You've been asked to cover a highly anticipated competition in New York City when something goes terribly wrong. Can you escape the world of illusions?
Cons: You had to go back and forth to different locations, which I normally like, but it was so much that I ended up using the map for the last half. There were a lot of times when I didn't use the tool near enough to the goal and it reject my attempt. A lot of times.
But still, very enjoyable.
I recommend this game!

Dark Tales™: Edgar Allan Poe's The Mystery of Marie Roget Collector's Edition
A newlywed is threatened, and supernatural forces are afoot!
The story was dull with absolutely no mystery to it. The visuals were nauseating and unappealing. The title promises mystery and creepiness, but the first scene starts with Alice and "2 years later" spoiling all the fun.
Just once, I'd like to see a HOG say, "Well, it's dirty, but this is a life or death situation, so I'm just gonna deal with it!" instead of always making us find an object to clean the cobwebs.
Well, as the only critic so far, I'll give you my thoughts. This game had, as I say above, painfully slow animations. Meaning: you click to use a hammer, and wait for it to remove a nail, slowly. Then you do it again. And wait. And again. And wait. For EVERY tool!
Then there's the storyline. You pick up lots of pages of text. Each is long, drawn-out, and dull. There's nothing to hook you in, there's no reason to keep reading those dull notes!
And a small final annoyance. There isn't much imagination in the details. The mermaid is named Aquamarine. Really? Think outside the way-over-done box, please!
All in all: it's pretty, but so so so not worth playing, even the demo.
So many "mystery" games are pretty obvious from the beginning, but this one kept me guessing. The Phantasmat series is always excellent, but the high-school setting made this one extra fun.
Definitely getting towards the line of "not for the faint of heart," this game uses the inherent creepiness of an insane asylum and adds original intrigue to make an enthralling HOG.
Pros: Unique mini-games that tie into the story
Cons: An annoying "partner" who keeps saying "we did this, we did that" while you're running around, facing danger, and he's chilling with the body. Sigh.
A simple looking, low hype game that is incredibly fun! Next Stop is a strategic time-management game where you can decide what you want to do next, instead of following a simple path. Like most TM games, you collect resources, make improvements, and earn money. Next Stop, however, doesn't feel like the rest. You are never waiting around to collect resources, you are always moving, planning what to do next, and your earning increases by the second, if you strategize, that is. One of my all-time favorite TM games. Don't let the lack of marketing fool you, this game is definitely worth it.
