Unravel the mystery of Griffin’s strange experiment in this suspenseful hidden object game and find your beloved scientist before he disappears for good!
This game was AMAZING! I was hooked by the title, being a fan of H.G. Wells and all things steam punk. This game is definitely a worthy representation of the times and/or look. I would recommend buying this JUST to enjoy discovering all of the period items.
The design of the user controls like the task/inventory bar is incredible. In the HOS there are 28 phantoms to catch. Upon capturing each one, you activate this crazy contraption that details the outline of each item that you need to find. This is especially useful if the item is in an antiquated form. I appreciated that the task list automatically recorded items that needed to be found to progress.
The sounds and music are unnerving. All of the visual elements were like 7 gram rocks for the eyes. Hostile creatures want to make your acquaintance AND there was an old lady cussing.
Once again, a game that will hopefully get some people to discover a new author/genre/interest.
This game was just plain creepy. It was VERY realistic. I'm a HOS fan and I was very impressed with these. All of the objects were relevant to scene and just added to the spookiness of the surroundings. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time...convinced that something or someone was going to jump out at me at any moment. Well done!
Find the festivalgoer abducted by the gargoyles of Notre Dame and uncover the cathedral’s dark past in this reimagining of the Victor Hugo’s classic tale.
Another wonderful 9: The Dark Side game. The setting was gorgeous. The story was odd and interesting. Everything was beautiful to look at and fun to interact with. I enjoy games that inspire me to do research on locations to learn more or read classic tales again. I also appreciate the help of adorable animal/creature friends. Being young-at-heart FTW.
I really enjoyed the music. I would have been more impressed if there were stories, histories and information behind any antique objects, postcards and signs in the game. Unfortunately, the majority of the items involved seemed to be modern objects. I think I'll just keep watching Mikey and Frank. :P
I ended up having to do a system restore to fix my settings. It didn't only adjust brightness. Fail.
The bland and emotionless voice over of the main character was a bit "off". I enjoyed my trial hour but I wasn't compelled to purchase the game to finish it. Mild sauce. No Zing.
This was a most enchanting game. I was charmed by the storyline and intriqued by the: "WARNING: This game contains mature content which may not be suitable for all audiences. " message. I hadn't seen that before and it was all in bright red.
The music and graphics are magnetic. The puzzles and HOS were original and relevant to the storyline which was delightful. The game had wonderful flow and had a zero annoyance factor, which is rare.
The chapter titles were beautifully illustrated and read like a fairytale book. A journal, map and child guide are included. Bonus content includes many achievements to earn, a collection of hidden fairy objects, Concept Art, Music, and bling for your computer. You can even revisit your favorite cutscenes and games.
Playing this was the frosting on the cake of my day. I think it will be a Valentine gift for myself. Games and chocolate make me super happy. <3
Things I liked : HOS heavy (I'm a fan). Digital Countdown timer for hint and solve options Swirling Bats hint Pop-up task note
Things that I didn't like that haven't already been covered in other reviews : the fruit bat doesn't live in Europe and Van Helsing wouldn't have gone down like that. I'm just saying.
I relished my time spent exploring the island which was abounding with HOS. My eyes must be going bad because many of the items were very well camouflaged. I enjoyed the challenge.
Eerie music fills the air in Vienna, where shadows terrorize people in the streets. Two musical prodigies have gone missing. Can you save them without striking a single false note?
Another glorious game from one of my favorite developers !!
~ Unusual and Interesting Storyline - 2 students vanish from a private music lesson in Vienna whose talents are to be used to release the Prince of Void. (not to be confused with the Prince of Parties) ~ Glowing violin that needs to be found and used by the player. ~ 3 modes of play ~ 25 musical instruments to collect to unlock a "surprise". Will the Orchestra of Void give us a concert? ~ Interactive HOS - some HOS with puzzles INSIDE them and many music related puzzles to solve. ~ Extras include Music,Concept Art,Movies,Wallpaper,Screensavers,Calendars and other bonuses. ~ Glowing Purple Musical Notes to indicate HOS - How cool is that?
This game was essentially Creeptastic with a British accented twist. The graphics were strikingly realistic. I enjoyed the background noises especially the sounds of children talking. It was almost EVP sounding. There were some very amusing creatures hidden in the HOS that needed to be dressed up and selected. The HOS scenes themselves were very interesting to look at and I enjoyed them immensely. There was a nice balance of HOS and puzzles. A notebook and task list are included.
