaxing if you turn it down. Yes, its repetitive, but nice in the background at a low enough level. Overall, an enjoyable game with lots of depth!!
I recommend this game!

I really enjoyed Toy Defense 1 and looked forward to the next one.... I was sadly disappointed. If it's not broken don't fix it! Seeing the changes made in 2, I'd rather the game had remained exactly the same with new levels.
Wait, let me correct that. The only thing I didn't like about 1 were those annoying dying soldier noises. Unfortunately they still live. As with the first game I played without sound. One of my favorite turrets, the flame thrower, was removed replaced by a seemingly useless aircraft interceptor. I tried it once and never used it again. Since the majority of the enemy comes through on the ground, why have 2 anti-air turrets???
The hedge hog upgrade for the infantry turret was clever though. It can be very effective but takes time to learn how/where to use. I eventually put them close to enemy entry points without crossroads as they are wasted if the hedge hog is deployed onto a road with no vehicles coming.
Some of the turret upgrades were kinda cool, but also too powerful it seemed. Once several turrets were upgraded to the highest levels, the challenge for that level was over. Put game speed on max and wait til the next level. ZZZZZZ
The game offers a lot of levels and upgrades like the first, which is a plus. But overall it fell far short of the fun factor and challenge offered by the first. If you haven't played Toy Defense 1 then play 2 first. And disappointment will be turned into jubilation, haha.
I don't recommend this game.

Excellent game with a great variety of towers and creatures..... however, it's over just as you're getting the hang of it :( . Really enjoyed the challenge though.
The visuals are cool with vibrant colors and good animations. The sounds fit nicely and there's a variety of background music. Thank You. I often turn off the music as it's the same over and over. There are many many different creatures that come out depending on the environment you're fighting in.
The story is entertaining enough to follow. Laughable echo chamber but the voices are well done.
I'm used to TD games with an inexhaustable number of levels or at least several difficulty levels for replayability. Would have given 5 stars with twice the levels.... however, some levels can be retried looking for that perfect fit of towers to get 3 gold bars. Overall, it's a great game worth checking out!
I recommend this game!

I read ALL of the reviews and agree that it can be tough. I play a lot of TD games and find this one interestingly unique. The DEVs created a gem but could have polished it more for a better shine is all. Overall, it rocks!
Many levels involve a "trick" starting strategy that once you learn it, the level becomes much easier. As others have said, just keep trying different approaches. In defense of the DEVs, maybe they intentionally gave each level only 4-6 waves so you don't waste time figuring it out. I love Toy Defense, but imagine learning on level 20+ you have the wrong strategy and have to start over... ha.... ha.
The variety of this game is amazing. Tower upgrades that can be converted to totally differnet functions, enemies that heal, enemies that sleep towers AND create units, and being able to cast spells onto the map. Wow! Love it.
I've played through the 1st campaign on easy without having to go back to levels to get more gems fortunately. I can imagine I may have to on harder difficulties. But once again, the DEVs have provided a way for those who are getting stuck.
The graphics go well with the theme, and for a change I've left the pleasant music on low. The gun sounds could be better. When I first started I thought the Dart and Cannon towers were shooting spit wads. I wanna hear Big Booming noises coming out of my defenders as mad, raving hordes race across my Kingdom, COME ON!!!! They got better. The artillery and sniper sounds are more appropriate, thanks. The queen and I sleep better now, hehe.
Would be nice when upgrading/buying towers to see some numerical data on the effects and which units it can shoot. ie ground or flying. Overall, job well done DEVs. I'm sure I'll be playing this for quite awhile as it can be HARD!
I recommend this game!

Love TD games? Want a GOOD challenge? Then check it out! This title offers so many strategic paths that it took me awhile to develop a winning one!! Should I upgrade early units to the max, buy more units, or wait for that much needed Tank in later waves? hmmmmm
The unit upgrade paths provide a choice for your individual playing style, but don't waste Stars going in 2 directions. Think about it and choose 1 path only. Trust me.
I didn't find the Durability paths to be of much use. FIREPOWER baby!!!
I gave sound 4 stars for the annoying repetitive "death rattles" the soldiers make. Would be nice to turn off Voices and leave on gun Effects. I learned the sounds of enemy fire to know when to repair my units, so I didn't want to turn off sound completely. The gunfire also adds to the atmosphere of the game.
The unit graphics are ok but the landscape/background is VERY cool! It looks like a boardgame on a picnic table/blanket has come to life. Nice touch!
Sure, I had to replay a few levels several times to get a perfect score, but then I learned of a unique feature I haven't seen in other TD games. I clicked on the Hearts#upper left# and discovered I can buy more Hearts and $$$ for that level using my Reward Stars. Awesome!!! So that totally changed my approach. On harder levels I replay trying to minimize the number of enemy troops that get through. Then just before I finish the level I buy hearts to get up to 100. Spending 20 or 40 Reward Stars to gain the extra 180 you receive for a perfect score is a good ROI, haha.
Besides, I enjoy playing levels a few times to fine tune strategies. A few levels send so many men on some waves that I was overwhelmed. Ok, fresh tactics! Buy MORE units instead of upgrading existing ones too much too early. Then the $$$ you make killing those 2-3 massive waves of men will allow more upgrades! Ta dahh....
I've only completed the first 16 levels with perfect scores and am looking forward to more fun challenges. Haven't even begun Hard Winter yet. I'm so excite!!!
I recommend this game!
