(2016 game )
Touching and compelling stories of 4 main characters. Investigate what is going on in this strange place. Roam the corridors and rooms, some peeling, with strange things lying around and others in almost pristine and elegant condition. This game is more serious than Golden Silence. It isn't gory, but it isn't for kids.
Discover what the supernatural fire at the beginning is about and continue from there. The characters to be rescued are very likeable and the baddies are done equally well. The game is full of mini-games and puzzles.
Again, Whispered Secrets has surprised me with its consistent flow of story line.
GRAPHICS: REALLY GOOD! And sharper than in the previous game. Lots of places to visit again.
SOUND: Excellent in all departments with music being totally separate. The music is light classical.
HOPS:8 -10. Mainly wordlists.
PUZZLES: Mixed ability. Choc-a-block.
HINT: Will lead and guide. Customizable down to 10 seconds.
DIFFICULTIES:4 choices, interchangeable.
JOURNAL:YES
MAP:TRAVEL with useful indicators
INVENTORY:Lockable
CHARACTERS: Mainly on your own most of the time, but more interaction than most games.Good voice-overs.
I recommend this game!

So much is good about this game. There's the wonderful backdrops of mountains and numerous water-scenes, with great sound effects that accompany them. You're constantly going to new places. The game improves as you get past the first chapter, not the other way around.
When I first started the game I wasn't so sure if I'd enjoy it because for one, I tend to prefer sharper, detailed graphics. However, the scenery is FULL and not lacking and the storyline never falters. Another good thing is that if you need a break from gritty, serious or creepy, then this is a good all rounder. The only thing I didn't like was the vicious bartender, but that makes sense later on.
Once I got past the first chapter, I started to love it!
GRAPHICS: A bit blurry overall, but objects are CLEAR. Good back drops with scenery extending way into the background. Lots of outdoors. LOTS of new location. Full screen/Widescreen and aspect ratio adjustment.
SOUND:4 ! Music being totally separate. The environmental sounds are very relaxing, birds, water...
HOPS: Not particularly fun to look at, but GOOD VISIBILITY. Mix: some straight forward wordlists, some interactive, some silhouette.
PUZZLES: OPTION to make puzzle difficulty harder! Mix of all the usual. All skippable.
HINT: Will guide and lead you and often open up a window to jump into. Customisable to 10 seconds.
DIFFICULTIES: 4 options
JOURNAL: Contains tasks. Replayable videos.
MAP: TRAVEL with helpful indicators.
INVENTORY: Lockable.
CHARACTERS: Intermittent, infrequent interaction. The voice-overs are pretty good. I liked the characters (except the mean bartender).
I'm downloading another "Whispered Secrets" next!
I recommend this game!

(2016 game)
Played this on an HD computer, with a wider screen than I'm normally used to! I really enjoyed this game! The characters, the story, the settings all good! You are a member of some special order that protects against any natural and supernatural occurrences that cause disturbances. I felt a bit like a Jedi for some reason in this. I think it's because I have a mentor, who is so much older and wiser than me. An old city is deserted for some reason, and you need to track down and eliminate an evil that that has surfaced. This is a game for all ages, because it doesn't get dark or disturbing; skeletons is as far as it goes.
GRAPHICS: The graphics have an HD option! Loved it. The graphics are not realistic, but they're bright and well constructed. Widescreen or Fullscreen.
SOUND: 3 options with Music being completely separate :). The music was very effective and I more or less had it on the whole time on a low setting.
HOPS: Maybe 8-10- Mix, some wordlists, some FROGS. I especially enjoyed about 3 of them that were nice to look at.
PUZZLES: An ongoing game of a fight with symbols. Some of find and replace misplaced picture pieces in a story. Not really for the puzzles fan. All are skippable.
HINT: Will lead and Guide. Very short recharge time if you customize your difficulty.
DIFFICULTIES: 4 choices
MAP:TRAVEL, with useful indicators.
JOURNAL: NONE
CHARACTERS: Intermittent interaction. Good voice-overs.
I recommend this game!

Not 2016 bling. THIS game, kept my interest the entire way through. Woods, church, cemetery, caves, lodgings and more. Outdoors a lot. Another lovely, moonlit night with ominous looking clouds and intermittent thunder. I liked the weird characters and story line. The story has a few surprises in it. Witch hunters in the era of the first settlers. Are they justified or is it mass hysteria? Rescue a little girl caught up in it all.
These are not “bling” graphics, but you know I LIKE playing different styles of graphics. If it’s the same thing all the time, it’s like having dessert for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think a BFG club member would definitely enjoy this game on an offer or coupon. Especially if you don’t like being hand-fed.
GRAPHICS: Very mixed, overall grainy look, sometimes pretty clear, sometimes artsy with light and shade, sometimes a bit obscure looking. Generally I didn’t have trouble with visibility. Not sure how this game would look on an ultra-modern computer. FULL SCREEN only.
HOPS: 20 - Wordlists and FROGS (fragmented objects). A lot of the HOPS have good visibility; often 1 or 2 per scene had me stumped. The Trouble I found with the FROGS is that once you’ve collected an item there’s not always a clear indicator you’ve got it; Something wooden and brown will turn gray, but a piece of iron will look the same!
PUZZLES: Very do-able and enjoyable (not difficult).
SOUNDS: 2. Music totally separate (oh joy!).
HINT: 40 seconds to recharge on Casual. WRITTEN hint only. But very direct, where to go and what to get.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 2
MAP: TRAVEL . BUT there are NO indicators.
INVENTORY: LOCKABLE
JOURNAL: YES.
CHARACTERS: Interesting mix. Mostly you are on your own. You have characters to help so that they help you in return. They’re all given specific personalities which I liked…all a bit crazy.

Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you…(remember this song? 1992-3?). Replace the word weather with LADDER :)
Warm but natural colors (loved the rugs). You’re outdoors a lot, and spend minimal time in the house, you go along the garden paths to the shed, the garage, the lake, the guesthouse, all bathed in a lovely moonlit night, accompanied to the relaxing sounds of crickets. You also get a fun trip to the South American jungle!! Not scary, thoroughly enjoyable.
GRAPHICS: Mix of real and generated. Full screen and widescreen options and aspect-ratio adjustment.
HOPS: 12-15 HOPS The first HOPS was a real beauty and there were at least 3 like that. Wordlists, with 2-3 interactive elements. Tools and outdoor implements plus other stuff.
PUZZLES: Nice puzzles. They were slightly different from the run of the mill.
SOUNDS: Music and Sound. Music is separated from all else (yes!).
HINT: 30 seconds to recharge on Casual. Will guide and lead you. BFG WALKTHROUGH available.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 3 and interchangeable
MAP: NOT travel. Also there are no indicators for your next best move or task available. Indicators only show current location and where you’ve been.
INVENTORY: NOT lockable
JOURNAL: Yes. Replayable cut scenes too.
CHARACTERS: Minimal interaction. More in the beginning to set the scene, but 95% of the time you can enjoy roaming around in some solitude on a pleasant evening. Occasional narration by the lady you play as.
I recommend this game!

I really liked this game! It only got better the more I played it. There were unexpected surprises, especially with the locations, like the chapel, and caves and caves and more underground caves!… Lots of clever angles to create depth and perspectives. Fun.
Start off at port. Stormy looking clouds, on a moonlit night. Your significant other broke it off with you a year ago, and now you’ve been requested to help look for him. It appears to be the Victorian era.
GRAPHICS: Nice graphics. Clear.
HOPS: 20 – wordlists with a few items being interactive. Items are easily visible, some cleverly hidden. Not particularly pretty to look at, but interesting.
PUZZLES: A nice mix of puzzles. Quite a few! 30?
SOUNDS: Music, Voice, and Sound.
HINT: 1 minute to recharge on Casual. WILL guide and lead you.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 2
MAP: TRAVEL map! I really needed this in this game! You will go from one end of the game to the other.
INVENTORY: LOCKABLE
JOURNAL: Task and notes
CHARACTERS: You play as the formerly jilted girlfriend. Various characters come to your aid or hinder you at various points, but mainly you're on your own. The voice-overs are enjoyable to listen to. NO lip sync.
I recommend this game!

30 HOPS but many items very difficult to see. RELAXING game. Creepy too, but not overly so. I was so looking for something slow and sedate, but NOT without intrigue. This totally fit the bill. Loved every minute. About a 4hr game…depends on how many hints you use, I guess. In New Orleans, you visit a big house, intermittently meet interesting characters, go to a shop, a club and graveyard. Artsy, cozy and creepy at different times.
GAME MECHANICS (slightly different):
NEW SCENE: 1) Read the caption at the top, 2) At the end of the caption is a sideways fleur-de-lys-type symbol. Select that to move on. If you don’t do this, you won’t be able to interact with anything in the scene.
SPARKLES: indicate both “something to do here,” AND “HOPS.”
CURSOR: There’s a SMALL circle at the end of the cursor. When there is something of interest in the scene it turns turquoise, shiny, blue.
HOPS: Occasionally, especially at the beginning, there was a delay between the HOPS scene and the actual inventory appearing i.e., the inventory appeared after I started clicking around. Hmm…don’t ask me why.
GRAPHICS: Artsy in places. Mix of all kinds. Full screen only (not widescreen).
HOPS: 30 HOPS. All scenes done twice. Lovely/cozy/ interesting to look at. At least 4 items difficult to see per scene, if not more. In some HOPS, A LOT were difficult to see i.e. too small, too faded. But I still thoroughly enjoyed them! I was angling my laptop, trying to get light and shade in different ways so that the shapes would jump out at me!
PUZZLES: Not really a puzzles game, but there were 8-12. NO INSTRUCTIONS. All skippable. Also 3 didn’t seem to work.
SOUND: Music and Sound. Good appropriate sounds. Music is separate to everything else.
HINT: 30 seconds to recharge, on HOPS too.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 2 and interchangeable!
MAP: NONE, since the game is chaptered. House, then downtown, back to house and garden etc.
INVENTORY: NOT LOCKABLE
JOURNAL: NONE
CHARACTERS: Occasional character interaction. I liked the varied personalities! NO VOICE-OVERS, you read.
Once the game was over, I immediately wanted to play the next installment, since the story continues…it says, but now it's 2016, and no next installment. I googled it. 

