Late to the party, but wanted to add to the great rating that this game has. It has a major creep factor, the voice of the Boy gave me goosebumps everytime. The graphics are great, the storyline is top-notch. The puzzles are a little easy, this would have benefited from the Easy/Hard option, but this may be a bit before that caught on. But no matter, this game stands the test of time. The only low rating that I give it is the Challenge Level, just because some of the puzzles are to easy. Other than that, no complaints and I can't wait for more!
The look for this game is just right. Not too dark it is very fitting to the mood. There is a mix of old and new to the games and HOPS, very refreshing. Good length. Little bit of a jumpy/creep factor, but nothing that will keep you up at night :) I'm not going to go over the storyline, others do this very well. I will just say that in my opinion, this looks to be another hit series from Elephant, good job!
I was really looking forward to this one after the demo, but then when I got it and started, I got kind of...........stalled? bored? and then my computer died and I had to get another one and as I was going through my stash of games, this one just kept getting pushed back father and father. Finally, I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and said, 'this is it, this is the one, it is time.' Ho hum, there's 3 hours I will never get back. It was just boring.......really boring. And the ending really (sucked) 'scuse my French. I can paste together the issue, but really, you need to flesh out your stories man. The is just sloppy storytelling imo. And Brenda Gale? Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this the 3rd or 4th series this voice actress is in? Not that I mind her, she is better than others. But if all the developers are using the same talent, maybe there is a reason that all the games are starting to look the same..................
I have really enjoyed both of the Bonfire stories, the games are bright and quick, the stories are engaging, the puzzles and games are challenging without getting frustrating. There is a good variety. The length was good as well, it did not drag at all. This is one of my favorite series, I hope that they come out with more soon!
Overall, I liked the game. I like the series very much. I was a bit disappointed in the length, it was three short chapters that lead to one short game. However, the puzzles are good and varied, the HOPS have some unique challenges that take them out of the same old ho hum realm. So, I landed on the side of good, with the shortness being a delta.
Grim Tales is one of my favorite series, especially the more recent ones, simply because they pull you in quickly. My favorite games have lots of puzzles, maps and most importantly, they make me feel like I am playing with someone, not just walking around clicking here and there. There is a more engaging vibe to the more recent games, Grim Tales and others. Richard was kinda fun, kinda creepy. Hope to see more of him :) My only complaints are that the ending was silly and the game itself was too short, but I have those same two complaints about a lot of games, LOL.
Harrowed Halls has got to be in the top 5 series that Big Fish offers, I just wish that there were more stories. They didn't skimp on the size, the game is nice and long. Major creep factor, had me jump in my seat a couple of times. The only downside that I can come up with is that some puzzles were a little too easy. I wish that they used the hard and easy versions. The story line is great, the visuals are top notch, even the audio is far from run of the mill. Two big thumbs way, way up, I heartily recommend this game!
I recommend this game!

Ominous Objects: Phantom Reflection
A mysterious mirror is causing havoc in your client's house!
I liked the game overall, good map, good continuity. It could have used a little help in the Notes section, it was just pictures, it could have used a little more umph and could have helped move the story along. I was not a fan of all the flying shards, that trick just got annoying after a whle. And I truly am not a fan of all the abrupt endings that I have been finding lately. This one truly ended without solving a thing. I don't know if developers are lazy, losing their creativity or rushing to deadlines, but that is a trait that I really wish would die out. I will still recommend it for the puzzles, length and Mr. Jenkins ;)
This was an excellent adventure, really top rate. The HOS were great, I really like when I have to do a puzzle to unlock the HOS, bonus! The map works well, Drake was corny, but was meant to be so it worked. The game lasted a long time, it wasn't short like they tend to be lately.
The only issue that I had was a technical one. Occasionally if I dropped the screen for too long to net surt, or check out facebook, it would lock up the computer. And one or two puzzles were buggy. BUT, I just rebooted and everything was fine, so it could even be from my end. Just mention it so if it happens to you, you don't get tense about it being a failed game.
This is a marvelous game! Nice and long, a few twists, engaging story.
Lately it seems like games are rushing to the end, this one takes it's time. The map works very well, you have an automatic jump back and forth when you need to make a potion so that was great.
The potion gimmick was fun, the slider puzzles when you were seeing the past were fun, but I could have used a few more intricate puzzles than were offered and less just plain HOS. However, and this could be a spoiler.............
sometimes on the HOS you need to use an inventory item so that was different.
The cons to this one, some of the pieces that were needed to put together an object were misnamed so you ended up looking for something and you really already had it. The loading of the game is a little slow. And not really a con but a headscratcher, I ended the game with more than 5 unused items in my inventory. And when I looked at a walk through to see if it mentioned where to use them, the screenshots at the end had different objects in their inventory......so I am not sure what that is about, unless it has to do with the CE version.
But other than that, a very satisfying romp through "history".
