I think the reason dark themed games are often appealing is because of the solitude that is experienced as you move around from place to place (not a people-packed experience) and because you really don't know what to expect at any moment...
What I loved: Elephant games- I really appreciate their comprehensive sound control options and this game has detail that's out-of-this world, both in the scenes and sound-wise. Lights and shadows, gouls and foul creatures... Lots of gray, lots of unseen corners, lots of skeletal bits and pieces reassembled to create monstrosities, but not in a bloody, gross, fleshy way, more in a "that's really weird" way.
Sometimes, if the kid in the game seems too familiar to me, I'm unable to play it, but in this case, I was ok. So if you are a family person, you might want to trial it, to make sure it doesn't make you uncomfortable.
Best game out for a while!

Oh why, oh why did I buy this game?! The beginning is wonderful, but then it just isn't anymore! No thrill, no mystery, just very good English voiceovers and lots of rain. Arggh!
Restore castles in a royal match-3 adventure to help Matthew marry a Princess!

I completely love this game. Just everything about it: the backgrounds, the sounds of birds and water, the match-3 icons, the variety of ways in which you can play the game (timed, limited-moves or relaxed), the explosions, the power-ups you can buy, the multi-screens you must tackle sometimes up to 4, to get past one stage, the bonus "garden" game of match-3, and the mahong if you need to earn extra bags of gold coins.
I know there are other jewel-match games, but this one is just the best!!

Wonderful game to begin with. For probably a whole hour everything was 5* quality. What follows then, is a SERIOUS nose-dive in the STORY-LINE, which I would award a zero if possible. It became impossible to continue playing. Waste of money for me.

HOWEVER, after that the plot basically loses its way...in the fog. and the eventual explanation itself is unsatisfactory.
What I DID LIKE was the initial atmosphere of the apparent mystery, the moss ‘n rocky surroundings, the doom and gloom of the castle and evening, as well as all the fun HOPS.

A 2018 game. Review based on completed main game and bonus game.
Lots of places to explore! In the second half especially, I noticed some wonderful outdoor scenes! Mountain backdrops...farm nestled in a valley...that sort of thing.
However, the dolls gave the main game a very silly vibe and made it appear more like a puppet show. I found them annoying, especially the high-pitched, smiling, squeaky one who seems to pop up everywhere!

Halfway and lasting for a good stretch, the game goes nowhere and I almost gave up.
Then all of a sudden, the story unfolds full pelt and you are faced with truths which are very human in nature and that at least gives you an understanding of what happened to create this crazy scenario.

The bonus game is pretty terrifying I thought, just because it seemed more real. The acting was phenomenal in that and I wished that had been the main game instead.
This game teetered on receiving a 3*, but the last 1/3 of the main game and outstanding bonus game took it back to a 4*.
I recommend this game!
The killer from an unsolved case returns for more blood!

2018 game. Review based on completed game and bonus game.
I played the main game from start to finish. This was made possible because of the evenly paced storyline and great pin-sharp graphics. Also, significant attention is paid to the lighting with its accompanying shadows, creating a more rounded environment. The only thing I noticed was that some items are a little small.
Mainly set in offices, the city, and city buildings, there are still plenty of old, forgotten rooms included. There's always that feeling that there’s a hidden treasure somewhere. The filing room in the police station is to die for! Piles and piles of old folders! Crumbling plaster here and there, and light spilling in from a roof-light. You can almost see the motes of dust swirling.
Richard is BACK along with his old, gravelly voice (well almost). He’s back to having that dry sense of teasing humor, although it is still toned down compared to the first time he appeared as the accompanying skull. At least it isn’t as jubilant and youthful as in the last game (which seemed very out of character)! Maybe we could get a game featuring Richard, where he isn’t playing as our father??? That would be a lot of fun! Maybe we could borrow him from Anna in that hypothetical game? A Richard Special!
Lovely looking HOPS, fun puzzles.
I did enjoy the morphing objects throughout, but buying the standard edition would be equally enjoyable.The bonus game is ok, but I would rate it a 3*.

This is one of 3 ongoing games that I continuously have on my computer. All Jewel Match:
1) Jewel Match Solitaire: L'Amour
2) Jewel Match Solitaire: Twilight
3) Jewel Match Royale (a Match-3)
They are so well thought through that there is enough variaton and ongoing challenge to meet any skill level. The sounds are great, the graphics are great.

I hope there is another one planned for sometime in the future! There might be a ton of solitaires out there, but not all solitaires are built equally! (Same goes for match-3s!)

Available at BFG since 2018. Review based on completed game. With Haunted Hotels, sometimes the subject is too disturbing, but in this case, the storyline is just so-so. It seems to make very little impact. Everything is ALMOST really good, but it never get's there. Worth a coupon, or if you're desparate for something to play, since the graphics are nice, there's HOPS and puzzles, and a couple of scenes that are captivating, like the mountain besides the lake.
