I'm not going to go through the mechanics of the game, some was fun, some was annoying. My biggest complaint is the lack of storyline, or at least lack of one that made sense. If I were in it for the plot, I would have abandoned ship long ago. These used to be fun, but this one was dreadful.
One of my favorite series, I am so glad that we were gifted another session. Love the story so far, love the little fox, can't wait to have the time to really get immersed in this one!
Not sure what the wailing and gnashing of teeth is all about, this is an excellent fit in the Mystery Case Files series. It has plenty of puzzles, some are similar to the older games, some are new. There is a twist on the Rube Goldberg types, and who isn't up for a change of pace?
This is making me eager to go back and replay Broken Hour and Madame Fate ;)
The voice work is excellent. Graphics are top notch and I love the story. I 100% endorsed this game!
The title kind of sums it all up. This is an enjoyable little game, challenging puzzles and HOs. It bugged a little, I like to play and then go read Reddit or Facebook and come back. This game would freeze at times when I did that so I would have to power down. Annoying but not insurmountable.
It is a short game though. It all takes place in the school and so there are only about 3 floors and 12ish rooms to go through. But seeing as some rooms just have you pick up something and leave, it sounds like more than it is.
But, it is a fun little game. Good for a coupon or daily purchase especially.
Other than the unnecessary, in my opinion LOL, slew of spiders, this is an excellent game. It flows well, the story makes sense. This is not hard cored, this is nice and relaxing, easy paced. Great for any level of player.
What a good start for me as an introduction to this series. The graphics are great, good mix of HOG and games, the storyline is clear, there is an actual ending rather than just an abrupt "You're Done!" No worries about scares, even though it has elements, it doesn't jump out at you.
I am a fan of this series, I think that I have all of them by now, but this one was not a hit. The look is good, the storyline is fine, I never expect it to follow the poem anyway, it is the technical aspects that are bad.
The games, oh my the games. I get excited when there are new puzzles in a game. I like HOPs fine, but I like the puzzles a bit more. And this has several that you don't see often. And if this is how they go, I hope not to see them again. I am not sure if it is because the instructions don't make sense, or if the games themselves are flawed.
And I know that it is not just me, a youtuber that I like to follow who runs the games was having a heck of a time with them too. I don't like to do it, but I ended up skipping some. Never a good feeling, but I can only spend so much time on it.
Even with that said, it was a short game that came to quite an abrupt ending that left several questions unanswered. I don't want to spoil anything, but I am not used to a game that leaves tasks undone....because all the pieces aren't there. That was a first for me. Usually, you can' move forward until all it finished.
So, sad to say, this is one that I cannot recommend, unless you have a coupon or punch running out.
I like this series, but this one was rather disappointing. It was too easy really is my only complaint I guess. The puzzles were easy, the story line was very linear, the hops were no challenge at all. I am not sure where this runs in the series, but it seems to have been tailored to those that are new to this type of game. So, from that standpoint I would recommend it, otherwise, find more of a challenge that would take more that an hour and a half (with breaks) to complete.
Overall, I enjoy the series. I like that they refer back to other games, I either have played them and know the background or am intrigued enough to download them and find out, haha. But the part that puts me on the fence is the length. I have played part one and now part two, and they both seem really short. I would think that with three characters to follow, we would get something juicy to sink our teeth into, but it just seems to fall a little short. And the ending was really abrupt and in your face. Now, maybe with the bonus chapter in the CE questions would have been answered.....um Richard? but I am left unsatisfied really. Well, I have part three waiting in the wings, maybe that will wind some of it up. I had fun, just seeing that there are some places it could be shored up.
This is the 2nd in a new style for this developer, and even though this came out after the League of Lights tale, it doesn't seem as polished. I like this style as a change, but LOL was more challenging and a lot of fun, enough so that I played it through more than once already.
But, this is about Bonfire Stories. The storyline is fine, I have no problem with it. The problem that I have is that their 'gimmick' is too easy. The bumper between scenes was much more challenging for LOL. I also have a real problem with how it ended. It was so open ended and unfinished that if I just had the SE, I would be severely disappointed. But, this is the CE with the extra chapter. So, I should be good, right? No............ I still felt that the original ending was awful and the bonus chapter did not help.
So, if you want a change of style, go to the LOL game. If you enjoyed that, then try this one, just realize that they didn't take care of us as they should have.......