Claustrophobic because you are indoors 95% of the times, in non-spacious places. Also everything is dilapidated and deserted in an ugly way, not a shabby-chic way. It’s like you are walking around a dump-site! The psychic was too over the top for me. Also too much interaction, back and forth to meet her 10-15 times? Endless interaction...
Pet peeve: you can’t make the dialogue go quicker by clicking on it. You CAN MUTE the voices if you mute “Effects” in “Options.”
I DID like the floating squares with moving pictures on them. This puzzle occurs every time you go back to see the psychic. But that is eventually spoiled because more and more squares are added, making it impossible to navigate the cubes and instead getting hand-cramp.
GRAPHICS: Mix of real and generated. We have discovered the GREEEEEEEEEEeeeeen filter!
HOPS: These were interesting, because one wordlist sometimes spanned more than one room!
PUZZLES: Floating square puzzle about 10 times (scrambled image on cubes). On 8-10 separate occasions, you get 6 pictures from the psychic to match up with real scenes. Sorry, can’t remember what else!
SOUNDS: Music, Environmental, Effects. Happy about separate music, but voice psychic is not mutable unless you mute “Effects”too.
HINT: 20 seconds to recharge. WRITTEN clues. Will not lead or guide you except for in HOPS.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 3
MAP: Travel. No indicators. Occasional sparkles to indicate new location.
INVENTORY: Not lockable. A very annoying semi-circle at the bottom, that spins for you when you press arrows either side.
JOURNAL: YES. Has tasks and notes.
CHARACTERS: In cut scenes from the past, and the psychic described above and from “ghost patrol,” an incredibly annoying presenter.
The best thing about this game? Finishing it.

(Game available at BFG since 2011, but if you’re up for the challenge, this game outshines many games of 2015-2016)
***BEAUTIFUL*** bitter-sweet*** captivating*** REALISTIC, snow scenes. Graphics are Amazing. But even more unusual than that, the STORY is just as AMAZING, from start to finish, builds atmosphere, and never lets up. The characters are likeable. It is a rare game that can present these factors at the same time. A BFG WALTHROUGH is AVAILABLE (I had to use it on numerous occasions).
I’ll say straightaway that there’s***** NO HINT ***** except for in the HOPS, and *****NO MAP***** Also this game is NOTHING like Return to Ravenhurst, or Ravenhurst Unlocked or even Dire Grove Sacred Grove.
A relic has been dug up in the English country-side. There’s a legend associated with the relic, and you go to investigate the occurrence of 4 missing archeology students. Falls into the category of horror, but I wouldn’t rate it above PG-13. Still, I wouldn’t recommend it for kids at all.
GRAPHICS: CLEAR, beautiful graphics and scenes. Mix of real and generated, mainly a realistic look. Only full screen, not widescreen.
HOPS: -30- Nice to look at. Straightforward wordlists.
PUZZLES: A handful. Mixed ability. All skippable.
SOUNDS: 3. Music, Ambient, Voice.
HINT: ONLY for HOPS. 2 minutes to recharge. Use BFG Walkthrough.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: ONE MODE ONLY
MAP: NONE
INVENTORY: NOT lockable
JOURNAL: YES. Your journal is very important in this game.
CHARACTERS: Real people are used. They’re not even animated; it’s basically cut scenes/movies of real people. You find video tapes that are scattered around.

I recommend this game!

I liked the setting of this story, the kid’s ballet dancing school in the country-side. Something dark and ominous has occurred, you must investigate. Gardens and rooms and hallways.
What really spoilt this game for me was that in the HOPS there are black, fizzling clouds that appear over objects and change their position, about 1 a second. These aren’t objects that you are looking for either. This is very distracting and took away the relaxing element away from this part of the game. Instead it had the opposite effect. It would have been much better if that had been omitted.
GRAPHICS: Mixed, sometimes blurry, sometimes very sharp. You’ll need full computer brightness. Full screen/Widescreen options. Interesting Art Nouveau in places that I liked a lot.
HOPS: TONS, wordlists and interactive.
PUZZLES: Mixed.
SOUNDS: 4. Music, Fx, Ambient and Voice.
HINT: 30 seconds to recharge, even on HOPS.
DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 3 -interchangeable
MAP: TRAVEL with indicators. Double-click the SMALL TAB in red, above the journal.
INVENTORY: Lockable, but items not labeled. Once or twice I wasn’t sure what an item was.
JOURNAL: YES
CHARACTERS: Mainly ghosts. Done well.
